These characters made me stop reading before the end. The sheer s*upidity just ruined any enjoyment I could derive out of it, though I'll have to spoil it to explain why.

Spoiler

Chapter 1: Girl A receives a love letter in her shoebox.

Chapter 2: Girl B sends a love letter to Girl A (happens right before chapter 1)

Chapter 3: Girl A recognizes Girl B's handwriting and is overjoyed because she loves her to. Out of nowhere, she starts to angst over whether she meant romantic love or (lol) love between friends.

Several chapters: They faff about for a while, first angsting and then pretending nothing happened. Girl A outright asks Girl B if she saw someone put a letter in her shoebox, Girl B says that yes she saw, but she doesn't know who it was, implying it was not her. The implication is never addressed again.

Chapter 12 or 13: They are sharing a room and just randomly wake up, Girl B admits it was her, confesses, Girl A says "me too" and they make out for a while as if the few weeks of dithering did not happen. The angst session is not addressed, neither asks why the other did not ask anything more about the letter during the period since.

[collapse]

tl;dr writer starts writing a generic angsty romance story, but then just kinda loses steam and decides not to, making the characters seem kinda idiotic. <<less
