This is the story of the eldest daughter of a certain duke’s family, who was engaged to the crown prince of the country.

The daughter, a strong willed girl who liked to get her way and did whatever she wanted, started hearing a strange voice one day. The voice, audible only for the girl, said this.

“Two years into the future, the crown prince’s wrath will fall upon you, who will become the object of his loathing.”

The girl did not heed the words of this mysterious voice. She ignored the warning thrust upon her. And the prophetic words were forgotten.

As a result, she splendidly earned the hate of the crown prince, who proceeded to declare the break-off of their engagement.

Thus the girl, guided by the voice only she could hear, set off on the road to change herself.

…Maybe.

I thought it would be different. But it isn't. Its just another story "highly praising Japanese culture". Basically it is propaganda about how great and epic Japanese manners and ethics are. No really, that's all it is. It just makes me slap my face, because it has little to no plot other than praising how great Japanese culture is.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I like MOST of Japanese culture. I think most of it is great. But if there is a story that shoves down your throat about how... more>> much Japanese manners and culture is better than your country's manners and culture, its this one. And it doesn't even do it in a round about way. Heres way:

So a Japanese girl possessed a otome game villainess' body. Well haunts her, like a voice in her head, no wait, it literally is a voice in her head.

Anyways, she basically tells the MC what to do. She basically is training her to act more Japanese. I mean sure, this is fantasy, but they are in medieval Europe. Modern Japanese behavior would make you seem possessed over there. Well... whatever.

I just summed up the whole series. Its about a ghostly Japanese girl haunting a noble from medieval europe and telling her how much Japanese mannerisms and ideals will save her life.

Thats it.

If you like that sort of thing, then this might be fore you. I mean, the idea is original. I haven't seen a haunting before. But the execution and its obvious message slams you in the face. It also has no plot. It has a driving force that gets the series going, but that isn't a "real plot" is it now. Ergo, slice of life.

So... 3 stars, since It might be good for others, but not for me, because of that one thing that really, really, irks me. <<less

I really enjoy this to be honest. It's been awhile since I found myself liking a story this much.

Lilia (MC) And Ghost-Kun (Can't be bothered to remember the name so I'm going with this for the chick that talks to the MC) I really like. I like how Lilia doesn't just have a complete 180 in a personality change. The fairly nice paced transition is still going on. I love Lilia (MC) I like seeing her be nice for the first time to Maids and School classmates.

Tina... more>> is an adorable girl. Normally I see in stories with a Villainous and some girl stealing the love interest, That the girl that usually doesn't do anything wrong besides some dude catching her in their eyes, They're usually treated like shit. In this she seems like a really nice girl that is too naive for her own good. I do like seeing Lilia start being nice to her and slowly start to grow more protective of Tina.

There is also the Maid. I kind of like her story. As a kid she and her parents went on a trip. She got lost and ended up walking onto Lilia's Noble house yard. She got caught and was just about to be executed when Lilia (Only a year older then the maid) Got mad at the guards saying it will make the house lose face. The girl ended up idolizing Lilia and wanted to serve her. So she ended up becoming a maid and the Father of Lilia assigned her as Lilia's personal maid. Turns out that Lilia wasn't what the girl thought she was. But she still felt gratitude and continued to serve her. So it's really nice seeing her start being treated really well and become friends. I like the start when Lilia starts taking Ghost-Kun's advice. She see's the Maids personal flowerbed and ended up saying that the Flower bed Is now hers. Everyone thought it was just her being selfish. Then she comes back and we find out Lilia did this so that the Maid can actually spend time on the Garden that she never got to do with her always being busy.

I've always wanted to see more stories like this. Instead of someone just taking full control of the body. Have it so someone possesses a girl but can only talk to the girl she possessed. Normally it's always that they possess someone that just died or is in a coma. So I really like seeing this and I feel the story did it really well.

Only issue i'v come across, Is the romance. I don't know if there will be a romance. There is a tag that saids it but I'v seen some stories only have that for the romance at the start. That would be the Prince and Lilia. I honestly think that any romance with this would do nothing more then hurt the story. There is some dude named Ray. I'd be happy if he just becomes a friend. But I can already tell I won't like it if he is the romance partner. Normally I really only like Yuri romances as that I don't like watching a romance from a females view as she falls in love with usually a douche or pansy guy and I don't like watching a romance from a guys view because he usually is a d*ck and I don't feel he deserves the girl. Yuri is really one of the only romance ways I like in stories.

I really love watching the Prince be shitted on. That's always fun for me. In stories when the Hero or Prince gets destroyed by words and even violence. I like how both Lilia and Ghost-Kun just start shitting on him. I like the idea that one night Tina will be spending the night with Lilia like a sleepover in the dorms. Have it somehow be brought up and both Tina and Lilia start talking about how annoying he is and how self-righteous he can be. I'd even love it if the friendly and nice Tina admits that she doesn't have any feelings for him and only talks to him cause she is too kind in heart.

Overall I think this story is awesome. I wish we already had more of this. Hell, I think this would be an awesome manga or Anime. <<less

I won't give it a star rating yet as 12/190+ chapters leaves much story yet to be discovered. But will say that I like it so far. Full disclosure: I love otome game LN's, reincarnation or otherwise. But I've always been bothered by the fact that, once they remember their old lives, all trace of the noble mindset disappears, except for the super convenient knowledge of etiquette/how to be a fancy pants. Why do the values of the previous life completely outweigh the current? And it's not like I'm saying... more>> the MC should disregard common people and torture them like nobles do, but acting Without regard to the social hierarchy in the current world goes against at least half of her common sense. Without giving a plausible reason, it's just a lazy setup by the author. But this novel sets itself apart completely. Because we get to see a noble girl be a noble girl. For her, not having to think about the feelings of non-nobles is the default; and suddenly making changing her mindset is the difficult part. Maybe that difference only exists because she's possessed and not reincarnated and therefore doesn't have memories of another life with a different social structure, but I think it still addresses an issue with LNs. Her personality doesn't change immediately because it shouldn't. Instead, she has to take her time to merge the two ideologies. Way too theoretical. My bad ^^' <<less

Impressions as of ch.8.

Interesting set-up. A retread of the "I want to change my bad route!" otome novels, but with a nice twist. The MC was already headed down the bad route when the story gets rolling, because she did not heed the advice of a mysterious voice two years prior. Now full of regrets and warned that her family would be ruined, the MC reluctantly decides to follow the guidance of the ghostly voice.

What makes the MC different from the others of the genre is that the MC is... more>> a haughty aristocrat and thus cannot even to begin comprehend about being kind, generous or thoughtful because such things simply do not occur to her at all. Raised as a noble and taking things for granted, she is used to treat those below her station like an afterthought, and her set ways causes the mysterious voice to be exasperated at times.

Each chapter is relatively brief, the translation is good and the translator had taken the pains to colorized the internal dialogue so that readers know who is speaking what (the MC and the ghost).

Nice hook, and I suspect the series will be more about the MC's slow understanding and changing into "a good character".

Looking forward for more. <<less

So far this is looking to be a fun story of a duke's daughter that was originally heading to ruin, had her engagement cancelled, and is now trying to pull herself together before she falls into ruin with the help of the voice in her head (TM). Unlike the sympathetic villainesses that have been popular lately, she was very much a flawed character at the beginning being very prideful (and expressing that pride in all the wrong ways), quick-tempered, impetuous, blowing up over the smallest things, and incapable of getting... more>> along with anyone. Fortunately, she has some good traits to, she's smart and can learn from past mistakes once she brings herself to actually acknowledge them and is now working on fixing herself with the help of the voice in her head (TM) before she gets the Bad End.

Btw, I think the people saying that the voice is pushing her into acting Japanese are wrong. The voice isn't trying to get her to act humble or throw out her pride and didn't complain at all when the MC

I'm giving this 4 stars right now since we're still early into the story but this definitely has 5 star potential. <<less

Reviewed at Chapter 8: Another story which starts with a woman being spurned by her fiance. However what differs is that there is no reincarnation that appears and sets things straight for the now dead heroine. Instead, the MC was actually in the wrong, and with the prompting of a voice in her head, must face the consequences of her own actions and improve herself to prevent her from bring about her family’s destruction.

Spoiler

The story is just starting, however it’s evident that the MC is not a good person, but she has the potential to become one. The daughter of a duke, she’s always been spoilt and left to her own devices, causing her to be arrogant and dismissive of people around her. However, interacting with the voice inside her mind she’s slowly becoming aware of the problems with her own behaviour.

It’s already hinted that she’s very intelligent, and strong willed, while she’s able to follow instructions and is willing to learn. She’s still not sure why she needs to change herself though, but once she matures she’ll become a very able and likeable character who stands above the generically ‘perfect’ characters in most Japanese light novels, and the calculating and petty attitudes of MCs in Chinese novels.

Spoiler

I’m not sure how the rest of the story will develop, but I did enjoy the chapters that are already out. The MC is different from the perfect or ideal female lead who sparkles once she assumes a new body, and is imperfect and flawed enough for readers to find her believable. At this stage she’s still being guided and spoonfed on human interaction, but soon she’ll start feeling and exploring relationships for herself.

This novel may seem rather flimsy at first especially when compared to its far more popular comrades of this genre and style but I'm actually enjoying it a lot. It feels far more fresh because the protagonist is not a transmigrated ~worldly~ modern woman but rather a painfully flawed product of her context: a snotty, spoiled, Duke's daughter. Watching her sincere desire for self growth and her hilariously earnest failure to understand how to give and receive kind feelings and intentions is both wonderful and entertaining.

I dearly hope the novel... more>> translations pick up but considering the recent absurdly fast pace at which the translator is churning out Kenkyo, Kenjitsu o Motto ni Ikite Orimasu I could hardly feel impatient or self entitled to more. <<less

Okay start, the protagonists personality is interesting and a nice change when compared to other stories of the same genre. The plot is predictable and easy to follow. From what ot looks like the MC might have a completely different personality by the end of the story which I wouldn't like as being prideful is a good trait for her.

Funny and heartwarming story. The premise is different from the usual villainess daughter stories where transmigrator or reincarnator takes over the MC, which is what makes this story unique. It's enjoyable to the end.

A bit early to comment but really I find that the voice (sakura) way is quite wrong. That's not correcting mistakes but forcing someone to become someone else. Good people don't all have to be over friendly, always smiling and down to earth charchter. Actually as a duke's daughter that charchter isn't really the best. Also what's wrong about people preferring other types of food ??

Hope it gets better

A great series about the friendship of an ex-villainess and a ghost. Both are pretty flawed characters in their own way but eventually grow into a better person (or ghost) through the influence of the other person.

The Romance tag is generally a "lie". It started of as a standard romance plot but nobody seems to care that much after a while probably because its not the focus. This is also NOT YURI

The focus is more around Slice of Life, the two leads' friendship and one "mystery". The mystery is about... more>> Sakura's role as a ghost.

Spoiler

At the start of the story, Lillia asked if Sakura was an evil spirit. Sakura mumbled back that Lillia is not wrong.

Rated 4 star because I had to read through the raws. In other words. There are plenty of things I can't fully understand and I would not be able to poke on things like "highly praising Japanese culture" "too many fillers" "too repetitive" etc. <<less

It's pretty hard to rate this with not enough chapters to judge properly, however the beginning is quite promising. I was very cautious to begin reading due to the top review here, but I was pleasantly surprised in the end. There's nothing intrinsically Japanese about the things main character is taught. Rather I'd call them "basic humility" and, maybe, a bit of "modern sensibilities". The novel itself is rather interesting since we get to see a point of view of a rotten noble trying to reform without magical personality overwrites... more>> or precise future knowledge. While the basic plot isn't that uncommon, this brings a rather refreshing twist to it. I might change the rating and this review if the story starts to fail, but for now there's no reason not to give it a read. <<less

I really like the premise and they characters are very likeable both Sakura and Lilia. But it seems like they are turning her from a cool, powerful and prideful girl into the generic good girl number 1414065. Tbh, I'm enjoying Lilia's personality and dialog when she's talking to Sakura way more than to her friends.

I wish I could give 4.5 stars instead of 4

Good plot so far. Just that the guy she is teaching might make me drop this series as the following chapters might start with "After studying with Ray..." etc. I don't want repeatitive chapters. What I want is new things added into the story. So yeah, we will see.

It's a great story! Also, while it's true that at the beginning it might look a bit like a sort of story that tries to show off Japanese culture, it doesn't stay that way. Let's just say, Sakura learnt of her error of trying to force her way on Lilia. So, really... it is heartwarming story where everything doesn't stay the same and everyone is constantly learning and evolving for better or worse.
