“I am the heroine’s rival from the game?

And in the bad ending, I get stabbed to death?

What a joke.”

A story in which the protagonist is determined to avoid a yandere situation.

It’s my favorite novel of this genre, and I wish it was even just a bit longer so I could enjoy the characters more.

However, I highly advise against reading the 4th arc unless you just want to have the satisfaction of having completed a novel. The 4th arc is long, tedious, and has nothing to do with the main story. I only pushed myself to finish it because I didn’t want to have dropped such an otherwise amazing novel.

What begins and perhaps progresses as a relatively average but enjoyable novel becomes incredibly powerful because of the surprising themes and observations which come through at times within Lycoris’ relationship with others. The last volume, almost perceived as an ‘extra’, provides a strong sense of thematic closure and growth that strangely ties the whole novel together despite being quite estranged from it,

The novel was overall really fun, fruity, and easy but left me feeling contemplative which I think is the best feeling of all.

I don't quite remember the ending, but I really love this! From the way it's written (I don't expect it to be that detailed) and the characters chemistry. It has the tag reverse harem, but I think only two people in the harem? (Sorry it was a while ago since I read this). I also love the MC, she is not the dumb and dense MC.

If there is one thing I don't like, probably the length. I expect it to be longer, at least 50-60ish chapter because there is still... more>> a lot of potential to continue the story. <<less

This is a very charming coming-of-age story.

SUMMARY:

After feeling a sense of deja-vu for her entire life, young noble girl Lycoris suddenly awakes memories of a previous life at the age of ten. She learns that she was the "villian" who opposed the main character and met a violent end in a yandere pc dating game -- where the characters are all twisted and have possible bad endings. This novel follows Lycoris's life as she tries to change her fate.

... more>> THOUGHTS:

While the reincarnated-as-the-villainess-in-an-otome-game plot has been done before in other novels, this story still has its own charm.

The heroine is likable, level-headed, and not OP or all-knowing. The side characters have interesting and complex personalities. The romance is gradual and believable (and not just a reverse harem, which is refreshing).

The translation quality is also pretty good. I'd give it 4-4.5 out of 5.

Overall, even if you've read other novels with similar plots, I still recommend that you try reading this.

Update:

The last book -- the extra "stage ghost" arc -- is long and dull. It has no relation or impact on the plot. You don't need to read it to enjoy the rest of the story. I actually recommend you DON'T read it. If you stop reading when the book is focused on the main character, you won't be bored and disenchanted at the end like me. That last arc lowered my rating by a full star. <<less

Not complete yet but the arcs it currently has are worth re-reading. MC is interesting to read about, her character is great. Most of the characters love her and it's written well, but she has a 1v1 romance with her ML... who is, of course, very very into her. Love the romance.

The plot runs smoothly and progresses at a steady pace. It has often an easygoing feel to it inspire of the protagonists many worries. But occasionally and suddenly shocking scenes may turn upp- the Yandere aspect.

The different characters are fairly mature so they may pleasantly surprise.

There's also a minor, but nice twist at the end. May leisurely enjoyed.

It's a good read, the content is interesting and really worth reading.

The only thing that bothered me is that in my opinion the protagonist is always telling the story of others and never about herself, first it's about her fiancé, then about her brother, then about her friend who is the heroine of the game, then about the actress...
It's always about others and never about her.

I wish you could give fractional star values, because this is a definite 4.5/5 for me. It's well paced, sometimes funny, and above all it's just a decent and smooth story. I don't think the plot would look extraordinary on paper, but I was always looking forward to the next chapter. I was disappointed that I had read up to the end of the translated portion.

one of the best novels of this genre I've read so far.

The MC is so well written, and she actually has one potential lover. She's not OP at all but not weak either.

The ML is a great guy, arrogant at first but he soon opens up to the MC. A very cute couple!

the plot is simple and the end is quite satisfying even tho I wish there were more romantic scenes in the school arc.

the side characters are good and interesting.

overall a light read totally worth it!

I like this version of the otome-isekai. The fiance-arc is cute while they are kids and the whole novel is relatively short so it makes a quick and easy read. I skimmed the final arc a bit and followed others' advice and did not read it. It was a side story.

I can't help but like this series. It's not my absolute favorite "reincarnated into an otome game" series, but it's definitely one that I can see myself reading again in the future and one that I think may do well if it is ever officially brought over.

The characters are all pretty decent and if I had to compare it to any series, I think I'd say it's the yandere version of Destruction Flag Otome/I Reincarnated into an Otome Game as a Villainess. There are some yandere elements, but it's not... more>> as bad as some of the other ones out there.

This is short, but honestly, I'm leaving this more for my own records. <<less

Really solid novel, but I came looking for romance and honestly I felt like it should have had the Romantic Subplot tag rather than it being a genre. Romance was there and it was good, but there was barely any of it.

Not the best story but really interesting especially because the point of view of the heroine. Unlike most otome game, here the ML is clearly identify and the only interest for the FL. The story have some dark side which is better.

It was an enjoyable enough novel. The writing certainly wasn't the most incredible writing I've read before, but it was decent enough. The characters were very likable, even if only two of the capture targets ever really get fleshed out... But also, despite any preconceptions, this isn't quite a harem novel at all. The MC essentially falls in love and sticks with him the whole novel. Which is fine! It's not a bad thing. Just don't expect a sort of "oblivious to everyone's affections" or "who should I pick" type... more>> of story. The story itself certainly could have benefitted from being longer I think and the ending almost feels rushed and slightly unsatisfactory. But overall I found it to be an enjoyable enough novel. Nothing groundbreaking, but good enough. Even if I wished there was more yandere elements... The manga is also very good and I highly recommend it! <<less

The story was good but the ending, so not satisfactory. It ended where it shouldn't have ended. Usually, the ending for these kinds of novels would be the MC and ML getting married with a few extra chapters of their lives with kids and some with the lives of the other important characters. But this novel ended after the school arc. Basically. The other arcs are just fillers.

At first, I only tried reading this novel because I was bored, which meant that I did not have any expectation, but to my delight, this is a really enjoyable story!

Compared to other stories in the same genre, it is lighter but still has the tense moments that make you unable to stop reading. I love how Lycoris is a sensible and nice girl, not the usual dense and too-focused-on-avoiding-death-flags MC we usually get. She builds genuine relationships with the other characters, and I adore her for it. Knowing about... more>> yandere Wolf from the game made me wary of him at first, but I'm glad he turns out to be an earnest person who loves Lycoris with all his heart. If only we can have more romantic moments between the two... *sighs*

Other characters are great as well. I grow to have a soft spot for Shade despite disliking him at first. Similar to Lycoris, I am also wary of Lily, but I think the Lily we see here will make a great protagonist in a story without yandere. Too bad the other two capturable targets don't appear that often. They seem to be quirky as well.

I wish the story is longer as I don't feel like parting with this cast of characters, but well, as they say, if wishes are horses, beggars would ride. <<less

I absolutely adore this story! I love the concept of the villain remembering her previous life and realize her current life from a manga or otome game. The MC is simply refreshing. She does her best and try to help everyone she can. She may be a bit lonely, but never greedy for anything more. I simply ship the MC and ML so very much. They care for each other so much, even after they opposed each other in the beginning and knowing what she knew was suppose to happen... more>> in the future.

The translation is excellent, given it gets wonky a little in the end with the unedited version and moonbunnycafe sometime not opening. Rather a short read, so I definitely say give this a try!

Spoiler

She does befriend all the capture targets for the heroine in the game. Some more than others. And ends up loving one the target, her fiance who was supposed to kill her in the future for the heroine. Her father is super amazing. Shade, the other capture target, becomes her stepbrother. She becomes friends with the heroine!

Decent novel but could have been much much longer if you ask me, nevertheless the novel is still worthwhile reading if you enjoy the genre. The MC is not extremely generic and is quite down to earth.

Spoiler

I really wish Lily was the lover and not wolf.
