Personally, I am currently enjoying this novel but If I can be honest...

it would be more entertaining if he actually was blind but the fact that he isn't and is just pretending because that item helps him become OP faster is low-key killing the fun for me

What a way to gut a perfectly good concept. This overpowered item with absolutely no downsides. A blindfold which doesnt even function as a blindfold. Like its not even that he can simply remove it any time he wanted, but that there isn't any reason to because he can simply see through it.

Like what if it gave him an echolocation/ mind's eye sort of ability rather than just being able to see through it? That would be so much more interesting.

And not to mention, some of his relationships are very... more>> much formed on the basis that he can't see the other person/ girl and thus he's interacting with them due to their personality/ nature rather than because they just look attractive. That they trust him and have sympathy for him because he's blind.

What a way to start off a relationship completely wrong. He can't even just reveal to them that he wasn't blind all along but was wearing the 'blindfold' as a sort of practice by limiting his senses. Because he's just able to see through it. <<less

I kinda enjoyed it for 30+ chapters but it weirdly feels like it's lacking info?...

Reading it I kept feeling like there had to have been a chapter I skipped or something cause leaps in story and relationships kept being made. All of a sudden he's friends with a character having talked to them a total of 3 sentences? He kinda just does things but were only told the result... it's pretty disjointed writing.

I'll echo what someone else said, this would actually be way more entertaining if he really was blind.

This is a really good novel, the concept is unique and done well. If you are a sucker for misunderstandings then this is a novel for you.

The harem is a bit annoying, some of the scenes feel like unnecessary fan-service and give me brain damage but the heroines are overall likeable.

The MTL is not bad although it needs some editing.

Spoiler

I never thought id say this but there are too many goddamn waifus. Like 6 or 7 man author calm down. I really hope he just ends up with Eisel.

This is an OP fantasy harem novel. The MC has reincarnated/transmigrated into a game world, and brought a "hidden piece" (read: gamebreaking) blindfold equipment with him. He then proceeds to break the game. No, he's not blind, he just acts blind for a bit and then gets senses so good it doesn't matter either way.

To clarify, he's not really in a game, but he still has some pieces of the game system, notably doing quests for EXP, and levels in general. Nobody else is a 'player' in that sense, but... more>> they know about levels and such.

The really interesting thing about this story is actually about one of the FL's, Aizel. In the game, Aizel was endlessly regressing over and over, and the player character can realize this and try to break the cycle. So when Zetto (MC) actually gets incarnated in the game, he of course wants to break the cycle. Unbeknownst to Zetto, Aizel has memories of the previous cycle that Zetto was also in, and that cycle ended in both of them dying. So she starts acting differently around Zetto, which of course makes him ignore her more and start focusing on powering up faster, which breaks the future death flags but leaves Aizel quite nervous. It's easily the most interesting aspect of the story, especially because you can pretty easily puzzle out what Zetto succeeded or failed at in the previous cycle, and how much he's basically one-upping himself.

Powersets and worldbuilding wise, it's pretty regular fantasy, with dragons and magic and evil demons, but zetto's character is a blind samurai oops all agility & strength build. He does OP crazy things, but for the most part his core powerset isn't changing, which I appreciate. It's not like he learns how to shoot fireballs to cover a weakness, he just gets even better at the sword (mostly). The characters and environments are pretty interesting and don't have plotholes, but its nothing particularly new. The level of fanservice type scenes is pretty moderate, but some of the later ones get really really weird and bad.

Ok, Characters and their personalities: I quite like Zetto (MC). The author does a very good job of making him come off as mellow and ethereal to others, while still having a pretty calm but much more human inner monologue. It's an interesting character archetype that I haven't really seen anywhere else, and I respect it. I'd argue his personality and worldview on the situation is one of the major draws of the story. The only issue (s) are his interactions with the female harem members, but it's honestly more like Zetto stops acting like himself more than anything else, which I hate. I mostly hate the harem.

Aizel/Eisel is a stalker yandere who dated Zetto in the previous cycle, Yuri is the token 'never had friends before' hothead, Caen/Karen is literally the wierdest horniest human being I have ever seen written why did the author do this it's so gross there's an entire chapter of her sniffing Zetto's c*otch and fantasizing, Bernice just honestly wants to date him, and Sierra is his ghost swordteaching master who is canonically an evil spirit who drinks blood. There are more actually. I've heard mentions that this harem ends by

The story is quite good. Not without flaws, but it's normal. The main character himself is a normal guy, despite the fact that he acting for a specific purpose. He is sincere, which already makes you sympathize with him. And considering that he will fulfill his goal even at the cost of his own life, what we know from Aizel's explanations, does our hero honor. And this is despite the fact that he realizes that he is not in the game, but in the real world, i.e. He is not... more>> afraid to suffer or perish. He also doesn't act recklessly. <<less

I honestly think that this has great potential and could absolutely be an amazing novel, the 9 chapters are great start and as long as they don't mess up and ruin the middle or the end this definitely could be in my top ten or your top ten. I really recommend this, a shame that this yet has 9 chapters right now, really recommend.

and has some attachment to the MC, and an "instructor" who takes interest in the MC, at least up until the point I have read too. Overall, the novel is pretty good and has a lot of room to explore newer tropes and maybe even dive into the MC's "blindness" and how it affects him. Obviously, this is all based on the first few chapters, but it can be great. So far, this novel is about a 4.2/10 <<less

Meh.

This feels like an amateur saw a good novel, and then tried to write his own version, and now it's full of holes and mediocre because he is, as I said, an amateur.

The overall idea is nice, but the fact that the guy isn't actually blind, and doesn't have to overcome it using mana or whatever makes it subpar. It kills the concept. It's clearly only there to seem cool. Honestly, at least the author could make the blindfold block his sight to force him to train some kind of... more>> extra perception, and the MC could just tell others it's for training, and he's not actually blind. Now I'm left wondering what kind of crap will go down once others find out. And well, the tag voyeurism doesn't really sound like something I'd look forward too.

If you want a story about a cool swordsman who's actually blind, try the manga Until death do us part.

This novel is very rough around the edges. The story jumps a bit too much, there are many plot holes and mediocre points as I said (there's a lot of setting and character points missing; for example, we don't know what the motivations of the MC actually are, and it's basically "I like that character so let's not let her die"... which is low effort, and it isn't even done too convincingly - try Demon Limited Hunter for a much better execution of this trope).

Again, maybe I'm giving up on it too early, but it's meh in various ways. I don't like it.

Oh, by the way, the first 9 chapters are kind of poorly translated (edited MTL it seems), but the translator changes starting from chapter 10, so you just have to endure that. <<less

Story is fun and quite interesting. The translation is a bit meh, but readable. First few chapters are worse, around c10 I think, it gets better.

My main con-points are:

Spoiler

I feel like, for some reason, the author was afraid to make the MC blind for real and make this whole thing an isekai. It is kind of disappointing. Having a blind MC would have made this a lot more interesting and could have added an interesting element to the story.
Isekai in itself is not the problem here, it is how shallow it is done. One moment MC is in his world, the next he got isekaied, kind of whack. Not only that, but it would have been much more interesting to start the novel with the MC's struggle to live without his eyes. Instead of the MC crafting a 'fake' backstory, if the author made it a real backstory instead, it would have added quite a bit of depth to the story. Like, the author keeps killing interesting plot strands. The way the author did it, everything feels kind of pointless and the MC is so detached from everything, mu*dering all kind of tension and interest.
The concept of this novel is so great and promising, but the author just, idk, did not want to get us invested? It feels like tension and engaging characters have been avoided as much as possible.
Then again, maybe I am just weird and cannot understand what the author was trying to do here.

Instead, that quirk seems to be used more like padding to the story to set a mildly entertaining misconception of the main character than anything else

with some exception to that one scene that has the main character wanting to go see the ocean or something. That made for some interesting emotional impact (on the character with the misconception of the protagonist).

Besides that however, it's still pretty dry, with the story following typical tropes you'd see in any other cookie-cutter novel of this kind. I hope to see more in the future... is what I'd say if GalaxyTL didn't IP block my country. I guess this is where my reading of this novel ends until another TL picks it up. It's a shame.

[There may be some minor spoilers in this]

The very premise of having a MC with a blindfold and sword was definitely very interesting and author could have wrote a masterpiece if the plot was executed properly.

The story is good to read if you're looking for something just to pass sometime out of boredom.

There's a lot of things that doesn't sit well with me in this novel. Let's start with the most basic, he's NOT able to reject any request of any woman. Even if he has to go acquire some... more>> skill which is essential, he would put it off for later if a woman asks him out for dinner which is a big turn off for me. I don't specifically have anything against harem routes but that is only when MC is not brain dead.

The author is OBSESSED with expanding Harem, so much that even the Hero who was a male in his past life reincarnated as a Female. The lack of male characters is overwhelming. Not being a misogynistic but how the hell is almost every important character a female??

There is many things that doesn't even make sense. For one, why is he so adamant about "saving" the regressor heroine? Yes, I can understand wanting to save a character you liked if you transmigrated in the novel/game but that's under the condition that you're not putting YOUR life in danger for it, which the MC does despite knowing he won't just "resurrect" again, unlike the regressor. This sudden love but not love confuses me. I even thought that maybe he's just saying that in a figurative manner BUT then in the regressor's POV you learn that it turns out he really did die in the previous turn. This was enough to baffle me. This leads to another issue, what happened to the MC of the precious world? Or the world itself? If you have read the complete Omniscient Reader Viewpoint you will get what I mean.

Lastly, how is it that MC can kill a human so easily? Note that he is just teen who used to play games. A normal human of our world would feel appalled at even the sight of a corpse but he's able to kill without any change or transition in his mentality. How? I don't like indecisive MCs but there is usually q transition or authors show what made them start killing.

It's also a mystery how his relationship with every woman is based on a lie. The first being that he is blind. Secondly, it's weird how open they are specially his "master" and the regressor, who would try to physically harass him like getting hin to grope their chest or something. Specially the master. Do they not know what s*xual harassment is or what? Well, the MC lowkey enjoys it so can't really say anything.

Overall, I feel deceived by the good reviews tbh so this long review was a vent as well but at least I am being honest with my opinions 🤷‍♂️

I'm stopping at c192 now, as it's the end of part 1.

This novel is by no means a perfect one, as I had a lot to complain about. Nevertheless, simply by reading the chapters at the end of part 1 made me think that all chapters are build up for the part 1 epilogue. I won't say much as it will spoil the story. Just, for me, I don't care about how many and how bad the previous chapters are, because the end (of part 1) is simply worth the... more>> read.

There's so much of the story left, but I don't think I will complain if the author ends it at part 1. <<less

Has no one seen the movie The Blind Swordsman: Zatoichi?, I mean there is a whole novel and a TV series in black and white, the closest iteration of that character is done by Takeshi Kitano (Beat Takeshi)

This novel is like a love letter to that character.

You really need to watch that movie if you haven't by the way, I mean, if you haven't you won't miss much since this is an entirely different story and character but it's obvious that the character here, Zetto is a re-interpretation of... more>> that character, there are a lot of nods in the story to the movie
Spoiler

the scene in the gambling house is one of them, Zatoichi is a wandering blind masseur, Zetto is a wandering blind acupuncturist, both obviously seem blind at a first glance etc.

[collapse]
if you're enjoying the story, do yourself a favor and go watch the movie, it's fantastic and you'll basically "see" how Zetto fights because Zatoichi uses a similar technique (without the supernatural element to it).

That being said, the story is your regular school mystery with RPG-lite elements where the MC is Isekaied without knowing wtf happened AND is obsessed with a character in the game that is a regressor and wants to save her, so he goes and tries to become stronger to do just that.

The best part are the fight scenes, and the plot advancement is fantastic, serious when it needs to be, funny when appropriate, misunderstandings when needed, it's well constructed.

So yeah, read this, watch the movie, and read this hahaha. <<less

Honestly, I thought this had very much potential and the concept of the blindfold and its abilities as well as a blind swordsman had me very interested. However, I was quite disappointed mainly because of the odd female behavior of aizel, kaen and such. If it had steered away from all this 'getting the MC to love you' and instead focused on the story, character development and less extreme but more explored girls (personally would've preferred one love interest) , it could've been a 5 star from me. Had potential.

I went and read the MTL because I was so invested, I didn't see the harem tag before I started reading and after I saw it I was already past many many chapters, I was like 'what is the worst that could happen?' And then the MC was like 'I love them all and I want them all to be happy' and then I immediately lost all interest and stopped reading.

It was long ago that I read this, and I really hoped that MC (zetto) and the yellow haired girl... more>> got together because they just had the perfect backstory to get together. And I really hated the pe*verted pink haired girl who turns into an animal in heat when she sniffs the MC. The harem thing ruined it all...

But it really is a good story if you ignore the harem or if you don't mind it so go ahead and read it if you don't mind harems.

Another thing I was curious and annoyed about was when the MC would reveal he is infact not blind (atleast to his close friends), but he never did (at the point where I stopped reading he had yet to do it). It is a good thing to take advantage of when facing enemies I guess, but he came off as a bit of a pe*vert to me, especially the uncomfortable moments when the girls trusted him but he was seeing everything. <<less

This review is written after this gets dropped.

The problem with this is that they did not end this after part 1. Part 1 is well executed enough with build up and development. But it ends with such a dramatic event that it forces the characters to react, and in turn the story commits a cardinal sin of the harem genre- it forces the end of the romance route too early.

A writer CAN make a harem work after actual romantic resolution, but is can be hard when you set your entire... more>> pacing around introducing and helping romantic interests. This story based its foundation on save a romantic interest from a cruel predestined fate, so it lost a lot of its footing when it tried to transition.

They also focused the story on preknowledge through transmigration into a fictional world. This lead the plot to go off the rails at the same time the in setting plot went off the rails. After that, truly significant events often revolved around things he had no prior knowledge about, so the protagonist feels more passive since he is no longer the active driver of the plot. <<less
