Seventeen-year-old Hajime Nagumo is your average, everyday otaku. However, his simple life of pulling all-nighters and sleeping in school is suddenly turned upside down when he, along with the rest of his class, is summoned to a fantasy world!

They’re treated like heroes and tasked with the duty of saving the human race from utter extinction.

But what should have been any otaku’s wet dream quickly turns into Hajime’s nightmare? While the rest of his class are blessed with godlike powers, Hajime’s job, Synergist, only has a single transmutation skill. Ridiculed and bullied by his classmates for being weak, he soon finds himself in despair.

Will he be able to survive in this dangerous world of monsters and demons with only a glorified blacksmith’s level of strength?

It's a very interesting story at the first hundred chapter, but I don't know why I feel this LN is really down in quality unlike when I read it for the first time. I really want to give 4-5 stars but sorry I can't, it's getting really boring with a boring plot and story line.

And I can't help but to feel author just want to show his anger trough this LN, because we can see MC is a madman on another level, even sometimes I don't get why MC can't... more>> change his personalities even for a little bit even after he had his revenge on his classmates who shoot him. He like lunatics who beyond comprehension. <<less

After reading 100 chapters, the one thing on my mind, is he tapping that vampire or are they just cuddling? I keep thinking about it. I mean, are they doing it out in the open? That part about the sea, did they just do it? In the dungeon, did they just do it? These questions are floating in my mind, I just can't come to an conclusion. I mean, seriously? I want to know if he is deviating from the standard indecisive-non-indulgent-JP-MC or if he is tapping that vampire. The... more>> questions are asked, but the answers are read between the lines with ambiguous words that could mean both. Truly a mysterium to consider. <<less

It has been a while since I read this, 220 is about where the translation was at. In all honesty, this was my favorite novel for a point in time, in the arc that chapter 220 is part of, the entire story really took a turn for the worse. I just couldn't keep on reading because it got too cringey. The author did very well in the first hundred chapters or so, but it keeps getting worse and worse, to the point that at the end he tries to make... more>> a two-three paragraph speech that's essentially "we can do it" but in crappy wording, badass. It just stopped working for me completely after that speech, so I decided to take a break from reading it, and still haven't wanted to come back to it. The first hundred chapters or so I'd have to give 4 stars, but once the entire story is factored in I can't give it more than 3. <<less

Didn't add this to my reading list for a while but I've read just about the entire novel, including the LN up to it's most recent translated chapter.

First off I'm going to do a little bit of defending this novel. This novel has a pretty solid start. It's not "omg amazing must read" but it is certainly a far cry better than some other novels. The characters are also rather well developed. "omg the MC is a mary sue ass hole with no depth." Stop right there. You're wrong. Thank... more>> you. -- The main character is a adolescent teen. Yes there are some things that will cause you to raise an eyebrow, especially his knowledge of some things,

such as his railgun,

but his personality and character grow as the story progresses. Yes, after the first volume the quality of the series certainly tanks pretty rapidly. But it's not so bad that it's deserving of all the harsh criticism. Some of the characters might rub you the wrong way, but if you're just reading it at surface value : that's all you're going to get. Surface value.

In retrospect, a lot of things do not make sense. Not in the slightest. The progression of the story. The events and how they occur and finish. There is a lot of this that will leave you with a slight bit of... 'what the f***'.

Even further down the line, it leaves you to question so many things. Such as
Spoiler

how the bloody hell everyone in the class are still s*upid weak? Or how about how the demons are incredibly powerful? What about some of the other important character (s) that are assisting the humans that are so inhumanely powerful that it begs the question of why the hell they're trying to utilize the class of 'heroes'.

[collapse]
Going further down the line you really begin realize how worthless everyone else is with the exception of our MC and his harem and/or collaborators. But if you're reading this story for the entire class, then you are reading the wrong story. This is about the MC and his harem.

tl;dr - This series is Average. If you read it at face value, shame on you for leaving an in depth review if that's the case, it's below average. But all in all I wouldn't say it's bad. Read it for the MC and his harem, it's their story -- not the class and side characters. <<less

After a decent first volume (though not that as great as some people describe it to be) the author seems to keep trying to be funny and to lighten the mood. Well, it's not funny, inconsistent, and you rarely see what you really want to see (I'm still waiting for the moment he meets his former classmates).

Still, I keep reading it, so I guess it's not a bad novel either, I have a mixed feeling about it.

So to be fair I was just surfing novel updates when I found this novel. Which means I did not have expectations of it from it's tags because to be honest I rarely read the tags. Which means yes I don't mind the change of pace. To me this novel is like a slightly and I do mean slightly darker shinka no mi. It has a much darker beginning, but on a who;e would probably appeal to fans of that novel more. There are really two main problems that I... more>> noticed, the first being it's absolute terrible marketing that made it seem like a story for the wrong audience, hence all the dislike from other reviewers. The problem I have with the story is of course pacing. It's a valid complaint that the only reason he travels is literally because the dungeons don't always let out next to eac other. And yes his moterbike is more dues ex machina than needs be. That said his gun does make sense looking at his past in japan. Overall tags are misleading, it's more lighthearted than it seems. Good read for laughs, after first volume. <<less

It was a good read the only complain I have on this novel is the harem got too force which is hard to believe that the MC will allow it.

I can accept that MC mellow down since he has a cute and loving heroine who will not mellow down? But still next girls is hard to swallow.

I will not talk on his equipment since this is a heavy fantasy I will let it slide even he has a proton cannon lol.

A lot of people rage on this novel for not being a hardcore revenge plot and instead diverging into a generic Japanese harem story later on. While that is somewhat true, I think the MC remains true to his 'ruthless' nature and the story still remains very balanced (not too much cutesy lucky pe*vert stuff). At least for me, this has remained a thoroughly enjoyable novel, and I'm super glad someone decided to pick up translations again.

Story actually starts off really well, goes downhill around chapter 70-80. Had really high hopes for this novel, read as far as translations let me, but there were a lot of parts where I felt like I could have just scrolled to the bottom and absolutely nothing happens towards the storyline, plot, character development, relationships with characters. It felt like the author was being paid by the word. Kind of like the many XianXias/xuanhuans I read where they go into so much detail into one thing but that thing described... more>> gets forgotten in text.

2.5/5 was a good read in the beginning, I'm continuing to find out what happens in the story.

I would recommend this novel if I only read a part of what's translated, now I would say to give it a gander if you fancy the genre. <<less

Plenty others already stated this but I will too, in case you didn't notice already.

The starting is really good With the MC understanding humans are worthless and with his personality change, but it seems somewhere down the line that whole personality change to a ruthless killer amounts to nothing other than a tsundere *sigh, way to waste good potential*

Spoiler

It'll be fine if you just read to the point where they exit from the dungeon / go to the last floor of the dungeon. Convince yourself that they return home. End of story.

Would have given it a 4 of 5 but because it ruined the story later on, 3 of 5 <<less

Rated poor because of 2 factors. The story is ok-ish at the start. The MC turned into an idiot after gaining power. Also, the available translation is barely legible... Dropped it at volume 3-ish. If the translation of 4 onwards gets better, please tell me and I might re-review it again.

You could have been the chosen one, but you turned to the dark side after the first arc. Why did you stray from your path!

First volume: great read
The rest: Royal turd of cliche harem fantasy fulfillment
