I agree with Vretzel on this, this story may seem like God and Devil world but it's actually very different, furthermore it was released earlier than GDW in 2010 so I don't see how it's a copy. There's plenty of blood and gore in this so it's not really for the faint hearted but I'll give it two thumbs up for the fast pace and brutality thus far, just my cup of tea.

Review @chapter 15

I like how people call this a carbon copy of GDW when GDW is such a shitty novel, kinda funny to have such standard. Even more funny when GDW was written AFTER KGGD.

Anyway, about the novel, the start is kinda fast paced and the characters lack a lot of building so it’s kinda hard to relate to them. Otherwise, action scene are well written and the story is kinda simple and straight so it’s still a fun read. A lot of potentiel, hoping things get a bit slower... more>> so characters get more interesting.

The translation is well done, nothing to point here. <<less

It's a survival story with gaming elements thrown in there.

So far, it's almost all action and no thinking, which gets a little annoying imo. Everybody reacts violently or not to the horror of their situation and the MC just goes along with the flow, but no one thinks.

There's a universal lack of maturity/empathy/common sense from all these young adults and the few middle-aged characters we encounter.

Spoiler

The group is thrown in another world were killing a few low-level monsters gives a huge power-up to rookies while these monsters become all but worthless to the veterans who kill them without a problem, and but for one inexplicably solitary instance, no one thinks of farming these monsters for the noobs.

Meanwhile, the thousand students wait quietly for their death in the school, not trying to equip themselves, or build traps or do anything productive...

EDIT:
Dropped as of c89, the story is going nowhere, and the characters' reactions are too badly written and unrealistic for me to care anymore... <<less

The first really s*upid thing I remember was, when the MC and his team wanted to exit the campus for the first time, how much easier their life would if they just let monster in one by one, gang it and distribute the XP by letting the weakest to deal killing blow? And how difficult to build makeshift weapon like spear made of sharpened pipe or other sharp melee weapons from all stuffs in campus ground? They're just like headless chicken, runing around in panic.

I refuse the believe all personal... more>> in a small campus none has experience in vandalism, or being hooligan, or creative destruction, or misspent youth in underworld. <<less

The evolution works like this. You kill a monster and acquire Strange Energy/Qi/Experience in one small part of your body. You begin at level 0, and you collect energy to level up. As you level up, which is hard to do, you gain energy for strengthening the body and unique personal skills, and a mutation, starting from a part of the body like the hand, foot, head or chest, and grows as you level up.

Those with strange enery are called black iron warriors. There should be silver and gold after iron, but we have yet to get to it in the translations.

Also, power leveling a large group is impossible. Why will be revealed later, so don't question why don't they do it.

There is also a interesting twist to the evolution factor I've never seen done before where it explains why just by entering a fantasy world you can suddenly gain all these mystical powers. To support this rapid power of evolution and super powers, your life force gets drained rapidly. From the moment you become part o the KGGD system and gain powers you have three months to live. The first two months you don't notice a thing, but during the last week or so you begin to rapidly age and experience agonizing pain the makes you beg for death. The key to avoid this is to either acquire items to compensate the loss of life force, Time Money, or make a contract with a fallen God type creature who will suspend the loss of life force, although if it dies all the contractors will die as well. As one character described it, "Once you embark on the path of evolution, you either succeed and evolve, or die".

Monsters are very strong and ruthless. Don't listen to reviews about having trouble against goblins. A goblin can kill a full grown man with ease. The next level of goblin can literally punch through a normal human body and has great reflexes. This game if you can call it that does not ease you in. I don't get why other people even bring us GDW. This is not at all similar. There isn't even an apocalypse. Apocalypse is a modern or advanced society that one day falls apart for whatever reason. Monsters or killer zombies. This is transportation. Also, the game element is so small you forget its there. You don't even hear a system voice till chapter 15 or so. No stats or skill books. Just three equips after 100+ chapters.

Some question the varying level of power between characters, but its natural. There's no party system similar to G&DW, so the last killing blow goes the XP, except for rare exceptions. The main character takes the best kills since only he can enter a fight with them and win for the most part, and can rarely give the kills away, and the rest take his scraps in the beginning till they learn how dangerous and foolish it really is to rely only on the MC. Very realistic as opposed to stories where male and female characters are badass from start, or just need a few chapters to become one. This novel doesn't rush the story. No system to tell them the rules, the ultimate goal, or a kind noble woman, farm girl, or old man you just happen to meet in the middle of no where who helps you along. Its a blind transportation into the wilderness which is rare and quite interesting to see in this era of web novels. Character just have to adapt best they can after entering a monster filled forest world with no end or information to go on. And so they are clueless and have no goal other than trying to escape for the first 150 chapters. Realistic approach for a group abandoned in a new world, but for those not used to a story not spoon feeding you step by you may feel the work is bad.

Very good, but warning, you have to endure 50 chapters to get yourself settled in. Not only does it take almost 20 chapters to really get how the evolution and power ups work, conversations are shallow till the group cut down to 10 fighters. Also, the author begins to improve as the novel goes on. I get the hate, but now that there are over 170 chapters you don't feel the story is going nowhere. You just keep reading till it grows on you.

It has the same concept as God and Devil’s World, but this novel feels way more like a death/horror game and is way less mature.

The MC character is also really strange. Sometimes he acts like a shounen guy who gets stronger just by thinking about his loved ones (and all the other things that are supposed to be in a shounen MC), but other times he acts like a coldblooded veteran soldier.

First off let me point out that I've read up to the current chapter and plan on staying with this series; I have also read up to chp 193 in God and Devil world. Unless GDW takes a huge turn from its setting of a changed Earth the simliarities between these two series are negligible and from the comments I've read it seems like the similiarities pointed out can be attributed to any modern day wuxia novel. The only similarity, up to the current translated chapter, that I can obviously... more>> see between KGGD and God and Devil world is the name, bith series have chinese characters, and show the real violence of fighting instead of watering it down or not focusing on it like most series do. The people who think KGGD and GDW are similar probably didn't read much into this, and by that I mean they didn't get past the title. If you read the summary you'll instantly know the difference, in GDW gods or devils or whatever change Earth (our world) while in KGGD parts of Earth get s**ked into another world by 'Sky Holes'. KGGD is different from GDW, read the first ten chapters of both and its super obvious.

Now for my actual review of KGGD. The story for these first chapters, so far, is simply survival its sounds basic but its full of smaller plots (over arching main quest, running across side quests). The characters start off basic then adapt to the new situation, some adapt well others can't handle it. The action is detailed, akin to GDW, with gore written in:
Spoiler

This tall and big bloke was the school’s sports teacher and he was fit but after suffering from the green creature’s blow, his sternum broke as his chest caved inwards, blood could be seen flowing from his mouth, nose and ears.

The monster's are artfully described and imagining them is relatively easy. The dialogue isn't to wordy but gets its point across and the author doesn't spend paragraphs meaninglessly stretching out simple sentence.

Overall this novel is a nice change of pace from the regular xuanhuan post-apocalyptic stories, I recommend you read it but once again I have to stress don't go into this expecting a clone of GDW and don't leave this novel for GDW expecting a clone of this. Do what I do, ignore people and start fresh with each novel you start unless the direct author summary says to do otherwise. <<less

I rather like this one, story seems nice, very individual characters too, but it is too soon to say at all. I am quite fond of the mutation system and the way things where “explained” as of now (ch 13) I’d rate it somewhere around 4.5, but I’ll just round it to 5

Just a tiny thing I have to say, it isn’t a copy of GDW, firstly because it was written 3 years earlier than it (GDW 2013, KGGD 2010) and

Spoiler

It isn’t that monsters suddenly appear, the whole college is transported to another world where monsters already exist, the MC and his mates are the “invaders” in this one

Really love KGGD and I'm sad to see its once monstrous release speed slow down, and then stop all together by Faktranslations. Hope someone picks it up soon! Okay, now for my review.

Early chapters felt confusing and I didn't know what I was supposed to be reading and the reason I stayed because it had a lot of chapters translated and now I'm glad I stayed. The fights are fast pace, cool, and realistic. It was sad the author failed to get into how powers work early on, but it... more>> made sense. There was no system voice to help out and any character pre chapter 150 had no idea what the world was about, so they have no idea what the world is about. As one reviewer said this is a blind transportation into a monster and god and devil filled world. Overclock explains this better than me.

The growth of the MC's party is interesting and rarely seen. As oppose the cliche MC gets strong, others get strong later, but doesn't matter as the focus is on the MC and his growth and he ditches them later on (G&D World). The MC is strong and always gets the last kill, so he evolves much faster than others. This was because its very hard to evolve early on and because there's no party system. It's not till the MC is down for the count for some time will the others begin to step up and grow. Not just in power.

One character who views the MC as a rival had once harbored dark feelings towards the MC for growing so faster than him, especially in mentality to fly into danger and act with instinct that could rival hero's of legend. Then after this rival character goes through many close calls, is saved by the MC, and has to stand up and fight without him he acquires a great respect for out MC and now wants the power to not hold him back, and maybe if possible become the strongest if he can. There are many such character growths later on as the author finds his own style of writing.

Lastly, the special powers that appear are amazing and contain much originality.

Spoiler

Mc's main power is to turn his arms into Qi steam power drills temporarily to stab the enemy and rend their flesh. Also has few other abilities; magic eyes, shield, handgun, and arm strength enhancement, but have yet to be upgraded pass the initial stage since he focused on the drill arm's growth path. Gets some cultivation type powers later on. Like holes in body to absorb energy to increase power and regeneration, and a drop of Gold Blood of gods, a higher tier of energy. Also has a earth spike ring and lightning spirit.

For other characters there are missile fist, steel nets, create wasp, bone blade, rune word magic, madusa like powers, turn cookware into deadly weapons, and surgical knifes out of chest. And we're only at chapter 179. Makes me wonder what other crazy sh*t the author will show us.

[collapse]

This is a story very much underestimated by the community and I hope people will give it a chance and for someone to pick it up. Its at least worth binge reading to see if you love or hate, and you will love. <<less

I am dropping this novel due to the mediocre story line.

Power up to nowhere. After a while, I keep asking myself where is this story going?

They are in the forest. Meet troll, goblins etc... power up. Won the fight. Fight again. Power up.

What's the purpose of it all?

Shrouding the Heavens is 10 times better than this.

This novel is definitely not a copy of God and Devil World. This is novel involves the transportation of a group of people not the transition of the world. The first few chapters are quite interesting and fun to read. Not much known about the MC at this point only that he's loyal, has a childhood sweetheart and just got miraculously smart.

Review after 60 chapters. Remains very entertaining. Very similar to God and Devil’s World except the MC hasn’t become an egomaniac (at least not yet) who is the only character of any substance and the only one that does anything. Has all the positives of the early chapters of GDW without the ridiculousness of the later chapters where the MC becomes an inhuman killing machine.

The dialogue, thinking, and actions of the characters are actually realistic. I don’t know why 8psycho thinks that 1st and 2nd University students are in their... more>> twenties but in fact they would be 17, 18 perhaps 19. They act appropriate to their age and the fact they have landed into a scary and strange situation.

I am really looking forward to where this series goes. I highly recommend it up until now. I also love the translation rate. Hope it stays at its current pace. Took them 22 days for 60 chapters. <<less

This story is terrible. The world the author creates makes no sense. People level up randomly. Goblins somehow have ridiculous strength, not to mention everything else. The plot is just ret*rded. It makes no sense.

The idea behind the story is just so terrible it ruins everything. It's like the author decided 'let's make a shitty story where bad things happen' and went from there. It seems like there's no planning involved. The only noteworthy thing is that the relations between the three main characters is rather good. That's it.

Everything else... more>> is just full of so much sh*t it reeks. <<less

Plain and simple it is a good story. Very different from GDW but has some similarities. But even still it has it parts that make it stand out. I have read to chapter 65 and so far it is very exciting. I would advise for you to give it a chance and see if it is to your taste.

Another entry into the "students in monster world" genre. All in all, it's mediocre at best. I've come to expect the overwhelming self-pity, selfishness, and lack of empathy in this genre from Chinese writers. The problem is that every single author in the genre seems to ape another's story, as a result, they're all pretty much the same. Unlike GaDW has game mechanics, while KGoGaD has mechanics more close to self-evolution (?) which is fine at first but get's a dull quickly since the author doesn't explore them enough. One... more>> thing KGoGad has going for it is that the MC lacks the senseless cruelty present in most of the genre. Refreshing.

The overall fail of most of these stories, however, is the absolute idiocy of all the characters involved. Cooperation to restart civilization? Forget about it. Let's throw out all the things learned in school, forget thousands of years of human trial and error, science, and more and revert to caveman days of everybody out for themselves. <<less

The novel has an interesting setting, but is mediocre at best in all aspects. The mix between being teleported to another world, RPG and Xianxia has potential. The rest? Not so much.

Like a lot other web novels the characters are rather bland and one dimensional. The MC is just bearable for me. And what's with the Chinese writers and the lack of intelligence and common sense of the characters? These guys are supposed to be from a university, not some middle schoolers. Just annoying. And despite the fact that I... more>> don't expect empathy at all in Chinese novels, the lack of it is still baffling.

So, you also can somehow expect the usual tropes known from Xianxia. Every chapter someone is "shocked" or "awed" and some power up with a s*upid name will be there eventually. I'm still waiting for "tr*sh" to appear. Lol

Well, the writing is not great, the dialogues are too flat, but the setting still makes it entertaining enough to be a filler between good novels.

It is ok with low expectations. <<less

I say this novel is ok they may say its like GDW but its a whole different world where there is a whole different things that could happen it has potential check its straight forward but there is no character building I just feel like the character will just pop out some new traits and it has too much loopholes. I just dont mind them but some character feels like too unnatural.

Pre-dates GDW. Unique energy concept. I see a lot of low reviews complaining about the pacing even though only 9% of the story has been translated so far. Doesn't make any sense wanting the entire plot laid out in chapter one of a book... The concept of the story is great, perfect filler novel to read to pass time..

In the beginning I loved the concept and how it gave me a highschool of the dead vibe, however, it just seemed to go downhill from there and I finally got bored of waiting for the MC to wake up from plot while the author used that opportunity to power-level the rest of the crew instead of doing both concurrently.
