This novel is good for wasting time and the way MC talk is not annoying, ill rate it 4/5 because the way the ending end is open

It's a little spoiler but bare with me ?

There is no way you will know who is the girl that join him at end of the story but I guess it's the system or the one that put the system at him because at the end of the story he has the high privilege of the system and have a full control of it,... more>> not in the early chapter that the system only assist him to be a host !!! And there is a higher realm at the end of the story to explore but cut it because all mortals and MC is so strong at the end of the story and the author end it because there is no more games or drama that can out match the one he put in the story and bare in mind that the story where the last war is narrative until the end of the story.

You will like it if you like system story or not like it because of some parts of the story,

Just read it ?? <<less

It's supprisingly good! It's a fresh change to the usual boring cliche Chinese novels with ruthless anti-heros and jade skins female clones.

I'm only 200ish chapters in, so I don't know how the author will keep things interesting, but so far, it's been hilarious and addicting for me.

Edit:

... more>> As of chapter 500 I notice 2 problems:

- The author keeps retelling movies (and games to a lesser extend) for word count. This is incredibly lazy and boring, especially when you don't know or understand the plots of said movies. - The author is absolutely racist towards white people and westerners, to the point that he refers to them as barbarians and gives them obnoxious, ridiculous personalities (these westerners give themselves Chinese names in order to appear sophisticated).

I'm gonna call it quit here. <<less

Very good novel. Modern games with real life benefits are introduced to cultivation world. Cultivators and martial artists got addicted to games. I am guessing they will probably stop destroying the sect of their enemies for s*upid reasons in real life as they can pvp and guild war in the games. Spoiler: Pay 2 win incoming.

j/k, it's just RMT.

This novel is about a guy who finds himself in a body of a guy from a cultivation world. One day he wakes up and gets a system which allows him to start a cafe where cultivators come to eat, drink, and enjoy VR experiences of our favorite video games, TV shows, and movies. Along the way he will progress his cultivation while getting various skills and equipment of the game/movie/TV show characters. Seriously guys, this novel is awesome. It kind of reminds me of Gourmet in Another World, except better. Seeing the culture shock of these ancient cultivators being exposed to these video games, movies, and TV shows is hilarious and very entertaining. The main character is given certain cheats that allow him to protect himself,... more>> but still provides a sense of urgency where we want him to power up his cultivation and techniques. Although this is mainly about the cafe and the interactions between customers, there are still some pretty epic battles as well later on. I've read up to about chapter 550 of the raw using the mtl so while I don't know all the details, I do know most of the important stuff regarding this novel. The games can get a little bit repetitive in regards to how things play out, but I still continue to find it very entertaining. My BIGGEST problem with this novel is the sheer amount of characters that are introduced that we are expected to remember. I swear, in the current chapters I'm reading, I only know who, like, half of the characters are. Yes the mtl does make it harder to remember people but I wanna say there are like 30+ reoccurring characters to keep track of (and that's a conservative estimate). Some characters, such as Song Qingfeng, show up regularly so I know who they are, however, some characters that only pop in once in a while leave me racking my brain trying to remember them. Also some characters get dropped and completely forgotten, as if the author realised there were too many characters to juggle and so he got rid of some. Yeah, it can be annoying for sure but not big enough to make the novel bad by any means.

Highly recommended read if you enjoy novels such as Gourmet in Another World but don't expect constant action or romance. <<less

I tend to reserve five stars for exceptional stories but this one is definitely closer to five than four for me. I don't tend to like stories with comedy, so finding one with such a comedic focus that I don't simply enjoy but really like is very rare. The story does tend to be repetitive at times and that's only 67 chapters in. Even so, I'm having fun with every chapter. I like how every now and then you get a bit of info on the larger world, while the... more>> focus remains on the shop. Out of the stories I'm reading on webnovel, it's one of my favorites already. <<less

Still pretty good. Going to continue later. Got kind of repetitive.

Original review at c35:

I should have waited longer before starting this one. This novel is a fun concept so far. I recommend it, but I also recommended waiting for a few hundred chapters to get translated before starting.

4.5/5, though if I had to choose, I would pick 5 rather than 4.

Do you watch reaction videos? More specifically, those reaction videos where people react to food from different countries? That's what this novel feels like.

I don't feel like writing paragraphs right now, so I wrote this in a list format. Keep in mind, I do not have any nostalgia for most of these games, so I will be unable to comment on that.

POSITIVES:

    • It's a fun lighthearted slice of life novel. The comedy is decent.
    • The reactions of the cultivators to the games and
      Spoiler

to modern technologies, and how they implement these in their own world

      [collapse]
      are interesting and entertaining.
    • The characters are entertaining, and some have their own arcs. They aren't the pinnacle of writing, but hey, it's better than a lot of others.
    • Actually credits the creators of the games and shows they use, unlike some other novels. The author clearly loves these games and it shows.
NEUTRALS:

    • MC is just meh. He isn't bad, but he isn't particularly amazing.
    • Spoiler

The ending battle. It's fine but not remarkable.

      [collapse]
NEGATIVES:

    • Racism. Though it's not a lot, just a couple of chapters, and it gets better later on.
    • The reliance on nostalgia. You won't get the full impact without it.
    • Power levels aren't really elaborated on.
    • While some characters are great, some are just meh. A side effect of having that many characters.
    • Spoiler
        • The theme of nostalgia wasn't done well. It appeared at random times and was only really focused on near the ending.
        • Repetitive. It always follows the same formula. MC opens shop. ---≫ Enemy threatens shop. ---≫ MC and/or customers deal with enemy. (Enemy may join customers sometimes)
        • The identity of the woman at the end is too vague.

The first few chapters are fun, but then it gets formulaic and I finally lost interest

I am a gamer and I liked the early chapters because I played the games, but once he decides to open a second cafe it went downhill fast for me, I gave three stars for the nostalgic games

Just like it says, there are classic games, but there is no adventure or anything like that. I don't even remember if he ever goes out. He stays as his cyber all day playing games and watching movies/dramas to gain skills. Most of the time with a lot of reaction from the clients. Nothing more than that from what I remember.

The novel is wholesome. It will make you laugh. It will make you cry. If you skip the boring parts, you'll love it. Unfortunately, there's lots of boring parts, especially near the end. The author summarizes stories/games/tv series and has his cast of characters react to the content of said story. If you haven't read the story he's referencing, it's worse than reading cliff notes. At the start, you won't really notice it because the author writes his summaries in an engaging way since he starts with games, and the... more>> MC can actually do things in the game, so the peanut gallery in the cafe are admiring him, not the botched summary of the work. The plot isn't particularly strong, but it's more of a comedic slice-of-life novel, so it doesn't really matter since readers aren't staying for the plot. They're staying for the character interaction which is great but, like most things in the novel, falls off towards the end.

First 300-400 chapters: 5/5
Last 400-900 chapters: 1.5/5
Overall: 3.5/5

If you're looking to kill time, this is a pretty good novel to read. Once the quality starts dropping, there really isn't a point in continuing because it doesn't get better. <<less

A fun lighthearted story. Almost Utopic resolution of all problems through internet gaming, and all pretty quick so it is a pleasant read early in the morning or just before bed.

When I started reading this novel, it was like Super Cool, but as the chapters continued...
Well, it got more and more boring, honestly, if you like games, are looking for a refreshing and silly reading before bed, then this novel is perfect for you.

Conclusion:
Refreshing novel to read after a marathon of science fiction novels with lots of information.
I ended up forcibly reading to the end, to see how the plot would unfold; if the novel ended before chapter 500, it would certainly be 5 stars.

The novel mixes a slow slice of life style with arcs that are much more serious so if you find that is too much of a whiplash, you might not enjoy this.

The really enjoyable part I find of this is the references to various games/movies in history though quite a number will probably seem quite foreign for those who have not seen any HK fantastical martial art movies and by fantastical, its not crouching tiger style but this type https://www. Youtube. Com/watch?v=Z4A95kVPwP8 or played any of the chinese rpg games.... more>> However a number of english games show up including resident evil

Those who played King of Fighters will probably enjoy the part where Orochi's 97 fullscreen and Kyo Kusanagi's 98 ultimate moves make appearances later on

The story has a underlying theme about unity through the internet cafe as the owner gets pushed by the cafe system into opening cafes in other continents, linking various types of magic users together through live streaming and video calls

Overall, don't take it too seriously and just enjoy the ride and you might find this quite fun <<less

While I agree that this novel was somewhat enjoyable, it becomes boring when it narrates things that I don't know, like the legends of sword and fairy. I played this game because of this novel, and that game was garbage, man, what the heck. This novel is also repetitive and gets boring quickly; it all depends on nostalgia, nothing else. Imagine if those games mentioned in this novel were games that the author came up with. No one would read this, so yeah, you can read this if you have... more>> a lot of free time and nothing else to do <<less

Found myself a fun cultivation novel, with weird game elements. As Fang Qi is transported into a Xianxia fantasy world and forced to run a successful modern internet cafe, by some mysterious pretentious system. Warping the minds of unsuspecting cultivators and turning them into junkies, of what seems to be the author's favourite bits of entertainment from the late 1990s - 2020.

The reader is meant to empathize with pro-gamer Fang Qi, who's forced into this predicament, with little to no reason why. Yet he's written to be far too competent... more>> a main character, constantly dabbing on noobs, that he comes across as a Gary Stu. At least there are more than enough side characters to pick a couple favourites from. But just like how the NPC-like side characters spew out the same trite dialogue, the novel and its concept gradually loses its novelty. The author does try to spice things up with the usual face slapping, some research & development and the occasional war. But one can never forget that even when the situation looks grim, at its heart, this is a comedy. <<less

Its vanilla progress and the way in which games are brought forth are almost great, most of the times I find myself overwhelmed at the situation where characters just start talking of a game without their personality and just appearing to be excited; that's too dull.

The way in which 'troublesome matters' are brought forth of an impeding change of ruler or the end of the world just to be comedy-ed out at the end in the same manner, and as TLTGAW expects you to suddenly care about random, just introduced... more>> characters and their problems doesn't work a penny.

His relationship with male and females seems really nice, nothing about the MC suddenly being attractive and important because of one act of kindness or an act of pride (from where I got), but also weird since everyone just goes 'he is not afraid, he special' and that's pretty much enough to wrap it all up.

Because of these points, though I liked it, especially the games being introduced and having a little bit of introductory chapters in, I'm still not staying as though it may be fun; it also bores me and irks me in the way the entire novel seems to NEED and not HAVE- a story. <<less
