On this land of real souls, with millions of different martial art institutions, there’re so many strong fighters just like the trees in the forests.

Among all, a mediocre apprentice from one of the mediocre institutions suddenly became a martial art genius after a mysterious incident. Not only did he acquire a photographic memory and keen perception, but he had also come to discover that his ability to comprehend martial arts is astronomically good, which eventually made him an almost godly existence.

From the hot-blooded intense battles to the clashes between the top geniuses, Martial Arts is no longer limited to the mortal world, it reaches to a level that can do everything from controlling the oceans to flying up the sky and diving under the ground.

This is almost a copy of PMG.

If you ever read PMG and thought:

"If it only had fewer instances of constant unnecessary repetitive conflicts with insanely arrogant idiots, then I'd be satisfied, even with a lower quality of writing"

then this is for you.

Warning: I may be biased as I am the current editor

Main character is quite level headed. He takes on what he knows he can take on, and will shoot for third place if first is too difficult (shocker in xianxia). Granted, so far, the story does not have too much "excitement" that causes people to desperately want the next chapter. However this novel is on the top fifty of all time novels of all genres and top 20 of all novels in its genre so fingers crossed for exciting plot... more>> development!

Edit: So after editing this novel for awhile, I realize this author really likes to throw in really random things that were never there before (i.e. The ending of ch 49 where author goes oh yeah this is stronger than this other-thing-which-I-have-never-mentioned-before) which makes the TL and I blow a fuse trying to figure things out. But other than that Ye Chen is still hidden op MC <<less

Another sufferer of what I call "Chinese webnovel syndrome"- mediocre regurgitated plot, subpar writing. If there's anything the typical weak -> strong xianxia/xuanhuan shares, it's these two traits. How this managed to get to the top ten of Qidian charts baffles me.

Most of these reviews were written months ago when the novel first started and I don't think they are very accurate. This novel is well written and interesting. The MC is motivated, conducts himself pretty well and is not that arrogant like other reviews have claimed. I have 50-60 books on my reading list and this is one of my top 5 currently. The novel has become more and more interesting as the story progressed!

Better than PMG. Why? Because it has no Harem, and the main character isn't as bad as the MC for PMG, who, as you know is common for this genre, becomes a million times worse than the worse bully they have ever met, and are all psychopaths by ever definition of the word.

Though that is not much when I consider PMG the worst web novel currently being translated (in that its the most generic of the generic, except more boring, obvious, and generally not exciting or fresh), and I would... more>> rate it a 0 if it was possible.

So yeah, if you hated PMG, don't read this, its just a better version of PMG without the ret*rded shit.

If you like PMG, read this. It doesn't have the ret*rd shit. But it is still pretty generic, and like most of the series of its kind, it offers nothing new to the genre, and does nothing new. (So far)

To describe this series... just think of any series you have ever read (not by Er Gen, Mao Ni, or others who are superior writers), and only the ones who you can classify as mediocre writers (pretty much 90% of all the chinese xian xia series here), and boom. You have this series. I don't even need to summarize any parts of this.

Its filled with tons of cliches that you have all seen and read before. Even the worst cliche that chinese people LOVE to use, that pretty much never even matters and nothing would change if it was taken out: Transmigration/Reincarnation from "modern earth".

In other words, if you haven't read this series before (which I doubt), start with something else... like... I dunno, there aren't many ones I consider of worthy note.

I would suggest something from Er Gen, or Mao Ni. They have superior writing (or maybe its just that the translators are really good) compared to well... these common generic series. <<less

Haha, I don't know why, but I really like the "broken off engagement thing". Happens 7 times out of 10. The MC is intelligent with a lot of comprehension skills. Unlike other reincarnated main characters, this one was roaming around as a soul to choose a body and already knew the world he was in somewhat. He utilized his comprehension skills and hard work to rise up. As of now, there's the same old pattern of internal strife in the family. I feel that it would need another 20-30 chapters... more>> to make a complete review, but this is a good one for people who like the genre. <<less

I'm really enjoying this series... it's nice to read a series that isn't as slow build as most other xianxias, where you have to wait a hundred chapters for each realm advancement. He advances pretty quickly and I do enjoy how things are going. A big 5 stars for enjoyment :D

As far as chapter 175 this novel has offered nothing new to the already repetitive genre, there hasn't been even 1 moment of suspense yet, the characters have boring personalities and gets forgotten in 10 chapters, the writing is subpar at best, the world suffers from what I would like to call "bigger is better" syndrome, where a lake can have a length of 650k miles. Which to give you an idea, is larger/longer than the circumference of jupiter by 150k miles, so it's impossible to imagine even with a... more>> superhuman imagination and thats only 1 river in 1 'country'. The 'martial arts' are pretty much the same generic aura/chi/qi attacks with not even a hint of real martial arts. Don't get me wrong, that can still be cool if it's explained properly, but this isn't, instead the author throws around words like invincible and extreme, pretty much every fight so far.

The ONLY saving grace so far has been the MC since he's intelligent, has a good heart and great aspirations. (By xianxia standards atleast) But everything just seems so anticlimatic - every skill he has he masters to 'peak level' in like 2 days and at most half a month to a month, he goes through new skills/martial abilities like a box of cookies, never staying true to anything. Where in other novels they find their OWN style and try to futher it by creating new skills/attacks or trying to comprehend some law in conjunction with said skill. This guy hasn't done even 1 thing that has been his own 'style' yet. Tl:dr - As generic and uninspired as it can be, with nothing new added to the mix in any way. Suffers from "bigger is better" syndrome and is poorly written almost as if this is the authors first try at writing a story. I would only recommend this to people who are waiting for updates for other xianxia and need some generic filler in the meantime.

I am going to drop this when I have more chapters for other novels to binge on. Going to give it 1 star since I can't give it 1.5 <<less

So far the worst Xianxia I have read to date.
-The plot is all messed up
-The MC just so happens to be labeled tr*sh even though he is not a cripple

Spoiler

-Even though the MC is part of one of the 8 great clans and just so happens to be the son of the patriarch of the clan he is as poor as a street urchin
-His mother who is an elder of a sect and father patriarch of a great clan don't give sh*t about him.
-And it mentions that people from that great clans can afford good cultivation resources but he who has an elder for a mother and great clan patriarch for a father can't afford it.
-If he was a cripple and nobody in his family cared about him it would have made more sense, but no just because he has a poor aptitude he is labeled tr*sh and even his parents don't care about him.
-People from great clans can 'walk sideways' but he was still bullied by other clan members so they gave no face to his parents but they never care about it which is s*upid for a Xianxia novel where Face means a lot.
-his mother doesn't give sh*t about him from what it I read so far but he doesn't want to let his mother down which makes no sense.
-His only cheat is his comprehension but other characters have good it too.
-the transported from an other world doesn't make sense because none of our world sense is put into place.

Even PMG made more sense than this novel. Even though PMG was outrageous in my opinion. <<less

The plot cannot be called original, it is as generic as can be. I do not mind this as long as the story itself can bring something fresh out.

Spoiler

This story did not, firstly, the MC is an idiot and the side-characters are even less intelligent just so the MC looks smart. Most events felt forced and conversation did not flow smoothly. Plot armor is way too obvious.

Oh, I need a stronger skill, runs from a beast into a cave find "body refining manual and fist art low earth realm" and just enough low-level soul stones for practicing it. Need stronger cultivation manual finds just the right level. Needs a boost for his cultivation finds a bottle of hundreds of pills of all 3 kinds Qi, Spirit, Soul.

spends 150 million for something worth at most 10 million saying he might never find it again (harvested once a year but can be found all year round later he goes there and harvest dozens of them)

For a genius researcher of the 21st century, he is too s*upid. He does not plan ahead nor think ahead. And I do not know if anyone else noticed but does the entire martial world and the cultivation feels a game system to others as well? Way too fixed for a real world. It kinda reminds me of those Korean novels where the world turns into a game world, lost interest way too fast because it reeks of wish fulfillment where the MC is born to be special and OP. There are those that are funny but the story itself is so bad I do not know if I should be laughing or crying.

Then there is the "good" part, yeah he's satisfied with getting the third place because getting first or second seems impossible.

Only the first competition after that he goes al "whats mine wil be mine! I am number one under heaven blah blah blah using plot armor and sudden powerups. Oh no, he is too powerful, I can not beat him. Makes a breakthrough and the author goes all take my PLOT *cough cough* Sword.

Then there is his training with consist of learning a single move one after another no sword style or arts he is using a move, and he has no defensive swordsmanship? No, he grows dragon bones made of energy from his skin.

Can he learn a move without actually cutting in half thousands of unique treasures with can never be made,

MC gets lucky and finds low-grade treasure with is so rare only 1 out of 10 peerless genius can get one, 100 chapter later MC finds mid-grade and in order to test it with new move cuts in half 1 thousand low- grade treasure a mid-grade treasure is so rare only 1 out of a thousand astral realm master can own one.

300 chapter later MC finds high-grade treasure and in order to test its might cuts in half 1 thousand mid-grade treasures owning a single high-grade treasure makes on invincible among astral realm practitioners. And soul of seas realm would kill for them

by the time MC leaves true spirit continent in order to advance his training (because he can no train without cutting in half treasures) one can expect true spirit continent practitioner to fight with sticks and stones.

Boring... Most of the time all you can read is "the MC went into a hole then cultivate", except that you'll see explanations. Fast paced but with less action. This novel didn't make me feel excited at all. The MC cultivates to get stronger but isn't using it very well. He's not using it to hunt to earn money, not using it to go on adventure. He just want to prove himself and beat "Geniuses". Well, the MC became stronger than his cousin who gained life experience on the outside... more>> world with just cultivating inside the sect so why bother go on adventure right?

Anyways, the conclusion is this novel is boring. Good job from trans tho. I hope they release 'more interesting novel' soon. BTW I'm not discouraging you all to not read this novel, this is based on my personal opinions and by no means related to your tastes. Give it a go and probably you'll find it interesting. This novel is just not for me. <<less

Initial impressions as of Ch4, rated 3 because it offers nothing new thus far.

The story proceeds at a very quick rate. The opening 5 paragraphs alone tells you that the MC was a university student involved in a scientific accident on Earth, transmigrating into the body of an average martial cultivator and absorbing his memories there and then.

Right off the bat, the story offers nothing new as yet. We have the usual MC that is considered tr*sh and treated with contempt by his own extended family members. Already we get... more>> the usual “I can learn martial arts and breakthrough easily” trope as well immediately proceeding to a tournament arc.

The translation is done well and is an example of the marked improvement in XianXiaWorld efforts, even if the original material itself is just average thus far.

I’m disappointed that yet again we have a MC who originated from modern Earth and yet does nothing with his previous experience. In this case, he was a university student, an aspiring scientist that actually wanted to build a particle accelerator. Yet, once he has arrived and absorbed the memories of the previous guy (no idea what happened to him), the MC basically blended into his new world seamlessly and his earthly background isn’t brought up again; which makes me wonder what’s the point of transmigration in the first place. <<less

It's a decent novel and isn't heavily driven by romance, and the Protagonist isn't someone who has girls chasing him every corner nor him giving monologues out of ever woman he faces.

The fights do include leapfrogging but that is to be expected of a Sword Immortal in the first place. It's easy to get hooked on the first three hundred chapters, but it does slow down a bit after the MC upgrades faster and faster. He doesn't end up in a cheat-like upgrade like that of Martial god space by... more>> pigging out on resources. There is no hypocritical arrogance nor mindless political killing like that in PMG so it's a very enjoyable read with really no SMH moments.

It's too bad the MC doesn't do alchemy, I really love good xian/xuan that has the MC with that sub profession. <<less

This is not as bad as some of the reviews are making it out to be. Is it comparable to ISSTH, no! But it is a solid read, with good progression, it doesn't have a ridiculous MC who has plot armor to the heavens instead we have a cool, calm and mature MC who knows not to go pissing everyone off and instead doing what needs done. Lack of excess is what makes DSI a good read and if you have been around NU long enough and are familiar with... more>> the genres, you will definitely appreciate this. <<less

This series does not have any kind of proper world building, in the first chapter you have the MC go from, oh neat my soul ended up in this body tom look at me with my amazing perception I will become the best in the world. There are no explanations of what the various martial realms are, and there is already a bloody time skip by the third chapter, as if the author did not even want to bother with the character.

A disappointing novel. This is just like a beginner writer writing his first novel, so many things are wrong with this novel. You could definitely see the holes in the author's logic if you pay the slightest attention to the story. And for anyone wondering how many heroines this novel has, it's 2.

Pros:

- The idea

... more>> - It didn't feel rushed, except the last 200 chaps

Cons:

- The implementation of the idea is messy. Often times, it doesn't make sense.

- No romance, it's plain with no progression, just out of the blue. The author picks 2 heroines just because they have great talents. The author doesn't want his heroines to be weak.

- The author abuses his power. He'd do and change anything to implement his idea easily without considering logic and consequences.

a. First, he introduced that 10 people have cultivation above MC's realm. However, when MC's breakthrough to the said realm, that number multiplies 10 times or even more. Powerhouses either they are enemies or allies just keep appearing out of nowhere. What was supposed to be rare (only talented people can reach) becomes like cabbages

b. Friends, lovers, and side chars have a legendary trait, that is "Cultivation Speed x100" activated whenever MC is way above them. Simply said, the author doesn't want MC to have a weak friend, especially lovers. Even the worst-talented of MC's friends can beat the crap out of talented people. This is so much nonsense.

c. MC's home planet was raided. Why? No reason, just because they feel like so! Everyone raiding the planet was powerful and could just wander in the universe and become wealthy, but they decided to raid MC's planet with millions of troops and all even though the total wealth of MC's planet could only be considered as dirt.

d. The cliche where MC's girl got taken elsewhere to train. Yes, I know you guys know it. That thing is annoying, right? Well, it happened 3 times so you know.

e. People love to set their eyes on MC's women but not on other women.

f. People said that getting to the Emperor level is very hard. When MC become Emperor, what was supposed to be hard suddenly has 10 more members. Who? MC's friends ofc. As I said before, any one of MC's friends could easily surpass a very talented people. Is it because MC helps them? No, the author just said "because of their talent". Yeah, lmao, the author could change anyone's talent in the middle of the story whenever he wants to.

g. Everyone easily gets a teacher. No one even offered to take MC under their wings even though they know MC has the best talent and potential.

h. Whenever MC breakthrough, there are always enemies. However, not even one ally/friend ever know MC breakthrough and come to assist him.

All in all, this could actually be a great novel if only it's written by another author. It's just I don't like this author's work and way of handling things. He defies logic and changes anything written prior just to make it easy to implement his ideas for the next arc. Some people can tolerate this kind of thing, but I'm not. <<less

Average Xianxia nothing special. The entire last 400 chapter however the author just stops caring.

spoilers:

Everyone starts getting absurd cultivation boost to catch up to the main character. A character who was said to have less potential then the main character and who focuses on multiple fields like formation divination and etc as soon as she puts a focus on martial arts catches up to him after 80 years. Main character no longer will kill enemies, someone who wanted to r*pe his wife and if I remember correctly he just lets... more>> the person off. Countless pieces of the plot ignored as the author just decides to end the novel without addressing them. This is just a small amount of the numerous bs after the author stopped caring an decided to rush to end his novel. I will definitely think twice about ever reading a novel from this author again, only reason I skimmed through the last 200 or so chapters is because I already wasted so much time reading the others. <<less

This is a good novel but the harem ruined it for me, they get a free ride, all of sudden gains a strong backer, strong mysterious back ground, rare blood line, just for the sake of making them keep up with the mc's speed of growth, they even get the potential to surpass him. There weren't even a hint of any of this at first, they were just your average genius cultivator from mc's small region, And I can understand and take it if it was only one girl, but... more>> it was not. It annoyed the hell out of me, but if u can ignore that, you will enjoy this <<less
