One of the best novel I have read so far the story is very good, the characters are interesting, most importantly it's the first time I saw the gimmick of Isekai and game like development used in a pertinent way in a story.
Anyway I could say many things but please by all means don't take my word for granted and read this amazing novel for your self.

Alright, I started reading this back when only the first few chapters were here, stopped for about 2 years, read up to the jarring 5 year timeskip and then I put it down until about last week. And then I started fresh back at chapter 1 and went all the way up to the latest chapter. Now, everyone seems to be put off by the third arc. But so far I can tell you that it's just a slow start and it gets better later on, in my opinion at... more>> least. But the author really dropped the ball on Erica.
Spoiler

Like, Lifa has a talk with her and now Erica is stuck in an endless cycle of self loathing and talking about how she is hollow, that's a faster mindbreak than a girl in a doujin who had a whiff of some monster's aphrodisiac gas.

And now the author has shown that Jutus possibly perfected the ability to astral project himself or at least take possession of another's body in some form or another. Or at least I assume it *was* Jutus in the body of Sarah, the little girl who was in the house when Harold healed her not-father from mind control insanity or something.

Overrated.

MC's acting "evil" just gets plain annoying. Specially his run ins with Yuno. The sword being mistakenly released, Going to an alley by mistake... All these stuff. Stopped reading after that Information Broker became the MC's harem.

I mean from the reviews, everyone is just pissed that volume 3 have the 5 year timeskip after the cliff hanger. Even I was confused and hated it but most people dont understand that it doesn't really matter the volume 3 started off with a 5 year timeskip, since it was made for the reader to assume and imagine the truth through rumors until its reveal.

At the very most, the author would reveal what happen after the cliffhanger in 1 chapter and then have the timeskip happened eitherway.

The plot is... more>> good and fine, if you are those kind of realist that are extremely sensitive of "why cant he just do this", just like how games plot be like "why cant the character just do that", then I am sure this novel wont satisfy you.

It is better to use your imagination than your brain to read fictional stories and form up opinions on whether you like it or not.

This is a fictional story about reincarnation of another world, it is alr a overused genre and there is of course a lot of overused plot (everybody falls for MC) but it is the author who manages to spice things up with its own circumstance and I think this is an extremely good read for those who want something interesting. <<less

Maybe it just a preference things, but I decide to drop this novel here due to "the main character is too op". I believe if it's a rational cultivation, I still can stand it. But here...

Well, I know the MC train his best to avoid his death flag, but he is just a kid. A kid! 13 yo. And he became the best even some knights are not in the par with him.

How the author wrote the action part is good tho. And author narrated it with a beautiful detail.

It's... more>> just not my preference :" <<less

The novel is alright, I do not like the MCs mentality which has no goal other than staying in the timeline and his lack of care for everyone. He is also a little too strong for his age. I know this is not a problem for most, but how can a 13 year old child who only trained for 3 years be stronger than even Elite soldiers over 10 year older than him, it breaks immersion. It would be a really good novel if the MC had ambition or at... more>> least a better goal in mind than just surviving. The apathy towards everything is annoying too. <<less

Best Male Villainess I read, I love that the character is so mature. The story is well written. Gonna love the female lead and their few cute moments. Super worth reading. No cringey harem.

This novel is quite outstanding if you were to compare it to other generic isekais and death flag avoiding novels.

I can't say it's the best as I know nothing is perfect. But at the very least, everything in this novel is fairly decent to sometimes nailing it with ease.

Spoiler

though the only think I need to point out is that the first misunderstanding only took a few chapters to be switched to another so it creates some kind of inconsistency

Absolutely recommend it..

the story is the best isekai I’ve ever read so far. Although sometimes MC makes idiotic choices and it sometimes explains useless or too much detail... but tye novel is definitely worth a read.

It is definitely not my genre. The story is tense, somewhat dark. Even when laughing you know somewhat bad happen next. That's why it is not for me.
The story is well written, pleasing to read, characters likeable.

I cant believe how a Story as intriguing, interesting and moreover appealing can make a nosedive like this.

The first, like, 50 chapters were amazing. Harold has his way almost all the time in the Story, manipulating it and playing the White Knight occasionally. He does all of this without any payback, being despised, but thats alright.

This is one of the classic Storys About heroism. The Knight in dazzling armor. The like of the Hero in Storys of old. Shining with a brilliance, despite appearances.

The MC being dense is fairly understandable,... more>> since he doesnt really have normal human interactions. Theres also a lot of sh*t going on with him Always taking the full brunt, so thers no reason to complain.

The Point is:

The Story with our White Knight Protagonist gets too complicated. At some Point the MC amasses decent amount of Fighting power, to make him basically peerless.

Needless anxiety and and a feelin of helplessness accmpany him. ffectively sealing his movement. The Problems he faces could easily be solved by applying brute force. The MC instead of cutting through the Gordian Knot starts fiddling with it.

This results in a self-sacrifice tour,

Spoiler

shaving off at his life

which isnt to my taste, like not at all. I want him to beat the Living sh*t out of the villain, when the Souls of all the weebs reading this tell him to.

Instead he complies with the demands of the villain. Increases his war potential. Becoming a hypocrite effectively.

Remember in the earlier chapters, when Harold loses it, and calls the Heroine a powerless yet kind idiot? Yes? Well, hes the powerful, apparently powerless tragic hero who doesnt act at all.

"SHINE IN MY BRILLIANCE MORTALS IM BASICALLY JESUS!!!"

Im in a pinch. Because the writing isnt bad. The characters are interesting. If it only werent for this accursed plot. I could enjoy this novel to its fullest...

My advice to the author: "Dont make the edgy and stubborn hero the villains errand Boy/b*tch!"

My advice to the Reader: "Either treat the novel as completed after Volume 2, skip the first half of volume 3 and deal with it, or brace yourself for some pain..."

The first volume is good. The second is okay. The third is atrocious.

The premise of a self-sacrificing, misunderstood protagonist piqued my interest. Then the author decides to dial it up to eleven, and as of Ch70 I feel like I'm reading a sermon on how Harold died for our sins.

Maybe the story will get better, maybe it won't. The point of this review is to challenge the popular viewpoint that this story is somehow well-written, or that the characters are interesting. It isn't, and they aren't.

It's the same dumb Japanese... more>> male protagonist tropes, just wearing a fresher skinsuit. Even that would be acceptable, if only the author would just let his world breathe. Indeed, almost every situation the MC finds himself in appears entirely contrived for the sole purpose of reinforcing that same tired premise: "the MC is misunderstood and hated but he's actually a decent person". Every scene begins to feel like the author has reached in to puppet people and circumstances, ruining immersion and believability of the characterizations.

The spoiler contains key plot points/devices that I feel are lazy or badly written.

Spoiler
    • Harold's foul mouth. It was an interesting device at first but now it's tiresome, honestly. It's not interesting or quirky or comedic anymore. Harold not being able to control what comes out of his mouth makes him appear mentally disabled.
    • Joining the Knights.
    • Sentencing Harold -- a noble scion -- to execution for wearing an enemy uniform, even though this can be easily explained away given all the testimony in his favor.
    • Somehow joining up with the Big Bad of the story. How did this even happen???
    • Somehow getting a time-limit on his lifespan so we can feel even more bad for him and he can be even more misunderstood.
[collapse]

And don't get me started on the love interest. She has her moments, but most of the time on screen she's just a love-sick puppy. I really want to like her, I just want to see her do other things than suck up to a cardboard cutout. <<less

I was excited to get into this since it was so highly reviewed and on quite a few lists with genuinely good light novels but I was very disappointed by what I ended up reading. It's really just another generic Japanese transmigrator novel meant for kids.

Main character just breezes through things with ridiculous ease. With no real conflict for the main character any of the praise he gets feels empty and undeserved. The pacing is way too quick as well so any "emotional conflict" that the main character goes through... more>> is completely unrelatable.

Side characters are about as one dimensional as it gets. They're literally just one personality trait with a face as if there was some sort of Japanese anime personality checklist and the author just crosses one off when he needs a new character. Their only purpose is to gawk at how super cool and deep the main character is.

I gave this 2 stars instead of 1 since the translation is good and this novel is probably very entertaining if you are a teenager. If you want to read something similar but genuinely good just read Rakuin No Munshou or Akuyaku Reijo Ni Koi Wo Shite, their protagonists are legitimately clever and have real emotional moments. <<less

The MC is quite s*upid, instead of using his knowledge of the future to avoid his death flags his doing the opposite.
I know that he's mental age is already old but considering he's current age couldn't he just act for hes age and gain strength in the shadow. He could just avoid things so that he couldn't affect the plot too much.

I started this because of the good ratings.

Also, I like reading transmigration-as-a-villain type of novels. But a big problem that this novel and quite so many others share is that, the MC is not a villain at all.

Rather, he is just a nice guy with the impression on others that he is a villain. In fact, he does all good deeds with absolutely normal intuition under the villain cover. This alone should not be a big problem as long as you depict the MC as someone with unique ethics, world... more>> view, past experiences, or codes of conduct that make them just can't shake off the impression of being a villain, no matter how slight that impression is. However, there is no such trait for our MC here: the only thing that makes him slightly close to being a villain is just his speaking tone.

YES, just the speaking tone. He adds "bastard" whenever he addresses people, and that disgusts others and gives them the first impression that he is a villain. Other than that, he helps people, he diligently works on his magic and knowledge, and he tries his very best to hide his good deeds to not change the flow of story. If that is all, then why bother setting him as a villain.

One of the funs from reading such villain MC novel is witnessing their sightly off mental state: after all, the author makes them a villain, then what's the fun if the villain is just in name? Another is to see the misunderstanding between the villain MC and others, knowing that it is inevitable given the MC's villainous personality. If all you have is just the bad mouth but everything-else-all good MC, as in this case, then the misunderstanding is rather negligible.

Therefore, just being a bad mouth is far from enough in making a villain MC standout, in my opinion. Maybe I am not expecting the right thing from this novel. But initially, the stage the story is set up and the unique vibe it gives off really remind me of Eliza. However, the MC is just not the right type of VILLAIN in this case, at least not the type that I like. <<less

I read until chap 50 and then skim-through the series, welp the only thing that make me kept reading is the development between Harold & Erika, I mean they're the only character that interest me really, She's devoted to him and yes madly, but then recent chapter make her " oh no I should give up, this girl (lifa) know more than me about harold-sama , is this how heart break feels like ?, yes I should give up on harold-sama" uh-oh ok that's come out of nowhere, The development... more>> in arc before this (Parties arc) gone to the thin air ??? , And lifa falling in love with harold is just nonsense why the f*ck would she fall in love without any bases even if she's grateful to him lel doesn't make sense.

So yeah It's good until Chapter 50 and then there's time skip from there the series falling apart in ret*rded way. (Except party arc, that's a good one). <<less

In my opinion this is one of the best Japanese novels about villain main characters.

The story is not a masterpiece or a genuine one but it has unique characteristics, like how the main character trying to stick the main plot or how he always talks like the original villain character despite himself not wanting too, from reading the comments I thought they were not good settings to the plot but after I read the novel they were surprisingly consistent with novel and loved these ideas.

The novel is a mix of... more>> funny, serious and heart breaking moments.

My advice is to read the first 15 chapters before voicing your opinions. <<less

I wouldn't say it's a worthless novel. The concept of the character Harold Stokes is good, but it did become a bit extreme and hard to digest after a while. But two volumes was the limit for me. I wanted to read more, but unfortunately, the author took it rather lax from Vol 3, shifting the narrative arbitrarily without care for the settings already created or the characters that were represented the narrative until then.

Spoiler

the so called last boss Justus abruptly appeared in the third volume and our overpowered protagonist became a pawn under his thumb, with little complaint or resistance. The narrator became unreliable and the basic framework of the plot shifted entirely.

The protagonist, Harold, is super paranoid about his fate. For that reason, I really enjoy getting the story from the other character's perspective because Harold has many mental burdens anticipating his fate and seeking to thwart his "death flags".

Nonetheless this is an enjoyable story and an interesting take on the transmitigation genre. Unlike some transmitigated protagonists, Harold has to deal with the previous owner's "voice" while he benefits from the previous Harold's latent strength. This is an interesting struggle for the protagonist. He cannot express himself clearly due to the... more>> previous owner of the body. It adds to the charm of the protagonist, being a good person but unable to express himself without being rude. <<less

This one is a gem, with a lot of misunderstanding because of MC has a badmouth (though he wants to tell good will his mouth will always say it in ill-meaning words) . I felt the romance for this one and the comedy is nice too, the heroine is nice with character progression at good pace.
