it was an amazing novel, especially if you're looking to be a writer. Personally, the paragraphs could become a little confusing at times (I'm not sure if it's because of the translation or the novel itself) but those weren't much of a problem for me. The way they explained an author's processes and I love that they made juho (mc) be able to 'talk' with his characters. It adds a good touch to the overall experience.

i do like that the reason for his downfall in his past wasnt because he... more>> was lacking. I've seen too many people return to the past become super op despite being complete idiots in their past. overall, I'm sure that there would be people who find it too confusing or unrealistic (with juho being the op dude he is), but you can give it a try. <<less

This is a very unique novel and I truly enjoyed it except the final chapters. I feel like the author was rushed to end this because a lot of things were skipped in the final volume. If this story was extended for at least 10 more chapters minimum it would have a much more natural feeling conclusion.

The part I enjoyed the most is the MC constantly struggling and wavering to not slip into his old habits again... more>>
Spoiler

which is one of the reasons I found the final chapters to be awkward as it shows he went back to his old habits

while trying to make better choices for himself. I really felt the feeling of the MC who was afraid that his quality of work would drop and his worth would be destroyed.

I also really loved the characters and their relationship and the interactions between them. The mundane stuff adds color to this.

I would have rated this novel higher if not for how the final chapters turned out. Overall it is a 3.8 out of 5 stars <<less

In short it’s overrated. The novel is something you could pick up, then drop without wanting to finish it.

Very interesting novel about writer and how he ends up as one of the world best writers. This is slow burn story with no adventure/action and no romance. What it has is very very good translation that is fully finished (394 chapters), well thought out and writen characters that have their own soul, drama part that is nicelly writen and some funny parts too.

The only thing that takes down this is novel ending. Well ending itself is fine but before it has some 20 years of time skip and I... more>> did not like the stuff after time skip. But ending is ok so in the end I still give 5 stars and recomend this novel as good read. <<less

Overall it's good story with some potential, it's interesting in the beginning when he (MC) used his knowledge of words manipulation to affect his surrounding, but that's all, entire build up just for a sole purpose, writing. It's indeed slice of life novel about writer, but I think it's bit too flat, and wasted such interesting backstory

I remember loving this so much, but then getting tired. The MC is so calm at times and there was no real suspense as you went on. His achievements starting piling up one after another and it stopped making sense to me how fast he could churn a novel out and how no one thought it was the least bit weird. It would have been nice if there had been some alternate storyline but there wasn't much of that either (actually there was, but... it was somehow slow while the... more>> main story was fast?). The side characters were honestly more entertaining than the MC and at some point I had to say that as much as I loved the story... everything came so easily.

The MC was always on top. There was no longer term processes. He had already shook the country and world several times and he was still in the same year in high school? I thought it was gonna take longer?

The story is somehow fast and slow paced. I have no idea. I loved the chapters I did read but it stopped being flavourful after awhile. :/

I love the premise, now I wish someone would right something like this... just a little more realistic. <<less

I haven't finished it yet (30 chapters left) but 4.0 score seems alright.

I enjoyed reading this novel although although unlike it's title, it's not that great.

There is a lot of good things going in it but the problem is MC... I know that MC is supposed to be reincarnated being that time travelled but is it really find to make him completely inhuman being, someone that is completely unrelatable and unrealistic?

It sad really especially since during the novel we are introduced to tons of author-side characters and most of them... more>> are well written characters. The same goes for most other characters in this novel.

MC however is this weird supreme being that can print bestseller novels left and right, never failing at anything. Having no emotion towards success either and worse of all spending all his money for donation just to be this ultimate good great person in every which way.

Other than that the fact that he was reincarnated and had all his memories intact, isn't explored at all. Other than his writing that is. But seriously. 200 chapters into the novel we learn that MC used to have some sort of lover in his past life and his relationship didn't work out. Still he doesn't even try to meet the said person... and naturally as an emotionless husk of divine being, there is no romance in the novel either.

So yea, it's a great novel that is heavily brought down by it's protagonist. The plot also suffers from the fact that MC never writes a bad novel. I would settle even for simply badly received novel but no, everything that get published is well received award winning novel. And this is yet another thing that makes no sense since MC didn't receive any extra super powers that would improve his writing... like so reading this story, the prologue makes absolute no sense since it's clear that MC should've been able to write at least good enough to get by and yet in prologue he is a homeless nobody that can't write.

Despite all that, it's still enjoyable novel carried by it's side characters but also deep dive into process of story writing in general. <<less

I just finished everything and weewhooo did I just get out of a trip! This is real literature. Omniscient Reader's POV is a real webnovel (it is awesome), while this reads more like a physical book in terms of the subject matter it deals with.

Okay, so Juho Woo, a fallen genius who was 'arrogant' dies an alcoholic after growing to death. He wakes up back in time and gets a second chance in life to live again. This time, he goes anonymous and enjoys his highschool days peacefully while also... more>> just writing like, as another review has said, "a printing machine."
Spoiler

He does reveal himself later on.

[collapse]
The story is mostly about Juho's accomplishments and other authors.

I really liked the first and second arcs, around 2/3 of the story because while its pace was slow, it was just the right amount for me. I'm used (and leaning towards) to more action-like, faster-paced action scenes from web novels so it was a real new experience when I read this. The thing that sold me the most would be the side characters. I love how the author handled mature topics as well, one that you usually won't find in the usual ass kicking let's GO type of web novels. It was nice to see something like that. Another thing I would like to point out is how well nationalism is handled in this story. It does so without putting other countries down, which is a real plus for me.

Spoiler

Especially in the award arcs. The author didn't even have to proclaim that NOT ALL AWARDS ARE RACIST but you can feel so in the undertones and really, that is just the real world. I appreciate how they went about it without much fuss or being afraid of being called racist itself.

[collapse]

The side characters and chemistry are what you SHOULD be looking forward to. I don't think I'll ever be as hype over a friendship as good as
Spoiler

Coin and Juho. (If anyone has any recommendations, hit me up)

[collapse]
And I love how relationships are portrayed in general. Normally, the protagonist would just have ONE group that knows each other but here, we see multiple groups at multiple levels and more friendships within those small groups. I could draw an accurate diagram of who likes who in this story because that's how fleshed out their interactions are.

There is ZERO revenge in this story, mainly bc the main character wasn't wronged in the first place. The man brought it upon himself with his behavior (said so by the novel, not me) and it's mainly just fluff and the writing process. Some may find it repetitive. I do not. It's a slice of life rather than a journey to the top, which isn't really the main focus.

I do think that it lost me a bit there at the end parts when wrapping the story up. The time skip was a bit too large, and I would have liked to see more of Juho and the cast as they progressed. Somehow, it feels a bit rushed? I think it would have made sense if the story ended somewhere in the middle but the author seemed to drag it out a bit just so we can see
Spoiler

Wol Kang, the teacher's dead husband.

[collapse]
Around the 200~ish mark, I thought the story would have ended, though I'm a bit glad it didn't since I got to see more of my favorite friendship going strong.

Er... I wanted to give it around a 4 stars because of the ending's pace, but that's alright. I hope you guys enjoy it as well. <<less

I was going to give this a perfect score 5.0 but at I kept reading, the Novel is a bit becoming more tasteless to me at least, personal POV.

Here is the reason why, pros and cons wise:

I really like slice of Life novel, I really do, I love it, this one started with great promising ever read in my history of reading novel, it was so good, the story and how the author build the MC is very interesting.

... more>> But:

It becomes too much later parts. MC barely had any difficulties stand in his way, and the most illogical thing is: He wrote too fast, he's a teenager (Agree on the part that he was given a second chance after living like decades from previous life, he got experience, but his previous life was a complete failure, not like He achieved something great on that life besides his first book "Trace of a Bird") and in this second life, he became a Tsunami that strike everything down in his way, the author kept mentioning that his writing make people wanted to quit and some already did, but the MC likes carefree, he didn't give sh*t about it at all, like he - himself, was destroying everything, smashing everything, especially authors.

The Author of this novel, repeat too much of a kind that praised him, it became repetitive and made the reader become boring every time you read to the part that the press and everybody gave compliment on him, it was too much, no negativity on the community AT ALL. There were no such thing in this society, the more you stand out, the more you become a spike in people's eyes, however, this novel barely had a thing about that, at least till the newest chapter I've read.

Spoiler

The critical part is the thing was cut that you didn't understand much what was transferred to us, the idea behind that, leaving a hole in your mind and it's annoying, the timeline is too short, people took years to do research to write a book, MC on the other hand, kept writing with speed of light, he released a series like in a year and winning an global award for literature, just doesn't make sense with that kind of speed, maybe the Author just want to skip through it, make your reading experience skyrocketing that what you didn't want to. For example, his third novel, which had an ending that made everybody surprised about his second style of writing, but the Author didn't even convey that into his own novel, still now I still didn't know a thing about that ending. The author skipped whole part, leaving readers confused in nowhere and between.

[collapse]

I liked it but I didn't get it all.
Spoiler

He donated all the money he earned but share none to his parents which was absurd... I mean, if you didn't want to live in the bigger house at least think about your parents who love and support you so much, yep another illogical thing that can't be explained (at least till the newest chapter I've read)

[collapse]

I mean, if your writing is ruining people life, and by that, I mean his colleagues, say something, I know you didn't mean to or you purposely wanted to do that, raise your voice, save them from your talent, yet, a few didn't give up and he thought that's all authors in this world and did nothing about that, the author did mentioned he noticed that, and yet, he said he's powerless to do anything, how? If you are too afraid of people knowing your real Identity so you just hided the whole time, then in this life, you are just fleeing from the fear of your previous life, FACE IT.

I will keep updating my review as I keep reading, I can't stand it anymore and have to write all of this to express my feeling or I will explode inside and out. <<less

A good and refreshing novel about writing/literature.

It is rather relaxing and fairly longer than I expected. The novel topic is rather interesting to say the least, and it made me want to try writing, so here I'm doing my first review ever.

Quite enjoyable, however, I found many of the achievements rather too big, exaggerated almost. ... more>>
Spoiler

I can understand his first debut title, as well as the few others, but the incredible success of his books is something too big in my humble opinion. His rise is too fast as well as too big. For some reason, bookworm friend winning that translator competition for Juho's book was way too much for me.

[collapse]

Not to mention, the last few chapters seemed a bit rushed for my taste.

I'm also rather perplexed by the skill, if we can call it, he acquired after the return:
Spoiler

I can accept not having really explained why he returned from death, but suddenly gaining an all translating language skill is over the top and pretty much... unnecessary in my opinion? I would have preferred him just arising with his writing skills rather than such acquired skill. I'm really just bothered by the fact that it doesn't really fit nor add much to the story, I mean, he would have met Coin regardless and they could have developed their friendship anyways.

Okaaaaay, so it has been some time since I started reading the Great Storyteller (probably a few months and I'm currently only at the half), but I have to say that I fell in love with this Novel! Something about the MC is just so relaxing to read. It's for sure something different and I totally recommend it.^^

I never felt so inspired while reading a novel it's just something about the whole atmosphere of the story that makes it unique.

I strongly recommend this slice of life novel as a reader that isn't a huge fan of the slice of life genre.

This book is mainly about the writing process of the reborn MC (if not a tiny bit gimmicky). It follows the MC's youth at the start of his writing career as he writes alongside friends and colleagues. Like other books that focus around a particular occupation or skill (i.e. Sculpting in Legendary Moonlight Sculptor or cooking in God of Cooking), reading this book will fill you with a passion... more>> to write. <<less

No need for flowery words to say that this story is an absolute must-read. It is a story about self- discovery and self- growth. Where I am in life, that may be the reason it resonated so much with me. Although I felt that the second half wasn't as engaging as the first half, it is still a wonderful read that I spent a few sleepless nights on because I simply couldn't put it down.

Spoiler

This is the most endearing and memorable story I have read in a while. I love Juho and the character he interacts with, even the so-called annoying ones. There are interesting character dynamics and friendships and never-ending character development. The main character isn't the only one who gets character development, characters rise with the protagonist, which is my favourite aspect of this story. I found myself smiling ear to ear as I read. The one thing I didn't really take to was the ending though, just my personal preference rather than constructive criticism I'll admit. Wasn't a fan of the time skip. I just don't like the idea of my beloved characters suddenly aging without warning and to be honest, I disliked the sudden introduction of Crow. The ending could've ended much better especially since I found the endings to the stories Juho wrote more satisfying than the actual ending of this story. I wouldn't say the ending ruined the overall story, I'd still recommend this to someone without hesitation because it captured my imagination and intrigued me. The translation isn't written in a fancy manner either, but for some reason I couldn't stop reading as I HAD to know what would happen next and who Juho would meet. Honestly, this story has been my addiction for the past two weeks I've been reading it.

I started out this novel, thinking it would be boring time traveller who does nothing to make his life interesting. Turns out I was right.

If it was just that, I would have ignored it since it's a slice of life. The problem was the setting. Why is he in the literature club if he's not learning anything? He just seems to be hanging out with plebeians just to revise his knowledge. And where did he learn it from in the first place?... more>>
Spoiler

Most people will mention how high school doesn't matter, but here it's like the most important time period. Yet he's also sleeping in class and missing out on a real high school experience all to run after some self proclaimed leg strength writer.

[collapse]

Also the idea that reading a book can make you bawl your eyes out and worship the author seems unrealistic. I've read Moby d*ck or whale, even though it was great, it still came off pretentious, just like all novels should be.
Spoiler

But somehow the two novels are literally well received by every being in this universe. I'm starting to think it's all in his head. Even the negative comments were about how the book is so good it's unrealistic.

[collapse]

The overarching plot is literally writing and fried chicken, nothing else matters. Everything else is to facilitate these two.

The characters acts like they're in a manga or anime. Maybe that's what the author was going for. Otherwise their conversations wouldn't be so fake and unrealistic.
Spoiler

The fights between Sun Hwa and Seo K..... something. If you put sound effects between their dialogue, it would come out as an anime. Same goes for all those genius talks between authors. Also the fact that the only point of his mom is cook and feed him fruits, that's it

[collapse]

There is this genius hating segment between authors, until you realize they are literally just arguing who is more genius and what genius circles to join, it was too elitist for me and MC who clearly said he quit being a genius.

There is also the subtlety arrogant attitude of the MC. Always considering everything and everyone to be his fan the moment you read his books, always scanning humans for their emotions and circumstances like a cyborg. All for the sake of the so called inspiration. That's not how it works. Also, why is everybody obsessed over some book, even though the author is young. Toshiro in Bleach didn't have every girl screaming to bear his children, so why here?

I give this novel a 2.5 for its lack of character development, just reincarnation doesn't cut it, useless superpower and lack of attention grabbing plot.

At least I can ignore the misinformation since it's a fictional after all. <<less

Extremely slice of life novel, if you dont like that dont read this novel.

This novel is basically a Chinese novel without evil characters, so if you like to read a novel without s*upid young masters this may be something.

I would say it is a feel good novel

BUT then again if you don't like slice of life dont read this novel, its so hard to rate this novel because of that so I choose not to give it stars

Good Book.

I dont know how to express the experience of reading this book but I'll try my best.

You start out by reading about this genious writer who falls from grace and goes back in time to fix all these mistakes. Our main character is pessimistic and reasonably so, he is afraid. The reader feels this fear and with each step in the book we feel it getting bigger, the problem gets worse. On the surface it doesnt show but it definitely is there.

The auther paced it really well and the... more>> characters feel alive to me, with each having distinct personalities and personal quirks.

The only thing I have to complain about (without giving any spoilers) is what the author did towards the end. It made me feel stiffled. However, even so this book is worth your time.

Tldr: It is worth the read go read it. <<less

the great part of this novel is the school life part and the interaction with other authors.

but after he reveals himself and the story goes past the high school, the plot became bland. That's why I change my rating from 5 to 4 and if the ending is like the typical Korean ending I will drop it again to 3.
