ML has his own insecurities about MC feelings for hime but fret not MC is there to show his love hihi. I love their combo and ML really dotes and MC. MC as a past scholar and empress also have his strong points. So this is a worth a read, I like the arc when they are escaping fr kidnappers aahaha it's like they are just on a date.

The novel is very enjoyable. It is interesting to follow up on the acceptance of the characters for the new era, suitable for those who do not want a novel in which there are many twists and turns.

Overall this is pure <u>fiction</u>. It’s a fantastical popcorn read: it can never happen in real life and it’s only for entertainment.

I was really hesitant to read the novel because of the reviews... Especially the racism that everyone mentioned. But because this novel is sitting in my reading list for a long time and I really wanted to read it for a long time I just decided to give it a go. But after reading I must say the reviews about racism is too much as the translator did an outstanding work doing the translation... And the racism actually didn't affect that much as the reviews says (Though I don't know... more>> about the raws and can't comment on that)

Now comes the novel. It's particularly good. In some ways there's too much to be true and some ways it didn't have any logic and the author just did it as they pleased but giving that its a fiction I really didn't mind and enjoy through and through...

The characters are good MC and ML character is portrayed very good... I like this kinda characters the most. Othes were good as well and not much drama or anything. A good read. <<less

The part that I like and will read again, is the one with his father, the 'concubine' lol and 'concubine' daughter. Too bad, after dealing with the women, even his father part was cut short.

Too much holes in the plots. One time ML is dealing with his family in USA, then go home to China, and those problems in USA goes poof, wont be mentioned again. Then, the big problem that makes ML to come home, just get shelved and locked and solved 2 or 3 chapters before final ep, and it was soooo lame solving!

But, I still will read the part SX deals with his family aka his womanizing father problems. And YT big family that each struggling to grasp power.

Ah, several reviews mentioned abt racism, well let's be real and think about it. Even most of Americans are racist with their own people. The author is Chinese, I'd never expect the author to write a glorified America and maybe the author just like everybody is too biased to see outside his/her own countrymen. <<less

A very fluffy and sweet romance that spawns thousands of years. All the reincarnated individuals are funny, the main couple works out the barriers that didnt allowed them to show their love freely now that there arent ministers and naggy politics to drag them down. The translations get better with time, so dont be discourage when reading it!

This is such a cute, sweet novel. There's a bit of drama but I loved how the couple was able to resolve their misunderstandings from their past life when they reincarnate. Don't read this book if you're looking for anything deep - the author is just delivering a humorous fluffy romance. The small threaters at the end of some chapters were especially adorable and really added to the characterization of the couple.

It works in this story because what the emperor wants is usually what the "empress" secretly wants as well, but this isn't commonly the case in real life. At least you get the sense that the "empress" has the ability to reign in the emperor when he really objects.

The other thing, which is common in Chinese books (especially one's that need to get past censors) is the nationalism. The fan translation does a good job of dialing back some of the cringe-worthy parts, but it's still there, especially when the setting changes to the US.

Regardless, the novel left me in a wonderful mood. I only wish the author had fleshed out some of the side characters more. I loved the secret body guard and the butler and the two actors who act out their story and the calligraphy grandfather. If they had side stories this novel would have been complete.

I would rate the story a 4.5 and the translation a 3.

I found myself skimming the translations to get the general gist, but some of the humor still comes through. If I hadn't gotten hooked by the great first couple chapters, I wouldn't have bothered.

Also, in case other people get confused like me, italics with numbers in front are translator notes, while italics without numbers are flashbacks or character thoughts. I did appreciate the translator doing the extras and mini theatres. <<less

This is one of the stories that I will read over and over again. Since theres already many review I wont say anything else and just add this to add positive points for the story since its so great and there are almot half trabslated chapters out so ur not missing out on anything

From same author of 'I have amnesia, don't be noisy', one of my favs... One of the most interesting thing about this novel is that both protags transmigrate from ancient times, along with some other characters and it's quite funny how this group of transmigrators manage to adapt to the modern world but still retain much of their past relationship dynamics as well as their jobs.

MC views the modern world with his 'ancient china' mentality and is quite forthright about it. ML is more modern but that's because he recovered his past memories 5 years ago and had time to adapt. It was so funny how as soon as ML met MC, he immediately treats MC exactly like before, regarding him as his court official and assigning him tasks lol.

MC's dad is also a well defined character, not likable but quite representative of a fickle womaniser, weak-willed, weak-minded, and quite foolish. Not exactly evil but not redeemable either.

Translation by CG is great but I did not like that the translator toned down what he/she percieves as racism or discrimination in this book. Authors have the freedom to write whatever crap they want. What constitutes offensive is up to the reader to decide and not for the translator to censor. Isn't this what freedom is all about? <<less

First, I would like to say that if you are a sensitive person and empathize with people who experienced racism or a victim of one, then this novel is definitely not for you.

I am an insensitive and have barely empathy type of person that's why I managed to give a blind eye to the racism here but there really is one.

Aside from racism, some outbursts of the ML were really just unreasonable. The one that really made me uncomfortable was when ML broke the very first gift he gave to MC just because of jealousy. I just wished the quarrel at that time is a little bit longer to make the ML more sorry because of his behaviour. But I think the root cause of all this issue is miscommunication. MC rarely speaks about his feelings is their past life and he continued this deeply rooted behaviour in the first half of the novel which made the ML VERY INSECURE. ML's insecurities that stemmed from MC not communicating with him about his true feelings made the insecure ML to have unreasonable outbursts in the first half.

But don't worry, the miscommunication is gradually improving throughout the story and MC is opening up little by little his feelings from the past to the ML which is always very cute because the ML is always stunned or having very foolish reactions.

All in all, I personally enjoyed reading this novel despite its problematic parts. If you can do that then you can also enjoy it too 😉 <<less

It was a nice read. The America Arc was hilarious and kind of unnecessary but hey, you gotta showcase how powerful ML can be in and out of China. Aside from the hilarity of it, I'm a sucker for established relationships, even one that transcends time, so I'm glad I finished this.

Yes, I do understand other people's qualms with how overbearing the ML can be, but honestly, Yu Tang is so tame compared to other "overbearing-tyrant" type characters I've read about in other novels.

It's a light weight good novel.. After dropping out so many novels after reading some chapters, I completed this novel. Because so many Yaoi novels have same story line & same scenes. But this is different. It's about reincarnation of an emperor & his male wife. I enjoyed it a lot. I felt it got very low rating.

Emperor and empress reincarnate into modern day. It was fun watching them get used to the new language changes and still stick to certain old words in conversation. A lot of the characters were intresting and although the story I'd wholesome it had drama here and there to keep the story intresting. It followed MC and ML from high-school to past university until their wedding which not many stories do in my opinion which was unique fun.
