Currently translating this. So far it seems interesting but it will take some time to see how it goes. As for the title name, I tried to change it to Emperor! He can see stats!? But it doesn't seem I can change it once it is created. As for the current title shown on here, Emperor! Can you see stats!? It is basically the same thing, as a matter of fact, it is better English than your original suggestion of, The Emperor! He can see the stats!? That sounds like... more>> Starfire from Teen titans go.

The title of the Novel is s*upid to begin with anyway, but the Novel itself seems good so far. <<less

A pity. Two reviews from translators, both disappointing disasters.

That used and re-used setting kobatochandaisuki describes is called genre. Not to mention that it makes no logical sense to criticize a work based on how often a particular style had been adapted.

Going from the two available chapters, the story seems to have potential. The writing style suggests it is the usual Korean Western-styled sword and magic story line. If you take a look at the title, the cover, the description, the two chapters, I assume we can expect something in the... more>> way Revolution of the 8th Class Mage is written.

The unique element of the novel is probably the appearance of the game system. Don't forget, it's a second chance novel. Meaning, the MC attains twice the usual advantage. This has been done before, but it's rare. [Edit: Not rare at all, unfortunately. Quite naive of me. ] This situation also suggests there will be an early detour from mc's past experience, as otherwise he won't face any significant challenges.

This might become a problem if the author insists on prioritizing villains who shouldn't have had the time to mature, yet, like mc's brother. <<less

I really like it.

I am really enjoying the power fantasy, because even if at its surface it's all "he suddenly became OP" and the usual "heroes journey" and him gathering "followers" and getting "power" at each turn, the god damned politics are very good.

MC haves the advantage of knowing how things will move forward and creates contingencies to suffer the minimum amount of loses in a rebellion.

... more>> He could, of course, go to war and kill everyone with his overwhelming ability.

But that's what made him lose in his previous life... he wasn't OP but he was a talented fighter and had competent people supporting him.

The "loss" of the Empire was because of the protracted war where he was forced to make all his country suffer, so he lost allies at each turn, because of the schemes of the opposing faction... it was a long conflict that chipped away little by little at his power, he wasn't "smart" enough to prevent human loses, he was always "reactive", he was always "losing" something whenever he fought, and the people suffered so much that they were happy to see him die at the end.

So yes, it's "painfully generic" as another reviewer said, because it follows the exact same pattern of "heroes journey" we all already know, but the story is focused not only in that, but the politics of the empire, and it makes it very clear that even if he gains overwhelming power, he will lose in a direct confrontation, the enemies had a long time to prepare even before he turned back time.

Because he's not the only existence with overwhelming power... if anything he has just managed to enter the stage where he can face 1v1 against another "super-human".

The heroes' journey isn't about him becoming "unreachable", it's about him leveling the playing field... and just barely at that.

the REAL story is how he prevents a direct confrontation against his enemies, or at least stalls it enough till he is sure to win.

Tsun-Tzu said it, the best way is to win before the battle is ever fought.

So, with knowledge of his previous life, he supresses the schemes of the adversary, he creates a different power that isn't tainted by it, he confuses spies, he prevents them from acting by fooling them, he dismantles schemes little by little, in a way that it doesn't look like he did anything particularly "great" or "against" them.

This careful balance of internal politics, interest and national power is what makes the story good!

There is quite a lot of plot armor, sure, but the dread is still ever-present... specially since the enemies also have a lot to lose if they confront him directly without reason... both factions want the Empire, not a war-ravaged land, if they can avoid the ultimate consequence, they can keep scheming at the back till they can give the decisive blow.

And this is what makes it interesting, by bluffing and using knowledge, he's keeping them at bay till he can truly face them, that's what gives this novel a good grounding, even if at the surface level it feels like just another heroes journey.

I mean, sure, it still haves flaws, but the politics and conflict of the MC isn't about him overcoming all odds by challenging his enemies upfront, which makes it interesting in on itself.

you like schemes? you like smart political ploys? you like OP MCs?

you will enjoy this. <<less

Two words can summarize this novel: Painfully Generic.

MC dies, goes back to the past, gains system, becomes the best. MC also knows everything and, even though it's been decades since he has studied, he remembers everything too. Everyone praises the MC. Yada, yada, yada.

The author doesn't even wait. It goes from Above Average > Almost as strong as the strongest people in the world in the span of a few chapters, lol.

Basically, I just dropped it. I saw no sense in continuing when everything about this novel is as generic... more>> as it could get. <<less

This novel seems promising though there is only two translated chapters as of posting this review so it’s too early to judge... As of chapter 1 the political setup is promising with some tension and faction being established. Smh the way the story start reminds me more of villainess novel than normal rebirth novel so that kinda pick my curiosity.

I have soft spot spot for political, war and game elements. The more such novel could be translated the happier I will be ;) Regarding the title since there are... more>> many weirder title in novel, games, etc and also I feel the novel should not be given bad review just based on the title. But hey, to each their own.

Anyway writing this review with hope that someone will continue translating it~ <<less

Every time the secondary and tertiary characters can't handle their own problems and need to get rescued, the idea comes that if they just hurried up and died already you wouldn't have to go through another few chapters of the secondary and tertiary characters being incompetent and requiring the MC to come save them. Yet here we are 180 something chapters into the story with MC's supposed best of the best followers needing to be rescued by MC once again and the author spending multiple chapters to demonstrate how dire... more>> the situation is. Oh not dire enough? Lets make it worse. Dude, just let them die. It's clear the author uses these characters to instill tension that doesn't otherwise exist because the MC never really is at a risk of losing, thus the allies otherwise described as masters at what they do must always be at risk of dying while he's not around. Oh MC has to go away for a while for a training montage? Gee, I wonder what's going to happen to his allies while that happens?

beyond this annoyance, the story is actually pretty good, but this annoyance is growing so great that if it wasn't for how close the end of the story is I would be dropping it. Clearly the story was decent enough to get me to read 85% of it and clearly as the final arc comes to a close this terrible trope will rear its head more and more frequently but for real dude, if you're going to use your supporting cast like this, you might as well not have them. <<less

The story isn't bad, but it doesn't have much that makes me want to continue reading. The story does something that I think it done really well, where it feels like their is an actual information gap. The main character will plan for things while missing hidden cards of the enemies, which feels rare in these stories. Its not always done great since the MC obviously has to win so he has to be able to counter the card, but its still something that I feel like a lot of... more>> novels lack.
Some complains:
Spoiler

So the main reason why I'm dropping this and that I think I've lost so much interest is because of how the main character is scaling in power. It sets itself up for him to be somewhat weak, with his past life him never being a 4th level with him relying on his wife for everything, but this time along he just basically solves everything with brute force. His power allows him to conceal that he is 4th grade, which by itself makes me think the story is setting itself up for him to be weak in frontal fights due to the more support type ability, with him having to again rely on his wife and knight order to be the main fighting force with him using his actual power as a trump card but instead it turns into his knight order being basically worthless, including his wife, and he himself has to be the main fighting force which I just feel like is a missed opportunity. Its not bad, a lot of stories do it, but with how he was set up it felt like it would of been better to develop his actual knights as the main force, with him acting more as a leader with hidden power.

Then you get how he obtains his power, which just feels like plot bs with him being a player. Its something I can overlook but it just feels lackluster on how he keeps getting these broken abilities (Cutting through space, white tiger, azure dragon, ect.)

The player aspect itself I think would of been really interesting if they framed it as him being a player but not understanding a lot of the terms that we use to describe things, but it doesn't which just makes me feel like its something the author is using to make him powerful.

Last the novel feels very dry romance wise... It sets up the female lead pretty early with him being his past wife, and it would of been interesting based on how their relationship was closer to allies in their past life but the novel just never goes anywhere because its always "I need to focus on x enemy" over and over.
To kind of expand it feels like he is lacking any real goals or motive. He doesn't seem to have a strong attachment to being emperor, he doesn't care about his relationship with female lead (Where he wants to make it safe for her, ect.), he doesn't have a major grudge against the cult, where just overall it feels like he doesn't have a main motive. He wants to gather the player stuff, but why... He doesn't seem to admire players, he doesn't seem like he is using it for power, ect. which I think just overall makes him feel very flat as a character.

Overall, the story itself was not bad but I feel like it had a lot more potential and it just didn't meet my expectations.
