I, Hanabelle Cantar, am the fiance of this country’s second prince, Remnass-sama.

That is until today.

Just now, I just had my engagement earnestly broken off by the Prince.

Yes, yes, today is the day that I have been eagerly awaiting all this time.

My wish was to become a Librarian in the “Tower of Books,” Biblio Tower.

Since I’ve had my engagement broken off, I should be free now right?

……So why, is Prince Remnass coming to the tower to see me?

He’s a hindrance to my reading, so I will give it my all to have him allow me to humbly push him out!

I'll only be reviewing the oneshot which has been completely translated.

The setting was nicely done with the story moving at a fairly fast pace (as oneshots tend to d0). All the MC wanted to do was become a librarian, so when her engagement to the prince was broken off it let her fulfill her dream. Being surrounded by books is what made her happy, so no matter how much the prince came to pester her she ignored him.

Put simply, nothing and nobody would come between Hanabelle and her love of... more>> books.

Something light and simple to read that has the familiar 'breaking off the engagement' vibes as with other novels. <<less

It's an alright oneshot.

The protagonist aims to be free from her engagement with her fiance, the prince, to go live in a Biblio Tower (basically an elaborate library institution), and finds that she was lucky enough to have her fiance annul the engagement. However, the prince aims to re-establish their engagement.
Spoiler

The reasoning for his attempts becomes clear as the story progresses - he was acting under a spell initially, and did not wish to actually annul the engagement. And the protagonist ends up saving her fiance from the one who bewitched him, the heroine, which happened to be a monster.

[collapse]

I feel that the story could have progressed, even without all its magical and fantastical elements. I don't find that the fantasy elements helped to enrich the story, but rather kind of hindered it. Unfortunately, I didn't really find myself relating to the protagonist very much, since she seemed a tad bit too self-centered. However, the story is alright, and the male MC seems to be a bit likable, although I'm not certain why he likes the female protagonist to the extent that he does. I believe the story could've been better if the story was longer and more fleshed out.

Overall, it's an alright oneshot. I'd recommend reading it once, but I don't think I'll find myself ever re-reading this story.

Humm... Let's see.

Frankly speaking, I wasn't expecting anything, but the story is good.

I liked it, and even if it wasn't the best story in the world, I truly enjoyed reading.

I totally recommend it if you have free time and want a fast (like a "one shot" rsrs) reading.

Keep in mind that sometimes things aren't like it appears?

The story wasn't bad but I feel like for a short story it doesn't cut it and is a bit bland. The plot is intriguing but the fact that it's so short doesn't give the plot justice, in my opinion. If the story was a bit longer so I can relate to the characters more would be great. In short I feel like the plot had a lot to offer but when making it so short destroyed the interesting characters, if the story was at least 10-20 chapters long it... more>> would've been more worthwhile to read.

In the end it's only my opinion, and everyone can disagree with my view but I have read better short stories than this. The plot was just to complex to put into 6 ch. <<less

Actually, this story is quite different from other typical engagement annulment story. Unfortunately, it's not well executed and because it's just a short story, there are many plot holes left unexplained till the end.

Spoiler
  • If the villain just wants to steal the book from the tower, why the need to control the prince? If by means the prince is needed to enter the tower, her action of breaking the prince and MC's engagement surely is backfired because it's just adding another protector for the tower which eventually led to her demise.
  • What is the villain's background? Why did he want to steal the books for?
  • Could the prince just casually stop being a prince and live in the tower just like that?

Short and sweet.

Spoiler

Although it seemed cliche, I did not expect the prince to sacrifice himself for Hanabelle. Maybe I hadn't thought that because I was still in the mindset that the prince is just a jerk.

It's a nice fluff ending, but I did wish to learn more about the "heroine" of the story. I guess they're just there for plot convenience.

4 stars. The story is meh, slightly adorable in the end but still kinda meh for me.

So basically the FL is a book loving girl and the ML is a prince is in love with said girl, not much to say about it.

The story is kinda fast paced with really short chapters and the last one slightly longer than the others. The world build is so-so, they didn't really put much thought into the world other than the tower which was kinda cliché on it's own. Characters were lacking in... more>> originality and I can't say they charmed me. I can count over 5 characters with the same quality as them on top of my head. There really isn't much to say about it it's a one shot so you probably shouldn't expect much but the translation 's pretty good, some slight grammatical mistakes here and there– just the occasional mistakes in spelling and some sentences didn't make sense but nontheless translation 's okay.

Just read the story, you'll probably finish it in some 10 minutes give or take. <<less

It was cute at first but I think there was a glaring plot hole.

Spoiler

Why did Dower have to mind control the prince? I think it was not necessary if he just wants to steal the books.

If you know why, tell me. Maybe I missed it.

I love it! Thank you for translating this novel. :)

For a fantasy story like this, I'd say: What a cute fluff!

It's very short too, so you can easily finished reading it in less than 15 minutes.

Warning! Spoiler!

.

The female protagonist, Hanabelle, finally achieved her dream to be a librarian.

.

I'm quite moved that in the end her ex-fiance, Prince Remnass, abandoned his prince status and become fellow librarian with Hanabelle just so he could be back together with her.

"... Let us continue to read books together! And so, let us go weave our own story together, the only story of its kind in this entire world!" He said.

.

Kyaaaa!!! Kawaii!

Hanabelle, you're not the only whose heart goes doki-doki after hearing Prince Remnass declaration.

.

Hanabelle and Prince Remnass is a cute couple!
