Don’t Tell Me This Is the True History of the Three Kingdoms!

Description

I suddenly got hold of a feather fan, and came to an era of the Three Kingdoms which I completely do not know about. What? Gender equality? Girls can join the army? You, you and you, why are you all girls!? An interesting story unfolds in a familiar and yet, also unfamiliar time. But perhaps this is the Three Kingdoms, the true Three Kingdoms!

It's a pretty funny novel, remind me the novel "Oda Nobuna" but in Chinese version and it's mainly about comedy. As a bonus the translator let sometime a note explaining the difference between the novel and the original story to let readers fully enjoy the novel, it's a big plus.

——————

Edit : Unfortunately the story turns boring later, reading a few volumes is still fine but definitely hard to read until the end.

The story is rather interesting, and quite comedic at times. The translator does a great job, and usually leaves a small note to explain the names/actions that the story derives from. Overall it's a very worthwhile read.

The only thing that I don't like about the story, is the authors use of names. Apparently back in the day, people had a regular name, and a formal name. He's using the regular names of the historical figures, which is making it rather hard to keep track of who is who beyond... more>> what ther personification is. Maybe it's just because I'm bad with Chinese names, but other than Lu Bu being Feng Xian, none of the others really connect for me.

Edit as of v5c30

I'm kinda starting to lose interest in the novel. It's starting to just become to ridiculous. The author is trying to make everyone 'good' and only fighting because of responsibility and coincidence, but all it really does is make the story a joke. On five separate occasions the characters have been 'forced' to fight each other when they could of solved everything by just sitting down and talking. Something you'd expect them to do when they're all 'friends'. Fighting because of miscommunication is barely acceptable in games and novels when it's solo combat. In this we have the characters doing the same thing and causing hundreds of thousands of casualties. It's ridiculous. It might of been fine if the author did it once or twice throughout the entire story, but it's happened in 5 consecutive encounters/battles. <<less

This is Romance of the 3 kingdom with Comedy twist on it. I'm only recommended it for someone with prior knowledge of Romance of the 3 kingdom and can withstand the comedy twist of the actual novel.

This is just for comedy purpose, don't take it seriously.... not.

Impressions as of Ch7.

Our MC found himself transported to the Three Kingdoms era and took over the role of Liu Bei. To compound the weirdness, the major characters that he would encounter are all women. Our MC, despite questioning everything, finds himself being dragged along events described in the novel, only that things are happening in different ways than he had expected...

Somewhat similar to the h-game Koihime Musou, it is actually quite close to the original in terms of plot. Things that happen in the original reoccur here. Written in... more>> a simple way, it is quite funny to see how everything falls in place. The references to the original are nicely done, given a gender-bent twist. At first I thought it was a sacrilege to the original just like how Koihime Musou was, but the comedic tones won me over and I accept it as it is: A light-hearted, comedic twist on the Chinese classical epic.

Throw out your serious face and don't think too deeply, this is just for fun. <<less

It took me 5 days straight spending almost 15 hrs a day to finally caught up to updates, I gotta say I enjoyed reading this.

A story of a teenage boy transported to the past where he find himself as Liu Bei one of the hero who will eventually make his own domain in china.

WARNING: SUMMARY/SPOILER BELOW!

Volume 1-3

Spoiler

is the prologue to Liu Bei's building up his fame where he, YunChang, Yide and their band of misfits roams around northern china without specific goal in mind and almost all their battle were too funny to be considered a battle (seriously took me sometime to laugh it out loud)

He even got Feng Xian (Lu Bu) who should be his mortal enemy as part of his Harem

[collapse]

i really love the comedy in this volume.

Volume 4

Spoiler

This probably is where Liu Bei's tribulation started where he was framed at killing one of Meng De's general (Died because the assailant thought that general is Liu Bei because she looks more like a general than Liu Bei himself) and incited the public that he must be revolting against Meng De that forced her to make a subjugation force to capture Liu Bei alive (probably finally making him her sla- I mean work for her) but eventually Liu Bei got away but also heavily wounded, Yi De finding her escaped by herself leaving Yun Chang and Feng Xian to be captured after that they would find themselves fighting each other in a middle of war between Ben Chu (Yuan Shao) and Meng De (CaoCao)

The night where they should be escaping Liu Bei together with Yun Chang and Yi De drunk till dawn and eventually spend the night together in bed (I think this is the part where everyone became a star-teller guessing what might have happened that night.)

This is the volume where he gained another bunch of girls to his harem but sadly also announced that his cute childhood friend meet her end : (

[collapse]

Volume 5

Spoiler

This is where Yun Chang and Company started their journey as they slaughter their way towards Runan City where they promised to rendezvous with Liu Bei.

This is also where the war between Ben Chu and Meng De concluded with a draw and Liu Bei started his journey towards Runan to meet with Yun Chang and Co.

I got to say the battle here is epic and interesting!

[collapse]

Volume 6

Spoiler

Liu Bei had finally reunite with Yun Chang and Co. But also find out that Yi De had an Amnesia probably due to the hard battle when they escaped Xue City.

Liu Bei also had a reunion with Bo Fu (Sun Ce) where she invited Liu Bei and his band of misfit to the Sun Territory and then met with Sun Qian which is Bo Fu's little sister and successor to the Sun Territory

Meng De also with Yuan Shu had their troops marched toward north to unify the northern territories but Yuan Shu paid a price that got her two legs cut off because of poison and lose 3/4 of their troops

[collapse]

Volume 7

Spoiler

Liu Bei and Co. Settled for a few dozen days in the Sun Territory to rest before they proceed to Liu Biao's territory

Liu Bei encountered Yu Ji where she cursed Bo Fu and threatened to kill her and also gave Liu Bei a hint where she knew that he's from the future, but because of that Liu Bei threatened her that he will kill himself if he she wont remove Bo Fu's curse and eventually released the cursed because its not yet the time for Liu Bei to die then warned Liu Bei on not changing the future anymore than necessary then disappear

After that encounter Liu Bei finally embarked his journey to the Liu Territory and seek refuge to Liu Biao where he was received as a Blood Brother but find Liu Biao as a weirdo and has a Royalty Complex

He was eventually caught up in Cai Mao's scheme where he was requested to Accompany his niece Liu Qi to Jiangxia to defend from the Sun Army who wants to have a revenge to Huang Zu

[collapse]

Volume 8&9

Spoiler

probably to longest volume in this series, ill end my summary here as this 2 volumes are connected to each other and I have caught up with Vol 9's updates.

This was also the most complicated part of Liu Bei's life as he struggle with his life and this will be the point where fate of history will be moving according to Liu Bei's wish.

[collapse]

I really love this series where history is being made and also change at the same time.

I don't know how the Author will end this but I say the history is already been changed since the very beginning so I'm interested on how the Author will eventually proceed by this point on and I hope that we will have a fun journey till the end :) <<less

"It's the comedy version of ROT3K!!" *throw 5 stars rating*

No... Just no. Just because it's made to be funny doesn't mean it's good enough to deserve 5 stars. NOPE.

I did smirk or laugh once in a while, but at other times it was "meh". Brain dead characters, randomness and deus ex machina? Sure, funny sometimes, but there was too much of that. And the serious moments (after the first battle) felt out of place in the story

I'd give it between 3 and 4 stars, but definitely not 5.

As the people before me said, this is comedy version for the romance of the three kingdom, I got a feeling it was like harem :3 but then again it was the point of the comedy lol

Any way it was a good read even though there is a need of editor or proofreader to make it better (to TL's: if you read this please consider to gain help from other as editor or proofreader)

Wow, this is really nice, unlike any Fantasy novels out there where the plot and progress seems unnatural because Author's imagination that not constant, this novel using already exist history as the mainframe of the story, and add a little comedy and fantasy here and there without going out much from the true history.

The Translations are really good and Translator sometimes insert information about what/who actually happen/appear in history, so readers can understand the actual background more.

I'm strongly recommend this one (specially anyone who love History, Romance of the Three... more>> Kingdom, or Dynasty Warrior), as this novel have side effect that you will learn (some) actual history of the Three Kingdom (supplied by the Translator). <<less

First time giving a critique on this page. This novel I loved, not stop laughing with this, and that is only 4 chapters, not how it will be later, but if it continues like this will surely be my favorite insurance.

Unexpectedly Good, the first volumes are mostly comedic, but then it start to slowly becoming more serious, characters actually die and stuff, sadly the translator dropped it, and the newest one is not interesting on continuing the main story and is focusing on the side stories.
