This novel is mediocre at best. MC is your typical lame Japanese character that the author put no thought into.

Here's some examples what to expect from this novel and why you shouldn't waste your time

    • Gets transported to another world. Gets helped in a random village. MC knows this is a different world. Yet yet... Constantly asking remote villagers if they've heard of Japan.. when they is magic in the world he is in..
    • Introduces a bunch of technology and freely gives it out without thinking of the repercussions. and constantly tells everyone who he is and sh*t that you would keep a secret.
    • So far from what I've read he goes to random areas finds a chick and blows her mind with revolutionary technology and queue some random nobles/kings saying you're dangerous/work for me and him simply running away and leaving the problems after causing all of it. " Good bye for now" " Touch this village and ill destroy your kingdom" while running away like a bit*h when he could of solved the problem before leaving since he is all powerful and in reality said villages would be destroyed. Now these are just some of the examples off the top of my head after being annoyed while reading. Japanese authors for me at least personally have a lot of trouble making a likable MC. MC is a genius and inherits memories like a dictionary and can use all magics and calculate bullsh*t things while saying it's because he is meister but a whole volume goes by with him not knowing he can use magic to strengthen his body or knowing what world he was on since he has all his masters previous knowledge. Plot holes like that are just annoying to read.

P.S it really blows my mind that people actually give this 5 stars.

ignore it or at least read 20 chapters and you'll see yourself. It is 3 stars at best if you're being generous. Even for a slice of life novel and interesting concept it was not done well enough.

I have very mix feelings about this. After contemplating for several hours, I have arrived to a conclusion. It's not bad but... this story has so many flaws! I almost want to rate this 2stars out of anger. Please read the Cons.

    • He can easily avoid conflict if he took matters into his own hands but instead becomes indebted to others.
    • The MC heals the very people who wanted to kill him
    • He can destroy the entire world, why he under others?
    • He helps the very countries that want to kill or tie him down
    • What happen to being free and unrestrained?
    • He spills his secrets everywhere & completely oblivious of all his enemies reaching for his neck. But 'No don't kill them' Are you serious?!
    • There is no plot but based more on MC depression majority of the series.
I can't like the Romance! All she's there is to look good. She has no appealing quality as a character and was born with a golden spoon. (As much as I love Kuuderes she's only there for emotional support)

    • The only reason I'm rating this one star more... It's the Daughter! She makes it worth reading. It's just sad she's not being used properly. Even sometimes treated like sh*t by MC and unintentionally makes it hard for her. I really love this character.
    • Spoiler

Beana was a girl who loved Magi Craft and came from a poor background. So why not parthner up with her? She's also hilarious and had good potential. But instead it's with Elsa whose literally there for emotional support. She's not worthy of being called 'Mother' by Reika...

Review as of Volume 3.

After 3 volumes there isn't a sense of where the story is going. The MC has an adventure in one region, goes back to his fortified home and then goes on to another adventure elsewhere via teleportation. If you're looking for more like Death March's relatively laid-back style, you will get more here. Unfortunately none of the characters are as colorful as those in Death March. Perhaps more deeply constructed and given an interesting background than the generic tropes of Death March, but not enough to... more>> make MCM's characters stand out.

Time filler material. <<less

3/5. Mediocre.

Starts off interesting with a relatable/pitiable protagonist (hard working orphan, gets sent to another world to take on the mantle of "Magi Craft Meister, " has enough common sense to not diarrhea out technological advancements too quickly. Sadly the author can't keep established facts & character personality straight to save his life, continually introduces fan-service scenes in a poor attempt to keep things fun, and hops all over the place like the protagonist himself.....

Actually the Author is probably a pedobear.
- The village children just strip nude in... more>> front of MC after he builds a hot springs (which they've never seen in their life).
- Reiko is wearing nearly indestructible, easily cleaned clothing, yet strips nude to push a boat, lol wut? (Even though there's cleanup magic and her indestructible clothes & body could probably be cleaned with fire if she wanted to....)
- Marcia & the other competitors just happens to end up in a swimsuit, because "tradition"? (And they're all like 15 years old females... while the rules for a GOLEM BOAT RACE demands a human be on board, why? Wouldn't it be much more effective to have autonomous boats if possible?)

Examples of such derps include:
Spoiler

1) MC knowing he can't release too many technologies (asks if patent systems exists, knows current world golems are poorly made things) and has enough common sense to render his potentially compromised warp gates inoperable at the start. Yet he completely forgets this and goes around tossing around innovations left and right without building any anti-theft safeties into his new innovations like the warp gate has (how difficult is it to have his plane/boats/golem have the same option as his warp gate?..... why is he making all these planes and ships operable by anyone?)

2) Supposedly magi craft meisters are shunned during the predecessor's time and there is only one magi craft meister at a time.... yet said magi craft meister is extremely powerful, wealthy, and has access to highly advanced technologies. 1, 000 years later somehow magic craftmen are all over the place with regular non-magi craftmen nowhere to be found (still haven't met a non-magic craftsman magician 5 volumes in....) The author claims the war 300 years ago wiped out a significant portion of the magic population but that wouldn't explain why magic craftmen became so popular or why non-magic craftmen magic people are nowhere to be found.

3) Supposedly writing magic formulas in Japanese makes them more efficient and would be an excellent way to prevent others from stealing his work (Having a self destruct option like the Terminator CPUs when the magic plate is opened up or something would be very effective, right?) Yet either the entire world can either magically understand Japanese or he just forgot all about this.

4) Apparently swords are a thing, but flint/firesteel aren't? A s*upid way to make MC's "lighters" popular. MC also apparently completely forgot about his magic stone powered stoves he made for the village which would make lighters completely unnecessary. (Since they can literally run on fragments of fire magic stone dust found in a river bed.)

5) Current world golems suddenly gain a level in technology during the boat race ark. Apparently golems are rare, hard to make things yet all of a sudden an entire city has boat racing competitions with custom made highly advanced golems (Reinhardt made Lorelei which is somehow an autonomous golem which are supposedly very difficult to make, wut?)

6) Magic craftsmen also gain a level in technology during the boat race arc. They can suddenly read the orders/mana signature of enemy golems to figure out their directives and who sent them. Wtf? Why was this not mentioned/done during the 3 volumes that came before it? Why the balls didn't he do this when Gen/Gon first attacked & he re-purposed them?

7) The various villains are extremely s*upid. I guess common sense fell drastically along with the technology/magic levels of the world. Supposedly Magic craftsmen are very rare and precious commodities being jealously hoarded by various nobles yet Dumbarse McNoblederp tries to rhape the magic craftsman chick MC was providing blueprints to. Supposedly she's the apprentice of a famous local magic craftsman which makes it all the weirder than said noble would try to rhape her. The village villain is yet another dumbarse noble that tries to manhandle the MC even though the King is trying to curry MC's favor. (How the hell do you fail that hard in your mission) ? The boat arc villain is dumb enough to leave a crapload of evidence (literally left 4-6 golems with his signature and very clear sabotage orders.... in a city filled with magi craftmen that could read said orders/signature if they got their hands on them, wut?)

8) Around volume 4 when MC is making his robot army author claims "Knowledge transfer is not effective in transferring knowledge to other humans." Yet he literally received most of his knowledge from the previous magicraft meister via knowledge transfer.... and has been employing it with very little problems. The only downside is that it's like having a "book" memorized in your head to reference. But that's still PRETTY DAMN EFFECTIVE. I'd love to be able to download books directly into my brain.

9) MC drops a bombshell about magic (apparently everyone has a limited amount) as late as volume 4 chapter 6. (Prompted because of Reiko's concern to him)...... then it's brushed off because the MC has a magic body which can absorb ambient mana, so it's okay for him. Wut?

I cannot stress enough how un-enjoyable this novel is.

There is no struggle. The characters do nothing. The MC learns nothing. There are no love interests, old mentors, rivals, enemies, pressing concerns for safety, long-term plans, nothing. Even under those circumstances the series might be salvageable, or even a masterpiece if it managed to remain interesting without relying on any preconceived trope of storytelling, but it isn't. It's tr*sh.

The MC goes to a place. He meets a person. He does a magicraft-related thing for the person. Then he leaves.

That is every... more>> volume.

P.S. The translation becomes unreadable at volume 5 so don't even bother. <<less

It started as great: a relatable MC who tries to slightly ease the day to day life of the ones that

he come to love, with his knowledge that came from his experiences on his old world

and the ability he got after being transferred in the other world.

It became worse for me with how the MC will always give in/runs when he's on conflict with someone who has much higher status than him (a king, or a noble which cant threaten him) and the MC's utter denseness that when compare to... more>> the automata he made the automata is have more feelings

than him.

but the thing that made me dropped this is this:

Spoiler
    • Okay, so there is a part when a heroine is been proposed by a noble (to say the least this noble is model of virtue for the one with same status as him.).
    • So the heroine ask the MC's opinion of it. So our MC (who is secretly made out of densest elements known to man.) indirectly friendzone her by congratulating her. So the heroine who's been directly hit by probably the densest thing in that other world, is now heart-broken and decides to accept the noble's proposal.
    • later we found out that the MC has similar experience in his old world. (His highschool sweetheart got proposed by the manager from her part-time job, instead of stopping
her, he also congratulate her, which if you read between the lines: regretted doing so.) instead of learning from his past and trying to prevent something that will he will surely regret if really happens. He just decide make a birthday gift for other heroine, and somehow forgets to make a congratulatory gift for the soon to be wife of a noble his friends with (like dude its a the wedding of two good people you've known after you've been traported to a new world, seriously no gift?)
    • and I'm gonna left this: "Jin, I want to see you again later. At that time I want to show you (my wife) cradling a cute baby in her arms." the noble said that, I've no words for it. Also I'm trying to not blurt the names of ones involve so I don't further spoil more things than necessarily.
[collapse]

It's not because of this idea, rather I'm pleased that the author write this in his novel, this thing happens a lot in real life, sometimes it just doesn't work and you just gotta move on, and I have rarely seen in a story like this, but because of the execution. The execution had a bad after-taste in it. It did not do a great job of tying things up, instead of making me accept it and move on with this story, this just made it more evident the unhuman-like nature of our MC.

In my understanding this MC is just like a father: who's trying to give his family the best but will not accept any help from his relative even he really needs it. Call it pride or being selfish, but his the one to sacrifice his everything for the ones he loves. But the Author subverts my expectation and made this MC a wimp who helps other people in his spare time but can't do sh*t when it really matters. <<less

This entire story can be summed up by "Man builds aircraft carriers and jet fighters with lasers in a knight/magic world and does absolutely nothing with his infinite wealth, knowledge, and power." Yet another incredibly cliche Japanese protagonist that faces no real challenge or threats with no personal desires. The main character lacks any motivation to do anything except get dragged around by side characters across the countryside. The MC is so soulless and boring that his metallic robots have a stronger character arc than him.

I thought this story would... more>> be filled with details about crafting or making things to improve the quality of life of the citizens but he just kinda builds a bunch of incredible things from his never ending stash of materials. Maybe some kingdom building or neat interactions using modern outlook/methods to make a different kind of golem? Nah better just make a frail looking maid demi god who can level entire nations if commanded.

As the story progresses it starts skimping on the details until the OP MC just makes entire modern units in the span of a few hours and sentences. Like ~300 Naval, Air force, Army units and transportation took him a few days and a short chapter. He even stops inventing useful things to spread to the population. There is no tension or consequences for anything in the story, everything is solved shortly after the problem is introduced by an overwhelming show of force by the maid and teleportation gates.

Translation quality also dips around volume 5 where the story vaguely threatens to introduce a plot or an antagonist for the main character to defeat effortlessly. The individual kingdoms are so lifeless and interchangeable that they might as well be the same thing. The world is somehow both a tiny fraction of the size of Earth but still has huge parts of unexplored areas even after thousands of years. <<less

This novel is slice of life.. Material.. All I can say, there's not many fights and it's almost all about the interactions between characters. We can see the few times the MC decides to invent something but other then that he gives his idea to someone else and then goes on his way most of the time. The MC is like-able and the side characters seem pretty dynamic instead of static. So I do recommend this to anyone who likes slice of life in a fantasy world.

It starts off great. But then the weaknesses of the story start shining through at the 8th volume. At this point, the author has started to push for romance. Unfortunately, he messed it up bad by completely discarding every other option in what seems like 3 chapters.

Now that the author has probably chosen the pairing, it's time to create drama to bring them closer together. And let me tell you, watching the protagonist reveal every one of his secrets just to show off to the girl while also suppressing... more>> the bad guy by figuratively bringing a nuke to a knife fight... it just screams convenience and utter laziness.

I came to see magical technology that can pique the imagination. We had that at first, then the author forgot the story's roots and wanted to focus on the romance. Jin has now embarked on the path of a Chinese face-smacking wuxia protagonist. Christ... <<less

Again, a novel for those who doesn't want to take literature to the extreme.

it's just some "OP MC who doesn't care about the world and let it walk on it's own but will interfere with overly OP ability that he got from random nonsense if a chick get annoyed or disturbed by some random s*upid villain" and "a sh*t ton of plot armor and plot holes that just brushed off like that by author because he's too lazy to laid the plot in the first place"

a laid-back novel with a... more>> sh*t ton of random non sense but still acceptable to be read. Basically character development still non-existant, but maybe there will be some in the future because MC has spreaded all the seed for potentially harem member all over the place.

plot is very repetitive, but still some different changes altho only a little bit. The world history is just complete non-sense with jumbled words all over the places and somehow contradictory event being told (?). World building is just the worst, settings is just bad, plot not even that amusing.

can be read, not that bad, but obviously not for those who are serious in novels.

4/10 from me, maybe will go into 5 or 6 if the character development exist in the future chapters. <<less

I'll give it a generous 3/5. Make that 2/5

tl;dr - Not the best novel out there. Wouldn't recommend unless you have plenty of time to kill. at all.

Plot 2 / 5

Started great and interesting but now its boring. Unlike other novels where you can still stomach even if the plot is so predictable, in this novel I don't think you can do that because it has little to nothing left to offer. The romantic interaction is boring and is almost non-existent. Fight scenes are predictable. Enemies are... boring as well.... more>> Even if there's background given to them. Island building is interesting aaand that's it. MC upgrading his golems / automatas is... boring. Basically the upgrade is like the equivalent of a typical shounen novel / manga (Fight -> lose a bit -> get better -> win -> new enemy) but in this case its a (Make automata stronger -> win -> Make automata stronger -> oh we reached the best items for upgrade? don't worry after a few chapters heres a new ore that the MC will use to upgrade automata and steamroll the enemy).

Characters 2 / 5

Unlike other novels, the character development here is so slow and shallow. There are minor character background stories... and then. thats it.

Personal Enjoyment 3/5 2/5

... It's boring. I don't even know why I read this
I'd read but I wont recommend. Whenever I finish a chapter my general reaction is : Kay. Don't get your hopes up. <<less

This is quite an enjoyable series. It's a relaxed series about technologies and foods being introduced to a fantasy world by an adventurous and easy going MC. I frequently look forward to seeing what new idea the MC will come up with and how it will send ripples through the world.

World building is pretty good. I love maps, and he actually provided one. As the MC is an OP mage and engineer, he gets to see various countries, essentially be a tourist, which is neat.

The enemy conspirators are pretty comical... more>> in their attempts to revive lost technologies and their constant blunders and shock of the MC's oppressive fascist- ahem, military strength.

I am not a fan of harem manga, but most of the romance is platonic enough that I didn't mind for a long time. I did get a bit bored after 130 chapters, partly because some of the royal court scenes were annoying in their banality and the harem romance was taken a centre scene. Not sure if I'll go back and continue...

There isn't much development either. The whole "I have an automated super military of magical robots" thing just destroys much of the plot, as there's little to go from there. His whole Japanese-nostalgia island paradise is also neat enough during the first two volumes when he is building it, but then just feels boring and unnecessary without anything to add to the story later on. <<less

It is uncommon for me to write a scathing review of any piece. This one is especially deserving, both as a multi-fluent individual and from the perspective of an educated human being.

It is near impossible to write a review of how terrible this story is without entering the territory of spoilers. You have been warned.

Spoiler

For the first 9 volumes (not chapters) of the story the author follows a typical build structure in which he 'Develops' the M.C. By having him create new technologies as he fights against typical enemies. These, excuse my french, dumb f*cking characters have no depth whatsoever. The enemies are typical 'mind-control' secret organization of maniacs type of villains who do 'evil tasks' and are supposedly trying to unite the content. This group, which the author doesn't even bother coming up with a good name for, proceeds to continually have completely loose ends which the M.C. Attempts to exploit.

Multiple times after the M.C. Begins using brain copying magic this magic mysteriously fails. As the author tries to drag out this shitty attempt at a main villain against the M.C. Finally, after nearly 10 volumes of smacking my head into the table reading a shitty plot by an author who evidently had no editor, he ended the arc. Now what happens next? Oh, nothing. The author has no idea what to do, and proceeds to fumble a pre-built story into the land of depressed M.C. Antics. He so completely runs out of ideas, not original ones as nothing in this story is original, that he spends chapter after chapter after chapter writing about how close he is with the girls from the villages.

This absolute cuck has no actual goals, nothing that drives him, and no-reason to continue the plot-line. There isn't even a second worthy big-bad in the story, it pretty much putters out. After suffering through dozens of bullsh*t mini-arcs, I finally just gave up looking for any plot-line available. This ends the spoiler.

What a joke. Just from where did he got that kind of impression?.

It's not like that the MC is super smart and creative (all his invention is just recycled idea taken from countless already published material). The author didn't make him smart, he just make the other character dumb. It's not like the MC... more>> are superior, it's just the other character simply too weak.

Not to mention, his explanation are always so simple like "done it using magic", without actually explaining the process or what's actually happening or how something works. That statement is insult toward Tatsuya. <<less

This is one those novels that has a good idea, an interesting world, good concepts, and flushes it down the toilet.

On a scale of 1 to 10 on how passive as f*ck this MC is, hes a 10 (as in does not kill, hurt or even so much threaten the lives of bad guys, no matter what they do apparently) to a story breaking point of absurdity.

I liked it, I still like many parts of it, but honestly its horrible. I can get over the passive MC, I can get... more>> over the plot holes, hell I can even make due with the ridiculous moments of the author just shoehorning in something like "oh, and it can do this this this and that for no reason other than plot" as if the author had no other ideas as to how to go about doing whats happening in the chapter.

There is some good, even though the "magic" or "science" of the novel is bad, and kinda plot hole filled. The overall ideas and fun is worth reading. To bad everyone in this universe is your standard moron to make the MC seem smarter than they are, even the MC has points where the author make them s*upid for no reason so that another side character can have a moment...

BUT I WILL NOT TOLERATE THIS BS. slight spoilers, the MC is not only a passive person, hes so f*cking passive that when someone kidnaps one friend, beats and almost kills another, sets out to kill the kidnapped friend and plans to basically r*pe torture and so much more her, it says he gets angry, says he talks in a cold voice, says hes gana teach the guy a lesson... than not only does he say he will not kill them, he also tells the guy hes free to go but give a message to his organization... wtf, im out, this is bullsh*t beyond bullsh*t at that point. <<less

Whazza! Time for a review, although I havent finished it yet, its because I dropped this, why? Well it isnt interesting enough for me.

First of all, its an Isekai! But I dont feel any fantasy feeling from it, far from that, it feels like the MC is just a magical Make it all Inventor in a world full of noob inventors. God Jesus theres Magic Crafters EVERYWHERE yet no one has ever invented and idea to use a water pump, or wheel, or lighter? One man can make a mermaid,... more>> but no one can make a simple lighter.

Theres Romance! Is what I would say but sadly the MC is gay, YOU HAVE A BOOTIFUL DAUGHTER! Shes cute, she can protecc you, she loves you a lot but Noooo, in front of the MC, shes just a "Thing", appearantly the MC doesnt even consider her as a person, nothing more than a tool to be used, he shouldnt even call her name or call her "daughter", believe me, if youre gonna read this even for a bit, everytime the MC calls "Reiko" or "Daughter" replace it with "Tool", im 100% sure it will fit.

MC is boring af while also being uninterestingly idiotic, idiotic characters tends to be interesting and lovable, but this MC is just DUMB, hes dull and boring, so much so that if he doesnt help people on a whim, none of the girls would like him even a bit, ffs the chapter starts with him fixing the "Tool" then just left her behind and go on half a year of vacation, when she came back just looking for him after 6 months of nonstop searching, the only emotional thing that happened was him saying "Welcome back, Tool" then the story proceeds with him now having an OP Tool to use everytime he needs it.

After that he just left runnin away sayin sh*t like "dont touch em or I will kill you" leaving just like that, man this guy is whimsical AF, just doing shits he wanted, helping people on a whim, making sh*t like nobodies business.

Well enough of the rants, this is just a story about an inventor that goes travelling with his tool making stuffs on the way and then leaving without any clear reasons, thats it, 3 stars just for the Reiko being the best "Tool" there is. <<less

Another easygoing story that I love. However by intuition I can't give more than 3 stars.

First, if you think you can find your typical harem or lov-com story here, then you're in the wrong novel. Because so far he have close relationship with 9 woman but 4 them only love him as family member, 3 who only thought him as a benefactor and only 2 potential love interest with so low possibbility.

Second, this novel could become really boring at one point, especially when the protag entered Creation Mode that made... more>> him do nothing but to made this item or that item with lunch or dinner with this person or that person again and again.

Third, I really enjoy the protag's relationship with women that "quite unusual" with the other novel of the same genre. This make you really curious just when the protag's sweetheart will make her debut.

Fourth, parts that I enjoy the most is the protag's journey here and there and every time the new arc began. <<less

It is getting harder and harder to read, felt like a chore now.

It's basically a slice of life? a boring one I might add, which include crafting, and not inventing a new interesting things anyway since he basically recreate stuff that already exist from his old world to the new one with the only different is the 'magic' element here, still boring though.

Not even 1/1 Billion% as interesting nor as creative as Dr. Stone which only use old pre-modern mostly realistic crafting method.

MC is just very hard to like, a... more>> bland soulless guy who doesn't know whatever the hell he want, with zero character development thus far, I'm guessing he's gonna be like this until the end huh..

Plot is... well since the MC is basically a purposeless golem, so he's just getting dragged around by side characters [usually includes girl/girls] to create and do this and that and spread technology senselessly without consideration whatsoever. But well that's what a golem do, you tell them this, and they only comply, and that's what MC is.

And man, if you read first about reiko and thought "ohh, she call him father, and he call her daughter, he's gonna have a sincere and heartwarming familial relationship with this automata huh.."

WRONG!!

This mofo only uses her as a combat s*ave-or all purposes s*ave,

the only familial thing they have is she's calling him father and he tell her how she is his "precious daughter" every 20 chapter or so despite his way of treating her tell you otherwise.

And mind you, Reiko's character development [And Laojun] so far is the saving grace for this series, So much that They should be the MC instead.

Spoiler

"There is a kind of doll that is a stuffed animal. It will be similar to that, only you will be able to put it in different poses because of the bones."

Apparently, dolls had not reached that point in this world yet.

[collapse]

Seriously? You have golem-automata-making geniuses all around the world and no one can't make a doll that can pose?

Spoiler

He copied some of his knowledge to one of those.

"Elsa, you are able to use transfer info, right? There’s general science knowledge packed in this crystal. Read it."

[collapse]

This too, this guy basically just transfer his knowledge to another person ON A WHIM I mind you,

even though the only thing that make him 'special' IS his knowledge? like wow...

Just transfer all his knowledge to someone else and let's change the MC oh Author-san.

Spoiler

You can’t fundamentally transfer info from human to human. That is because everyone’s mana pattern in different. [Thus far the story circled within this fundamental law]

However [The-Genius-Author-san have decided, that now], it is possible to read the info in a magi crystal by transferring it to another magi crystal.

[collapse]

Nice explanation, I wouldn't surprised if someday Author-san decide to reveal "The MC is actually an Automata God" or "Everything is just a dream, and MC is actually in a coma after the accident" or something... so much inconsistency.

It's a shame I guess, I really like the setting, just give it a decent plot here and there, and give the MC a pinch of character development and i'd hook to this. The Author need to change gears or get a bunch of editors or something?

If you really incapable of developing your progressing characters then instead don't make story that depends on plot and whatnot, make something like Doraemon, or SpongeBob which have zero character development but people would still watch, though I guess it's doubtful too with Author's level of creativity.

Sorry for the mumble-jumble, guess i'll just fast-read this stuff to relieve my 'curiosity'. *sad noises* <<less

Wonderful other world story with a creative approach to world-building development, although the early chapters portray this wonderfully, the recent chapters focuses on the MC relationship with people which is not the writer's strong suit, if you're into world-building then I suggest you start from the first chapter.
