My name is Joo In-gong. The name that my parents gave me meant ‘protagonist’ of the world. Really?

As anyone can predict, I was constantly teased due to my name. In kindergarten, elementary school, middle school and high school. If I went to university as planned then I would probably be laughed at there as well.

So, at one point, I really hated my name.

But not anymore. Now, I think slightly differently. Maybe being named Joo In-gong was a type of foreshadowing?

Dropped at chapter 76, I'm just losing interest as the story goes. And I confirm that this is a shounen novel, it's just not my genre. MC doesn't have any attachment with the world he's in and the world he came from, he just live in his head all the time! Even in a life or death situation, what kind of s*upid MC did that? If you like shounen novel with a little depth in the story then this is for you, for me it's just too shallow.

2 stars from me, this is a typical korean novel with op MC which translate to ridiculously fast paced story

I don't mind that actually, I iove some korean novels like Solo levelling and EER. But this novel is way too shallow

My main problem is the novel don't know what it wants to be, at first I thought it'd be VR game based, but no it turns out to be transmigration based on the game, which is still ok, but then the game element was ditched and the level, stats, and... more>> experience means almost nothing. I can feel how the author was overwhelmed on how to make the MC not op based on the rules in first few chapters and decided just to not mention the stat window ever again.

Outside of that, the story is bland, very predictable in fact. Combined that with the "send enemy before MC got op" kinda makes the whole experience not that great, the MC is like 15 by the end of the novel, ridiculous

Ultimately though, it is still readable due to its short run, so it's not like a wholesome 2 stars, it's more like 2.5 stars <<less

This novel is not bad, but it doesn't have any characteristics to be a good one either.

The biggest flaws as I see it is the MC who is supposed to have great knowledge of the game spends the majority of the time "going with the flow" which is following the orders given to him by the Demon King and remembering quests and events nearby the locations he is sent to that can help him achieve his ultimate goals instead of making active decisions on where to go and what to... more>> do. Also the side characters are a bit shallow and the political issues that are given greater light in the beginning are underdeveloped in the story which results in a boring and bland story.

Overall, it is an okay novel to spend some time, but you shouldn't have high expectations. <<less

Although this novel is pretty similar to the settings of Dungeon Defense, they're very different at all 'cause on DD Dantalian from earth is already a genius and his views are different than normal ones compared to In-gong who's pretty normal from earth aside from his name "Protagonist" and only knowledgeable 'bout the game. Story wise I can't say anything that's unique 'bout because it's pretty much follow the usual transported/transmigration to another world with cheat and knowing something about that said world. But if you're gonna ask me on... more>> why do I like this novel? I'm gonna say that I like it because it's easy to read, the pace of novel is good like no sudden event jumping and also as of now there's no big cliffhanger at all ^^. <<less

It's quite a unique game like genre compared to the usual game themed novels I've already read. It gave me a fresh new outlook in a gaming themed novel.

Game theme is not much detailed but gave me some interest in how it has been developed and how it goes on after the story moves on.

I like the arch-type theme of the story but not so much on regards to werewolves, elves and other mythical beings. Probably because I've read a lot of those stuff that I wanted more of a... more>> unique world building theme, but still quite nice to see how it goes on and the different ideology of mythical beings on what the author would think of them as.

It's a bit shorter than the past novels I've read comparing to Chinese novels but still a great read. It's a good change of pace because I've been reading mostly Chinese novels. <<less

I like it but......

I hate Carack for making a harem by himself while MC only have sisters around him with potential in*est happening after hearing the queen ask him what he thinks about them. (possibly romantically)

Worth reading, it gives the feeling that it was written in one piece from beginning to end unlike many other novels that have a later story arc that has nothing to do with the earlier story arc. It also has a good ending " In my opinion, " and it's not dragged out or rushed. I recommend that you read this, it's one of the better novels on this site.

A terribly disappointing ending. I started reading right as Breakers started getting translated, and I've enjoyed the ride all the way up until now, but no longer. It feels like right around Chapter 215 or so, the author decided to skip straight to the ending. A lot of stories feel bloated, like they could have been told in half the number of words. This time, it's the opposite. The final battle is too sudden, and too rushed. There could easily have been another 100 or even 200 chapters, the better to flesh out the storyline, explore the world, and develop the characters outside Shutra/In-gong's inner circle.

This was a story with a lot of promise. A pity that will never be realized.

One can probably see this as a typical Korean Main Character Rules All novel, and if you go into this novel with this mindset, then it's truly enjoyable. I think what the author has done best is to set the novel in a very interesting realm. With the setting of royal prince and princesses, and the foreboding backdrop of the 'four knights of apocalypse', it really moves the reader to inquire more about what will come next in the storyline.

I do agree with some others that it is a bit... more>> unfair that the main character gets to acquire everything he gets in touch with, meh, but I think if you see that as part of the story, and that he meets equally challenging opponents, then it's fine.

I really like this novel, and rainbowturtle is truly one of the top translators for korean novels. Thanks turtle! <<less

I'm giving a 5 for its potential. Entering a game world is by no means an original setting, but the MC enters as a character that did not truly have a role previously. On top of that, rather than having a background to lean on, he is stuck competing against the two heroes from the game.

With this setting, you can tell the MC cannot draw on his foreknowledge freely like other series do, but the author still mixes in little tidbits to keep the setting alive and bring focus to... more>> minor characters. The minor characters are developing, and they're not being thrown to the side for characters he has used in the game. All this would normally just be 4 stars for me, even if I'm being lenient and rating off potential, but the simple fact the MC does not walk around profiteering off of Earth technology is an automatic +1 for me. <<less

A protagonist being transported to a game world isn't a new thing, nor him knowing tricks about the game world even less him having some wronged knowledge about the characters.

However that doesn't take much away from it, the fact that he appeared as the weakest brother of the future demon lord if the game followed the plot he knows looks fairly interesting, not to mention him viewing some characters in new lights, I am not sure if I could call the protagonist wise but that doesn't really matter because he... more>> has a skill that embodies plot armor as his job is protagonist, so he could probably manage to properly execute some batman like schemes without even trying <<less

Probably the worst MC in all the novels I have read so far. The MC’s character is weak and poorly written. He doesn’t use the knowledge that he has an advantage of and most importantly has very weak will.

spoiler alert

despite being the demon king and being strong he is forced to do things that the politics dictates, the MC has no will or dominance and is pushed around by all the factions. Ironic considering his power is conquest and he is the one who is supposed to dominate them.

boring fights,... more>> borings side characters and boring villains.

the writer is just straight up shit, I cant believe such a shitty story with all the other things got 5, 4 or 3 stars. He just rode the wave of korean fantasy, with a game setting and harem toppings and still failed miserably. I like harem and fantasy but this one is just.... this is not it chief, this is not it.

i wanted to like it, I pushed myself thats why I completed it. But all I feel is what a waste of time. Dont read it, it is not even worth reading and wasting time on. <<less

It's decent for fantasy shounen story. In the world where shounen tr*sh is everywhere. It's hard to find something that's actually decent.

Breaker is a decent fantasy shounen story.

The minus one star is because the story doesn't have breathing phase. Everytime the MC finishes his mission, he always instantly gets sent to a new missions without a rest. After he finishes, in the very next chapter he instantly get sent to new mission. This happened multiple times because the whole story is centered around MC's mission from the demon palace. If you binge read this, it may get tiring because the novel doesn't give you any time to rest.

Spoiler

Not every girl in this story falls for the MC. MC's aide have a bigger harem than the MC. MC only has few love interest. Don't read it if you come for the harem, read it if you come for the shonen

Starts much like the usual vrmmo korean novels, transforms into one of those fantasy/martial world used in cultivation novels with a game element, makes you fear that it will be thousands of chapters of repeating 'there is a stronger zone and a new enemy now'.

Surprisingly though, it has a story that stays mostly coherent during the whole story, and while it does have plot shields all over the place and an OP protagonist, it is very clear about it from the very begining (it even gives the main character a... more>> skill called protagonist correction after all).

It even uses the whole "I already know what is going to happen, so I'll use that to get ahead", but doesn't abuse it like most novels, making the story go farther and farther away from the "original" each time the protagonist influences the course of it.

The writing is at a fairly good level, supported by a good translation and edition, so it's also good on that front.

Overall, a pleasant surprise that managed to keep me interested for the few days it took me to read it. <<less

Quite an enjoyable story. It isn't too brutal but it isn't all sunshine and rainbows (though it's leaning more toward the good side), i'd say it's a simple story meant for enjoyment and to pass time, not for deep thinking. It's focused on the main character which was transported from the real world to a game-like one and showing off his op-ness and road to becoming a demon king while making new friendship, bonds and protecting the ones he holds dear. There are quite a few stereotypes and cliches here... more>> and there but I have to give credit because there weren't glaring errors like sudden changes of attitude for any of the characters or inconsistencies in plot like in most other novels.

The ending felt a bit rushed, as nearly all of the secrets and foreshadows were revealed durning and after the last battle (last ~10 chapters) but it doesn't feel so bad as it was nicely closed up with the epilogue and side stories (which I personally found very sweet).

Other Characters beside the MC are likable and decent and show actual emotions appropriate to situations and aren't there just to worship MC on every action he does (they do praise him, but it isn't their only purpose in the story). Side characters get development on their own and they progress throughout the story. I guess some people might get annoyed since the closest aide of MC is a protagonist on his own - he has almost as much screentime as the MC and also has a harem but for the most part he is clueless about it while being smart and there are often jokes on how he is a protagonist in his own right from the MC.

As for his girls, they feel like real women and aren't there just to satisfy MC or be a part of his collection. MC has actual feelings for them, treats them well and there has to be quite some time spent between them for feelings of love to develop. Some of the girls are pure and naive and some are acquisitive and lean to plotting, they all have different personalities and none of them are 1-dimensional dolls. Romance isn't over the top but it isn't terrible either, i'd say it was properly executed and a nice refreshment from all those ''Love at first sight'' types.

Protagonist is pretty likable and moderate at what he does which I always support. For me, it doesn't matter if the MC is evil or good, if he is moderate in it and not going from one extreme to another. He is also not hypocritical and author doesn't ever try to make him out to be which is a big plus (doing evil things while saying it's good) . There was also some sort of a compensation for his overwhelming op-ness in a form that even his enemies and other characters are buffed way more than they should be. The only problems I had is that he kinda adjusts his mentality from a high schooler to a prince too fast (there was a paragraph about him supposed to feel trauma after his first kill but it was skipped for some reason) and the fact that he is too amenable (people drag him into other missions and he accepts them without much skepticism which feels more like a game mission and not the one you get in an actual reality). <<less

One of best korea novel on NU, where most fantasy novels tends to make MC conquer the world (and make these arcs bland), breakers put it an ending in good moment, although last arc feels rushed, though

A fun novel to read. It might not be the deepest thing ever, but it's full of hype (initially at least).

MC has cool abilities. He's not especially interesting as a character though. He's okay. Normal. XD

Seriously, I initially really liked the story (felt hype every chapter almost), but my feelings cooled down towards the end (nothing like a 5 month break to cool your feelings). The MC kinda got way OP (in a cool way, but still) and the ending was predictable. I was shocked to see Breakers end so... more>> quickly. I feel like this story could've gone much further. It's good enough for me to feel sad about its ending...

Side characters are cute. The girls aren't annoying. World building was good! The cheats got explained, pfft.

The last chapter of the story pretty much explained everything important. Felt more like a info dump reveal. It answered my questions though.

My review makes the story sound meh, but it's actually a good one. Style feels like a Shounen Manga though. <<less

Breakers is a fine short story. The protagonist and main cast are well written, although a bit archetypal for some of their traits, the background is concise but well done (the final plot explanation and the how and why of the world transfert are coherent if a bit unimaginative), there is no filler chapter, the rise to power of the main character, while quick, doesn't feel like a teenager's power trip, the harem element is present but doesn't feel forced, and the ending, while seeming a tad rushed, is well... more>> timed enough and leaves a impression of satisfaction.

To sum everything up, the elements of this tale are just above average, but the alchemy between them make Breaker a good story to read over the course of 1 or 2 weeks, not being excellent but certainly much better than a lot of other korean short novels. <<less
