Two Korean military soldiers, San and Biyeon, are participating in a joint forces exercise when their futures become intertwined through an accident, leading them down a path of struggle, pain, frustration, longing, and enlightenment.

Their adventure starts in a new world, a world where things are not always as they seem. Common sense needs to be reviewed and old ways of understanding the world no longer apply.

Only their determination and will drive them forward. What is the limit of human potential? How much can be planned and how much must be left to chance?

They can only depend on their will to blaze a path forward…

This is actually written quite well, (so far anyway.)

The MC seems very reliable, even though he will shout and curse like most soldiers do, he kept his calm. This calm is what will basically ensure his survival.

Once more chapters come out, I will come back and edit this. But so far, I'm looking forward to this one, hope it doesn't disappoint.

The story was fascinating until the mid 100's chapters.

Spoiler

I got lost once they started settling down and trying to build their own organization.

[collapse]

There also seems an excess of blatant foreshadowing to the point that it feels forced fed. For example, every and then the author had to let me know how awesome the main characters by telling me that they will appear in the songs and poems sung by these village idiots that were following our heroes around.

This story, at least so far, is shaping up to be a relatively novel take on isekai/cultivation themes. Because the main characters are a duo, the problem that many cultivation plots fall into of the protagonists being isolated loners who are always getting stronger than all of their friends is mitigated, and it provides a good chance for some romantic tension. Worldbuilding seems fairly decent so far, as far as innovation goes, and I'm curious enough about where the plot is going to keep reading.

Unfortunately, it's not going in my... more>> top 10 stories list anytime soon. While the setting is fairly original, the plot moves a little too fast and setting descriptions tend to be lightly skimmed over rather than described in depth. (This may change as the story moves past the prologue; it's hard to tell.) The main couple is a little bit more OP than I personally find satisfying, but at the same time their powers and capabilities are pretty generic.

TL;DR - Not perfect, but good enough that I'll be keeping up with it for a while to see if it improves or I get sick of it. <<less

I really wanted to like this... At the beginning, we're only given the main characters perspective (there are 2 of them!) after being s**ked into this new world and struggle to survive. They do a great job of planning out how to survive while feeling like strong, intelligent, REAL people. Once we start getting more perspectives though, everything starts to get messy and hard to understand. Combined with the authors obession with leaving the reader in the dark about pretty much every plot point after chp 20, I ended spending... more>> most of this novel just wondering wtf is going on.

Pros:

  • 'Power levels' are kept pretty grounded and you can tell that the later levels were (somewhat) kept in mind from the very beginning
  • The world is a surpising mix of sci-fi/fantasy/cultivation tropes that's made to work by utilizing different character groups perspectives. The bad guys are logical and define everything with scientific terms, the humans give us a medival fantasy perspective, etc.
  • The characters are really great at the start...
Cons:

  • The author likes to leave the reader in the dark. We will be told that the main charcaters make a plan, find a secret, expand on their power, or deal with a problem, but it doesn't become obvious what their plan is, what secrets they've uncovered, how much stronger they've gotten, or how they've dealt with their problems until it's relevant to the present.
  • The characters were really great at the start... then our perpestive as the reader is zoomed out and we're not allowed to know what they're thinking half the time. They turn into these 'perfect' people that you only observe from the outside and become totally unrelatable.
  • The sci-fi side of things starts to feel really out of place when they start trying to 'codify' emotion. It also gets super cringy.
  • Naming conventions. Algon, Alchin, Archin, Archon = Monsters. Yeria, Yekin, Yerum, Yesil = A group of siblings. Is this hard to undertsand? Yes! Does it remain consistent? No!
  • Also, the pictures?! I don't even know why they're in there. They just distract from whats happening and it doesn't feel like any work was put into them (other than the monster portraits)
