Biblia Koshodou no Jiken Techou is a mystery series in which Shinokawa Shioriko, a young owner of a bookstore in Kamakura, unravels the mysteries of the ancient books that are taken there.

The story begins with a young man named Daisuke, who practically grew up without reading books due to his phobia, who brings the complete (and autographed) collection of works by Natsume Soseki, (Japanese writer of the Meiji era) that he inherited from his grandmother, to the mysterious bookstore. Will the shy and introverted Shioriko solve the mystery of the books?

Are you hesitating to read this novel? Then don't. I'm trying to be baised free as possible, but I'm not gonna lie. This LN is my favorite of all time. If you love mystery novels that are not centered around mu*der and crime, this it for you. If you love Hyouka, this is it for you. And if you love these small mysteries that life comes with, this is it for you. Sometimes, the author explains things with a huge wall of text... more>> and unending paragraphs. But what's surprising is that you don't mind it at ALL. In fact, the more text it has, the happier I get. The interactions between the characters are heart warming and it's not like the other LNs where the main character is a pushover or falls on the main heroine's b**bs. This guy has years of experience in martial arts and is a huge man (not that it's a 'big' part of the story). The pacing is also rather realistic, the main character doesn't spit out cool clich

lines the first day they meet for then the girl to fall in love with him in a short span of time. The story takes it time, and the author makes sure you enjoy the journey with his rather skillful writing. I really want this light novel to be noticed, so don't skip on this one, especially if you like slice of life type of LNs

If you're wondering, the story mainly deals with episodic mysteries, but there is a small hint (don't know if I can call it small) of a big mystery lurking behind the scenes where the past plays a huge role. <<less

A well written story and the translation is very readable. Love how the story is progressing. Despite the slow romance, the stories are heart-tugging and sincere. Character development is done well with little insights coming in as the stories progresses.

Do wish for the translations to be faster but they are long chapters. Discovered this book yesterday and read up to the present translations!! Thank you translators, editors and proofreaders. Keep up the hard work!!

This light novel is certainly not a pure fluffy fluffy type of novel. At first, I didn't want to read this since I thought that this would be boring. But one day, since I've run out of novel to read, I tried it. I got immense in the story especially on how they integrate the plot and characters to the classic literature. You would learn some classic literature and some of them may be heavy and not for kids or alpha teens or something that would take an interest in... more>> them. We all have a preference in the novel we want to read and I respect them cus I also have one. Nonetheless, Expect some drama and mystery detective genre including romance. Though the romance here is a slow paced one. However, for me, that is one of the selling points of this novel. On how a true relationship would not just develop immediately for I certainly know that it takes time to know and build trust to each other.

Thanks for those who read, and I hope that you'd find this review helpful.

Some of you may agree or disagree, nevertheless, I respect them. <<less

I've read this novel in my mother-tongue and it's brilliant. While romance does exist, it is not the main theme of the novel (which is great!). Similar to Mizuki Nomura's "Book Girl" series, this series mainly focuses on the interactions between the books and the various people who come in contact with them. As the others in the review section have said, if you're hesitating, don't. This series will definitely not disappoint you.

As a person who likes books and who has worked with rare books, some views expressed and events elapsed in the series sound quite familiar! Especially Shioriko's and the author's own love affair with "antique" books: they say something to the effect of "every book becomes coated in a film of another person's hands." Marginalia provide clues in quite a few of the cases; edition number and reprint status in others. There is poetry in the thought that a book can be a living connection across time and space; that... more>> by reading, or even touching, the same book we've bridged the unbridgeable gap of history, emotion, and perhaps also understanding. In many ways, I believe understanding is what Daisuke and Shioriko are seeking. Of course, I don't know if the end result will be what they imagined or wanted---still waiting on updates haha. Anyway, Biblia is a great time that you should definitely make room for! Mysteries are solved through deductive reasoning a la Sherlock Holmes, though with considerably less death involved. <<less
