I don't understand why this thing got translated, I mean this thing just Original Character Harry Potter fanfiction. And this thing got a lot of five star too, unbelievable. This make me lost my last faith on Novelupdates rating.

The translation was bad, terrible grammar, broken sentence, and look at chapter 2 when MC get a supply list for first year, author literally write exactly like in harry potter wiki, and translator don't make any effort to cross check about the name written in there was spelled right or not.

MC strong,... more>> can play with soul, make animated corpse, wandless magic, I wonder why he bother too act as a good child to other kid. I guess he go to Hogwart was to learn about this world so a year was plenty of time right? After then get out from Hogwart and disappear but I bet MC will stay more than necessary and I bet this thing will be following the original HP story and no butterfly effect what so ever.

If you want Harry Potter story with different plot go to Fanfiction. Net there are half million story there, and don't waste your time with this thing. <<less

I find this novel slightly interesting but I'm honestly not sure if it's the writing or if it's the translation that is bad.

At the current stage it's just painful for me to read through the first chapters, there are so many grammatical errors, wrong use of words, weird tenses, etc... Right now I would rate it at just slightly better than google translate, which should give you an idea of how it's written.

A interesting twist in the Harry Potter world it really puts depth into a world not from a heroes pov maybe we'll show in depth dark magic research instead of using 5-8 spells over and over again. It also reads smoothly and explains some questions we just sort of ignore (where do the ghost come from/ how are they ghosts)

Seriously, I don't understand why not like this novel, except for the terrible-is-too-little-to-describe translation, BUT it has a really interesting history, I don't actually care about Harry Potter story as the story is terrible, BUT THIS! This is a piece of art, I found few stories in NU that has a good necromancer like this one. He is plainly evil! Like a good necromancer should be, and the necromancy concept is up to my standard.

Yes, this is following the Harry Potter series but I find it extremely interesting because it's from a different point of view. Same events but at the same time it's different. It brings an interesting twist because you can predict what's going to happen but at the same time wonder how differently it'll happen. I even caught up in the raws cause it was entertaining. Also there are original moments because this fanfiction also includes summer vacation which isn't in the original novels. First off, I believe that this should NOT be on Novel Updates, but rather on the many dozens of fan-fic sites out there. That being said, that did not affect my rating for this LN.

This LN follows the Harry Potter series almost scene for scene. There isn't an ounce of originality, and yes its a fan-fic, but there is an entire world outside of Harry Potter that the author didn't bother with. The "new" character, the necromancer, is very self-conflicted with his own personality. He is in love with necromancy... more>> magic and dead things, but wants to get on everyone's good side and then kills a kid for no other reason than he wanted an undead servant. When trying to figure out what I found enjoyable and why I kept reading it became obvious to me that I was actually fairly bored with the story.

Pros:
-If you loved the Harry Potter series than there's few reasons to dislike this fan-fic.
-Apparently the only thing that prevents him from being OP is that he lacks access to dead bodies and necromancy magic takes a toll on his body. Would be interesting to see how the author handles that since he is/isn't going to go on a mu*der spree.
-A lot of the spelling mistakes and grammatical errors seem to have been fixed so its easier to read now.

Cons:
-Very unoriginal Fan-fic. Only originality is to take a necromancer and throw him into the Harry Potter Series.
-Only deviation so far from the original series is one scene where he kills a kid and raises him as an undead-not-so-dead-looking servant.
-Predictable. Since it follows the original scenes you pretty much know how the characters will react. When in class, talk about class stuff/teachers/students. When you have the Sorting Hat, have the MC push the decision to what parents wanted the children to be in. <<less

I really like the story, a note to the translator : Keep up the work and thanks for translating it. First some notes to the story, if it doesn't turn out to be a mary-sue story and the MC struggles in the future chapters then I am fine with it. Second of all its interesting to see how the MC doesn't know anything about harry potter. Quite good in my opinion, after all I would just dance around while screaming that I can cast magic. The novel is really interesting. It shows the wizarding world through a very different perspective than just the one we have seen in Harry potter. The two different magic systems intertwining also brings forth a number of questions. How will Benjamin's previous magic compare to the great magics of his new world. We will just have to find out. Don't even have to wait to long as the tl seems to update just about every day.
