Wonderful story about a girl, Murong Yun Su, who's father died and is left all alone to try and manage the affairs of the Murong Sect. She isn't a cultivator though, she actually isn't part of the martial arts world in this. She just wants to make money and then count it. (Which sounds good to me) However, this story is refreshing because despite not being the cliche of "cultivating to be the strongest" and stuff, she still has to face adversaries that are more powerful than her, have strong... more>> cultivation, and they are all absolute d*cks. What's more, she wins against them and even deserves to be slightly feared. Of course, originality isn't the only thing that I love about this book. One word: ROMANCE.
Spoiler

Immediately after she gets dumped by that s*upid crown prince and has her betrothal broken, she gets a message from the lovely man called Chu Zhang Ca who is well known to be the leader of the Mo Jiao Cult. Also being well known for being very powerful, having many enemies, and super arrogant. However, as the summary above tells you, MYS saved CZC 3 years ago and something happened between the two of them and CZC loves her to death. (It gives us a brief flashback in the middle of it, so not much is known. It starts 3 years after the incident.) As the story goes one, she does slowly start showing the love too, but as people get to know about it, CZC's enemies get a whiff of this too. Some royal scheming (and I mean literal royal, as in some fighting for the throne between some princes) also drags MYS into danger. At one point she even gets poisoned!! (Still angry about it) Still, the romance shines through all the bullsh*t moments and warms the heart.

[collapse]

Highly recommended, someone please pick the translation back up. The old translator sadly got abused by people trying to get monetary gain from her work and shut her site down. Still, read what's already there, it's already really good. <<less

This is such an odd but awesome comical read. Each chapter is short, and it's mostly dialog, so it ends up feeling like a whirling farce about the romance between two people who are perfectly terrible and perfect for each other.

This novel wasn't well translated, there is barely any detail on what the heck is going on. I am confused about what is going on in this novel.

Update:

Originally had 2 star.

Gave this novel another shot cause have nothing to read. I still can't tell whether I like this novel or not even though I laugh at some parts. I can't really feel the flow of the story or understand the MC's thinking, or about her money situations.

Mm... I'm dropping it. Both the FL and ML are sassy. They're the kind of blunt and tricky characters I like. But I'm 12 chapters in and still there's no plot in sight? Or should I say, there is one but it's very boring.

Good characters can make up a large deficit of a story, but not all of it.

Maybe I'll give it a shot again in the future. But for now, I'm not really impressed.

Kudos to the translators.

What could I say about this novel... I'm not entirely sure, where to start... the FL is like too calm and she gave me the feeling that everything doesn't reach her eyes. Nothing is important for her except money (?)

All in all, where is the spice?

At first I was skeptical, is this your typical black belly husband with slight romance and cultivation world. Boy, I was wrong!

They didn't even married yet, but their interaction is so hilarious and harmonious that made me reading for more.

This isn't your typical romance novel but definitely could satisfy your need for it!

Just hoping the translator could be so kind and be consistent with the novel release! T_T I cannot read chinese at all and had to depend on the kind translator benevolence.

I love FL. She is, indeed, smart, but it's not so much that it becames artificial or impossible. ML and FL are an amoral couple. Not good, no bad, just doesn't care for moral code. Their chemistry is also good. They are careful, but really attracted to one another and not much in sync with their own emotins to understand thay love each other.

The first chapters are not so well translated, so I didn't understand why or how Murang was poisoned. But after some point a very good trabslation and... more>> a comic tone makes up for a vey joyful reading experience. <<less

The style of writing is amateurish. The first 50 chapters are quite chaotic without a clear objective. It's all about the leads going to different cities and the MC getting kidnapped over and over again. MC is very sassy with no EQ and a very smart mouth. ML may have a bit more EQ than her but seem to be less intelligent. The writing gets a bit better after chapter 80. Dialogue is hilarious many times but the style of writing is not to my taste and I will therefore... more>> drop it.

Idk about you guys, but I quite like this one.

It's got that reasonable kind of OP feeling in a historical (wuxia?) setting, with surprises everywhere at the same time. Her reasons for keeping cool might sometimes sound far-fetched, but I'm glad this isn't one of those protagonists where all the readers call her smart despite letting troubles pile up on her. For those who review saying you can't follow her thought process, maybe the comprehension was lost in the translation? Her thoughts look pretty plain to me, like in the... more>> proposal chapter (this isn't spoiling if it's already in the summary, right?), and the rest of her reasons could be categorized into her laziness and her ability to delegate matters to other capable humans.

Although not the most exciting in the action department (everyone else knows how to fight except her) or the romance department (hubby is super doting and teasing occasionally, not every chapter), there are some moments of light suspense (enemies target her all the time, but she's physically vulnerable), adventure (she has to travel once in awhile in a hilariously fabulous carriage), and sufficient Tsukkomi EX (to all servants of the couple).

The main thing I like about this is the unpredictability, even though our MC acts as if she foresaw everything. As the characters repeatedly mention, she consistently lazes and leisures around at the tears of those around her because no one is confident enough to outsmart her nor boss her.

Also, the summary kinda spoils some of the plot. Just read the first paragraph. That's good enough for the summary as an introduction. Summaries are cruel when they tell you about more than the first 15 chapters of plot. <<less
