One day, I fell into the river and drowned. The God of River looked at me, and said: “You’re very brave, young one, so let me give you a mother as a reward. Would you like a golden-haired big-breasted elf mother with an extreme yandere personality, or a black-haired big-breasted sadistic human mother with a tsundere personality?” Me: “I choose… your mom, dammit! What I really want is to quickly reincarnate!!” The God of River smiled at me: “You are a honest lad indeed, so let me gift you both mothers. From now on, you will have two mothers!” Me: “Did you even listen to what I said?!”

cmon' guys. WE'RE HERE FOR GUILTY PLEASURE. Yet, you're looking for intricate lord of the mysteries type plot. What, do you look for plot while fapping to hentai?Admit it, the moment you saw this title and cl**ked it, you've been branded already as a sinner with lusty mind. Yet, what's with 1 star review and hate comment. Certainly, there're plotholes. But, momson interactions balance it nicely. Protag's weak, and there're reasons for it. Protag's an average guy, yet you expect kakashi type guy. Heh, jeers on you all

Its a good novel. The MC is still in growth phase and needs time and experience to develop. At this point the novel has became very interesting and dont mind people who have given 1 star. This novel is great and a must try.

A good novel, if you are in for the in*est you will find yourself disappointed because it won't happen anytime soon. The translator for this series works with only 3 hours of sleep a day, is a mystery how he does it, some say he is a machine or some kind of zombie, I personaly think he's the hero we need but not the one we deserve right now.

Also at volume 2 the best girl appears (Nier) so look up to it.

This Novel is honnestly very good.

While the plot is quite slow in evolving at the start, it however becomes more and more interesting.

It's also quite refreshing to see the MC struggling to solve every issues and trying to uphold some sense of honor even when he could just take the short way and cheating.

... more>> Also, all the family drama is progressively unveiling which is also very interesting.

on top of that, even tough the MC start with a weak personnality, along with the chapters progress, we can see him questionning his own personnality and his choice, becoming more mature and conscious about how the world really is. He really is maturing.

Finally, one of the best things about this novel, it's how funny some parts are. (One of my biggest laughs was around V3 chapter 18-19, when the prince is "hunting" his dinner.)

Now, about the developments a little later which are basically a big jump in quality, the MC begins to slowly scheme against his ennemies and becomes ruthless when he needs to, after losing someone he held dear and start seeking revenge. <<less

I am very much enjoying this novel- it is pretty lighthearted and easygoing, but contains more serious undertones from time to time. The interactions between the characters are pretty good, and I like how the MC is trying his best to do everything properly and by himself, without relaying on the powerful people around him. I am also very much looking forward to seeing exactly why all those women are so thirsty after the MC (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°).

This novel is a good read. The MC is weak but try to improve the things surrounding him. The characters are describe well enough to understand their positions and relationship with the MC for now at least. And volume 1 (Elf Kingdom volume) is very well received.

The problem is the 2nd volume when the prince travel to the Human Kingdom. Many people drop the Novel when at this point because

The prince is not acting like a prince, Nobody respect him, The queen is a bundle of crazy, etc...

BUT it's... more>> because they havent read enough chapters to which will explain the story and pesonalities of the Human Characters or they just dont like the way the Human Kingdom work in this Novel

People disrespect the Prince. Nope

Spoiler

The only people that actually diss the Prince are only The Valkyrie, Group of Orphan the Queen took in and cared for. So they obsess with the Queen to the level of feeling jealous of the Prince when the Queen interact with him. Other people, for example, The General and The Minister are sucking up to him like no tomorrow, as they should.

[collapse]

The Prince is not acting like a prince. Yeah

Spoiler

He was a solider at the past. He only took orders and never lead before and you expect him to change his way of thinking into an Overlord in less than 2 months ? Even in the Elf Kingdom he acted reserved and The Elves respected that of him. Now in The Human Kingdom where things changed, he will have to change too (Which is slowy being done by people surround him)

[collapse]

Queen is crazy

Spoiler

She kills people without bating an eye. Obsessive toward her son, frighteningly so. This comes from her personality from seperation from her Loved One (Husband and Son). It a Unique point in my opinion for a Mother Character to have this kind of Personality. And the thing about Killing people without care. So ? She the queen, The QUEEN OF ALL HUMAN, she can do that. Anyone who read a Chinese Novel or watch a Chinese Serie at Feudal Time will know how The Mornach can kill anyone anytime just for any reason. So The Queen action is pretty normal by Chinese Feudal standard.

[collapse]

The Human Kingdom is different than the Elf Kingdom. No sh*t it does.

Spoiler

The Elf Kingdom is a "fantasy kingdom" where people actually bond with each other and look up to the Queen and the Prince which is fine because it's a "Fantasy Kingdom" where the author can make it up and noone can do anything. The Human Kingdom on the other hand is based on real life Feudal Kingdom in the pass. So the difference are many. In Human Kingdom people will compete with each other and do stuff based on desire "like a normal Human society should". So this should actually be a plus point because it makes a contrast between the 2 Kingdom and the realism of the Human World.

[collapse]

All in all, a good story, Good characters (?) and Some funny moment. At least try to read it with an open-mind and think about the Character and their development, explanation and note of the World surrounding the MC because it will turn out that things make a lot of sense the further you read. <<less

Rated 3/5, while I enjoyed this as this doesnt require much brain power, I laughed everytime MC inner monologued about bullsh*t chinese ideology marxism and other shits. Like in one chapter, he went to visit a church and literally half of the chapter was filled with how god isnt real and just a concept made by desperate people and implicitly about how great chinese ideology is, typical chinese apologist. Mind u, MC was reincarnated by a river god that he met personally and his elf mom was a half god.

MC isn't a p**sy, he's a modern man, and what about his "mothers" ? He have a moral as a modern man that in*est is bad, but two mature women, gorgeous, voluptuous, who are related by blood only with the body he resides in, which is attracted by them by the way, it is really hard not to see them as members of the opposite s*x. And it's just one exemples of the many complains I saw, I'm actually going to sleep so if you want to complain, do it,... more>> I'm not going to point out every single logical thing.

This is a good story that's more real than other ones, and the translator gives it his all (for what I saw).

Like many have pointed out the MC stays utterly pathetic, even when he starts to get a backbone he still barely does anything. Honestly at Volume 5 I was hoping to see the MC start to come into his own, perhaps gaining some control over his mana issue or even a little bit of training but nope he still remains functionally the same as from Volume 1, just with a little less forgiveness yet still retaining his naivete.

At this point seeing no progression of the MC and the feeling its... more>> just going to be a similar plot every volume I will be dropping the novel. <<less

This a really good novel to read!

A Chinese novel that I finally am glad to read because most CN's I've read are about narrating the entire time, I'm not kidding, and I feel this is the correct way to flesh out a story! It's actually a bit on par with Jap LN's is what I feel.

Good comedy, le*ds, romance, pacing, and plot.

... more>> Why plot you ask? Because starting after vol 3, things pick up and our MC will start to have a huge change.

Why change? You'll see once you read past volume 3, everything will move from there.

I suggest you all give it a second chance and keep reading, it gets interesting at vol 3 on wards, trust me!

Spoiler

Vol 1 + 2 are just 'warm up' introductions to the 2 moms and the girls of our MC! But there'll be more to it!

Scanned through all of it up til vol 3, ch 44

MC isn't overpowered. It's more of a strategy type, and even that isn't always the focus. Of course there's also fighting but for instance it's a bodyguard or a troop with ballistae or he takes a few shots with his revolver.

Amazing. Fun, funny, and people are kinda s*upid but that's just great.

Doesn't fall into tropes meaninglessly. Totally falls into tropes intentionally. That kind of story.

This is totally a novel made by a Chinese author. Now, that might seem weird to say but typically Chinese authors (mostly martial arts web novels) tend to write that killing people is okay and nothing bad will happen because of that. However, the worst part about the killing in this novel is the fact that it feels like they are killing people for no good reason; thus reducing the amount of their kingdom population for the simple fact that you didn't like them, that's not how politics work nor... more>> how a good ruler can last long.

Spoiler

This is probably just the result of the author stating that the humans are bad people and he needs to show his readers just how bad they are. I mean if you really want to show an evil side then you would have killed someone entire family. That would be far more interesting but no, he went the lazy route for writing.

[collapse]

Number one reason why I quit reading is most of the characters feel one dimensional at times. They don't necessary feel like anyone has any common sense when it comes to talking or doing things. As a result, everyone is dumb and the main character is the only one who can solve the problems, why? Because that's what the author wants and doesn't want people to be smarter than the main character. <<less

Probably the best CN novel I have read yet. No ridiculously OP protagonist, no ridiculous story-breaking cheat skills, no continuously convenient convoluted developments that destroy every sense of competent narrative. If you're a fan of these type of novels, you will not enjoy this.

The translation by lord obsidian/wu jizun is probably one of the best I have ever read, and I'm including actual professional translations here. It's certainly one of the big atractives of the novel.

It has an actual story, with drama, character growth (even if it seems slow in... more>> the beginning), conflict (imagine that) and character development. Even the romance, if you excuse the mom's, is done in a somewhat realistic fashion (if you consider the medium and setting, at least.)

This is a slow-paced story of an ordinary chinese men of modern sensibilities thrown into an extraordinary world and situation that he doesn't understand or know how to deal with. He has his dumb and cringeworthy moments but he slowly changes and grows and there is a lot of foreshadowing of this, even if we're not quite there yet. The character interactions are also good.

The first two volumes are mainly expository volumes about the MC and his learning about the two factions of humanity and elves. The first half of the second volume is problably the weakest, especially with the sudden change in mood and setting from volume 1, but I would advise you to stick with it. The story really starts to get into it's groove at about the middle of volume 3 it seems to me, and considering it has 17 volumes (and growing) there's probably a lot of good stuff to come.

The relationship with the mother's (the main selling point in the beggining) isn't really the main focal point of the story atm, so if you come looking solely for win*est you will be dissapointed.

As another reviewer put it: came for the PLOT, stayed for the plot. <<less

A good novel but left me a bad after taste

It is unique on it's own way the characters are quite interesting, The setting is superb while the plot is a little bit shabby over all it's a good novel to read until the last chapter.

Sadly I totally against MC killing the Dark Elf girl I mean the girl is pretty much the victim although there was an attempt in his life he can only blame himself not the girl. If the girl was serious in killing him would he still be alive and kicking???

That death was like telling me to stop reading this novel

Seriously no idea what the author was thinking? The sudden turn of tragic scene?

It was like that was a freaking DARK ELF for crying out loud and the FCKING LAST OF ITS KIND! And MC FCKING KILLED IT! SUCH SIN IS UNFORGIVABLE!

If the author can KILL this kind of character I can expect the other important character will also die except for the MC (MC is invincible because of plot armor)

So why bother reading something with an obvious outcome.

Yup totally DROP this novel!

[collapse]

Sadly I will stop reading this novel for a pity reason mention in the spoiler section lol

Again good novel sadly force me to drop it <<less

His majesty the translator wanted the readers to spread the word and since I like the series + the translation why not? (1st time review though)

There's drama. There's action. There's comedy. There are yandere moms who went to war over the MC.

The series has been great so far. I'm up-to-date with the translation so who knows how it will progress form here but from what I've seen its great. It's not one of those "I'll be nice and everything works out" kind of story. Or a, "don't mess with... more>> me since I'm super strong" He's a prince so it's kind of hard/impossible not to get involved with the nation, and despite being a prince he's physically weak so he can't protect himself effectively (so-far). Despite being physically weak he's pretty smart since he attended military academy but knows not to abuse his knowledge which could trigger trouble down the line. He's also steadily growing as a person, he knows that he can't remain on the sidelines and that he needs to become a leader that won't disappoint his subject and waifus and himself.

Bonus points for being a Chinese novel but not a blood thirsty warmonger MC. (It's not Wuxia but still) <<less

Well the story starts out a bit slow but you should give it some time before judging it. MC starts out naive and weak and only has his brains to rely on. Can't spoil much so read yourself to find out

Personally I give it 4.5 stars since the author's view of women is well cliched and so wrong but if ur fine with that then it should be a great read for you

Surprisingly good webnovel. It's very original but it's not just hot, it also has good world building and character development. The main character is not op so it gives you a new perspective of how a normal person would adjust to being reincarnated in a new world. The translator is good at updating every day.

4 / 5 "stars" which means "Recommended"

I stumbled upon this series when looking for a decent read with yandere (tend to be overly attached and obsessive towards object of interest) characters. This LN is a simple and easy to read seinen series (with some R-17 scenes which is a bonus point for me) and, more importantly, I found lovely yandere char in this story ("yan" lit: mad/insane/obsessive character) though only a single char so far, yet she is more than enough to quench my "thirst" on Yan char.

In this... more>> Isekai (lit: stories on another world/universe which is different than the MC's original universe) series, the MC becomes (well, MC's soul technically incarnates into) a son of two female rulers (a queen and an empress) of two different nations (there's a little background as to why MC simultaneously becomes a son from those two mothers). Our MC has the "knowledge" of his "previous" life (before he incarnates into the new person), but he doesn't obtain the previous body-owner's memories. Both mothers (the female rulers of each country) are having a complex over their son (our MC) and are willing to sacrifice anything else just to obtain their son's love and attention. Due to his mothers' extreme and over-the-top behaviors (especially towards their son), our MC has to juggle himself and act as the main prize of the two mothers' "tug-of-war" while striving to be a leader or ruler loved by those who are dear to him, for instance: his vassals in both countries (as he is a prince in both sides). Moving slightly deeper on the castings. Our MC isn't armed with some super OP super intelligent character, in other words there is no "cheats" which is a common and recurring matter in any generic Isekai series (however, MC retains all his previous life's knowledges including his expertise in firearm). Then there are the two mothers, one is an extreme yandere while the other one is more of a tsundere character (one who acts harsh and cruel on the outside but actually caring and clingy to her object of interest, in other words unable to convey her real inner-feelings). There are also two heroines beside the mothers, but I suggest you to read and find out yourself regarding these two girls to avoid further spoilers. I'd recommend it as a light reading which is also written quite neatly with awesomeness and quite decent story plots (with several sprinkles of "R-17 plots"). As stated by other reviewers, do give this series a go, its pretty great! The text translation is good, its easy to understand, and the most amazing thing is the translator's commitment to deliver the contents on a quite frequent basis! He (the translator) is also helpful and responsive plus also encouraging the visitors to give advise, critique and even corrections from the readers. Such a kind fellow to have as a TL! <<less
