It's actually a very heart warming story, some sad parts, but overall very well written with interesting characters, with a throwback on the Strong Male Protagonist, but doesn't flaunt his powers just wanna relax, with awesome love interest.

Most people however will not be able to enjoy this till around the 100th chapter (lots of foundation building, very interesting but its not for everyone who likes to read the more adventure arcs... basically wait and hope the TL gets far some day assuming you're reading English).

It is understandable why the MC is hated. He pretend to be weak and is lazy (he portrait as a leech) who will not hate such boring MC?

Decided to drop this one, even though I just reach a couple of chapters. It is OK to be humble but not showing any aggressiveness towards success is underestimating those who strive. Genius? No this MC is just truly boring for me. Good MC should have a bit of hard work.

In response to other reviewers who think the MC is lazy and/or disrespectful of those who work hard: It's not revealed in the first few chapters, but that's not the case at all. *minor spoiler warning*
Spoiler

The MC is in fact working hard every single day in the academy, it's just that the problems he is trying to solve are completely different from those of other people.

Think of the MC as post-graduate student who accompanies his friend to a boarding type high school. There is nothing for him to learn from the classes there, so he stays in his room and quietly works on his own thesis. But because the regular students and teachers don't see this, they mistakenly assume he is lazy.

I don’t usually write reviews, but I have been reading a few unique novels lately. This one is unique and refreshing. Although the plot slowly flows, once it picks up it becomes extremely interesting. It definitely has the mahouka koukou no rettousei vibe. The characters introduced so far are interesting and funny in their own way. Def. Worth the read, if you can make it through the slow starting pace

Pretty good. It has an atypical cultivation system, and avoids the annoying word count chasing repetition that you see in a lot of xianxia/xuanhuan *cough* TMW *cough*. The MC is strong from the start, and likeable.

I'd probably put this in my top 25 of the 50-100 xuanhuan I've read.

Worth reading.

One word "boring". The MC is too overpowered but he doesn't care about anything. You can as well replace him with some robot.

This was a nice read for the first 200 or so chapters. It felt different; this wasn't your normal go to school-piss off random jerk rinse and repeat, but after chapter 200 I feel as if I've started reading fillers. Anyone who though the first 40 chapters were slow haven't seen anything yet. I read 100 chapters and not even a week had passed in the story (and it mostly felt like filler)

This is a nice story, but I have no idea where the author is taking this.

Hello, I will clear a few misunderstandings regarding the genres.

1) There might not be much romance

Now, this might not be true, and there might be some romance later, but it seems unlikely. If you’ve read the other work by the same author (King’s Avatar on gravity) you will probably know what I am talking about. There would be plenty of bittersweet conversations, but a full out romance seems unlikely.

... more>> 2) Protagonist is not lazy at all.

So MC is neither lazy nor does he intend to hide his power. He has his circumstances as you would know when you read the novel. 3) MC may seem OP at first, but later you will realize that things are much more than what they seemed at first

4) Last of all, the build up is slow, but it’s not unexciting. It is enough to keep you hooked if you get past first twenty chapters <<less

As of chapter 20, I gave a maybe premature 5/5 because I love the MC’s attitude, it’s kinda like shanks in one piece.

Everyone’s stepping on him, mocking him, they all think he’s a tr*sh and he doesn’t give a damn.

Someone tries to kill him, he doesn’t mind either but if anyone try to hurt his friends, they’ll discover he’s a freaking monster. It doesn't look like he's hiding his strength but that he simply don't care. It’s refreshing to find such a lay back MC after all the c*cky ones.... more>> <<less

Main problem with the web novel is the slow translation updates. It seemed like it was dropped for a while.

Some have a problem with the MC, because he is "lazy, " but he has a tragic past.
Spoiler

MC was held against his will and treated like a lab rat. MC and his friend escaped, but the people they escaped from are looking for them. His power his unique, so he might be recognized, so he does not use it unless necessary.

So, many things that bother others, does not bother the MC. However, if you mess with anyone close to the MC, especially his close friend. He will not hesitate to show his anger and power.

This story is awesome. As expected from the writer of TKA, which is the only reason I even fell upon this novel in the first place. First of all, ignore the reviews about the MC being boring and lazy, because they probably didn't read the first 10 chapters, if that.

For the guys giving one/two star and complaining about MC, they probably haven't read much. If what you're reading is boring, skip ahead to get the spoilers, and I guarantee you will be going back to start over. The MC isn't... more>> being lazy at all, he just doesn't do anything at the institution he starts at, because no one there can measure up to a portion of his strength, or even help him. He has some restriction that he's been working his way out of on his own, and that he could accomplish as much as he did by teaching himself (what no one else there could teach him) it's proof enough that he's a strong MC. I wouldn't call the girl with him a love interest, but they are very protective of each other, and it's pretty much where you go, I go with these two.

As to why he's so laid back, it's actually pretty tear jerking. He doesn't give a sh*t what these people say, because for him, being alive and being able to move around freely, something everyone else got to have for free, but he had to work for it, was already a joy. Someone mentioned he shows no aggression, but in later chapters he definitely shows his strength to people going after him and his friends. He doesn't do anything against verbal abuse if it's against him, but try to hurt him, or anyone while he watches, and he'll blow you away, literally.

The story is slow paced, but it has 800+ chapters so far, and TKA completed with more than twice that, with additional prequels, so details are spaced over several chapters. If you still think it's a bit boring, start from chapter 31, it explains a lot about the MC, then go back and start from the beginning to catch up to the journey up to that point, because it doesn't even really begin until around chapter 50-60, and I hear it really picks up past chapter 100.

What I would really like to know right now, is there anyone picking this story up, or not? My Chinese is terrible, and I rely heavily on MTL, but I could probably get some form of tl out there (if I'm ever actually free.) <<less

The slow initial pace of the story coupled with the not-so-fast translation takes a star away for me. The cultivation/power method feels really fresh when compared to other novels in this genre. The setting and the foundation of the story strech for sometime, but what it leaves to the reader is solid and engaging story. Humor, dangerous moments and badass scenes are written together in such a great way, that I had to acknowledge that this story isn't mediocre! A must read novel (if you can be patient)

This is a novel, that you can’t just judge from the first few chapters as it has a very slow pace to it. I don’t know if it’s just my lack of comprehension but I just couldn’t get a view of the world that this is based in as well as some things throughout the novel (up to ch19). It took me a while but I eventually started forming an image in my head of what it would be like. This novel is actually quite unique in it’s sense of... more>> cultivation and worldly features. Instead of just using realms and having a character just build up strength like climbing a ladder, Characters are made to sharpen each sense as well as their body to grow their strength. The main character although seen in other novels fits into the story quite well as not a character that is overly trying to conceal his power but is in fact just living his life with minimal effort. As I said it does take a while to build up and thus far there still hasn’t been much explained, but it just makes the story and characters more mysterious and intriguing. I recommend reading up to chapter 20 before deciding to officially drop this.

NOTE: Chapter 20 is where the real sh*t goes down. <<less

Now, this seems like nice unique novel.

The main character of this novel does not follow weak to strong trend. He is op already and he is hiding his strength. We, the readers, are learning his story and how strong he is through the story. It gives me similar vibe as “mahouka koukou no rettousei” or “The Irregular at Magic High school” in regards to the protagonist’s character development.

The cultivation method is different that what I usually read in Xianxia novels as well. There is no one realm that is divided... more>> in smaller steps. There are 6 attributes each related to our senses (vision, hearing, smell, & etc) called Soul forces. An individual can cultivate each soul force separately (given his/her talent and such) and become better on that specific attribute. This variation is a breath of fresh air for me.

As of chapter 14, it is too early to know what is the mood of the story. So far, the mood is light. There is no character that author displayed as a villein that MC wants dead. The author gave no hint of great goal for protagonist to accomplish yet.

In summary, if you like overpowered mysterious MC that doesn't flaunt or abuse his power in a story, you should give this a try without hesitation. <<less

I have a feeling that it is really slow-paced... of course not as slow as Legend of the Cultivation God and Ze Tian. The MC is overpowered in the beginning but he have a restriction on him and needs to find a way to bring out more power "uncover" with the chains attached.

It’s my first review, so I wanted to write it on something I enjoyed, and I enjoyed this very much.

The story is pretty good and unique and progression flows seamlessly from one situation to the next, but it just takes too long to resolve certain events. Cultivation is a bit weird and not fully explained. Just know that it's based on the six senses and to become stronger you have to link those senses together and in doing so brings about a multitude of enhancements and abilities.

I took off a... more>> star because the story felt too long at certain points, mainly 450+ that revolves around an academy-wide competition. <<less
