Definitely worth the time. The love triangle isn't as intense as the cover makes it seem like. The second one enters really late and isn't mentioned very often, almost like an afterthought so it's not your cup of tea if you want some intense romance. It's more about world building, city development, character development and well-written political shenanigans. If you want something more mature and realistic to read, it's one of the best.

The FL is a mary sue without a harem (her saving grace). Everything she does and says after her arrival is the best possible action (whether this is true or not is debatable) with her privilege as a dukes daughter often serving as the reasoning as why what she says is right. For example: Iris bullies the girl her fiancé falls in love with [girl B] and is condemned by her peers. Makes Sense. But later the author gives us the impression that Iris wasn't wrong as [girl B] is... more>> a barons daughter and not suitable for a prince. But let me tell you something author - so f-ing what?? Iris still acted like a crazy b**ch. The reasoning that getting kicked out of school was over the top for her level of petty bullying, but that doesn't make her a saint. Or course they make girl B the villain, continually lowering her status

to make Iris seem even more saintly *rolls eyes*

The side villains are pathetic, and the lack of depth in all the characters except 1 or 2 side characters make the story feel shallow and cheesy. Everyone spouts clichés, and I feel tempted to skip dialogue because of how meaningless it is.

The female lead isn't characterized as "dumb and cute" which is great, but she doesn't have the complexity or depth of a FL in a josei manga or western novel, so I would say this novel is geared for younger audiences (and looking at the genre tags I see that it has been recategorized as shoujo). This review sounds harsh, but I'm getting sick of stories like this - and almost all light novels have this issue so it might be a defining characteristic of light novels that I haven't realized.

However, while the characters fall flat, the storyline itself has some merit. Something interesting happens once in a while

so I have continued reading. Somebody wish me luck.

PS some recomendations of books I have recently read:

The Element of Fire by Martha Wells - a better take on being harassed by a poor neighbor (though that would be a side plot). Standalone novel and Wells first published book. Villainous noble girl

Kenkyo, Kenjitsu o Motto ni Ikite Orimasu - my fav insekai, my fav villainous noble girl, my fav web novel period.

I Reincarnated as a Noble Girl Villainess But Why Did It Turn Out This Way - much more serious, josei audience, villainous noble girl <<less

I have no idea if I was on a high of disappointment while reading this plus lamenting over my other not-very-good-reads but this was kind disappointing : (

basically, this novel is another otome-game-villainess-reincarnates book, except that the villainess reincarnates at the end, after all the death flags and whatnot. And I liked the change and going against the set cliche or whatever, but! Everything got super confusing! The chapters were set in a weird format and weren't cohesively put together, and when the POV changed, who knew? Not me! Took... more>> me three paragraphs to figure out it was a different person!

while I liked the characters kinda and the plot was good mediocre and the ending was sweet, I just felt like something was missing from the whole ordeal.

Spoiler

how can the FL and ML fall in love if they don't spend that much time together? Or is that just me?

[collapse]

while the novel is well constructed and it's the thought that counts, it's a 3.5 from me :/

It started out very nice and well-written. The reincarnated story was believable, the MC thinking and emotions are realistic. I like the MC personality, strong and determined, and there is little romance (no MC fall in love too quickly with some random nice handsome rich amazing genius prince).

The reason for the low rating is because I just got bored of it. I just find it repeating itself and cannot be bothered to pick it up again. Maybe someday I will re-read and change my review.

While the focus on the business and politic is quite interesting, the pacing is simply too damn fast and MC just keep raking in achievements with minimal problem. Details have been skipped. It feels like everything has been hand waved.

For example, she started a business from nothing to success in two short chapters. And establishing banks in another few chapters. The challenges of making business and financial institution are ignored.

The worst part of the novel though, is the execution of its premise and its characters. No, the MC is not... more>> hated, or even that disgraced. She is loved by many influential people and her own vassals. Her land is rich and she has control over it. She does not need to recover from any hardship that was promised. She just need to build an already reasonably developed land.

And the real 'villains' the 'heroine' and the capture targets are just pathetic spoiled kids.

Decent, cannot say it is great, bit at least decent. <<less

Nice, short read. I like the rambles about the economy building. It's kinda jumbled to read all the POV shifts, but I get used to it when good characters pop up.

Because of pics, we get to see Iris (main character) and the other side characters... this time, instead of a bunch of overwhelmingly beautiful men, Iris is quite pretty~~

Spoiler

The MC reincarnates as the villainous character in an otome game after failing to take down the in-game heroine. She’s disgraced, heartbroken and expected to return home to face confinement. However with her new awareness, the MC is able to analyze the situation, realizing the inate good within the original character, and utilizing her strengths, resources and social relations to create an alternate path for herself. Extracting herself from the complicated and flawed love polygon of the game to focus on political, socioeconomic issues of the period through various alliances, political and economic reforms and business opportunities.

Characters
Spoiler

The original character was usually kind and caring, but due to losing her fiance, acts in a petty way towards the in-game heroine by spreading rumours. While the current MC is indifferent to love but smart and strong-willed, while maintaining the original care the character had for citizens and the poor. While this can be seen from their actions, neither have a truly distinct personality or any characteristics that make the MC stand out from other time travelling or smart leads and the character is quite standard.

Some side characters are introduced, and the servants the MC will use to implement the reforms are likely to be recurring. Aside from the male characters being handsome, there’s nothing distinct about them as they all fawn over the MC’s gentleness, their past debt from being rescued by her and how intellegent the current MC is.

Review
Spoiler

The story starts with a similar concept to Chu Wang Fei and various other Chinese light novels, with a soul arriving in the body of a scorned woman and utilizing the character’s strengths and their own knowledge to carve a better future. However it quickly rises above the petty squabbles and revenge schemes that usually follow. Instead the MC takes an idealistic route of bettering society rather than focusing on romances, becoming a powerful figure within the new world. The plot and tone is similar to Maoyuu Maou Yuusha, as both aim to give two-dimensional and villainous NPCs depth and sympathy through exploring their backgrounds. The feeling it gives also resembles Wolf and Spice i.e. The explanations, economic focus and setting.

The story is not the most original and the plot is somewhat predictable, but the concept is still interesting and has potential. However since only 20 chapters are translated, we have to wait to see how the plot will grow, and how they handle the challenges they face.
[collapse]
However the story already contains a few minor issues:
Spoiler

1. The sheer amount of benefits and resources the MC has (but conveniently failed to notice due to being blinded by love) makes it too easy to make a turn-around. Simply by making use of what’s in front of her, she could’ve improved her future is several ways. The original losing due to a petty scheme and failing to notice these things (but managing to set it up for the MC) seems almost ridiculous.

2. The use of modern knowledge on businesses and government structures is expected, however when the story becomes too specific with its schemes (and the shock of various side characters) and too ambitious in the breadth of industries changed, it becomes arrogant and overbearing. Just because it’s a shocking idea for the period the game is set in doesn’t mean readers in modern times will be impressed (i.e. OMG this thing called chocolate is just too good, how creative and original – not so much for us) while completely disregarding the knowledge and skills available at the time i.e. Money lenders existed and acted as banks so it’s not like it’s a completely new concept.

3. Use of multiple POVs. The story is about the growth and experiences of the MC after her fall from society. Most of the actions and changes are brought on by her while the supporting cast merely carries it out. Using their voices is just repeating or explaining what the MC has already done, making the story over the top with all the praises, and repetitive (she’s kind and smart, we get it). TBH you can just skip the change in POV – the only one worth reading was where her father mentions that he does care about the MC’s feelings.

4. Characters – as mentioned above, they’re all very generic and flat in terms of personality, tone and methods. Even if the author inserted weird quirks, it wouldn’t make them feel realistic or relatable. The MC is near 'perfect' and her personality has no room to grow, and even the people the original body wronged were evil or sinister, so the MC can do no wrong regardless.

This is my first review on this site and I was hesitant to make it. But I figured I may as well.

First off, I adore this book, it’s cheesy but it’s all I could ever want.

Secondly. The translations kept getting worse each time the group changed, especially the fourth group. The ads were beyond unreasonable and I could barely read a sentence before the page redirected to a scam link.

So, in conclusion, this book is wonderful, but the translations are frustrating.

This was the first web novel that I started to read and my addiction to WN started here XD now I'm able to finish. Really, a good story! Though there r flaws and drama (making things that can be resolved easily complicated ? And with a quite predictable ending) overall, I highly recommend this novel, especially the POV of chara, U'll able to sympathize more.

It's very satisfying to read

This is about as good as you can reasonably expect the Otome genre to get. Maybe I'm jaded but it seems like 80% of reincarnation stories are "I woke up in an Otome game and...*insert every sitcom trope*"

It's the best of a bad gener, and probably about the only one I've encountered that passes a Becktel Test (2 named female characters talk about something that isn't a male character. That's literally how low the bar is and most still fail by the time I give up on them).

If you like... more>> the genre you'll love it, if you don't like the genre you'll wonder where the conflict is for the first 40 some chapters. Though

Not without flaws true, like others said and pointed out. However, I tend to overlook those type of flaws in favor of major ones found in most of the otome game novels.

Firstly, the characters have depth. Rather then only the MC herself, it has other people's point of views and their personalities are well fleshed out. So the characters feel alive, in short the world itself feels alive. Especially the game heroine's character is very dark and intriguing.

Secondly, the plot is intriguing rather than just bland. Political intigues aside, the... more>> MC has a purpose. The other characters also have their own purposes and that part is well highlighted. So, the events all feel connected to a particular goal rather than random. Even the most simple of character seems like they are hiding more than they look on the surface.

With these two requirements alone, a story becomes readable and enjoyable enough. While lack of minor flaws make it outstanding. So, given there is a severe lack of stories as well qualified as this I'm gonna give it a 5 star regardless of the minor flaws like time skip, MC being perfect and servants being devoted to her etc as they are a part of the plot of this story itself and whether someone likes it or dislikes it varies from person to person. <<less

I first read the manga before I read this LN. MC is quick witted and I like how sometimes MC showed her weak side which is humane. ML was so lovable, ML helps MC behind the scene, and this interaction is LOVE! MC tried her best not to be dependent of ML, and I was screaming silently like "come on!! Be more open to him! Love him!"

The current translator was not so bad, but I prefer the previous translator Thumbs up and keep translating for this ungrateful reader aka... more>> me! Thank you for taking this LN, I can't wait until the next chapter post! Adieu <<less

The Seinen / Ore type of title would be something like

"I regained my past life's memories during my bad end as an otome game villainess, but salvage my second life with administration cheats"

Because that's almost all that happens. This obviously isn't the title because it's shoujo, but as it starts out with the MC being expelled, there's little left of the game other than giving a few characters motives or having them reflect on the game's ending actually being disproportional. Other than that, there's remarkably little plot besides the MC overworking herself for 60-80% of the novel.

The MC is surrounded by a ton of high spec characters (that were not part of the game and are thus conveniently loyal after that bad end), some of which are shoujo-type Ikemen. There's a bit of intrigue, but there aren't any conspiracies, that are particularly hard to see through. A certain character's identity was spoiled about 20 chapters early by the translator, but if you can tell who it is and think I spoiled it for you now, you have yourself to blame for opening the spoiler.

It's not like I didn't enjoy reading it, so I'm giving this 4 Stars. The story is missing this little extra that makes me feel like I'm reading something brilliant. Even in terms of romance, almost nothing happens, which is rather untypical for shoujo, so it's occasionally a bit dry.

[collapse]

The translation could be improved and the first translator left a lot of comments while the last annoyingly splits chapters into several pages, sometimes even if there's no second page. The rating doesn't reflect that, but I thought it should be mentioned. <<less

i really feel this story is misleading way too much

Everything she does is petty stuff that is justified later. The good guys who are actually s*upid and bad. If they are really s*upid why did she even like the prince. the prince should have atleast few good points. But even the prince is brainless could not do anything. I really hate this. see even if he spoiled by his mother he atleast didnt reject the heroine who is commoner. means he did have some good points. I know the heroine... more>> is weird and all. but still... I dont know what iam saying. but I really dont like the plot.

And the others who opposes the MC is shortsighted, ignorant, or dumb. Everyone that supports her is brilliant and capable. She always succeeds in everything she does. Does she have that much luck. well she did get opposed by few people but she easily solved every issue. wow. <<less

I started reading this novel because I saw the manga or comic version first. The comic is really good but the story isn't complete yet and I found the light novel. When I read the light novel I got really hooked. I recommend that before reading this LN started first with the comic you can just search for it in manga online with english translation. Hope you find it.

Btw I like how cool, kind, and strong hearted the MC is. I hope you love the MC like I do.

I am hooked to this novel because of the illustration. It is very beautiful ♡. The story also not bad. The plot is not deep. So if you just want a light reading, this is for you. I have hope in the future chapter the author will give a deep and complex plot. I am more looking forward for the romance though. ♡ I love Dean.

The story itself is a typical "reincarnated into villainess noble girl" story. The smart female lead is a point plus to me, because I am... more>> sick reading a dense female lead. Although at beginning MC is supposed to be villainess noble girl, there is no evil bone in the MC. Even the original MC is so kind that she took homeless orphan to her house. It confuse me. How can a kind hearted girl like this has a villain label? <<less

My reviews tends to hint at parts in the story, as most reviews do, but I'd still recommend for you to skim or skip this if you want to go into this blind. This may change depending on future chapters.

First of all, I finally got around to reading this... I saw this as a high rated novel after going through my evil-villainess reading spree, and the short story here is: I'm disappointed. Like some other reviews have stated, this whole story feels like a wasted potential- but since the... more>> potential still exists, I'll try to read it till the end.

Like most broken-engagement stories, the "capturable characters" are the "bad guys" and the protagonists are the "good guys." Unfortunately, like most broken-engagement stories, the transition from being a "bad" to being a "good" person is nonexistant- because the "evil" villainess was the good person this whole entire time, even before the reincarnator merged with the protagonist (a counter example to this would be Haunted Duke's Daughter.) This isn't the only novel that has this fault, so I'm not too angry, but...

The protagonist. I know many light/web novels are overran with overpowered protagonists, and I honestly don't mind that if its realistically done and well-written. Unfortunately, here, she's a beautiful young woman with faults that might as well as be her strength. Basically, she's surrounded by people who love her for her faults (ex- her princess-like naivete and kindness). If these faults were expanded on and actually hindered her instead then I wouldn't have been as annoyed. Another reoccurring problem is how her "real world" knowledge seems too broad for any "normal" person from the "real world" and is often used as a plot convenience, but then again, this is a common problem in many LN/WNs.

While the event climaxes and plot twists are predictable and boring, I do love the premise of the main story and the economical and political aspects of her fief. Stories about business and politics nearly always at least get a two star from me, and the writing is decent. It has an addicting quality to it, and I do look forward to seeing how she maneuvers her way to success.

Of course, these aren't all its faults/redeeming qualities, but these are the main things I took note of. All in all, I'd recommend it to any fan of this genre, though I do warn that you shouldn't expect deep and complex characters or a realistic world. <<less

This light novel is interesting. A business woman is reincarnated into a otome game being as "wicked" daughter of a Duke. After her broken engagement with the Second Prince, she starts her journey with her fellows in order to seek the happiness. With her modern knowledge (economic and politic), she stays in her hometown and she trying to built a beautiful place for everyone. And like all story of the time of kings, there are the fight for the throne (fraction, corruption, manipulation...)

It's not a classic reincarnation story with... more>> magic, combat (no many physical) or anything else. So that's why, it's pretty good, interesting and novelty. Moreover, we start the story with a strong and beautiful protagonist so it's perfect for me. <<less
