Is it really so hard to write of summary of group of teenagers with superpowers who fight to protect their post-apocalyptic world from mysterious monsters referred to as Unknowns? Anyways....

The novel starts off with Chigusa Kasumi a military branch dropout who now works at South Kanto’s City of Defense -Chiba’s- manufacturing branch’s research and development team. He slowly goes on his routine reminiscing how tokyo, japan (and the rest of the world) went to s*** and talks to other people doing nothing exciting. That's all of 4 chapters with backstory.

... more>> If you are used to the fast-food type of story this isn't for you as it takes time to develop the characters and how the MC interacts with others (at least that what it seems). It feels like a slow build-up to something but you won't see anything as all the action takes place in the background outside the MC's scope until what I assume is the end of the volume. Its an okay novel for me but it seems to be teasing a mystery that isn't all that interesting to me as nothing really pulls my attention nor anything done new. In my opinion it's 2 stars. <<less

This was an amazing read. I'm not familiar with other series of this franchise but I really enjoyed reading this.

The writing is almost what you would expect from the author of Oregairu. It's about our MC trying to help his coworker win the election as the City Leader. It explains and deals with the issues of that world quite well. But I feel like things were quite simplified from reality.

Like the election of the city head is almost similar to a class representitive election. Mc's candidate literally becomes an idol to get votes. The opposing side military branch breaks down the whole stage, Mc's side show how the military branch is a bully by this. I feel like for an election for a city head, things are too simple

MC reminds me of a collabration of Hachiman and Ayakanoji, he's kinda broken inside but not depressive. He simply doesn't care about anything. He has high specs like Ayakanoji but he's not as Op as him. Combatwise he's really weak. But this isn't really an action novel.

Also MC is a siscon and her sister is a brocon. There is no romance in this but their relationship is quite beautiful. <<less
