Bai Yang is the youngest son of a rich family who grew up spoiled, unambitious and having no one expect anything from him. He doesn’t really mind this though, because he’s still able to live a simple and happy life.

One day, however, his older brother got into an accident and is now comatose. Bai Yang’s father now has to consider his youngest son to take over the family business. Unfortunately for him, Bai Yang is a weak, timid, and cowardly child. How can he ever succeed?

Wanting to change his son’s personality, the father has Bai Yang transmigrated into the world of Wild Wind, a very famous fantasy novel. Bai Yang’s father hopes the environment of that world will shape his son to be more arrogant and domineering, as a child of a wealthy scion family ought to be.

However, due to an error with the Main System, instead of transmigrating as the protagonist, Bai Yang ends up becoming a cannon fodder villain, Xie Zietian, from the Demon Realm! In order to safely and quickly return to his world, Bai Yang has to ensure that the protagonist, Zhou Ying, ascends to the heavens so his transmigration mission will be complete.

In order to sneak into the human realm and help Zhou Ying, Bai Yang comes up with a variety of excuses to the Demon King of Eternal Night, such as…

Bai Yang, in a dignified manner: “Your Majesty, that person might threaten the demon world. I went to the human world to kill him for you!” (Actually, I went there to meet the protagonist.)

Bai Yang, proclaiming his loyalty: “Your Majesty, hang in there. I will go to the human world to find the elixir for you!” (Actually, I went there to save the protagonist.)

Bai Yang, with an attitude of selfless dedication: “Your Majesty, I just want to go to the human world to further your great cause!” (Actually, I went there to see the protagonist.)

The Demon King’s face remained impassive but, in fact, the tips of his ears were red. He was thinking: I can’t believe he loves me so deeply…

Demon King: “Hmph! Seeing how clingy you are, I’ll accept your love. Tell me! Whatever you need, I’ll give it to you!”

Bai Yang: “****! Your Majesty, I don’t love you.”

Demon King: “No, you love me.”

The Demon King truly believed Bai Yang and he shared a deep mutual love until he discovered that Bai Yang was having an “affair” with a “wild human” …

Haha, this was interesting. I have yet to read a novel like this and it was truly a refreshing read.

I have read stories where the MC helps the protagonist. I have also read stories where the MC helps the villain. And yet, this novel tells a story where the MC secretly helps the protagonist while sticking with the villain. Did I successfully hook you in? Because I did get hooked rather quickly.

The romance... haha, it's too funny! There are lots of misunderstandings going on between the MC and ML (the... more>> villain, a.k.a demon king). MC possessed the body of the demon king's subordinate which drowned himself in lust, while MC himself doesn't have an interest in that kind of stuff. But he was forced to do the daily task of flirting with anyone around him. So... he coughs accidentally groped the demon king's butt. You can guess the rest... The misunderstanding that MC likes the demon king stems from there.

It's fascinating to see how the demon king is a genius in stratagems and governing, yet... he has a brain hole on romance. He did say he didn't really do romance... but anyways, I digress. ML tries to convince MC that he (MC) is indeed in love with him, to the point of forcing that 'fact' towards him. Meanwhile, MC really didn't lean that way because all his actions were intended to help the protagonist. LOL

So far, I'm loving this novel. MC knows how to make decisions (despite them not being the best at every occasion). And his decisions, most of the time are very entertaining! It's certainly not what you would expect.

One more thing. I LOVE Xiao Ling. She's hands down the scene-stealer of this novel. Her personality is very fresh. She's funny, supportive, and throws out remarks here and there which cracks me up. <<less

It was a funny, pretty light-hearted novel. Things started to get really rushed near the end though, and there a little bit of general confusion all over the place. It only made sense after reading a little further, then going back and re-reading. I wasn't sure if it was the translation that was confusing or if it was the novel itself.

I didn't really enjoy the system though. She was just annoying and kind of... there I guess. Just to remind MC to grope people every once in a while. -_-

This is definitely one of the best transmigration series out there. It has wonderful characters and an actual plot. The MC and ML also don't fall in love with each other at first glance of even second glance. The ML is an absolute innocent baby despite the exterior lmao ... more>>
Spoiler

and the MC initially tries to play it off that he was the top because of the ML acting like a shy maiden HhHAhAhaHA

The setting and initial premise actually does serve a purpose and is not just for plot convenience, this is 100% up on my list of faves <<less

God where do I start?

This story is so good!! I really have to thank the translators in translating this wonderful gem but when I reached the latest translated chapter - I couldn't help but want to read more!!!

I love the MC, he really changed from the beginning where he was a coward but over time you could notice that he became sly and smart! Actually he is naturally smart, hes just really lazy but when placed under pressure he could think fast

ML is also adorable, he's an adorable narcissist. Hes... more>> a scary boss demon but when you really get to know him, hes actually quite adorable especially when his ears turns red when shy.

The system xiao ling is super cute and for a system she's more of a viewer than helping hahaha but their conversations with the MC is really entertaining, shes not like a golden finger but more of a friend that grows on to you.

Spoiler

shes also selfless, she sacrificed her memory data to help the MC save ML's data but since ML was actually a real person, she was able to save a portion of the world instead

[collapse]

Spoiler

in the ending or side story, it turns out xiao ling was the daughter of the creator of the system, she was 13 years old and died from cancer. She was created as an AI by the father to remember her

[collapse]

Every thing really pieces itself together when you read the story. I also love it when the story protagonist basically got adopted by the MC and ML XDDD

Spoiler

MC: I am your father

Protagonist:...

MC: (points at demon king ML) he's your step-father

Protagonist: NOOOOOOOO!!!!

ML: call me daddy

Me: huehuehue

I loved this story so much I MTL’d it to the end.

I usually hate stories that center around misunderstandings, but this was the ‘funny’ kind of misunderstanding that brought the two leads together, instead of tearing them apart.

The ML is a huge man-baby, but I adore him. He’s so sweet to the MC once he fell in love~

I am so, so, damn hooked! Its to the point I want more! Like:

Spoiler

I want protag/ Zhou Ying to remember our MC/ Bai Yang/ Xie ZeTian when he ascends or something! I feel so sorry for Zhou boy! He got the short end of the stick! Especially around the end. Although, him not remembering the MC is also a great thing 'cause if does remember, he'll have immense trauma.

[collapse]
But oh well, all in all the novel is so great I read the MTL til the end! This is actually not my first time reading an MTL, however its my first time reading the MTL from the first to the last chapter! And even an extra chapter at that. All I can say is: It was all worth it!

I even want more but its already completed! What can I say?!

Alright, first, the plot is smooth. Like smoothy smooth with some mint mixed. (Am I the only one who likes that? OK).

Second, the character development is amazing. When I look back at the first few chapters and I noticed our MC is a pure white rabbit and then I look at the current MC who's as sly as a cunning black bellied fox. This Laozi was left speechless.

The demon king is a huge narcissist (in a good way) and the misunderstanding always made me LOL.

The villains aren't the type that "I am offended. You didn't do anything but I'm still offended so I will fight to the death with you!"

Spoiler

Although, at that time when MC and ML went to the human world to see the scenery (actually, MC went there to check on the protagonist) ML killed some canon fodder and those canon fodder were a little like the above aforementioned but other than that, the other characters has their own personality.

[collapse]

The system.... She feels like a mother. I like her very very much.

Spoiler

At that time when she sacrificed herself to get the data of ML (who actually doesn't need to. But at the end helped form the virtual world again) I was so touched! She's the best system, so far, (for me)

[collapse]

It is a very good read. I actually only read this to substitute another novel but when I read around the 30th chapter, I couldn't stop anymore. It's that good guys! Read it! So highly recommended! Other than The Reader and Protagonist definitely have to be in true love, Game Loading and Quickly wear the face of the devil, I don't think other novels can make me appreciate it like this one. (Sorry for those who got offended. Don't be mad. Its just my opinion) <<less

What. A. Let. Down.

This, coming from an angst loving yaoi reader, even I was left feeling the ick from ML. It's like he completely changed and not in a good tsundere way but in a creep disturbing-disgusting sicko who would be a cannon fodder villain in any average story.

At first, I didn't take the bad reviews seriously and liked the story till chapter 70. It erased all good things I had read. I cannot look at the system and the ML the same way anymore.

I thought the author was good... more>> but their disgusting views can't help but spill into their work, staining it all in a vomit inducing pile of sh*t.

P.s. I'm suspecting almost all the good reviews are paid.

And it's not about being surprised about r*pe in a story where it was tagged, but the blatant mockery of r*pe and it being justified it not having any serious repercussions specifically when MC was so traumatised. This isn't romance. The ML glowed down and became a disgusting man who couldn't see anything wrong with his actions, manipulations, lies and r*pes. There wasn't any guilt, he didn't see the MC, he never LOVED the MC. <<less

This is soo soo good.

😭 I'm obsessed with this story.

I binge read it completely and I'll say, it's definitely worthy.

... more>> It's my first time reviewing so I'm not sure what to say.

The storyline is pretty smooth, with lots of twist and unexpected turns. 😂 Till the end you'll feel shocked and unprepared for the upcoming events.

This is honestly a very good book to read. I'll surely recommend it. The storyline, the characters, the progress of the story everything is peaceful and amazing.

I don't have enough words to express just how good this is. It's that amazing.

And thankyou for the translation, Translation-Sama!!

I really loved this novel, the comedic misunderstandings were perfect and I was constantly overwhelmed by how funny and cute the main couple were. I just wish the author had taken more time with the ending. I really wanted to see more extras or them talking after they woke up.

Later content is questionable. Not the best writing. Definitely not the best ML. But the novel was enjoyable in the beginning, follows its plot with no gaping holes, and made me want to know the end even after putting it on hold for ages.

Two points where the story took a major nosedive in my opinion:

    • c72, which handles (or doesn't handle) the aftermath of most of the review complaints
    • c92, where I made a note: "dude, this behavior... is so bad, like this isn't love, the disrespect, I kind of want to drop this"
      Spoiler

nonconsensual punishment through s*x (suppose it might be dubcon but eh) and scaring Bai Yang with a 'pregnancy pill'

      [collapse]
Second hump took way longer to get over. But having read the last few chapters while cursing the ML's character setting, the book ties up all the loose ends nicely. For a casual read (it's mostly a comedy until the end), I thought the ending was satisfying. As a book, I give it a 4. As a romance, -66666.

This was a really, really good transmigration novel.

We got really good understanding of why the transmigration happened and where the system came from. We were told about others who transmigrated to the world. We saw why this MC specifically transmigrated. The system had a personality that felt fresh, and she truly became friends with Bai Yang through their shared confusion and attempts to progress.

I was rolling my eyes a little at how the Demon King magically became interested as soon as Bai Yang was playing Xie Ze Tian, but then... more>> even THAT was explained!

My favorite thing was probably when Bai Yang stood straight and told Xiao Ling that no matter how courageous the program made him become, he still wanted to do things his way and follow the ethics that made him feel right even if the world was fake and virtual. Very cool, I was proud of him.

Also really loved how he and the protagonist of the world became very close, it was terribly heartwarming. I actually thought that the son of heaven would become a love rival, so I was caught quite off guard by Bai Yang's quick-talking, uh... developments lmao. But usually stallion novel protags are pretty thin in personality, so I liked that this one was a good kid who just kept being in circumstances.

This was a truly silly novel in exactly the ways the summary and title promised me, so I felt pleased and satisfied by the read. It was even good! I'd consider the novel itself probably worth a little more of a 4, but then the translation team brought it to a five- plus the emphasis on five star reviews in the novel, and the reviews on here that decided to give two stars for the whole story because they hit one particular chapter.

Like... kids, you should always be minding the r*pe tags. Why were you surprised? I get some people particularly didn't like the Demon King downplaying Bai Yang's pain and anger in his narcissism, and that's valid. I personally didn't like that Bai Yang kept passing out even after the s*x got really good for him. What I did like was that very explicitly their first time was particularly bad because the ML was a four thousand year old virg*n who royally s**ked at doing sex- and then he listened to MC's words, sought out help, and then got good at it for him. I think that his wife-chasey attitude was exactly what he needed to do to make up for it- I don't know what else I'd add making him do, you know? Like... what do I want to see in the narrative, this is for entertainment and thought-provocation, it's not real people.

One thing that did get me was I kept expecting more about FireThorn City. We never got to find out why the curse played out like that! Not even an extra about them! I'd recently read Rebirth Of The Supreme Celestial Being, which had a LOT about the cursed city in it, so this lack of info and attention stood out to me. But hey, not everybody loves getting in on worldbuilding as hard.

I also could have used more Huahua, but that's again personal.

I did also like Bai Yang's attempts to suss out his sexuality.

I know exactly what novels I'm going to recommend for readers who enjoyed this one! And I do think it's worth reading if you think you'd be interested. There's a whole hundred chapters of content, after all. <<less

Honestly, let me just start with the MC. The MC is quite lovable and funny BUT can be really annoying sometimes. That "sometimes" refers to when he interacts with the system. THE SYSTEM ESPECIALLY OH MY GOODNESS. Literally so annoying. The og MC of the novel is quite cute but again annoying 😭. The ML aka demon king is quite fked up and loveable at the same time? But he should really ffs educate himself about consent. But in reality, after all he is the demon king... still- ugh idk... more>> what to say BUT I LIKED THE MALE LEAD ITS JUST THAT SOME OF HIS ASPECTS I personally would not like to defend or acknowledge. What he did was indeed wrong. Other than that the story is quite good compared to the many xianxia demon etc novels. The plot moved smoothly and the characters had good developments too. I guess ill give it a 8/10. GIVE IT A TRY. Those part that makes you uncomfy just skip them like me 👍 <<less

Before you start this read the tags, I see alot of reviews talking about it and I'm like please read this tags before you start a book.

This novel is honestly so funny Bai yang is such a hilarious character, he had me laughing every chapter. His and Xiao ling relationship was so funny and amazing to read.

The demon king is also a cute bunny his narcissist personality reminded me so much of Feng Xiao from peerless. Also the fact that any little romantic thing the MC did greatly moved him... more>> even though the MC didn't really mean anything extra to this action was so cuteee.

If your doubting if you should read this, if you definitely should it's such a good read and will easily make you binge read. But remember to read the tagsss. <<less

I read this twice and both times it's a 5 ⭐️ read

this is the best misunderstanding book I have ever read, and it's hilarious it'll keep you smiling happily until the end.

I wish it was longer don't know why the author chooses to let it be so short an there were plenty of opportunities to lengthen the book but hey it was still a fantastic read.

the only negative thing about the book is that all the hot stuff got cut, but the MC still talk about it so you don't... more>> miss much.

There are good reasons why this one isn't a 5 star story.

Besides from the obvious complaints of r*pe, dub-con, and similar stuff, the Demon King and the MC actually doesn't any chemistry. Although the misunderstanding was hilarious and it was the main reason how the DK fell for the MC, based on their personality, they still lack chemistry. In a realistic situation, the relationship would have fallen down to an unrequited love, or forced love. Honestly, the MC had more chemistry with the protagonist than the DK.

Speaking of the protagonist......... more>> aigh... I'm sad that he really is nothing but an NPC in the end..... The ending of the novel felt complete, yet also left me wanting to know what happened to the rest of the characters who were still alive? I kind of wish there was a spinoff novel, or a sequal to this novel for the protagonist.... except he also ends up in a BL alternate universe or something. Lol

Aside from all of that, I found this novel funny and would definitely turn it into a meme if I feel like it. Lol <<less

  • Rating may change since I've temporarily put reading this on hiatus.
Oh god, when I saw other reviews at around the chapter 50+ mark claiming that the future progress irritated them, I felt very validated. He gets very insufferable. It's already pretty obvious at the start that the MC didn't have a backbone, but it was still bearable since he was actually up and doing things, forced by the circumstances as he is. In a life or death situation, he still has the inclination to do the right thing, even if... more>> he's unaware of how karma would bite him in the ass afterward. Like yeah he probably won't do it a second time knowing the risks involved, but at the very least, you know he has the gut instinct, however dumb, to do the right thing.

And then this happens:

Spoiler

He gets stuck in the palace because of some scheming from the ML and begins to never have a plan at all. The scheming isn't even outwardly harmful to the MC, just outwardly audacious, to the point where I find the ML just a bit pitiful. But that's not the point. The ML may be unlikeable at this point in the novel, but the MC even more so. The MC's whole plan is to just—annoy his subordinates so much that they ask for him to be fired. That's it. It grates my nerves for some reason. You have to be kicked out (as per your goal) and you're even relying for other people to do it for you. The Demon Lord ML, who kind of has a crush on him now, is at his beck and call. He never strived to improve because he's supposedly a rich young master before. Congrats author, you just blasted off your MC relatability to outer space.

[collapse]

Additionally, there's a lot of, what I'm guessing is, internalized h*mophobia written in the POV of the MC? He doesn't explicitly say he hates gay people, he's just often very disgusted of the thought of flirting with guys. Maybe I'm exaggerating. After all, those thoughts were numerous enough that it grated my nerves, and I did not have the patience to read through it. I am sure, however, that to this chapter I read, he dislikes it. If you can read through the sludge of "... but I am a man!" until he gets over it, then fine, but I'm grasping at the ends of my straw here.

I still would finish this novel, but I felt so disappointed. <<less
