Honestly, I've got hardly anything but flag for this novel..

It's by far the worst written (or translated) novel I've ever read. Every few sentences there are "*Boom boom boom boom* or s*upid comments like in chapter 226 "His eyes turned expectially serious" (this was during a life & death fight against someone of higher martial-rank than himself, was he just brushing balls till then?).

The story in it self is also just another drop in the ocean as other reviewers has stated and the read-threat throughout the story could quite frankly... more>> have been stolen from any other story. This is the second story outside of Perfect World, which I've had to quit reading due to the narating and the story being utterly and completely unreal and it continously on luck and not skill or wits - That is if you can call it luck and not just several ridiculous coincidences.

I'll give this story 2/5 stars and would not recommend reading it unless you absolutely have nothing else to do with your spare time. <<less

It starts out okay, but it quickly becomes monotonous and annoying. You can skip half of the chapters and miss nothing. Especially the fight chapters because it's just a bunch of word puke about how awesome some nonsensically named move is. Near the end, I literally skipped whole chapters or only skimmed a few spots. I barely even know how it ended because I was so fed up with it that I just wanted to be done with it once and for all.

The story reads like a Japanese hero slice of life novel.

Op hero with maxed luck stat, either brute forcing or acquiring fortune in every encounter.

There are no set backs, or bad encounters.

... more>> In the beginning MC had reasons for keeping stuff secret. Then his reason became face slapping his own family because watching them spit blood and have heart attacks over his secret progress is what motivates him.

It's very easy to forget this is suppose to be a cultivation novel, since it reads the same as hero summoned and given cheats type novel. <<less

Okay novel to pass the time between other novels.

Romance is just ehhh. Not sure why there is a polygamy tag as MC is still a bachelor by ch 1309 (end). Fight sequences are skippable for the most part. Most weapons and techniques that MC gets seem to only be in the novel as filler material. Some of the items gets a few chapters to show the struggle MC goes thru to acquire, gets a lot of hype, then is simply forgotten by author.

The conclusion however is fairly well done, and... more>> not abrupt - author spends about a 100 ch focusing on closure for the various acquaintances the MC makes throughout novel. <<less

This novel started off excellent. But many traits that can be found in btth will be found in this. In my opinion this novel is a carbon copy of btth however its a cheaper version. Everything is better in btth, than it is in Wu dong. Why? The MC becomes a meek hypocrite. "Lin Dong, I swear me and you are life and death enemies." After a long fight of fingers being sent through the sky. Lin Dong lets that fellow leave scotch free. Its like sometimes this man is... more>> like Monkey D Luffy. Who thinks knocking an opponent unconscious solves all sorts of beef. The hypocrite part is that he kills some enemies who are guilty of same crimes that most of those fellas committed. They were literally same character except different names.

Anyways the romance is definitely the worst part of the novel. His interaction with women are obviously from the perspective of a 17 year old geek from earth. His first love which he somehow became obsessed with is in one of the worst possible ways. Yes you guessed it aphro... Ahem you get my point. Some novels love to force women to be with their rapists. Even if the women is a "genius who is never found again" I have no idea why she didnt kill Lin DOng.

The other girl named HuanHuan. Is literally tr*sh. I thougth she was going to be a mature women who was the master of Lin Dong. She is just a tr*sh snotty brat who is obsessed with some old senior. She hates lin Dong for no reason and somehow Lin Dong gets a hard on for women who hate him. <<less

Started off pretty good, I enjoyed it for a while but after a bit it started to get very repetitive, for example the battles would go the same way every time where he always fights someones stronger than him, which then he always waits until the last second to use the thing to beat his opponents which just makes each battle drawn out for no reason. It feels like the author wanted to make each fight seem super tough which becomes tedious to read and frankly boring plus predictable.

Then we... more>> get into the main character which in my opinion is a f*cking mess. He is full of contradictions for a while and eventually when his character becomes more stable it doesn't make sense for a person who went to everything he did. Like in every wuxia novel he will offend someone which is a common trope and that's fine however because like stated before is repeated so many times before, it does not make sense that he doesn't learn from the past events and prevent the problems from the future. For example when he offends someone, which happens a lot, the enemy then tries to kill him in a long drawn out battle where the enemy always seem to be a few levels higher than him and when he does beat them they literally say to his face that they will remember this grudge, come back to get revenge, and kill him, which of course then he lets them leave leading to them coming back with more people to kill him. This makes me question the Main Characters mental capabilities.

These problems make it hard to read even though the details are well done, it has solid story, and is interesting. <<less

Spoiler

The main character is way to inconsistent in his personality. Whether he kills, robs, or simple lets go an enemy who ambushes, attempts to use a "sneak" attack to assassinate him, or simply wants to rob him seems to be based on which side of the bed he woke up in the morning (completely random)

Whenever a battle starts (especially when a treasure is involved), we seem to enter what can best be described as turn based combat where plot armor controls turn order.

Cultivation seems to be completely dependent on finding/eating energy filled treasures.

Martial skills after the first several chapters seem to be learned entirely by having some ancient artifact, or a person directly injecting everything into someones head.

You constantly hear people called "Geniuses" or having high levels of talent, but it really feels like its just used as an excuse for them to come back in later chapters at the exact same level as the MC with no explanation other than they found some hidden treasure. (I guess a lot of novels do this.. But this one in particular has a tendency to never kill any introduced enemy.. It's really lucky for the MCs friends/family that they have plot armor with the number of life and death enemies he's let off)

Average novel. My review of Btth (it's prequel) was Mediocre Novel. The writer did improve but nowhere near where I'd rate it as good.

It's a cliche story with almost every fight scene dragging for 5+ chapters. Events repeat themselves, meaning if you've completed the first 100 chapters your next 1100 chapters are done. They are all same. Just change the name of the enemy, power level, treasure name, place name, tournament name.............. that's it. Done.

Last 100 chapters are rushed. Author dragged everything at a slow pace in early chapters then... more>> decided to end the story with a really fast pace (MC started lvl'ing up crazy fast).

MC overly rely on external means of power for the whole novel - item, technique etc.

Romance is almost nill: Light spoilers incoming

-Two love interests:

Qingzhu, really good character, not enough screen time

Huanhuan, also a really good character but you won't even know how they fell in love in the first place

A few one-sided, unrequitted love from female characters.

Writing style: Not satisfying, too many flashbacks, a few good moments at the end but that's it. <<less

I started this novel because I was waiting for new chapters for Against the Gods. For the first 40 to 60 chapters, I was bored out of my wits. Yun Che in ATG is a very interesting MC. He is funny. He is smart. And he mouths off his mouth in a rather pleasant to read manner. However, WDQK's MC was really boring. For the first 50 or so chaps, he pretty did NOTHING BUT TRAIN. The story started off really really slowly. Every single enemy out there is a... more>> big ass moron who mouths off nonsense.

After the story progresses, I had the vague feeling that this story felt familiar to BTTH. In this case you collect AC whilst in BTTH MC went around collecting Flames. The ranking of items etc gave a sense of familiarity. There isnt that much plot armour but... I dont recall much blood boiling hype when you read the story. Usually when it comes to face smacking time it is usually quite satisfying but... not so much in WDQK.

MC had this odd habit to not kill anyone... for a long time. At least this went on for a good time until he starts killing. Even I can tell someone is going to be a pain in the ass down the road, shouldnt you kill him and rob them since they deliver themselves to you??

Girls - There were pretty girls but pretty much non existent romance. No flings. No Harems.. until like almost at the end of the book.

All in all, I did finish the story. But.... hmmm.... not really a fantastic one. <<less

Recommendation: I'd read it up to the second/third volume and deciding if you want to continue since the bare bone of the novel will just be rinse and repeat with new character, higher power, similar fighting scenes.

The Positives:

I enjoy the world building in this novel, from the small town to city and eventually regions and the world itself. It is something I can picture in my head as I read through the chapters.

The cultivation system and the ability of the MC to equally cultivate two type of power as... more>> he progresses add a more intriguing depth to the typical xianxa/xuanhan cultivation system.

Translation are good but you will notice some small spelling errors.

The Negatives: (take it with a grain of salt)

Don't let these negative views turn you away from the novel. Since this is a typical Xuanhuan book, it faces a lot of the boring problems this type of genre faces. To begin, Its a really repetitive novel but still worth a read if you are into BTTH and The Great Ruler. I really enjoyed the first two volume of this novel (Up to Ch639) ;however, everything else is just a repeat. Romance in this novel is not good and sometime feels forced. The harem got really annoying later on as the author introduces random girls that will have no chance to build a relationship with the MC. I found myself skipping a lot of the fighting chapters later into the novel since it was really hard to picture it in my head and got really boring. There are some scenes that will make you think if this guy is an idiot or what despite being call a "genius". <<less

Classic chinese novel that follows the same cliches just like other novel of this author.

So expect a lot of arrogant antagonists creating conflict with the MC, beautiful women start liking the MC after a few interactions and a lot of lucky encounters.

Besides that, this novel also possess one of the most annoying antagonists of all the stories I have ever read that should have been killed a lot sooner.

Overall, read this one if you don't have anything else to read.

I like Wu Dong Qian Kun. It's not 5 stars, but I like it. Of course, expect a lot of techniques and items used early on to be thrown away, simply because they're too useless at a higher realm. Also expect to be confused by cultivation stages early on; just to be clear, it goes Tempered Body 1-9 stage, Earthly Yuan Stage 1-3, Heavenly Yuan Stage 1-3, Yuan Dan Stage 1-3, Form Creation Stage 1-3, Qi Creation Stage 1-4, Manifestation Stage 1-4, Nirvana Stage 1-9, [Profound Life Stage 1-3, Profound... more>> Death Stage 1-3, Samsara Stage (ambiguous levels), Reincarnation Stage 1-4].

Now, by the end of it, you will only know the ones enclosed in the brackets [ ]. It doesn't really matter.

Anyways, Lin Dong is pretty c*cky. I mean, you might infer from his outward appearance as a thin, pretty, and reserved guy, but his inner thoughts are super prideful. Author doesn't expand on it, which is good, because c*cky b*tches are annoying.

Um I can see why people don't like it, but I look forward to it. If it has a bad ending, I'll write another review saying it had a shitty ending and we'll both move on with our lives.

You gotta read it to decide, because it was enjoyable for me at the very least. <<less

My advise? Just read the first arc and drop this when MC start his journey away.

The next arc and so on are literally same bullsh*t plot repeated over and over again with MC describe as op and super lucky as he can grow stronger even by fart and do nothing.

MC is super shitty for his act. The arc are drag most of the time coz MC cant doin his sh*t properly in ending his enemies lives at the chances.

... more>> Just like BTTH, this is crap.

Read it only if u dont hv anything else to read. <<less

I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand it is will written and the story has a good flow. But, I feel that the story isn't that strong to begin with. It starts of as a revenge story but the reason why the MC is getting revenge is kind of dumb when you think about it (I'll talk about it in spoilers). Another thing is the amount of tropes in this story, it manages to hit every single one without fail (OP artifact, wise spirit guide, beauties with jade... more>> like skin, arrogant young master etc.). Although this isn't always a bad thing, there are way too many arrogant young masters in this (nearly any enemy who has a name) to the point where it just gets annoying. The plot armor in this is much thicker than most which is necessary because the MC's treasure hoarding (if he see's a treasure you bet he's gonna got for it) causes him to get chased everywhere he goes. The story can get quite repetitive but this a guilty pleasure that is enjoyable from time to time.

Spoiler

The MC's motive for revenge is his father's humiliation in a fight with a fellow clan member which resulted in him being crippled. There are two reasons that make me think this is a dumb reason for revenge; first off, the fight was a fair match in an arena where you shouldn't complain about getting injuries. Secondly, although the MC's father got crippled the clan offered to heal him but due to his s*upidity he refused treatment which resulted with the downfall of his side of the family.

Mostly well written however the plot can be summarized like this: Meet strong enemy, cheat up/steal up/fish out benefits from random fruitious encounters, come back to annihilate the former strong enemy, rinse and repeat all over and over again. It's okay to read over time when you're bored but the hardcore repetition in the plot takes away most of the excitement 4/5 at most

Although it was quite interesting at the beginning recent chapters are serious let down. I am willing to forgive author for most of xianxia typical weak points like instant power ups or op MC but there got to be a bottom line somewhere. First of all it is repetitive beyond belief, the story for last 200 chapters seems the same, following one pattern: MC sees treasure -> MC steals treasure -> MC is pursued and escapes through plot armor -> MC uses treasure to lvl up. I would be able... more>> to forgive even that if not for a way it is portrayed. For once every danger for any other cultivator turns out to be beneficial for MC and is used to temper his body. Secondly MC blatantly offends clan/sect then steals their belongings and is outraged that other party dares to pursue him and tries to kill him for his crimes, he even swears to avenge this "injustice". Obviously every treasure should belong to MC as his God given right and it is those silly people fault for not realizing it sooner.

The second major gripe I have about this story is that every character is s*upid or unreasonable. Enemy sees MC to survive against all odds and not even once thinks MC can be strong, it gotta be incompetent followers. Stranger sees young rich talented cultivator and their first thought is to offend.
Spoiler

And don't get me started on MC clan. They see him tr*sh a major clan's young master and not even for a second they consider bringing him to their side and strengthening whole clan. I know they are prideful but it is to the point it is beyond ridiculous.

I'd advise everyone who haven't started reading it to stay away. <<less

The story flows well, except at some point the main character got wise without suddenly. Lots of action that feels like DBZ but it's too over exaggerated, and some descriptions make no sense. They replaced the shouting of DBZ with vomiting blood. Lots of abilities and items are forgotten along the way. I like the action and the story but the descriptions are a constant fly in the ointment, like two sounds ads playing at the same time while your reading manga.

The novel is dreadfully repetitive. The author cycles through the same bullsh*t every 10 chapters. The protag encounters an antagonist that wronged, undermined, insulted, or was unreasonably overbearing towards him every other chapter. Said antagonist would either have a higher cultivation than the protagonist or would have a "strong backing" which the protagonist will anger regardless. The protagonist then manages to hold them off long enough to defeat them once his cultivation rises within a couple chapters through chance encounters, then he will overpower those big bosses within his region.... more>> This cycle then continues perpetually throughout the novel. It also introduces a crap ton of characters and includes their backgrounds and family origin, despite the fact that they'll probably never be mentioned again roughly 30 chapters after their introduction.

Spoiler

For example, in the first town, a cousin of his was deemed a young talent by his family. Said cousin also had a weird attraction to the protagonists' 12yy (adopted) sister, making a threat that he was going to ask the family head for her hand in marriage after an internal competition. Protagonist then gets strong enough so that he can overpower said cousin in the family competition. Strongest in family status achieved.

Later there is another antagonist that appears in the form of a "village generational genius" (highest talent of his generation in that village/town) that happens to be from a rival clan that is looking to drive the protagonists' clan out of that town. The protagonist, shortly before an inter-clan hunting competition, becomes just strong enough to overpower that aforementioned generational genius. (Strongest youth in town achieved)

This angers that genius' clan head, who becomes the next main antagonist (which the protag beats). This offends a bigger group (which the protag beats), which was a part of a sect in a larger city (which the protag later defeats and causes to disband). (Strongest in city achieved)

Then there's the clan that his family originated from, where another generational genius hails from, who happened to have crippled the protag's father prior to the beginning to the story, who turns out to be too strong. The protag then goes on a 2 year journey to get strong enough to defeat said genius in time for the- you wouldn't believe it- yet ANOTHER f*ckING COMPETITION. (Strongest youth in clan achieved)

IDK HOW, like how are people able to read this shit, It was already sh*t from the beginning, seeing how much of a pe*vert the author is, and acting so righteous as if all the people not giving it to their lust are just hypocrites, fking piece of shit, with his b**bs that literally tremble when a woman just smiles, when she chuckles, they sway and when she laughs they are already acting like a fking roller coaster, afterwards is the forced s*x as in most of these CN novels,... more>> like it makes no sense to me, It never did, like ok you are drugged ok, fine, but your actions are still your actions, no matter how fking lustful you are at that moment it doesn't make sense to me to go hug someone and afterwards act like ''if you dare to touch me I will kill you'' like what tf? I know is fantasy and all but there are fking limits, you literally can't find just a simple novel, one simple CN novel to read only to deal with your boredom cause it will always have this s*upidity within it.. I was able to deal with it when I first started reading CN novels, but after this many novels I can't deal with it anymore, this is way too common, especially since the MC still had some control over his actions and did it intentionally since the woman threatened him, like WHAT? A woman threatens me that if I dare r*pe her she will kill me? Who do you think you are? How dare you not let me r*pe you? You know what? You pissed me off, so I will r*pe you.
