The hearse with the weird odor slowed to a stop before the entrance. The sound of pebbles could be heard bouncing on the ceiling. There were footsteps coming from the corridor, and there seemed to be someone sawing next door. The door knob to the room rattled slightly, and the faucet in the bathroom kept dripping even though it had been screwed shut. There was a rubber ball that rolled on its own underneath the bed. Wet footsteps started to surface one after another on the floor.

At 3 am, Chen Ge held a cleaver in his hand as he hid beside the room heater. The call he was trying to make was finally answered. “Landlord, is this what you meant by ‘the house can be a little crowded at night’‽”

Introducing Chen Ge, the quintessential multitasker at the heart of 'My House of Horrors'. Although quick-witted and unflappable in the face of fear, he doesn't hesitate to cast aside those he considers unsuitable for society. A good, interesting horror read. Atleast at the start.

You will very quickly reading that this novel is basically filler. The author has so much filler that said filler turned into a "plot". However, I've read to chapter 286 and the plot hasn't really advanced in a meaningful way. The main character kinda just dances into various supernatural events and they just so happened to be tied into his goal.

As for the characters? They are below average. Whatever happened to Xu Wan? Why does she just casually accept that the haunted... more>> house expands absurdly fast? Does she not question how hundreds upon hundreds of props and buildings appear within a day? Other characters are bland as well. Police casually accept some random teenager solving a bunch of closed-cases within hours of him investigating. The only character that seems somewhat decent is the yandere tbh. Furthermore, it really annoys me how the main character has yet to get someone he can confide in, so hes literally just doing all these life-or-death battles with ghosts and never gets someone to help.

World building is kinda poor as well. It takes so long to introduce different classifications of ghosts. (Theres only three as of chapter 286) The author is very good at describing various details, but there is a severe and constant lack of general information. I feel like the author spends most of his time describing side-plots rather than the main plot. So instead of writing an actual main plot, the author decides to make almost everything link-in with the main plot.

Overall, a decent read, but gets rather repetitive with the constant filler. The novel is a solid 3/5, could've done way better with a better plot. <<less

I'm not an actual fan of horror genres but if I watch a movie belonging to it, I have to do it at night and in the dark to get the full experience. I recommend new readers to read this at night by themselves without any distractions. The reason this is highly rated is because it will give you goosebumps and let your imagination run wild.

This story slowly creeps up on you. It's not outright scary but you'll keep thinking about it after you've finished reading. I love how the author uses humor to defuse the tension sometimes. If you want to have a break from cultivation and transmigration novels, this is it.

The beginning was ok. ... more>>
Spoiler

The black phone was the only thing kinda out of place, obvious cheat powers.

[collapse]
But all in all, it was a decent beginning. I dropped this novel once before during the introduction due to the "first spoiler". The whole premise is just garbage/cringe. But if you can read beyond it, then the novel starts to shine.

Then why do I only give it 2 Stars right now? Because I am ducking angry!

It is repetitive as f*ck...

Spoiler

The MC gets a mission from the black phone. MC b*tches around for 1 or 2 chapters. Then decides to take the super risky mission. Then he goes on the mission. (He always b*tches around, but never declines any mission, always taking them in the end.) Survives the horror genre. Goes back home to his haunted house. Updates his haunted house with the new mission settings. And every single time he comes back from a mission, a young master will come to his haunted house to challenge his place. Prepare for the same amount of chapters the MC wasted on surviving in a dangerous place to go to listen to the young master bit*h about how lame the MCs haunted house is. I've been reading a whole day and the young master roasted the place for that long. And mind that reading for one f*cking day was just a 40-minute visit to that place. And guess what, the MC has to win in the end. Like legit in the last minute, the young master just randomly faints from a scare. Then the MC has to deal with the aftermath of the survival mission in the real world.

[collapse]

In-depth Spoiler analysis:
Spoiler

Go on a mission, deal with the young master when coming home, and deal with the aftermath.

On loop. Not joking.

Let's take them apart from the beginning.

Going on a mission: The MC obviously doesn't die. Not saying the author should kill the MC off, but the way it is written, even a donkey will notice that sh*t ain't possible. It has a fairytale happy ending vibe. Not sure the author has the same definition of horror or ghosts as the normal reader. Some scenes are build up nicely, especially when u read at night, but the author botchers them up by making the MC so f*cking unlikeable. He isn't scared at all, and the author doesn't forget to remind us every chapter about it. What a cool guy the MC is, he isn't scared of real mu*dering ghosts. And guess what, those same ghosts haven't killed a single person.

And it fails on the same tropes wuxias or xian xias fail. There is an evil organization made out to be the ruler of the underworld. MC defeats them after a hundred chapters. Guess what, you were just a beggar and there is a more evil organization. And the leader of said organization, the guy who abducts children, tortures them kills them in the cruelest of ways. The same guy doesn't kill a single person when the MC meets him, not even the ones he mind-controlled or abducted for a few chapters. Every single person comes out alive because they are the MCs friends and he has plot armor. Like the buildup for that bad boy is soo f*cking pathetic. Everyone is afraid of him, except of course our handsome chad chinaman of an MC, he isn't scared of anyone, and they tell how bad he is but it isn't shown and when we do meet him he is a f*cking weakling who can't kill shit. Even his whole existence is bullshit.

Major Spoiler, but the author made it pretty obvious along the way, so it isn't an "IT WAS ME DIO ALL ALONG" situation

Spoiler

I didn't want to put a spoiler into a spoiler but that shadow is f*cking pathetic.

So everyone has a shadow, and those shadows have their own feelings. At this point, the author is like physics? physics? what is physics? My name is Patrick Star. And the MCs shadow saw the MC smile and be happy one day, while he himself was tortured for reasons unknown and unexplained as of chapter 720, (basically total bullshit) so he sees the MC be happy and decides he will become the MC and turn the MC into his shadow. To do this he leaves the MC, turning the MC into a shadowless person. Good job no one has noticed till now the MC has no shadow. Not even the MC. The MC is totally oblivious to the shadow. Meanwhile, the shadow becomes an underground boss, mass-mu*dering children because he hates them. And all this just for that one scene where the MC visits a mu*derer/loony with the cops in a prison and ask them who told him to abduct the children. And the loony goes brrrrr and screams like a bit*h saying it was the MC. Because the shadow looks just like him. This is just forced edginess if you ask me.

[collapse]

The MC takes "weapons" with him to these missions, but still. If you enter a trap, while knowing it is a trap, then you are not smart. But the dumbest motherf*cker out there. How does knowing it is a trap help u with anything if u don't know what the trap is? The author justifies everything by saying the MC knew it was a trap. Because not knowing and entering it is too uncool for our MC. Pathetic, cringe, and edgy. And his greater red specter needs to f*cking hibernate after every single fight. And guess what, non of the other specters have to. They are just badass 24/7, because if the MCs didn't hibernate he would be too strong... make up your mind before you nerf sh*t like that afterward.

It doesn't help that the MC is just god awful. He is a horrible person. He is extroverted as f*ck. But has zero friends. Other than his female haunted house employee who secretly is in love with the MC. But the MC is too dense. Because that way it shows what a hip MC he is. Drowning in p**sy. He doesn't kill anyone. What YOU kill children and eat them? YOU kill people? YOU torture and kill? I will just knock you out and send you to jail. Damn those terms, I would willingly kill in china if that was the case, isn't that a f*cking steal? Under the premise that the MC has ghosts and specters who can kill for him, he decides not to. It's like you are a vampire and could easily kill the guys trying to kill you but you send them to jail. FACEPALM. That faggot is the one with those powers, so shouldn't he be more of a hypocrite and trying to clean up the world for us plebs without specters? Social service at its best. Thanks for not making the world safer for us! But my main concern is with him having a sheep mentality. If u try to kill me I will kill your nine roots, is what I would like to see, but I am stuck with "Bernd das Brot". Well, it has to be said that the same mu*derers were possessed and then became mu*derers or where mu*derers before they became possessed. Well possessed is the wrong word. More like they share a symbiotic relationship. But it is clearly said how some of them enjoy mu*dering ppl. And guess what, while the MC could easily kill them with his "weapons" and wouldn't be found out. He decides to spare them. And he claims he is law-abiding. And a just soul.

But when he meets a strong enemy who demands the MC give him the retribution he seeks he readily agrees, even if it means killing (well he doesn't kill but he says he wouldn't mind, totally a lie tho). is that not bullying the weak and bending to the strong.

And the same motherf*cker, when he goes on a mission, he always meets someone there, and then forces them into the death mission with him, to scout for him. The dumbass enters a village at night, only a blind old man lives there, and the old man shows the MC the haunted theater he was looking for. Brings him there out of his kindness, even warns the MC not to go, since people have disappeared there/haunted, and it is like f*cking 2 am.

Then the MC doesn't let him go, even after the old gramps begged him. The MC forces him to stay and share the danger with him. Is this how u treat your elders?

This happens every single time. A f*cking hypocrite.

Is stuff like that normal in china? Does your everyday joe have such a low moral compass or situational awareness?

Do you just go to an almost empty village and ring a bell, force the guy to take you somewhere out of his kindness, then deny-him to leave? Or is it that way because the guy is blind, and people with disabilities have no human rights in China?

Enough ranting about his missions, towards the "challenging a young master" part now:

Legit every single time he comes back from a mission, a young master appears. The young master at times is an old gramps with zero manners. Or a female... and so on. They tr*sh talk the place, very cringe, and faint at the last minute. Like all of his visitors faint in his haunted house. Would any sane person enter a place where people faint every single time? Press X to doubt. Highly doubt it. At this point, it is just a medical hazard. You would be shut down immediately, and no one would f*cking come to you. Btw, if a hot chick faints, well no one would be the wiser, so I highly doubt so many female chicks would go there. It feels like the author has seen too many scams on the road where people pretend to be hit by cars and instantly faint even tho the car stopped 2 meters before he hit him, and our poor author thinks this is how fainting works. And the way the people act inside his place is borderline ret*rded. His place isn't even that scary. But everyone decides to run away lol. As if you are going to die inside a haunted house when everyone knows u entered it and didn't come out... My first response would be to just stand there and not move, and worse comes to worst I close my eyes. So what if it is haunted, motherf*cker I am introverted, I would not acknowledge it if a celebrity walked past me, not even giving them a second glance, u think I would give zero-two f*cks if a ghost placed their hand on my shoulder? Every single one faints lol...

Or this one: The guy who came with his friend to the MCs haunted house, to scam the MC. One pretends to be a ghost and the other films it and then they will defame the MC saying his ghosts are whatnot or something like that.

Then the guy gets a call from his friend who asks where he is, while the same guy who supposedly just called him is standing next to him. His first reaction is, the guy next to me must be a ghost, let me beat him up with my bag and run away like a girl screaming and then fainting.

Wouldnt anyone first response be that the guy next to me teamed up with the boss, trying to scare me with a prerecorded message or a voice changer or whatnot.

Like legit, everyone in this story believes in ghosts. I don't doubt that some are a little stitious but u can't be that superstitious right? What happened to education in china? Is it that tr*shy?

And somehow all the ghosts are unknown towards the general population. There is no proof.

However, you had an accident and died? Congratulation you are a ghost now, take your certificate and haunt people now you lucky motherf*cker. Did you get killed by someone? Congratulation you are a ghost now, take your certificate and haunt people now you lucky motherf*cker. Did you die of natural causes? Congratulation you are a ghost now, take your certificate and haunt people now you lucky motherf*cker.

All the places the MC visits are packed with ghosts and their reasons for existing is just bullshit. So u wonder how the general populace can be unaware of these ghosts if there are so many.

It's quite pathetic. The taxi driver sees a man on the highway in the middle of the night outside the city.

Must be a ghost. Not a criminal or a hiker or bum. A ghost.

Or this one: There is another modern theme park trying to sabotage the MCs theme park. They enter his place, and mind, the MC knows it's them because at this point he is just a f*cking god. No matter if the conspirators held a secret meeting and only they know of it or whatnot, the MC will get a random message from a nobody and be in the know.

The dumbass even let them enter. Instead of unmasking them in front of everyone and getting some benefits or empathy from the crowd, he lets them enter knowing they are searing for a fight. Like how dumb must one be? But okay since the MC has actual ghosts and normal human rules don't apply to him anymore, he lets them in. Then his normal employee scares one guy shitless. (he has a ton of ghosts and only 4 human employees, what are the chances he gets scared by a human, but for plot progression, it has to be a human right now.) Now that scaredy-cat runs to the boss of the new theme park which visits the boss of the MC and they demand the MC should bring the worker to them. Legit believing the guy who scared the guy was a ghost and therefore the MC could not produce a real worker to show them, effectively proving the MCs place is really haunted. Does a real businessman believe in ghosts? Maybe Trump does, but I doubt a smart chinaman does. They believe in uncle mao, who needs a ghost when u have him? Dumbasses. And the dumbass MC goes along. I didn't steal sh*t but let me prove my innocence. It's not even a crime, f*cking bootlicker MC. And he even got lucky, like what if it really was a ghost, what then? Would he be finished? Hell no. So why make this dumb accusation a part of this story, I guess at this point the author is just running out of ideas.

I dare the author to go to a business, like go to Huawei or Xiao Mi or whatever, go there tell them the phone you bought was created by an actual ghost and ask them that the CEO comes to your residence and brings the guy who created the idea for the phone to show you he is human. Why would anyone go along with this flow? Well, the MC goes there like a dog and proves his place is not haunted. dumbass being haunted is better than being fake. and who would believe a loser's claim, a loser who fainted inside your house! He is lying to save his reputation...

The MC is seriously fleshed out horribly, he is a guy who thinks he knows how the world works, and he doesn't stop at mentioning it every now and then but he is a nobody.

And worst of all, his "secret weapon" is also his biggest c*ckblock. Go into this expecting no ecchi or romance. And the MC just accepts it. Either gay or introverted but as I mentioned before he is extroverted. Faggot MC.

[collapse]

As of chapter 720, reading it feels like a total chore. The MC doesn't have any supernatural powers and only relies on others to fight for him. Basically MC is just a normie with a big mouth. Pretending to be f*cking sherlock holmes.

And the repetition.

It is just a drawn-out 200 chapter novel in essence.

If you want to read something, then read LotM. Both suffer from a similar beta cuckold MC but at least in LotM he does kill 1 or 2 people who deserve it. And the MC has a working power system. Both aren't horror tho.

But then again I don't like those "hypocritical" good boy novels.

Plot Twist:
Spoiler

If you have nothing better to read, then go for it. I obviously exaggerated things a bit. And to be honest, if you take every review at face value then what's the difference between the dumbo MC and you? Don't be like those dumbass cultivators who monologue how they know that only 60% of what they hear is the truth, yet not knowing what exactly the false part is and just taking everything as the truth, and walking into a trap. Unless you know the reviewer reads BL, or FMC then stay the f*ck away from his reviews.

Surprisingly good on many fronts. It is quite slow-paced however in spite of the fact that a lot of things happen in every chapter.

Though it on the surface as a convenient setting to expand the protagonists haunted house, and for the readers to experience horrific situations it also explores deeper depths of psychology and death.

the characters in the novel are rally interesting and unique. All of the many people the MC initially meets are not as simple as they appear at first and with most of them, much like the... more>> horror in this novel will present themselves as a niggling suspicion that may not be confirmed even hundreds of chapters deep into the novel.

Even so, weather good or bad or grey, all of these characters come to grow on you as the reader and you start wishing the best for them.

The protagonist himself is also a controversial character, even though it is not obvious in the beginning the repeated horrors will gradually draw him to reveal some anti hero qualities. And it becomes tough for the reader to judge right and wrong since it is all from the MCs perspective.

The horror elements also change with the stories progression, and you might find yourself surprised the you had just thought you'd gotten used to the scariness.

Really an outstanding story, definitely worth to stick with even if you feel like your interest is flagging. <<less

Saw everyone else's high review scores and thought why not, gave it a shot, and from the direction this is going I can say that the story theme is pretty good/unique but the second it all drifted into a convoluted computer game quest type of thing I began to dislike it.

That s*upid genre is so overused now that it just ruins this, it could have easily removed the phone/computer game quest thing and just been "normal" and been better for it, instead it just comes off as a unique/good attempt... more>> slapped into a generic predictable and unbelievable genre. <<less

Really thrilling horror experience ! Plot, settings and pace are all very well done and this thing is really chilly to read ! You can feel the terror in the caught up situations and the mystery is in every corner of this webnovel ! Its just keeps you wanting to read and read without wanting to put your device down. I read 388 chapter in one breath for 2 days the only thing I can say is, author kept the places on the plot minimal. MC looks like thrown on... more>> a big web of plot without of him knowing and every person he mets is somehow related in the big schemes of things. This thing can give you chills so if you can take some thrill, this is a must read ! Reading this on midnight with some creepy horror music on background can really satisfy your horror need definitely recommend ! <<less

I currently like how it progresses so far. Our MC is not weak in terms that he is not easily scared (well it's good to find him in a horror novel) and uh the concept is pretty new except the phone.

Spoiler

Our MC is Chen Ge who has this phone which upgrades his "Horror House" to make it less lousy. However he need to go do daily which is where supernatural occurences happens. The phone came from his parents.

One of the first webnovels I read, so even though I don't hold very high love for this novel, it will always have a special place in my heart.

I enjoyed the beginning alot, The dialogue was wonderfully written. It was fun to read at night, the mysteries had me wondering what would happen next, and so on.

Minor spoilers (?)

Spoiler

However one thing that I noticed is that this series is very repetitive. I understand that it an issue with many/ if not all very long novels, but it just felt very apparent. The main character would go through these terrifying things that had held such high suspense, to him scaring his customers. At first I loved those parts, but it never changed. People challenged his house of horrors saying something along the lines of "hah, nothing can scare me" or try impressing some other person. But then they get so scared they faint or something. It was the same everytime I felt the urge to skip those chapters. I liked the parts where he went on adventures as well, and explored the horror places for the missions. Although, while those had great stories, other than at the beginning when he did not have much experience or ghosts; there was no scare factor. Or anything where I felt, "Will he be able to win this time?!" He just won... Everytime. A ghost would swoop in and save the day, everytime. All the scare factor had gone away.

About the characters, especially Cheng Ge, I really liked his character when I first began reading although I somewhat stopped liking his character after he became so bland. He kept winning every fight, not even really by himself too. I remember he said something along the lines of "You can't win your fights without using other people!" To someone using ghosts against him.

..... As he uses his ghosts to pulverize that person. I liked his interactions with other people and his ghosts though.

Now I'll be talking about some major spoilers, (atleast for chapter 200-300 where I got up to)

Spoiler

My favourite character had been Doctor Gau, I really wish I hadn't searched up the photos of how the characters looked because... I still remember how my heart dropped when they started talking about his wife and how she was dead. The sudden realization I had always makes me nostolgic. But anyways, I thought he was such an intresting character, the whole cult arc and everything had me at the edge of my seat, I was always wondering what was going to happen next. Not sure if his character goes downhill after but up untill where I read he has been an incredibly written character.

[collapse]

Started off as a pretty good novel that I read during important parts of my life, but slowly came downhill. Maybe one day I will give it another try, but for now I'm gonna drop it.

This novel is a mix of everything, humour, mystery, horror, romance (at the end), action and likes.

The main thing I liked about this novel is the characters and it's humour.

Of course MC and his scary looking hammer... also his hunted house scenes with his ghost employees are fun too !

There are some parts which I thought would have been better if the author added more details but it was worth the read and I highly recommend it ! This was my fist horror novel I read and I enjoyed it... more>> as well... <<less

It was my first time reading horror novel in a very long time, sadly this is not actually a horror novel. Starts off very nice, MC is a relatable dude with clear goals in mind. He goes into haunted places, meets specters and every encounter is a small quest game with overarching mystery connects all of them. He helps people and specters, specters after this help him scare customers in his haunted house. Many encounters are recreated in his haunted house and we see some random people trying to survive... more>> his experience.

Sounds fun right? It was fun, until author after some hundreds of chapters introduced specters power level and MC become OP since his physique got strengthened after making pact with one of the specters. He starts chasing most of the specters and people himself, he got one of the most OP specter as his "girlfriend", so he is almost out of danger, tension just disappeared at this very moment.

Author clearly felt like this is wrong, so he started battle with his own setup:

  1. OP specter sleeps/injured most of the time and when everything feels lost at the very last moments she wakes up, kill bad ghosts, eat them and guess what - now she hibernates to digest them or need to heal her injuries this cycle repeats in EVERY arc.
  2. Author introduces scenarios where MC got teleported in some sort of big quest room (room could be a hospital or a whole city), where he can't contact with his specters and forced to play by the world rules while completing some sort of quest there. But why and how this is happened is never explained.
Second point sometimes works well, but ending is always the same, MC completes quest and finally summons his employees and OP girlfriend and specters just fighting each other, which is totally unnecessary for horror novel. I felt like author got himself in a trap and tried to workaround the problem which he created himself and whole novel was affected with just one bad decision of creating power levels and making MC too strong.

This is still enjoyable novel with very flawed premise, if you want horror - there is some, but not a lot. If you want ghost action, again, there is some, but not a lot.

Pros:

  • Some horror segments is awesome.
  • Most of the quests have a little detective story inside.
  • "Young masters" POV while trying to clear his haunted house is nice change of pace and funny to read.
  • Overarching plot is there and many clues dropped in the very beginning.
Cons:

  • Horror stops being a horror after a while and there is escalations problem, very early people already got killed and tortured physically and mentally, monsters already appeared, so you can't do something more scary in later chapters.
  • "Slow romance" tag is a joke, for around 900 chapters there is just couple of interactions, interactions without dialogue mind you.
  • Overarching plot is too convoluted with tons of plot holes, noname people appearing from nowhere and it was their plan all along. Until the very end MC (with readers) clueless about what is really happening and you can't solve it beforehand, you must wait until author decides to infodump everything on you in latest chapters.

Ignore the description. It's not accurate at all.

Chen Ge is an average guy in his mid-20s. His parents have gone missing, and now the haunted house they run at an aging theme park seems to be on its last legs financially. But when he finds an old black phone in his parents' stuff, the haunted house building game seems to have real-life effects, and he gets pulled further and further into the world of the supernatural, finding out more about his parents disappearance and himself.

The story is very long, and... more>> does feel a bit dragging at times. What's available here is only a small part. The entirety is about 1207 chapters. I would up hunting the rest down from WuxiaWorld. The translation was a bit spotty at times, but still understandable and it's not like I could do better, so I can't complain. Overall, the characters are pretty engaging, and the story would make a phenomenal webcomic or manga in my opinion. Other reviewers are correct, however, in that it does start to drift more into action than horror after a while. <<less

What can I say, it is one of the few Chinese webnovels that I have completed and I enjoyed every part of it. Personally, I quite dislike Xianxia genre because of my own views on immortality. And considering that more than 70% of Chinese webnovels are Xianxia, very few Chinese novels make the cut for me.

My House of Horrors is one of those novels which is quite unconventional for a Chinese webnovel. It is set in modern world with supernatural existences such as spirits, spectres and so on. The plot... more>> of this novel is quite rare in webnovel world, i.e., it has an ordinary human protag's various encounters with the supernatural. And I have to say that it is also done rather well. The interactions between humans and supernatural are believable and sometimes quite interesting.

Another great thing that I loved in this novel is that it is centred around a Haunted House. Not the actual Haunted locations, but an artificial Haunted House that we see in theme parks and malls occassionally. The novel goes relaatively deep into the actual ins and outs of Haunted Houses. For example, props, mannequins, haunted house actors, security cams, scare points, buisness revolving around Haunted Houses and so on. It was quite interesting to read about them occassionally. I was even inspired to visit a Haunted House, but unfortunately I am too much of a scaredy cat.

And boy, how could a Chinese novel exist without good old face-slapping. Although in Xianxia novels, face-slapping couldn't be more common, generic, boring and repetitive, in this novel face-slapping comes with a twist. The so called 'arrogant' individuals and groups are face-slapped in MC's Haunted House and it's quite a spectacle every time (Although it gets slightly repetitive near the later parts of the novel, but it okay).

There are 2 things on this novel that I didn't like. The rushed ending (really wasn't expecting the novel to brush up some important world-building just like that in a last few chapters). And the lack of interaction between MC and FMC (I was really looking forward to their unique interactions considering that one is a human and the other a ghost, but alas I was left disappointed. There were way too few interactions between them and that too didn't contribute to their relationship in any meaningful way).

Still, even with its flaws (my personal issues with the novel really), My House of Horrors is a great read. Give it a try. Enjoy !!! <<less

A very good read! Though I'm not a fan of this genre, it was still an exciting story.

The story if about the heartwarming adventure of a young man searching for clues on his parents disappearance. While at it he gets a yandere ghost girlfriend who loves him so much she would kill him so that the would be together forever.

The story has a lot of humorous points including where he chases around mentally ill patients, ghosts and mu*derers with his trusty hammer.

It even has the game elements tag, a favorite... more>> of mine.

To increase immersion its better to read at alone in a dark room at night. Surely it would have your heart rate increase by a rate or two, even a cold person like could have such an experience! How awesome!

It definitely deserves its high rating. <<less

One of the must read web novels along with Lord of the Mysteries, Sevens, Omniscient reader (at least for the beginning), and maybe a few others. Although Lord of the Mysteries is still the cream of the crop, top of the top. This is pretty decent.

This was actually my second web novel, and I can tell you if you're bored this'll cure that. It's instantly entertaining, intriguing, and genuinely will make you look over your shoulder while reading this late at night in a dark room. Although once you get... more>> into the swing of things, you might feel like it drags a little in the middle. But give each arc some time and they each have their own charms.

I just wish the last arc would be translated already! It's been like a year! <<less

Great novel up to like 750 ch (School of the Afterlife arc). Like many others, I've found myself skipping more and more stuff at that point. So many boring things I couldn't give a crap about. Also, as Zhang Ye grew, the story became less and less scary. It felt like the story genre went from horror to action. I didn't fear for his safety after it was revealed how strong she was, and she just kept on growing. The first half was genuinely fantastic, the second one not so... more>> much. <<less
