My name is Joo In-gong. The name that my parents gave me meant ‘protagonist’ of the world. Really?

As anyone can predict, I was constantly teased due to my name. In kindergarten, elementary school, middle school and high school. If I went to university as planned then I would probably be laughed at there as well.

So, at one point, I really hated my name.

But not anymore. Now, I think slightly differently. Maybe being named Joo In-gong was a type of foreshadowing?

If Ending Maker is just Diablo 2, this is pretty much just Skyrim. As always with this author, it starts weak, but becomes really interesting later on. The only flaw it has is that protagonist himself is kinda bland. But it isn't really about him. Him saving the day is the result of efforts of several way more interesting characters, he's just riding on the rails that they made for him. Again, like Skyrim. Dragonborn will be the one to save the world in the end, but only because he's... more>> following a questline that other characters gave him. <<less

Just came by again to drop a review after so long. To be honest I can't really give an unbiased review for this one because this novel is one of the first KR webnovel I have finished reading and it just hits different for me. I already re-read this 3 times from start to finish.

I had read LMS, Ark, EER, Solo Leveling, Overgeared before Breakers yet I never finished those novels. I'm not saying those were bad it just ain't for me, I like the BEGINNING of those novels but... more>> I hate the MC's transformation to subtle god-complex. The MC here is a little bit more down to earth.

The drama is not really deep, kinda cliche and predictable but that's what I like, no need to get stressed about things. The royal succession battle is nice and simple, not like other novels where brothers and sisters fight to the death, betray allies just to become king, most characters are nice. Antagonists are there just for their roles as antagonists, their motives are just plain and boring but I like to call it straight forward. No need for a sob backstory to justify them.

Romance/Harem is kinda meh.
Spoiler

Early on author's note the demon kings children are all half-sura bloodline, but on MC Stats - Species just keeps on stating just Gandharva not half, and lo and behold a not really spoiler spoiler, its a you can guess, although the reveal is on a later chapter but in short he's not blood related to any of his siblings

[collapse]

Fight scenes are ok nothing ground breaking. Game Elements are kinda just there to make things more simple, the numerical stats like str, int, agi, etc. Are quickly not mentioned, the only thing to remember is that stamina recovers upon level-up, and MC learns fast because of his Conquest Knight uniqueness.

What I like in this novel is that in the end every problems here gets solved by a simple solution "Become Strong" <<less

A fun read but so much potential has been wasted, later on the level ups are just fillers and dues ex takes care of the rest

Loses the plot

The MC has to prevent his execution in 5 years from the game MC. However half way through the novel, a month has paced and we are gearing up for the final conflict.

The initial premise is thrown away in favor of simple conflicts and boring characters.

A deeper, longer and more complicated story would of helped this novel. Instead we got an alright harem power fantasy.

Rate 3 stars, I miscl**ked

The story is about the main character transported to the body of a character in a game he played. He needs to get stronger to prevent the disaster in the future from happening.

The source of the main character's strength is not his extensive knowledge of the game, but his extremely thick plot armor. The story completely went to a different path as compared to the game events, rendering his game knowledge not so helpful.

... more>> The game elements like levels and stuff, gradually disappeared as the story progressed.

The ending was fine, but it was rushed. <<less

The plot involves MC playing a game, and coming to live in that game world. He has knowledge of the world due to having played the original game. Cliche. The events that transpire in the story are different than that which occur in the game. The story doesn't follow MC rushing for every item as fast as possible, the items which are given a name are special items which were in areas the original game made inaccessible, mostly. The plot of the original game is correct in some ways, which... more>> allows the MC to know many things however the villains of the reality are different than those in the game. Which makes every event different than what happens in the game world. In other words, although MC knows about some easy to find quest items, every event is different than what happened in the game, hence the story isnt about the MC resolving conflicts 10 steps ahead of the conflict occurring. It's a bit different than the typical direction of these novels.

Regardless of that, the overall novel is just average. Nothing particularly outstanding in terms of characters, or anything much which makes it stand above the crowd.

The orc though is alright. <<less

As others have mentioned, it is truly a shounen novel, a good one though.

I enjoyed reading it and I have to say, the plot armor is really next level. I do feel that it would have been better if there is more spacing in the novel. What I mean by that is that the power of the protagonist and the plot progressed super fast and within a very short time frame.

Having said that, I do think that it is a novel worth reading if you are not a fussy reader... more>> who expects complicated plot and world building, <<less

Only 60 chapters in and I'm annoyed with this novel. 60 chapters in and the MC feels extremely detached from the world and story. It makes it feel like all the characters are just illusions, fakes. No need to care about any of them.

Then in every chapter, the MC has a crazy amount of inner monologue, where he just gets lost in some randon, s*upid thought. The characters around him have to keep asking him if he's okay, because he'll do that dumb... more>> 'lost in thought' right in the middle of a conversation with others. MC doesn't pay attention to dialogue. He doesn't follow conversations. This gives further credence to the feeling of the MC being detached from everything.

If the MC doesn't even care about the story, why should I?

Some people may love this novel. If you like empty stories with hollow characters, with an MC who truly acts like everything is just a game. Then you'll enjoy this novel.

For me though, I like caring about characters. I like the story to have meaning. I like the worlds to be real and for the MC to actually assimilate into his new world and treat the new world as real. All of the characters so far are just empty shells. The author introduces them to us in a way that makes us think they are just fake and insignificant. <<less

The novel was enjoyable and fun to read. This author really makes good "Shonen Jump" novels. I think that description is enough to tell a lot about this novel.

Ending felt a bit rushed but still much better than a lot of useless fillers so I don't feel that bad about it. The story doesn't focus much on romance.

I recommend this as a light read for those who like action stories with good humor and happy feels.

Very nice book, slightly rushed, but all the same for me. Was hoping for a few more side stories in other lands and worlds, but it's good.

Finally finished the novel

A fairly enjoyable read, would've give full star if its not for the fact that the plot is way too fast paced and predictable.

If you are into the weak-turn-overpowered character with cheat skill this might be the one for you

The story is kinda shallow, there's not much development in each character even tho it has a great potential from the early chapters. it has the cliche overpowered MC with the repetitive scenario where MC gets all the over-powered items and get stronger suddenly with levels up. The... more>> character around the MC is way too naive and trust MC without having any 2nd thoughts. there's almost no rest between arcs. Some things get way too boring and annoying at times, like how the girl keep saying the MC is 'amazing' from the early chapter till the end of the chapter... <<less

Finished it a long while ago but decided to write review now.

Honestly, I think this is one of the best and most consistent webnovels I have ever read. There are many reasons as for why this is so and though I call it one of the best it is still not without it's own flaws but the sum of the parts elevates it above so many others.

Pros:

  1. Good Characters and a compelling plot that while similar in certain respects to the MC's game yet also different such that he is unable to predict every single event that is to come.
  2. The Romance while not amazing is good and the inclusion of a harem / polygamy actually makes a lot of sense within the context of the demon world in order to make political ties and create stronger progeny. It isn't rushed nor is it forced with the main female interests being prominent throughout the story.
  3. The story flows as a whole extremely well and has a satisfying ending even though it probably could've been a bit on the longer side but nonetheless it left me happy with how it went. This is unlike so many Chinese WN's which wither and rot during later parts of the story for example Coiling Dragon (great initially, mindnumbing later).
Cons:

  1. Length could've been a bit longer but only if the story remained as good as it is.
  2. Things are bit to easy as a whole for the protagonist with to little going wrong and some of the big bads didn't get enough screen time nor exposistion and exploration.

It's a good story, most of the time going to another world is a pretty good theme and the crazy development of the MC makes the story go on in a nice pace and end up before you get feed up with it hahaha I really liked the variety on the side characters and there's a nice harem in it as well, normally I get a little bored with then, but in this novel, since it only consolidates at the end, it's fun to watch, mainly the side stories. And... more>> I'd recommend any novel translated by Rainbow Turtle =) Awesome quality and really fast pace <<less

Overall I enjoyed Breakers.

It starts great, though some things are set up that don't pay off, and the ending is abrupt.

But it's entertaining for what it is, and doesn't overstay its welcome.

The strongest point for this novel is the world building, I could really see the world its set in being the setting for a really successful anime or game, the aspect of having this massive open world with magic and ancient weapons out there for you to find sounds really interesting to me and for the first 100ish chapters thats what it was, just an interesting adventure game world but after that it got to the point where the MC was just getting all the treasures... all the time and... more>> was basically unbeatable Jesus Stu Poppins like at one point it felt like the threats in story were written im by the author...i know its all written in but I mean it felt like those threats shouldnt have existed in that world ans only did because the author needed bring in a someone to be stronger than the MC... just didnt feel organic to me.

Its a shame too because I really liked the setting. <<less

This was by far the most "amazing" light novel I've read so far where the main character doesn't go on some killing spree just to show how cool there supposed to be. I really like the MC in this. I like how he thinks things through and can be calm and not just some villain called MC. I want to read more like this. Thanks a lot for a great light novel.

Exelent.

well written, good narration and dramatization; this novel makes use of every word in a meaningfull way.

inspiring, youthful, heroic and clean.

... more>> It has a nice romance; the heroines are morally noble, they are very femenine, the MC treats them like human beings Worthy of love and the protagonist makes his happiness the priority, as opposed to lady pleasing as an end in itself or society escalation.

Very natural development and objective narrations. If you are tired of all the novels obcesed with evil and obcenities this is a like the light in the Chappelle. <<less

A very easy to read story accompanied by a good MC. It's also a completed story now so there won't be any fuss with release speed or bad arcs/ending. A very good novel. Just read it.

Many people complain about how the MC knows the future and shows it off and that he really doesn't "know anything". The thing here is - How often do you play a game and remember every little side-character and little bit of lore? Especially when one of the main premises even early on is that the MC's knowledge of the future is very flawed, because the world he is in has marked differences between the game. Take him for example as the most blatant example. Shutra Ignus is ignored in... more>> the game because he does nothing and doesn't stand out. Yet in this world he is a cheat god incredibly early on (learning skills others take years to learn by getting hit with it). Not to mention this justifies his lack of knowledge regarding his own situation, which many people seem angered by. Why would he care about Shutra when he was playing the game? So he doesn't know much about Shutra to begin with. Now he's in Shutra's shoes and the future is radically different already.

Certainly not a perfect, 5 star novel, but far better than many other KR novels, not to mention JP and CN novels which seem to have very low average quality.

Read it if you want a protagonist who isn't too dense, relatively self aware, isn't afraid to mix comedy and serious plot, and has a kickass harem-god orc sidekick (and people who complain about the orc having a harem seem a little self-conscious, hell, the MC still has a qualitatively better harem. And don't call me out on that ad hominem). <<less
