Absolutely awful drama.

The male lead is awful and the ex is awful, the white lotus is way too OP and after so many chapters she retains an upper hand. The lotus just has too much plot armor she won't die already- and her reputation stays intact for the longest I've seen a white lotus in these novels can stay.

Side note: It's okay if a character rarely ever fails to get away scot-free from every tricky situation, but if you're going to do that then embrace it all of the way and give them some BS power like SUPER LUCK to explain it away because this is getting ridiculous.

Also, the female lead is so bad at communication and gets no talking points, constantly leaving misunderstandings in limbo. Does she do this... more>> on purpose??
Spoiler

First of all, the Male Lead is the brother of the white lotus and chose the white lotus over the MC due to him thinking the white lotus is more "pitiful. I feel so betrayed that I ever rooted for this guy. And what irks me is that there is no darned second ML to make me less angry and give me room to jump onto another ship! Secondly, the MC's ex did love MC but slept with the lotus due to her getting him drunk- then he watches as his blood son is schemed against by the white lotus and watches him nearly die- and yeah she has a child with him. Then a bunch of the female lead's teammates die due to white lotus. The lead herself was tortured by people the white lotus sent after her.

[collapse]

I added a "drama" genre to this due to the abundant misunderstandings and reader torture- I didn't come to this novel for drama, I came for some good romance and an awesome female lead with her sh*t together (because that's how it was portrayed in the earlier chapters -_-).

Still, I did not give it a 1 because so far the translation quality is wonderful and despite the main characters and antagonist being so annoying, the side characters are pretty solid. I meant to give this a 2.5 but I honestly dunno how to do that so it's stuck on 2 as I despise the plot too much to give this novel a 3. TLDR; You are not one for repeated drama or tragedy- huge warning to you won't like this.

side note 2:
If you are going to read a zombie apocalypse novel with a female lead do yourself a favor and read better novels like "Dominion's End", "Doomsday Wonderland", "Let the Villain Go", "Salted Fish Transmigrated Into An Apocalyptic Book" (MTL friendly), "Today, I Have Yet to Become a Doll" (almost MTL friendly), OR "Deserted Island Survival Notes" (not apocalyptic but survival based). I have a list of survival-based novels with leads on my profile too if you're bored.

Apologies for the long comment but now you've got a few recommends to sit through <<less

I read this expecting a good read about a strong woman surviving in an apocalypse. Oh, she's strong physically but for someone who has gone through rebirth, she lets her emotions affect her judgement too easily. In the first few chapters, she lets a boy follow her. She picks up the male lead. Let other people take advantage of her and get this, she lets her enemy go because she felt like it would fun seeing them again in the apocalypse. What a s*upid decision. In her last life, she... more>> was killed because she let her guard down. I was expecting her to at least get away from other people, don't form any emptional attachments but she doesn't. It's infuriating because this novel had such good potential. I really should've read the comments first. Wasted a lot of time reading 100+ chps. It's not worth it. Too much emotional drama. Sometime, I even feel like the zombies are just there to highlight the female lead's strength in combat. I really don't like the fact that although she looks cold to other people, she is still so softhearted. This weakness will make her suffer a lot in the future. She also lets the male lead affect her life way too easily. To the point that it seemed she forgot for a moment that her family's life was in danger.

To be honest, I only pointed out the female lead's flaw because I'm reading this for her. I expected a lot but ended up being disappointed. The male is your typical chinese male lead. He doesn't really stand out to me at all. I feel like this story would be much better if he doesn't exist. He really isn't that capable. I feel like he'll just add to the female lead's worry in the future.

Anyway, I'm dropping this. Really not to my liking. Go read this if you want your typical chinese drama mixed with a lil touch of apocalypse. It's more the former than the latter, actually. <<less

Ty!

The women involve for MC's Rebirth deserve some pondering.... makes me so excited. Muse MC isn't selfish just short on time! How far could the MC family be. Most important of all it's a female protagonist action with a strong protagonist at the start!

I hope the translator would continue this one. Its extremely rare to find an apocalypse novel with an extremely cool female lead and it even have romance! How cool is that!

I like how the female lead is so level-headed and rational but also one of the few who managed to retain a bit of her humanity during the life she lead in the apocalypse. She cares for her family but is ruthless to people who threaten her peace.. This one is soo good if only it will be continued. ≪3

This story is good with a powerful and independent MC who is consistent with her character as well as her goal i.e the safety of her loved ones. But this novel fails at what other reviewers said; drama and ml. Too much drama for an apocalyptic novel. MC is simply disappointing. He was extremely angry at other family when they left MC to the very monsters she is fighting to protect them and then stole her stuff and threatened to kill her family. But his own sister forcefully keeping MC... more>> brother in law from reaching his wife and tried to kill her and her entire family by bombing them. ML did nothing but apologize to her in his heart and protect his sister. He is the most influential person of the country to boot but he cant protect the person he loves straight forwardly. This is why I dropped this novel. I put 3 stars mainly for MC. <<less

Too much drama. Too depressing ! After some chapters, I couldn't sleep because of anger. More politics than in an harem's revenge story and worst of it, it's too telenova: everyone is related by blood or history, revenge, etc...

Spoiler

You can go back to 2 generations for the MC (in both side of her family) ! It's the world of giants and the zombies are used as extras.

[collapse]

I still was gererous and gave 2 stars because it's hard not to follow it (well writed, well translated) and it's kind of addictive until you just cant stand it anymore and come later, months later, to read the end. And if this is your kind of thing, go ahead, it's full of dog blood shit.

I cant give more stars because it would be intentional harm.

Personnaly, I found it too exhausting and the epilogue (1 chapter) is too casual.

Spoiler

With so much drama, the author still kept the MC alive with an HE. ML and MC have 2 powerful and naive kids. How absurd...

[collapse]

Well, if another of this author's novel is translated, run. <<less

Well, I'm at part where the FL go to the weapon store. I just had to comment on how exasperated and annoyed I felt of how scared ling shan (the sister) everytime and kept screaming when she seen zombies with FL on the phone, although I dont know how her child in her arms can kept sleeping and zombies outside can ignore her with the way the author stress on how she kept screaming, then the FL sooth her, then she will think how awesome her sister is. Somehow, this... more>> repeating situasion pull off my mood to keep on reading. <<less

All you need to know about the premise is: MC died a year into the zombie apocalypse, and all of a sudden was reborn into a younger self, from a year before, hours before the apocalypse hit. Sound familiar? Here's the hook: MC is a woman.

From then on, the story develops into a weird-but-not-bad hybrid of apocalyptic action and soap opera. I don't know whether the author is a man or woman, but this novel tries to combine the plotlines most often seen in shoujo novels with action/horror genre. Does... more>> it work? Not always. But it works more often that it doesn't, and so I'm giving this one four stars, for actually trying something different with the genre, and not skimping on both elements that make up the hybrid.

If and when you take up reading this novel, and if you're expecting a typical zombie-era novel, I have to warn that you may find the soap-opera plot twists distracting. At that point, you may think of dropping the novel.

Don't.

It gets better.

Without spoiling the story, all of the melodrama actually leads to the conclusion of the first arc, which is a tragedy. Without the melodrama, the tragedy doesn't make sense. This happens at around segment 1, 000 -- which may sound bad, if it weren't for the fact that the segments are really short. They're only about a quarter of what most CN webnovel segments are.

After the end of the first arc, the second arc begins, in which I am really, really hoping would be the John Wick-esque arc. When I get to it, I'll let you know if it works.

In the mean time, this is one of the first novel with a female MC that's written counterintuitively to all other female MC's. This one isn't vapid, weepy, fickle or tsundere. She's got actual responsibilities on her shoulders, and is focused on them. In fact, a lot of the drama happens around the supporting characters, which are more typically-written. The 'good' women are absolutely pure and adorable, and the 'bad' ones are absolutely vile. Shoujo novel-style.

To be honest, I don't really understand why Qidian Int'l translates some of the god-awful stories they have on their English site, but neglects this one. Some, if not most, are vastly inferior to this novel. Another thing that may be a plus, is that it's a fairly short story (based on word count).

I encourage you to try it. <<less

I love this novel. It's sensible, actionpackedfull, and our MC? She's not cold-hearted or let's save everybody. She's literally just trying to find her family. 5 stars to offset any bad review. Loving it.

This novel has one major flaw : TOO MUCH DRAMA

Both MC and major male interest has whole harems of unwanted powerful and/or good at manipulating people insane mu*derous girlfriends/boyfriends wannabes AND girlfriends/boyfriends wannabes also have their own girlfriends/boyfriends wannabes that want to get rid of their love rivals (generally MC).

So novel is really good lots of action, MC is very rational and doesn't make s*upid mistakes so that's why I gave it 4 stars, but I don't think I'm going to finish this novel - all the good points by... more>> now had drown in the drama ocean. <<less

One of the best apocalypse novel being translated right now. Can't wait for more! Things I love about this novel:

 1. an adult female MC and loving family that will do anything for each other even after the apocalypse. I mean the 1st thing they thought about (& acted on) right after the apocalypse started is each other xD
 2. MC is strong; cool headed; adaptable; has an adult mentality; has her priorities straight (family is priority) ; is realistic (know her own limits and that she can't save the world but will give everything even herself for her family (but also know she can't always protect them so everyone needs to grow strong together)) ; keeps part of her humanity even after all she went through (she can be humane if her environment (including future environment) won't harm her family)
 3. a sweet little sister (seems like the kind & sweet princess type but determined to be stronger for her family) ; has good potential for growth if MC leads her

Just found it on hiatus and s*upidly read it (I brazenly treat it as an appetizer. If it's good, MTL is not too bad) but I was suddenly put off by some factor.

1. The chapter is thousands. Hundreds of times more than the usual josei apocalypse novel. It smell bad news and I was right

2. Too much drama. So tired with the crying and screaming for every second. Once or twice is ok lah, it's logical in face of an unprecedented Apocalypse but.. Crying and screaming every time they... more>> met zombies? Absurd

3. I don't know what course running through MC's head. But since he came back from death and resolutely tried to save her family. Instead of telling them the bloody truth and preparing them mentally and physically what to do to survive the predicament, she instead chooses to call/video call her family. Hahahahahaha it's not logical. It's s*upid

4. MC said that she needs to save her family asap but she keeps her time on her journey. It should be logical to waste a lot of time on the journey by land across the country BUT the unbearable thing is still the drama. Too tired of that.

And sooooo many more of disappointment. Now I know why the rating is low and perhaps why no translator continues this story. Although I'm craving for female lead OP in the Apocalypse genre. I'm still dropping this. For others who stumbled upon this by chance and have the same liking as me.. Don't. Avoid it will all might <<less

Meh as in meh.

I read this reading a zombie story and ran into a s*upid FL who does not follow what she learned in the first life and does s*upid stuff constantly making very melodramatic situations.

Generally, a rebirth character fixes what caused them to die so... rebirth or at the very least prevent what they couldn’t.... our FL..... hahah, only talk but noooo action.

Spoiler

she wants to prevent the death of her grandma, uncle, sister and nephew but.... she takes her time getting to them.... there is not one bit of urgency. Instead of doing s*upid video calls with her sister, she should be telling them what to expect and generally be a bit more forthcoming with zombie world news but no..... the situations of go family could have been much much better if she actually rushed as the situation dictated but noooooo that’s too easy. 😩....

A harem zombie book did a much better job of this with the ML rushing at the fastest speed to his sister.

Also, lots and lots of talking about evidence and face slapping when all FL should be doing is killing the enemy... Too much, wayyyyy too much of this. So enemies are left alive to hurt FL even more later in the story, FL does not follow what she decided after rebirth... Gag

[collapse]

I checked the 2 star reviews and they are on point. If you want s*upid actions from the FL so there can be melodramatic face slapping later on after suffering from the s*upid actions than this is the right novel to read. <<less

Seems promising! Chapters are shorter so I didn't feel like I read too much. But it was good.

MC is obviously someone who lived years in the apocalypse, but not so heartless that you hate her. She is logical and minds her own business.

I hope this gets picked up again some day. Not enough apocalypse with female leads translated to English. Until then, guess I'll try to find MTL somewhere.

[Update ch187 MTL]

Still okay, but it does start to feel like all females she comes across, even young teens, have the exact same personality and low intelligence. Immediate hatred of FL bc of jealousy and immediately try to kill her, even after she saved their lives and is obviously stronger than them and could kill them now. Not even smart enough to cover it up.

And half the male characters immediately turn on her as soon as someone green tea b*tches or cries.

I can see why this has bad reviews since this level of writing is kinda... But maybe some nuance is missed in MTL and other aspects of the story could make it worthwhile. /shru <<less

Bad drama. c*ckroach villains. s*upid decisions. Villains are 100% irredeemable and s*upid and everyone around them falls for their s*upid antics. Especially any female around the same age as MC has a 99% chance of being horribly jealous and vicious.

I nearly checked out when she left enemies who wanted to hurt her fine with the reasoning ' it's fate to meet on this road' that's some bull logic right there.

After that a things just got more s*upid. I just can't even...
