Tales of the Reincarnated Lord

Currently loving this series. For those looking to read it, know that it takes a while to get started. The introduction arc that introduces the characters, the world and the MC's first 20 or so years of story takes around 40 chapters, and the chapters are pretty long. Only after that will you get to the main story. Luckily enough despite the first arc being an introduction chapter, it is definitely entertaining. The main characters are all good and memorable (side-characters, maybe not so much), the world and its lore... more>> is interesting and in general the future of the series has a lot of promise. Translation is frequent enough, with around 3-4 chapters a week and the quality and length is excellent. <<less

Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken (WN)

The story was pretty good for a while, but the quality steadily drops until it hits rock bottom at the tournament arc around chapter 97. There's a lot of criticisms that can be directed towards this WN, most of which has already been addressed by other reviewers. The cookie cutter personalities of the side characters, the author that seems to be confused about making the novel mature or kids friendly, terrible pacing with lots of pointless filler etc etc. However, my main problem isn't really any of those, though... more>> they are big problems. My main problem is that at this point, is there even a point in the character being a slime? I mean, isn't that the point of this story, that the MC is a slime? But at this point he's basically just a genderless human with blue hair and shapeshifting abilities. <<less

Spoiler

Never understood "fluff" in light novels. Just doesn't make sense to me. Setting that aside though, it's still pretty terrible. Story doesn't even try to pretend that the MC isn't a Gary Stu. Everybody instantly loves him, and he gets everything he wants. All the characters can't even be called cardboard cutouts, and the girls even more so. There's no difference between any of the girls, and they're essentially treated a objects to fawn over the MC. The writing is so simple that I swear, even a child would find it boring.

I will admit though, I laughed when he instantly defeated the all powerful evil demon lord. That was funny, shame the rest couldn't be more like that.

I’m Really a Superstar

It was enjoyable it for the first 200 chapters or so, but I've reached a point where I'm just done. The main character is completely unlikeable. He's someone who never actually works himself and has no talent so speak of. He has no likeable traits. He's arrogant, meanspirited, childish, extremely rapey and a complete and utter moron who'll burn all bridges he has simply because someone was a bit mean to him and he decided to throw a tantrum.

In the beginning the humour and writing can be considered pretty... more>> funny, as it is something original. But at this point, it only makes me groan whenever it makes an attempt at humour.

I would have given it one star had not been decent for a while. <<less

Common Sense of a Duke’s Daughter

MC experiences no adversity whatsoever. You would think that maybe as the "villain" character in the game she may have many enemies and few friends, but no. She's loved by everyone and has plenty of attractive, talented loyal allies right from the get-go. In addition to that, the land she is given to manage is described as the second-most prosperous in the kingdom. The only thing that isn't going perfect for our beautiful, intelligent, ultra-rich noble-lady MC is the income inequality of the lower-class, but we're never given a real... more>> example that makes us give two shits about it anyway, so I see no reason why I should be invested in this story at all?

I guess the translation is good though, not like it matters. Entire thing is a wasted potential. <<less

I am the Monarch

He was a soldier in a medieval universe. How the hell does he know so much?

It would be believable if he was maybe some high-noble or something, but he's not, he's someone who only learnt how to read by the end of his life. It's completely breaks the immersion when a commoner soldier seem to know highly complex politics of the nobility, as well as large-scale battletactics, how to govern territory, every geographical location in the world as well as all the people in it. Hell, scratch what I... more>> said previously, even a fucking 80 year old king wouldn't know as much as this dude does. <<less

Incredibly well written and interesting. The main problem I have is that it's incredibly slow-paced, and uses a lot of ancient and modern chinese vocabulary and meanings that you constantly have to look up. Also, the fact that the MC's are both one-year olds that can walk and talk is something that you need to suspend your disbelief for, but I don't particularly mind that part all that much.

God of Cooking

How am I even enjoying this? I know nothing about cooking. I am barely able to cook pasta. Half of the time I have no clue what they are talking about in this novel, and I have to look up definitions constantly, yet still I find it extremely entertaining. I only picked this up because I was bored, but I was pleasantly surprised. The only reason I am deducting one star is because as I said, I don't know what the hell is going on most of the time.
