A god of a different world had abruptly appeared in my classroom and semi-forcibly summoned the entire class to his world.ーーーーexcept for me, Kamiya Yato.

Because I was taking a seat in the corner of the class, the round summoning magic circle didn’t reach me and I ended up staying here on earth but with new skills. After I made it through a whole year full of police interviews and journalism reports, I finally graduated to my first year of high school.

Alright here's my fair share of complaints on why this novel is literally less than a 1/5 compared to other isekai/fantasy light novels/web novels.

  • The MC is obviously drastically overpowered but he is WAY too lazy to do anything until the last minute, ranging from the FL almost getting assaulted by some terrorist to other prolonged action/dramatic events. The MC is basically a huge hypocrite in which he states references to light novel protagonists and such and bashes them for being dense or not proactive when he is exactly the same. I honestly don't understand why JP light novel/web novel authors have an obsession with laziness, mediocrity, denseness, and indecisive protagonists like is their goal to basically ruin the isekai/fantasy genre even further than it already is? They should really read into what they're writing and genuinely ask themselves "is this what I would do in this situation?" because it seriously feels like all these isekai protagonists just have an obsession with finding miso and soy sauce in another world and trying not to attract attention from anyone 24/7 when they're breaking the rules of common sense 99% of the time (yeah I'm talking to you Wiseman's Grandchild, Chronicles of an Aristocrat, etc.)
  • I wonder when the day will come when we try to make FL's and harem members a bit more, you know, dimensional? They fall immediately fall in love with the protagonist at first sight and all literally fight for his affection completely unrealistically. If you're going to do this type of template element, at least make it a bit more realistic.
  • There's also zero character development. I mean literally, the MC just sleeps for 99% of the novel, even during a terrorist attack (like who even does THAT). The plot is not really a plot, rather it's a slice-of-life combined with a tad bit of unnecessary and preventable drama and action had the MC been more proactive with his life.
  • Overall, there's a lot of elements in this novel that frustrates people, including me, and I think at least in the sense of Wiseman's Grandchild, the MC is at least willing to be a bit more active to protect the ones he cares about and isn't afraid to kill while this novel's MC doesn't even do anything against terrorists that threatened his and the FL's well-being. Step up your game author unless you want your series to be dropped by your readers because this novel's rating has been going by each chapter it's been releasing.

another very interesting novel that is sadly, made boring and uninteresting by the diary writing style of most japanese WN.

even worse, the MC here has zero motivation to do anything with his powers and the only reason why this novel exist is because the god is constantly trying to kill MC.......

oh and every female that has a name suddenly likes MC despite him doing nothing with regards to them

A fine idea, but poorly executed. the first chapters make you believe that this story is definitely going somewhere, but you eventually will be faced with the conclusion that it is not. Or if it is, it's taking it's sweet time doing it. 120 chapters in and several of those being pointless filler chapters and I honestly have to admit... I'm rather disappointed. If you really want to read something and there is absolutely nothing else that interests you then I guess this might work for you, if it doesn't... more>> bore you further.

The manga however might just save this story, it is not unusual for manga adaptations to fix long winded web/light novels.

Well regardless of how MC gained his power the story pretty much comes down to MC being insanely overpowered but not having anything to do with his powers... which is truly absurd idea. MC generally thinks of his powers as useless but convenient thing to have... following the idea that magic is not useful in realistic-world setting world... which to me automatically makes the MC a brat or a moron considering the things he could do.

With regard to that in other stories even someone who suddenally develops God complex or... more>> wants to take over the world is better. Here however, MC can't even come up with an idea of conjuring money and instead does some odd jobs for a detective friend just so that friend bought him ramen!!!

WORSE yet... at first the story is the usually slice of life, MC getting girls while sleeping in class. But very soon the author finds himself not being able to think of any decent plot so first he introduces some terrorization organization that MC takes out in 3 chapters... seeing how that didn't work, the Author decides to do the most moronic thing and that is to introduce random monsters that appear in the world for MC to fight against... simply because yet again, both author and MC seem to think that magic power can only find it's uses in battle against magical creatures... (even then those battles pretty much come down to ONE PUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNCH!)

In any case, the idea of slice of life series with MC having overpowered magic powers ain't too bad... sadly the execution here is rather terrible. MC is okayish and the other characters are very generic, still there is pretty much no storyline at all and the world setting is as bad as it can be. Like this is slice of life high school series but other than the heroine, there isn't a single other character that has any sort of importance in the school... and very few of them even have name mentioned once... just to never appear again.

So yea as a slice of life this series fails as well... so generally I wouldn't recommend anyone to bother with this one. (sigh why did I pick up another Japanese Light Novel from this website... it never ends well. Korea for the win!!!) <<less

Girls, girls, always girls...

There seems to be no escape to this kind of cliché.

The protagonist seemed to be pretty interesting and now there is at least 3 s*upid and shallow girls always graviting around him. There almost isn't enough space to make some sort of plot, it's always the kind of ret*rd Shonen stuff...

A pity, I'm dropping.

The story start promising, from first arc then *sigh* turn into generic isekai that cant be helped, even after hundreds chapters.

Spoiler

Honestly, MC actually isnt bad since he's actually utilitize his power but then later nonsense with his isekai cheat he can fighting a evil god even goddess of war. What's make more annoying he could defeat god, but strungling against oni, omg. Aside that, MC got a lot harem member even his sister but he's trying to become dense protag (he said it himself). Wtf, just why? Better become dense protag than liar dense protag you see.

[collapse]

Its not enjoyable ride, but its somehow decent to read if you dont have heavy taste of isekai with high purity of cliche development. <<less

This novel is like "Kumo Desu Ga" and "That person later on", in resume "cheater skill MC" that has power to rival gods.

Its enjoyable to read but idk, imo it scores a half thumbs up (3/5).

For the most part it's pretty slice of life, there are some opponents in which things get slightly dangerous, but MC is OP, so it tends to be a threat to friends and family more than anything else. I don't know why he doesn't use the "level up while sleeping" spell on them to give the various level 1 people in his life some added degree of security for minor dangers. There's three major girls that are probable romantic interests, so it has a slight harem feel as well. His... more>> "little sister" is actually his cousin, but the amount of time it takes before that actually is mentioned in the story is considerable, if you want things to be less in*esty.

There's also a slight mystery to the story, but here's the likely explanation: (Heavy Spoiler)

Spoiler

The reasoning for the initial class summoning appears false, and the one "death" from the class is actually living and observing the rest of the class in the other world while hiding the fact. Yato's per level growth and initial skills are so far outside the norms, beyond even what "heroes" get (of which there's only one among the classmates).

It turns out that the "chief god" overseeing the other gods is actually a husband/wife team, and they seem overly concerned with Yato's development. He's almost certainly their son, and this whole thing was set up just as a bit of real world training for him to develop his god powers. Whether this means his mother was a normal human and his dad was the chief god, or they created avatar bodies which they let die in an accident, or simply altered reality in the past to be a part of his extended family before birthing him, is unknown.

How could something be so boring?

The premise was great, it could have been great but it turned out to be a poorly written slice-of-life that isn't entertaining at all and looks like something written by a grade schooler.

So I really like this series it's a real laid back story like most the main character is misunderstood and WAY OP. It does run a couple of cliches but the writer does a good job working them in. The final chapters as well have a pretty good twist to them. So it's fun to experience them in unique ways. Over all I gave it a 4 because at times it did get a little on the slow side with the filler chapters.

Short chapters, a story not at all about the story, a poor slice of life comedy with a teenage MC who acts and thinks more like a 5 year old (and not in the good way).

Theres so much they could have done, but dont do anything (relating to the premise, which is similar to everyone else is a returnee). Many things dont really make sense or play out in a way that seems proper, all most as if im reading the play script for a 90s shitty sunday cartoon, as... more>> if nothing that happens ever actual happens, it just takes place so that the MC has something to actual do in the story.

I honestly dont know how else to describe how bad this was, its like something a 6th grader would write for their 10 page story piece in english class, that was than taken and polished slightly. <<less

So clearly I didn't get very far in before losing interest, should have paid attention to the reviews already up... Don't make my mistake!

So to summarize my issue - the premise doesn't get used at all. In five chapters a few random slice of life school events happen and the fact that the MC is a magical demigod is irrelevant to all of them. Any time it seems like it might come up it gets glossed over completely.

...?

A good plotline, but moving at a snail pace, can read all the chapters in an hour, and still feel like all of the story is basically just starting.

Most of it is like a generic japanese, slice-of-life type progression

Really not that interesting. The premise is alright, guy gets left behind in the modern world with fantasy powers, there are definitely a few interesting scenarios you can build from this like a second class summoning where the MC has a headstart because of his past. But it just goes downhill with every chapter you read. The first major problem is the MC's powerscaling, from the moment he got his powers from the god he was in an entirely different league that the other heroes who were actually summoned. Why?... more>> I DON'T f*ckING KNOW and I am not sifting through this tr*sh heap for the undoubtedly boring explanation we may or may not get. His power consists of a very accelerated growth rate (because having a character need to invest time and effort into getting strong is cringe as f*ck) and the power to make any magic he f*cking wants. Now, if there are any aspiring authors reading this review I am going to give you one piece of advice.

N E V E R give your MC an ability like creating any magic they want. Because every confrontation turns into this

"why isn't he making a magic to put all the terrorists to sleep?"

"Why isn't he making a magic to investigate who sent these monsters, or where they came from, or a way to block them from spawning."

"why isn't he making magic to bind the spy to a certain area so she cant escape?"

If you give someone a seemingly omnipotent power and then they don't use it to solve their problems it makes them look like a tool. This is doubly effective when you emphasize his ability to memorise an entire curriculum and yet he still can't comprehend basic critical thinking. When it comes to abilities like these you need to properly define to yourself and the reader where the limits of that ability are otherwise the character with that ability will end up being perceived as a fool.

Speaking of fools, our MC in this novel is a fitting example. His main character traits are sleeping all the time, indifference to practically anything other than sleeping all the time, apparently being a prettyboy and being a dick. Now I do not like the traits on this MC but I'd just like to say that I don't consider these traits to be especially bad for a character in general. I've seen them used well to make an interesting and funny story it's just that this guy is not that likable to me. Look, he left this girl alone in the middle of a terrorist raid on his school. Y'know, because there's n o w a y that any of them would come to the roof is there? It's not like you literally just got off the phone with a detective who told you that the terrorists in question ordered a helicopter. A vehicle that maybe, juuuuust maybe would land, oh I don't know, on thE f*ckING R O O F. And OF COURSE, why would you ever place any protection for her or even just check if any of the bad guys are moving toward the roof when you could teleport away and only realise that she's about to be r*ped a second before the guy takes her clothes off. Because preparation is for simps and we need an excuse for the girl to like him.

Oh and that bullsh*t about 'I hAte pEoPLe WhO mAkE SeRiOuS aTMoSpheRes' is so f*cking conceited. Like what the hell are you expecting kid?! They're f*cking TERRORISTS! THEY'RE NOT GONNA BE CRACKING PUNS WHILE THEY THREATEN TO BLOW A HIGHSCHOOLERS HEAD OFF, ARE THEY?!

Anyway, his 'indifferent' attitude is also bullsh*t since he coincidentally switches to anime protagonist when there be b*tches to gain. An indifferent person wouldn't go out of their way to cheer up someone who was trying to merc them not even 5 minutes ago. I would know because I'm one of those people.

Even the 'harem' antics are boring and trope-y. And this dude straight doesn't deserve this shit, that's the only thing I feel when reading it. Power? Arbitrary luck, barely any training done either. Girls? The anemic girl got treated as an afterthought during a crisis, you don't deserve the clout from saving her from a situation you could've easily prevented. And only a few hours of interaction and all of them already want to slide onto that D. F*ck off. Oh and he's a dense protagonist too so that instantly brought the rating down another star. At least make it so that he's indifferent to romance so he pretends to not notice, instead of that horseshit. Stop acting like a coward and try to put some actual romance in your stories for once.

To summarise, if you're sick and tired of the typical isekai harem trope bullsh*t pass by this mediocre novel. <<less

I am the kind of person who would generously give 5 stars even to the worst kind of novel if it's underrated but has a good plot or at least good potential.

But this is absolute shit. "my entire class"..... that gives you an idea. This is meant for kids whose entire world revolves around their school life. But the only thing related to the school or class is harem development. And since the author knows that he's not getting anywhere, he decided to include the little sister element to lure... more>> in loli-siscons.

I decided to read the manga first and then go for the novel if it's tolerable, but I couldn't get past the 8th chapter. It's just one garbage of a story with no plot. The first 3 chapters were promising, but then the author just lost it.

If you are 16 or younger and you like novels like 'hundred'. You can give it a try, there's a chance that you might like it. <<less

This novel is mostly slice of life comedy with an isekai twist rather than anything else. The story is slow paced and there are periods of fun alternating with periods of boring chapters. I like the fact that it is not a standard isekai, but one which is located on Earth. Overal this is easy to read non-tension slow paced joy read.

If I have to say what is bad about this novel, is that the chapters are pretty short and very little happens in them. The dense part of MC... more>> is annoying, but not the degree that it kills the novel. MC is actually pretty smart in general and the only part where gets s*upid are the girls. Therefore the romance here is quite mediocre. The girls like him, he kinda likes them back, but somehow not romantically. Also, it is shown that he is actually attracted to at least one of them.

MC is super OP so there is no feeling of danger or tension. He got a skill that lets him accumulate experience by sleeping. I honestly don't care about this kind of stuff as long as I am getting entertained, and I did get entertained by this novel.

What I don't understand is how people who come to read an isekai novel about gods, magic and different world complain about novel not being realistic. I mean come on, this is pretty much the staple of the genre to get dense OP MC with a harem. However, unlike some other novels where MC is just ret*rded, this one actually have brains, he just consciously decides not to get romantically with girls.

The characters of this novel are somewhat flat, but in my opinion, we know just enough about them to get a grasp of their personality and who they are. In addition, the story gets more interesting after the first 100 chapters. There does not seem to be an established plot at the moment, but the novel is getting there. I mean why would you have to have the end goal of the novel established from the very start? I don't have a problem if the story slowly shows you the main goal a bit later, like discovering some sort of hidden plan or hidden baddy that you didn't know about. At the moment it looks like there is something hidden going on there, so I am still interested.

Overall I like the novel despite it having a lot of boring parts. It is not that great of a novel, but good enough to quickly read through and kill some time <<less

tr*sh. The only word I can use to describe this work is tr*sh. Total Utter tr*sh. I expected so much more from the premise so it was quite a shock when chapter after chapter I just find tr*sh. The major love interest at the time of reading fails in every aspect of the word to be called a human being; she simply plays the role of a love interest to bring some life to the dead story. the MC is boring asf, Even for a self fulfillment story this one... more>> fails to display any element that will make anyone want to live this life: wake up with ur sister who you have been living with since childhood, who as it seems just happens to like u since u saved her from a couple of bullies like 6 years back, go to school only to sleep and then still pass with perfect grades, like you would expect him to have some flaw in his character but nope the only flaw he has is his density. for someone who sleeps in class to pass and have the knowledge to teach someone else... absurd to say the least.

Then on to the most absurd thing about it: The opness

For me this has never really been a problem in some jp novels, though most you find just over exaggerate the abilities of the main character and basically throw everyone else under. Some writers just don't have the creativity to create abilities and a good power scaling in their universes, the result being this god-forsaken shit. The MC needless to say is on a path to become far stronger than the gods, needless to say There are quite a few problems with that:

1. he doesnt want to (sleeps all the time)

2. no training or determination as well as no stated desire or reason to gain strength

3. s*upid gods who for one reason or another cant just strip him of his f*cking power

I have a lot more problems with this story and I cant write them all down cos no one is gonna read all that but if u r someone that isnt just looking for a good read but u are looking for something wwith a goo story pls dont go through this torture. It isnt worth it <<less

This is... I have no words that can explain my intense disappointment. This novel started off good, then a few chapters in it went to shit. This is the kind of story that makes you wonder "how is this guy an author, and how does his editor still have a job?". The translator left it for a year and a half. Instead of continuing the translation, they should've let it die.

It was an ok story... the latest last 3 chapter was the ending and it felt slightly tacked on just for the sake of needing a closure after a 2 year hiatus... its not one of those stories that is super thrilling, its more of a daily life of this guy who got cheats while staying in the modern world... saying anything more is kinda a spoiler... its the generic OP MC but instead of flexing it at the beginning, he is just living life in the modern day world...... more>> still enjoyable enough for my tr*sh taste... 5/5 would read again...

BTW the last translator asian hobbyist messed up the chapter number so ignore it. becauss the last 8-9 chapters is still untranslated...

The last 3 chapter was recently done to finish the story. it was a hiatus on 177 for 2 years... so I don't know why there is a hiatus tag on ch180... when it was recently posted and it was the ending... <<less

Its ok, It can be made better but I think this is as far as the story goes because the MC literally gets the ability to get stronger as he sleeps. That is an early sign its gonna be a slow paced story, the progress might be slow but it sure is meaty. Its not wrong that the series gets a 5* but it isn't right to give it anything lower either.

Conclusion: Its a good read for people who like slow paced stories, this is the type to get axed... more>> but is good at the same time. <<less
