Please use proper spacing and paragraphs.Lyle Walt is a young noble boy and heir looking forward to the day he can inherit his family’s territory. Except around when he was 10 year old, his parents started neglecting him more and more in favour of his little sister, Celes.
On his fifteenth birthday, he is challenged to a duel by his sister to see who will inherit the household and horribly loses, being cast out of his family. Afterwards, he gets treated by the family groundskeepers and receives the family heirloom Gem from him that Lyle’s grandfather had entrusted to him. From there, he begins an aimless journey with his childhood friend and former fiancée, Novem, and the Gem-turned-Jewel that houses the memories, personalities, and Skills of seven of his ancestors.

>I get it, the main character is supposed to be an anti-hero
What? Lyle is so far removed from the trope of being "anti-hero", I don't even know where to start with that. Hell, in the very beginning, we see Lyle cry his eyes out after his family disowns him and kicks him out of the house. > If the author had just toned it down a slight bit
Toned down what!? In chapter 10, it's the first time Lyle and his party encounter monsters for crying out loud and he uses only 1 skill. He killed most of them but not all. I REALLY don't get what you're complaining about, and quite frankly all the things you've listed are just buzz words. Real review though:
Lyle's people skill is shit. I'll say it plain as day. He's not a coward or anything, but in the 15 years of his life, the last 5 of those was spent into basically being hated by his whole house and even his parents. So from that angle, its understandable that Lyle's ability to communicate to other is understandable. Also, the phenomenon "mr. Lyle" balances this out. Where Lyle is afraid addressing the elephant in the room, "mr. Lyle" doesn't care and does it with a huge smile on his face. It's actually a good character device as it balances out his character. As the story goes along, Lyle's character also begins to change and goes closer to "mr. Lyle", though still with restraints. Most of the other characters are also given a lot of air time, making the pace feel a bit slow. However, the character interactions should keep you well entertained as they are often quite funny.
Of course not all characters are treated with much love from the author, so some may feel lacking in depth. But all in all, you can expect to get attached to some characters.
Personally I'm attached to the Sixth Gen Head of the Walt House. You have been warned this was a spoiler of some sort.
"Now how about story development?" you ask. Without giving too many details, I'd say: It definitely has a solid plot that it is following. It isn't some random bullsh-t put together. Although, that does not mean you won't find some holes. *Insert Smart Remark on how a Character should have done so and so*
While it is not perfect it is very tollerable[this is subjective]. Now that may sound contradicting but think of playing a game. You can complete it without the side missions and understand the story in its entirety. Now to end this short Review which isn't a total spoiler. I would definitely recommend this Light Novel. It is a good read. If you don't like it, then it wasn't for you. Simple as that. You can drop it, read on intervals, etc. It is up to you. All I hope for is: 1) You read this Review and get intrigued
2) Don't make quick judgments due to a numerous amount of poor Reviews (which in my opinion all say the same thing) Always decide if it's worth reading for yourselves.
