Chi Xiaochi: fourth-rate citizen at birth, three-time award-winning film emperor, second-rate temper, first-class looks.

He crawled his way out of hell on hard mode to become a winner at life.

Then, he was smashed into a vegetative state by a chandelier.

061: Hello, here’s a brief rundown on the scum gong reconditioning system. This system measures the regret level of the scum gong. Every time their regret level reaches one hundred points, you will be able to leave the current world. A friendly tip, usually, through dedication and self-sacrifice, our employees slowly foster a sense of dependency in the scum gongs, gradually making it so the scum gongs can’t live without them.

Chi Xiaochi: How many regret points is a complete loss of reputation and standing worth? How about a fall from grace? Or wanting something but never being able to obtain it?

061: ……

This was one of the first few novels that I read when I first knew about this site, and after reading many other BL novels, including ones of the same genre, I would say that this is still the cream of the crop for me. There are many many points of this novel that just stands out from other works of the same theme.

  1. The MC. I absolutely, absolutely love and adore the MC of the novel. He is smart, cute, sassy, funny, yet endlessly devoted and very empathetic. His very tragic backstory with the ML, his upbringing and his interactions with society very clearly shapes him to become who he is in the present. Kinda reminds me of WWX but with different vibes.
  2. The ML. Not a yandere! Not a yandere! Not a yandere! Good things must be said three times. We are clued in pretty early into the novel as to who the ML is and as the story slowly progresses, his backstory with the MC is slowly revealed. I love the ML because he is so devoted and in love with the MC, understanding and caring and dotes on him a lot. I love these kinds of soft MLs, very romantic.
  3. The story line. The arcs are all pretty well developed and they touch on very important and sensitive topics like
    Spoiler

    rape, pedophilia, su*cide

    [collapse]
. The final arc always makes me bawl my eyes out because what happened was so sad and yet so preventable, which makes the whole thing even more depressing. Honestly not for the faint of heart. Thankfully the story is HE and the fluff kinda cancels out the angst, so it's not that bad... I think.
  4. The side characters are not delved into too much unfortunately but they have pretty interesting characters as well and aren't that tropey.

12 Chapters Read and dropped.

All the positive reviews are completely ignoring the absolute BS going on with MC and System.

Forget the plot of this first world, MC is OOC all over the place.

He claims to want to help the original host, but he's smoking. (When original host sings). He says he won't act out of character, but then uses Hypnosis cards to muddle through his own life, has the system fictionalize a Lou Ying friend [who is the Mc's love? Obsessive crush?] to meet the Villain, spends his time being... more>> lazy watching movies and playing games, wastes points all over the place, and basically makes it so out of 12 chapters we have less than 2 chapters of content about his actual mission.

Novel is boring beyond tears and no one in their right mind should care about the System being formatted or not when this system isn't even smart enough to keep memory records, or even a physical diary to save.

Nonsensical novel 1/10 Annoying MC 1/10 Dumb System 1/10 <<less

I finished the first arc and I could not contain my excitement! One of the best twists on system novels I've ever read. You get a tantalizing set up near the end of the first arc which really changes the mood up from a typical system novel! I wanted to quickly write a review on novelupdates before I dive back into the story and to increase the rating!

honestly, I like this at first and im also expecting more because of 5 star reviews. I love the MC and ML, I think they're very suitable for each other. The MC's humor, kind heart, and cleverness is really attractive. The plot is okay, but it's also predictable. Some parts are boring but it's bearable.

This is such an amazing story that it has made me re evaluate the ratings of other stories.

I absolutely adore this story.

Just as a warning, this story isn't like others in the genre. It covers heavy topics with the realism and complexity it deserves.

... more>> Chi Xiaochi does not play god and lets the owners decide their next steps regarding their abusers, and actively paves the way for them to a brighter, healthier future.

The system 061 is awesome too. Also the other systems are hilarious and great friends. 023 and 089 are hilarious together. (also since 061 is good friend with all systems they too help him within their means)

Chi Xiaochi is the best MC I've ever had the pleasure to know. The premise of this novel is "Scum Gong reconditioning", but in the hands of Chi Xiaochi it is so much more-- rather than revenge, what he truly focuses on is the future emotional wellbeing of the people whose lives he's redeeming. This difference is incredible, because then he treats the lives he temporarily takes over with utmost respect; this is not a frivolous game, nor a simple task-- it's a life.
Chi Xiaochi is the most compassionate and intelligent protagonist I've ever had the pleasure to see. But those types of people are rarely born from happy lives. As the story progresses, we get to see how the Chi Xiaochi of today came to be born, and why he wanted to go back to his world just to sweep a childhood friend's tomb.

061, his system, finds it curious, too. Step by step, world by world, he becomes more and more emotionally invested in his host, and discovers the entire entangled truth underneath it all...

061 is also a delight to see. He sacrifices his energy and hides his pain just so he can help and protect CXC. More details would be in spoilers territory but 061 is so cute haha (especially when he gets kinda jealous lololol) Someone please get me a boyfriend like this
Chi Xiaochi is also a really pragmatic protagonist as he doesn't give in to temptation and slowly but surely figures out the plot of the Lord God (Pig brain).

The writing is really great and the world building and character development is one of the best I've seen in Chinese novels especially. The foreshadowing and clues scattered around make us readers invested along with the MC as he slowly uncovers the truth.

Go and read it everyone it's definitely worth it <<less

wow! Tbh, I didn't expect myself to like this novel as much as I did.

one of the main reasons I was reluctant to start reading thus was because I never rly liked the genre of QT; the idea of not having 1 main storyline/ML bugs me a lot. HOWEVER!
Spoiler

this is a 1v1 novel, and the ML is the system (who used to be mc's bestfriend)

[collapse]
SO IT WORKS QUITE WELL (you'll see as you read on). I really enjoyed the fact that the MC never truly gets attached to the worlds he has the tasks in. Plus he is also very considerate towards the original hosts body. It just has a not-your-ordinary-QT vibe to it (if that makes any sense lmao).

as for the MC himself, I truly like his character. He's not a perfect, righteous god, he doesn't do s*upid sh*t for the sake of 'humanity' or anything of the sort - although he still has a bottom line. He's also not those cold beauties who's super duper op, marty sue type of thing. He has flaws, but most of his actions are properly calculated; incredibly confident. He doesn't hesitate to put people in their places, albeit he always has backup plans (and 061). In short, he's a 3d character who's not overtly OP, just a smart person who's been through many schemes. Very well written! in my opinion, the way this novel is written is mind-blowingly good, and even if you don't like the QT genre (like me lol) this would still be very entertaining!!

in addition, +1000 points for the amazing translation owo!! Baumkuchen!! Ily!! CG, ily!!!! ≪3

One of the best quick transmigration novels I have ever read. The plot is super interesting and detailed. Plus the translation is extremely good. It makes for a compelling reading. I am an impatient person, usually if the novel is still being translated and the chapters are unavailable I spoil the rest of novel because I wish to know more. But for this novel I was unwilling to spoil it for myself. Thats how much I like this novel and want to read it.

Nice story so far; the MC is calm, has humane feelings, and retains a desire to go back to his og world.
Spoiler

The thing is, the time MC will spend in various worlds is equivalent to how much time goes by in the mc's og world. Therefore, the MC has the motivation to complete system tasks as fast as he can.

Great start, I'm hoping the rest will be just as dazzling.

This will probably rival my love for FOD (blasphemy!).

It is set with almost the same premise as FOD, a host gets paired with a system, and after completing 10 worlds, the Lord God will grant one wish to the host.

The host needs to help the people to counter attack against despicable scumbags of a gong and raise the Regret Meter of the slag gongs to 100 point before they could go to a new world.

The MC really reminds me of Zhou YunSheng of FOD. Arrogant, lazy, super intelligent, charming, playful,... more>> and doesn't take the easy way out when counter attacking.

The System however isn't like any I have read (Thank God). He is a gentle, charming, hardworking, innocent, warm cinnamon roll and must be protected at all cost!! (T^T)

Anyway, there seems to be a history between the two of them, but both of them don't realise it because memory swipe. #A$$HoleLordGod.

Anyway, why you should read this:

  • MC and system are so funny and warm together. But they are just friends. Yup.
  • The heartache of the host shou will push you to want to personally kill the scum gong.
  • Conspiracy between the Lord God and the system worlds.
And I'm reading all this on MTL so imagine how good reading the translation will be. <<less

Sigh... The plot, characters and everything were super interesting but I had to drop it bc of the fricking FLASHBACKS. More specifically it was the flow of the story that annoyed the hell out of me, for example in the first arc I was super invested in the progression of the plot of the first world but then my immersion was interrupted with all the foreshadowing, the setting up of the main antagonist, the MC & ML backstory that the author just had to slide in between the first arc.... more>> I just couldn't bring myself to care for all of that when I'm more invested on the plot of the 1st world.

I preserved and continued on to the second arc and I thought that since the author had established all the important things in the first arc, in this second world, the story would focused more on the plot of the second world but NO, almost every chapter (iirc) there were snippets of the MC and ML flashbacks and it just drove me f*cking insane! Even the conversation between the ML and MC made me mad, because I wanted the story to focused more on the plot of the 2nd world rather than their mysterious whatever backstory.

I think why this bothered me so much is bc what I like about QT novel is the various worlds and the variety of different plots they provided, here the QT aspect basically served as a sub-plot and the main plot is the MC and ML romance and their mysterious backstory... which is not what I wanted from a QT novel.

The story is really great though, I will probably pick it up again when I have the right mindset for it. <<less

The reviewer before me already said everything I wanted to say...I'm planning to read some other QT novels before I continue... because I don't think I'll be able to fully enjoy other good QT stories after reading this great work... It's not that I'm looking down on the other QT stories but seriously this one takes it to a whole another level... not only the Plots, MC and ML are portrayed very well but also the villains are not 1D and only needs MC to snap his fingers to vanish...... more>> also the translation quality is really good... Waiting for the translation to complete... and also this is my very first review in any platform and also I'm not really good with my words, so I probably didn't express myself well... so read some more reviews if you want to get a more clear picture of this novel... <<less

I love the writing, but it's only into chapter 5 that I feel like crying. I might not be emotionally stable to read this for now. I love all of chrysanthemum garden translation. Might need to take longer time to digest all of this stuff.

Spoiler

Arc 1: I am really grateful that the MC doesn't take the usual route to make the scum gong regret. I act kinda hate it when in other novel where the MC had to act pitiful so that the f*cker will realise his mistake. I hate it when the MC need to pretend to be in love with the as*hole in order to complete the task but thank god in here the scum can go root in hell. Why do I need to pretend to be pitiful when I can be superior.
I love it. I love how the original owner are still living in the body and can proceed to live their life after the MC completed the mission. Act, whenever I read QT novel (I just started recently) I always felt kind of frustrated and sad for the original body since the MC take over their body and live a normal life while them previously are abused and die. So I'm really happy that the original body can now have a taste of happy ending.

[collapse]

Arc 2

Spoiler

The gong here is a psychopath, he act cook the original owner's dog. Now I felt that the gong from the previous world is act like an angel. At least he didn't abuse the MC physically. HAHAHA DIS MF NOT ONLY IS AN ABUSER BUT ALSO A CHEATER. The award of the scum goes to..... Zhou kai. Let's see how this mf suffer. This mf is definitely worst than animal. I can't even describe him and its only A level mission. What abt S level after this. I- the original owner here is so pitiful compare to the previous one. I hope I can give him a hug and stab the man who gave him the pain.

[collapse]

tr*sh bin sound too good for these tr*sh. Should rename it to dont pick up boyfriends from hell... Even hell still sound nice.

3rd arc

Spoiler

The gong in here is not as worse as before. Let just call him human ATM since his regret points provide cards for our MC. Anyway, I don't really care abt him, so far he doesn't have much scene. This one is a bit relaxing compared than the previous two worlds. I felt sad for other original body that other host occupied. Anyway, I like both of the MC and ML in here. Top notch.

[collapse]

Spoiler

The MC is smart but why hasn't he noticed that the ML is that person. I- the frustration I felt rn. I-

[collapse]

Arc 4

Spoiler

The gong here is actually common on bl novels. A possessive scum. (edited: I felt conflicted abt this gong, at one point I hate him and at one point I felt he is pitiful. Im glad the author actually make all of the characters felt alive instead of just being a 2d character) Since this is pretty normal in bl novels nor manhwa, I just thought it's pretty impressive the author actually address this kind of stuff. What the previous original owner has is a toxic relationship. Just because he love you, doesn't mean he can abuse you. Actually, if someone said he hits you in the name of love, just run. In fact, he doesn't love you at all. In the previous arc as well, in the first one, if he doesn't cherish you, hiding you away, you deserve better. Why stay if you're only hurting. In the end, you only have yourself to save yourself. And tbh, because this kind of behaviour (gong in arc 4) is pretty common, I actually have a tiny bit of a pity towards him. He doesn't have anyone to guide him and he is always spoiled, he doesn't know how to treat people but that doesn't mean he will be excused of his crime. I still don't like him because of his action towards the MC but I actually hope someone could teach him that what's he's doing is actually wrong and he needs to know that.

[collapse]

Spoiler

I hope that the gong in this series doesn't has a bad ending. I just hope he learns from his mistake. Idc if he's end up w the original owner or not but I hope he learns whats the definition of normal human being. I hope he learns to let go.

[collapse]

This is definitely my fav QT novels. It's funny sometimes I see people compare novels w FOD. I don't like that novel. It's feel shallow, the MC is selfish. The romance is just there, I don't even know why the heck the MC and ML fall in love.

Arc 5

Spoiler

This gong here is a selfish jerk. The body alresdg got a system so I don't know where ML is. Okay, I knew where he is. I for one is very scared of ghost. But because this novel is very good, I preservere till the end. Its 2 in the morning and I'm currently reading this horror arc

[collapse]

Arc 6

Spoiler

This type of yandere gong is actually pretty common here. He's willing to betray humanity in pretense to save his lover. I don't know what to say actually since it's apocalypse world. It's not easy trying to stay as a kind person.

I don't want to spoil too much about the story but I just want to say my thoughts about the novel.

At first, I actually thought that the story is just going to be the usual transmigrating novel with all the fluff and eventually MC falling in love with ML but I was dead wrong. There's an actual interesting and unexpected plot that makes me really interested in actually finishing it because to be honest I've never stayed to read the ending in a world hopping novel. Because usually it get... more>> repetitive and actually fell flat for me.

The MC has a character that I really like. He's not indifferent nor is he a naive kid that's always confused on how he would finish the task and eventually always needing the system help. When reading his character I can actually feel that he's really mature but not to the point of despising human and the whole world. He can differentiate and draw the line between each person and I think sometimes transmigratting novels or a lot of novels in general tend to portrait their character as an indifferent guy with no simpathy toward others which is good at first but at this point I just feel it's already enough to make me not read the whole novel.

Not to mention, the story between each world always left me with a satisfying feeling even though I know that it's going to happen anyway which I think is good. Each story has its own sentiment and I actually feel very touched knowing the MC is always looking out for the people that deserve it.

Really surprised when seeing the rank of this novel but I really recommend it for those who want a fresh read about transmigration, especially world hopping novel. <<less

I don't like reviewing novels before I finish them, but this might be one of my only exceptions. I have to say that the author of this novel is phenomenal! I've never read any other novel where so much research was done to deliver a coherent and refreshing plot. Most of the other novels usually situate all the settings in China (and sometimes the US) but hardly ever in other countries, but this one goes above and beyond to even research the traditional foods of other countries! In addition, unlike... more>> most other novelists who weave their own racist viewpoints into their novels, Qi Jing Nan Qu actually explicitly shows his/her stance to fight against racism by discrediting racism in the story. As of now, I am completely blown away and I hope that my feeling of the novel stays this way! <<less

I usually try not to leave reviews for novels I actually like until I've finished them since it's easier to extol their virtues that way, but Don't Pick Up Boyfriends From the tr*sh Bin is so unimpeachably good that I'm making an exception.

For any well-reviewed, popular novel, the fear is always that it doesn't live up to the hype, but this one absolutely does. It is the single, best quick transmigration novel I've ever read, bar none, and by itself, it stands in my top three favorite webnovels I've ever... more>> read. It completely elevates its genre, and simultaneously makes me want to read more QT novels and also never read another QT novel again because nothing can possibly top this. It's that good!

As for why, others have given detailed reasons already, many of which I agree with 100%, but I'm going to join in the love parade here, because I want to gush.
    1. While this is nominally a revenge story, the focus for the main character really isn't on the revenge aspect. Our protagonist Xiaochi truly, genuinely cares about the people's bodies he inhabits, and his primary goal is never to get revenge for them but rather to help them pave a new future for themselves. He works to his utmost through every world doing this, even going so far as to hold off leaving the world until he's sure he's created new, better choices for the person to take. It's super heartwarming to see.
    2. The actual revenge itself is always perfectly constructed, not just in the sense that it's a brilliant plan (which it always is) but that it's also the perfect degree of revenge. Unlike other revenge stories, nothing that happens to the antagonists ever feels lukewarm or, as is often the case with these face-slapping novels, way too excessive. Xiaochi actually always leaves a way out for these antagonists (i.e. If they choose not the do the terrible thing they did in the previous timeline, disaster wouldn't befall them), though of course most scum still do those things (which is why they're scum), but still. Even the revenge is always the pitch perfect degree of "what goes around comes around" with punishments that always feel like genuinely earned recompense rather than some revenge fantasy. And no deaths! So they can spend a lifetime repenting! Whoo!
    3. The villains feel like actual villains that exist in the world while not being sympathetic at all. They never felt like cartoon, disney villains, but they also never felt like the poor, misunderstood anti-heroes that hollywood is so fond of either. They're actual, real shitty people, with real-life (shitty) reasoning for why they do what they do. Good villains are extremely hard to do, and it just goes to show how great the writing of this is that it feels effortless every time.
    4. This feels like a huge middle finger to the traditional martyr complex/suicidal ideation tendencies of these kinds of stories. Xiaochi, and the overall narrative arc, is heavily critical of those who choose to foster regret through su*cide because the most important thing is living, after the fact. What's the point of getting back at someone if you're dead! That's really what puts this story miles (and miles and miles) above others -- it's absolute belief that life is worth living above all. Even while it remains sympathetic to those who've suffered, it also has absolute faith in their ability to, when given a chance, live a good, fulfilling life.
    5. Oh, and the romance is good too, I guess? The side couple in the figure-skating arc is super sweet, and the main pairing is nice too. (No overbearing, yandere male leads here!) Not what I come here for, but it's worth a mention.
TLDR; if you haven't read this yet, do. It blows almost every other danmei out of the water, and then some. <<less

This is the best quick transmigration novel I've ever read! The MC's way of solving each world is different and incredibly satisfying. It doesn't feel repetitive because it's all well thought out and has their own purpose.

The MC and ML's relationship isn't rushed. It develops naturally and realistically- the slow realization that the person they're looking for is right next to them the whole time. They're both very cute and loveable <3

I highly recommend giving this a try if you enjoyed Quickly Wear the Face of the Devil.

Actually I dont really have anything much to say anymore. Other reviews already said it clearly as a day! This is truly a f*cking satisfying novel about quick wear or quick transmigration. If I had to say, maybe even better than QWTFOD? Just my own opinion though, cause I really like the MC and the ML here, the MC truly a cheming bit*h LOL (but a cute, smart, and cunning one). He doesnt really has a god-like skill in hacking or has a god-like spiritual or physical body. He's just... more>> too good at acting and too smart. He always has many plans ready to launch with many side plans in case something go astray. Maybe he's in par with Detective Conan? LOL, cause he's somehow already thought waay to far ahead, predicting every move his enemies and other Chara. In short, he's thoroughly prepared.

The other reason I like it more than QWTFOD is because the interaction between the MC and the ML, and how the ML is a prince in shining armor every girl want to have, the sweetest ML i've encountered in novels I guess, , probably, LOL. He's not a yandere or possessive madman like many other ML. But, he's always ready to protect and loving the MC.

Ah, I almost forgot about it. This story is also the first that I found such a clear plot about Lord God or the main brain in transmigration system with his/her dirty bussiness being revealed, the understanding about how what and why hosts and systems exists, and the interaction between systems in the space somewhere.

Highly reccomended for a decent BL/danmei novel or transmigrating novel! <<less

All I can say is finding this novel has become a blessing and a curse. A blessing because this stuff is just too damn good that I come and check new chapters once every week, it is just very very addicting. A curse because since reading this, other QT novel just comes off as bad, repetitive, what-the-heck-is-this-plot, especially MC and ML's from other stories they just don't give me character that makes me feel with them. Oh well, this story is an absolute gem.
