Long ago, there were people who stood upon the earth with their heads held high. They never bowed to anyone because of their indomitable spirit. They were capable of controlling wind and lightning, and conquering dragons and serpents. They seemed strong enough to split the earth and shatter the stars with their fists. They traveled throughout the land and called themselves Magi. Eventually, one of them would become a Supreme Magus! These men are the ancestors of human beings. Their blood is what we all share today.

Qing Long is the former strongest man in the world. He traveled through space and time and was reborn as Ji Hao in the Fire Crow Clan of the Southern Wasteland. It’s a complicated world. Forces from both inside and outside of the clan want this young and talented boy to die. Under great pressure, Ji Hao makes a deal with a mysterious man, who resides in his spiritual space, never showing his real face. He gains two drops of blood from a dragon and phoenix. Afterwards, Ji Hao becomes increasingly more powerful.

Now, I've been thorn between waiting with a judgement 'til 100s, or past 50s, but in the end, I'l go with the latter.

This novel, as far as I can see, has a good potential, interesting presented world and certainly is worth of a try.

It's far from being something I'd call masterpiece, but ain't as bad as some things with outrageous amount of 4s and 5s on the star-scale.

... more>> I give it, for time being, a solid 3. I'll update my review past 100s.

The reason why I'm giving this piece such neutral mark is because it has a flaw, wich makes me cringe a lot, and actually made me to double-think whether I want to continuu or not.

I like stories about op MC. Am somewhat displeased with arrogant shiets like Nie Li or Yun Che... and this story MC is somewhat more reasonable... but what truly grinds my gears is the magnitude of stuff that author throws into us, readers, and that magnitude smacks us like Stalin's light of goodwill shining upon starving Ukraine.... very early in the story, like chapter or two, we get a basic powerlevel measure. The stones - wich I find refreshing term btw - wich comes from a piece of rock that u use to put on childrens back when they run around the "village". SO far it's fair 'nuff. Even when those were stones enchanced with some magic, after Dragonball turtle-backpacks I can pretty much eagerly accept it. But what came next made me frown, literally. Because just after estabilishing this basic measurment unit, even noob-class characters strenght is measured in thousand. Everything is measured in thousands. Things that should be a handful are in hundreds, things that might come in dozens are thrown in hundreds of hundreds. People are knocked hundreds of meter by a punch, a random savage bandit tribe has thousands of guys, the MC clan is old clan, fair 'nuff, some past-glory underdog trope family, but it has thousands of branches. Author mobilize thousands of peoples over simple tasks and everything is big, outblown and outstretched.

*Sigh*

Well, if you can stomach ridiculus and embarassing "big numbers" you might enjoy the thing. <<less

The novel is no masterpiece but it's decent and quite fun at times, but what's really annoying are the ridiculously huge numbers, wtf everything seems to be hundreds/thousands of zhang/feet/miles/ whatheverthehellunitsofmeasurmentisused and NOT ONE OF THEM is accurate, e.g. Which had radiuses of hundreds to thousands of miles, afair there hasn't been an instance when the author wasn't vague and wrote an actual number e.g. 150000 miles
Other than this (which really annoys me), yeah the novel is a good read

Don’t let the 1 star ratings deceive you! Yes, I admit that its very hard to understand the first couple of chapters. But after 50 chapters or so it does get intense and better. Honestly, there are a lot disappointing flaws in this story but I don’t regret reading this. The Author simply just doesn’t explain things well.

Spoiler

Just what was the point of Reincarnation?! He doesn’t use his past knowledge from a technological modern era! Hardly anything from his past life is known. It has no meaning and completely pointless writing him about being reincarnated.

[collapse]

I enjoy seeing his Family moments together. Everyone in the Clan respect and have a brother hood or comrade relationship with one another. Its heartwarming and its one badass family. He was reincarnated in a Ruthless Era before even the Middle Ages.
Spoiler

you could say its nothing but dirt and sand. Even traveling to one town is considered like going to a university.

[collapse]
I really do love how its based on a Tribe Indian thing. Its super badass how his friends are from different races who are strong in their own right. Not human friends but different races group fighting together! So cool~ but alas they hardly talk or have a personality but are just simply 'there'

I really love the Second Arc. Its my complete favorite because we see new characters and a potential Heroine! However the Author doesn’t put characters much to good use since its always about the Main Character! It worries me if we will actually see “Romance”. I still don’t understand why its received high rankings in China with these many inconsistencies.
Spoiler

Second Arc was very amazing. He struggles through life and death just to save that Oujousama. Her character development has truly been one of the best in the Entire Series. I really do wish this was more Japanese-Like since LNs give good filters. But this Novel is always about fighting and getting stronger. No time for the charcaters or friends to interact and breath. I can’t enjoy them like this. We can only see them in their Arc but once the Arc is done they have little interaction and are just ‘there’
This world is so down graded that having s*aves are normal and a huge necessity. Since hardly can one human accomplish so much by himself. At first I thought the MC was cruel and Ruthless but we see many sides of him as time goes by. Even his gentleness. I do wish he had better lines when he’s caring though.

[collapse]
I recommend this to you! Really worth reading some moments. The Vilians are great too! So what if there’s no plot? Its better then some CNs out there. maybe because its not a polygamy harem? <<less

This novel has a decent premise, an interesting world but it's so depressing. It sets up a world with rules but doesn't make any of the enemies follow the rules and so the story just feels so bleak and without hope but not in a cool atmospheric way. Just in a frustrating unfair way. Like for example we have a situation where the human kind is a war with a vastly stronger race and they only really keep their freedom by defending borders. But as soon as the MC gets... more>> involved and tries to do some scheming to destroy some enemy forces the enemy army suddenly has the ability to put a bunch of soldiers in a spacial item and walks into the human territory which just makes no sense because if they can do that the humans would have long lost. Or they are fighting a battle and it turns out the enemy can just teleport more armies to themselves seemingly at will. This was the front lines, the humans can barely fight one army and the enemy have dozens that can just be teleported to them. It's this weird world where the enemy is so overpowered that the human race shouldn't exist in the first place and this just means that at no point in the novel does the MC come out of a fight feeling like they actually won. There are also bullsh*t rules that only seem to apply to the humans. For example we have three Taoist masters who are supa op and supa old and they have supposedly vowed to not interfere too much in mortal affairs. The MC's master actually follows this but the other two just don't one is literally manipulating an empire it's insane how the enemies just aren't bound by the rules the author made for the world and so it just feels like bullshit <<less

I started reading this a few years ago but stopped. Now that I've picked it up again, I've realized how poorly written this novel is after reading some really great novels out there. The first problem I noticed is the author's descriptions of fights or environments are overly drawn out. A chariot someone is riding on took 9 paragraphs to describe (I counted). I'm sure the author was trying to paint it as something awe-inspiring but come on, 9 paragraphs? And the MC isn't very MC like I'm used to now.... more>> Apart from the novel focusing on his adventures, he could be a side character for all I know who was luckily picked to be focused on. He doesn't have any particular struggles or powers to demonstrate he is the MC to me.

The poor editing doesn't help either. This novel is between 2-3 stars and I will update this as I trudge along to see if there's any changes. <<less

Started with the world which is so savage and straightforward way of living. Author 'somehow' forced the readers to adapt to this kind of savage way of living. Just kill, kill and kill regardless of opponents background. If you can adapt to this, then you will surely find the plot started to evolve and you will understand the basic plot of this novel in around 100 - 300 chapters.

The characters development (MC and Side Characters) is good and acceptable. The cultivation description is easy to understand. The setting is decent.... more>> Villains in this novel are really 'clever' in bullshiting and blackmailing.

This is good novel, if you like Ancient Godly Monarch, Avalon of Five Elements, Spirit Realm or Against the God, then you should try The Magus Era. <<less

Update;

I used to like it, however my enjoyability has been decreasing very rapidly recently, due to the MC being great in everything and not bad in anyway, although it was appealing to me and I will still stick with my opinion that it deserved 4/5 for the first 300 chapters but after that, my enjoyability kept decreasing because the MC doesnt struggle, it may be seen that way, but its too easy, I do get it he has OP techniques awesome master and great everything, but eventually it becomes tiring... more>> to read, because if I wanted such a story, I could find it just about anywhere in the xianxia genre and likely even better, so its going on my on-hold list, in the future if I still care about xianxia and the chapters have reached 1500, I might give it a binge but if I cant be bothered, it could also be considered dropped.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I liked it, well if I had to say the first few chapters were not really that spectacular that it made the reader (basically me) feel so cringe that I dropped it multiple times - I just for some reason hate reincarnation stories because they have almost the same first few chapters so no one can blame me for that!!

getting back to it the story is top notch - as can be understood as it is by Blood Red the guy who is also known for Stealing the Heavens - totally worth reading story suggest checking it out; as well as Radiant Era done by Radiant Translations.

still early stages of the story, and the cultivation is not that well explained which is the same with most blood red stories as he focuses on the story, world building and characterisation in all of his novels and leaves the cultivation as simple as possible. The reincarnation could have been left out as it contradicts itself as the MC said that he didnt like people around his age (new life) but then 150 chapters later he is best buddies with people around a year or 2 older than him, if it was done properly blood red could have made the MC find a vestige somewhere in the jungle and then created or inherited that technique of his (not a spoiler as it is explained in the prologue about the technique)...

His dad is weird, like if you were the last remaining member of the pure descent bloodline and knew people in your own clan tried to get rid of you, then drastic measures would have to be taken any way to ensure the survival of your own family...

Also I have mixed feeling about the omni direction the MC decides to take in his studies, I would have preferred if he just stuck with a minimum of 1 field and maximum of 5 instead of dozens of different fields and being a super genius in all of them...

I cant talk much about bad because there has not been much about villains except of that humanity is in danger against a different race and thats it pretty much cant say anymore I guess, also if you have mixed feelings about this world then nothing can be done about this as I think that it might be a bit of a stretch but thinking that this is where humanities earliest point where s*avery, tribes and the like existed I can just accept it and then just leave it be...

Good read, suggest reading!!! <<less

I found this story very interesting. At first in the start of the story, I was a bit confused as to what was going on and almost stopped reading but after like 2 chapters it started to make since. I think the character development is pretty good probably not the best or even close but it is decent enough for me to enjoy reading. I especially like Man Man though don't care for her name. The overall plot is a little hazy not exactly sure what the main goal is... more>> other than being the strongest though that is still good. As for the MC I like his personality for the most part, he is pretty badass along with being OP without being to OP. Overall I enjoy the story and look forward to reading the rest. <<less

Ok seriously the summary needs work because it's just damn confusing and leaving all the good bits. This is the story of the No 1 cultivator on modern earth who created the ultimate magic cultivation technique from studying Buddhism, Taoism and etc. Following the trend, he died and reincarnated into a different world and became the little prodigy 'magus' of the clan awe-ing everyone. Classically he doesn't get enough time to grow strong, so he traded with a spirit for a powerful physical cultivation technique + a drop of Dragon... more>> blood and Phoenix blood each. Okay I wrote too much, basically the novel is very realistic in the sense of potraying the complex human emotions, plots are diverse from multiple factors instead of the always 'one bad guy', and the most important, YOU CANNOT PREDICT THE PLOT! The twist and turns from this novel will leave you jaw dropping with surprise. Whats pleasantly DIFFERENT about this novel from all the other novels is the author's writing. It strays away from the normal wuxia/xianxia plot lines that you guys are still surprisingly not bored of reading the same story with the same plots with the same writing style, just with different MC names. Instead of explaining every single detail of the world all at once like a teacher teaching a student, the author deliberately skips this part and reveal bits and pieces as the story goes on which unendingly gives you a 'oh! So that's how it works!' <<less

I read it and there is like a chain of events and there seems to be no plot at all until chapter 38. Just fighting and new people are popping up like beavers from holes and the MC just seems to know how to do everything. What a letdown.

Now at chapter 51

So messed up it’s like I am reading it for the moronic conspiracy without any mystery and surprise like everybody knows it’s a conspiracy. It is getting good now so I am increasing the rating to 2.5/5

in the beginning I got annoyed by MC always got cornered by enemy without ending... well I still can accept coz MC didnt have good resource, no tutor, weak spell, MC unique spell from previous life along with dragon and phoenix blood only give "Potential" to become strong not explosive power like other MC in other novel and MC still too young around 10 and it's immposible to kill enemy with age more than 100 year but when MC meet his shifu story start to get better, MC get good... more>> guidance, spell and OP life saving treasure

Spoiler

in the previous life MC is strongest man in the world but if MC got to second life along with all his power from previous life he only above average not OP why ? coz in second life all spell and techinque far more advance than first life and if you read MC genius in all aspect that because humankind knowledge about spell, medicine, crafting only reach lv "Basic" for other races and MC already learn few of them from previous life thats why MC easy to master it, one I didnt like MC cultivation speed is slow and enemies so f**king strong

While I do find some aspects of this book a little confusing in regards to the social hierarchy it is rather enjoyable. I especially like the shamanistic approach to power even though it doesn't seem to be used as much as it could be and frankly is somewhat poorly utilized.

Of course, the character of Man-Man is by far my favorite female protagonist of any cultivation novel I have read thus far. I can only hope that she continues to play a prominent role within the story and doesn't become as... more>> lacking in depth as so many other female characters in other novels.

I also hope at some point that the MC figures out a quicker method of travel between the great lands, otherwise travel time will kill this book just as surely as it bored the heck out of me in LoZ: Wind Waker. <<less

A good novel in my opinion. I don't have a lot to say, aside from the beginning is confusing as balls. Takes a while for things to make sense. Just power through the first 10 chapters and you should be fine-ish. Well in regards to understand. Key points

-grey morality

-MC isn't necessarily a good person

If you can't handle either of these two things, don't bother reading this novel. In the way morality is handled in this series is essentially the same as MGA. Strength is morality. Now in regards to the... more>> actual writing, it is alright. Pacing is better than most novels in this genre. The plot is rather upfront. What you see is what you get with this. Personally I like it. Magus Era is about a 3.5, but I gave it a 4 due to my personal enjoyment. <<less

The character development of the MC for meis quite slow. There are points in which I find it hard to believe specially for a reincarnated strongest man to behave like that. That's why I only rated it at 3/5. Overall the story is nice and a good read if you don't have any other better story waiting.

Review at chapter 90: 4.5/5

The general description for this novel can be “Another Xianxia story inside a chaotic world”.

Although MC is a reincarnated one, his thinking process is not mature at all. Him at times does childish things, but this leave a good vibe at the reader, doing it a bit different from common reincarnation stories with an all-knowing MC. For the side characters, though they’re a bit shallow for now, they’re being introduced in the story at a good pace, without rush at all, so I think this will... more>> improve in the future.

Lastly, I can say I have great hopes for this novel in the future. 100% recommended. <<less

Hi, I am the editor of this novel. I have read the comments and although I agree on some of them I like to answer some of the raised questions. No plot?: I can't do much about it, because it is written by someone else and we are only translating it. But if you would compare it with some other novels, I think you would agree that it has still more plot than some of the (popular) novels out there.

Typos?: Yess it did have them. That of Magusreist is indeed... more>> true. But I joined from CH40 onwards, and we decided on Maguspriest some chapters later. So if you have encountered that in the beginning chapters I understand, but I ask to give it another shot. I have re-editing previous chapters from the prologue on and I hope you wont be finding that many typos anymore. To much killing?: Its a chinese lightnovel. I guess (as far as I have been reading them) its a normal part of such stories.

Contradicting stuff? : I dont know, I would need more feedback to give a proper answer on that. But I wonder how this MC can be s*upid if mc's from PMG and ATG are considered geniusses (dont get me wrong, I read those two! But atleast this MC has more potential than those two)

I hope to have answered all the questions and hope you guys continue to support us. Feedback is what makes us improve at what we do, so keep them coming :) <<less

Impressive reading. The story starts fast and already as a teenager. The fact that the MC come for another world is only briefly mentioned then forgotten only giving him more maturity than other children. Although some may says that the MC is s*upid, it's more like he is reacting accordingly with what he knows of the world which means not a lot at first.

The start is a little confusing but the story starts forming around c50-60. The cultivation is unique but some of the enemies in the start are pretty s*upid. I see potential and see why it is doing so well on qidian. The power levels and skills of Hao are a little confusing for me but it should get better once he actually starts cultivating.
