The plot is SLOW...

I was halfway through the third chapter of pretty much nothing happening and then I stopped reading and realized I have other faster paced novels I could read than to test my patience against this novel.

Let me tell you, the whole of the first chapter is about MC's life before he died and got reincarnated, BUT, it is mostly filler i.e. pretty much NO character development about the MC happens, So even skipping the whole of first chapter entirely is acceptable.

The chapter length being long is usually... more>> a thing I like but not in a case where basically nothing happens, saying this reminds me of a few chapters of ATG *also dropped/on hold* where literally all that happens in a chapter is - "MC meets long lost person, they stare each other in the eyes while random crowd reacts". I am seriously AMAZED at the ability of the author who can drag such a meaningless topic for so long.

It's not like I have no hopes for this, I'm just putting this on hold till something grand actually happens for once, by no means a bad novel, just excessively long. <<less

It's slow. It feels generic. Characters aren't that great and nobody seems to question how this 1 year old can do things some teens can't even do. There's also a lot of info-dumps that could be much shorter.

Regardless, I'm enjoying it. Maybe I'm just a sucker for this genre but I find it to be nice. I like reading it.

It was a marathon.

I'm even tired for a deep review, so I'll make it short.

This novel has a snail pace (volume 1 was somewhat ok, volume 2 not ok, it was very very slow, vol 3 don't know much but it seems many things happened there), so if you hate slow stories or info dumps just dont read it, if you do you will only get pissed and add a bad scire to lower the current rating even more. So, if you got no problem with this, you might like... more>> the story. Since there are no contradictions in it and flow of the story is logical (there are exceptions ofc).

I hesitated between 3 and 4 stars, I thought 3 stars is ok since it was frustrating in some parts (like when he lost his v**ginity, the romance, death of a subordinate), also there is a bit of blandness, but why I gave it 4 instead, just like I said there are no major contradictions or illogical settings and it was enjoyable nonetheless even though a bit tiring (for me personally)

Edit: 3 stars, the spoilers got some ret*rded development <<less

Love the novel and the explanations used. The opening chapters are a bit annoying due to him acting like a toddler, but it is explained. That doesn't make it less annoying but it does ease the pain of it. The explanations are well done and as a person who theorizes about novels I read, I enjoy them. It may be a bit slow, but trying out the first few chapters up to 7 or so lets you know about the style of the characters and writing. If you aren't interested... more>> after that, I would recommend stopping for another novel unless you want to. After all, I can't stop you. Arrivederci! <<less

The novel it´s almost a masterpiece, the "world" and the overall plot are amazing, the thing that ruins it, is the MC and all the plot devices around him, that make everyone around him suck so he can shine, first, everything is too convenient to the main character, he was the only one reincarnated with two cheats (ok, because he saved a kid, only him had ways to help someone on the crash?), then to make worse, BOTH his cheats are strong and overpowered, most people got useless or situational ones, he got two overpowered useful cheats (analisis of stuff, see other people character sheet and enhanced xp gain), then after all that unfair advantages, he is born a noble (since he can´t even have to struggle being a s*ave or with poverty), has a nice family, and all, everything convenient, then to make things worse, the guy has photographic memory, he remember everything he learned of chemistry and science from school and college, and techniques from his time at SDF, he for some reason know all components of weapons (and have them memorized), he is good at everything, only the main character out of 49 people reincarnated learned the "exploits" of the system (the mana thing, and was a easy thing to figure out, more than half of the reincarnated ones should have it), he too was the only one able to apply modern knowledge, out of 49 people everyone was s*upid and in the end, everyone he recruits has skills that benefit him to become more OP (like the map girl and the guy that help him manufacture guns with no need of precision tools). The antagonists are obviously underpowered compared to him, even the strongest ones would be curbstomped by him easy, so there´s no tension, there´s really no challenge for the MC, he will always win, easy, being better than everyone at everything.

I was really into this until I was catching up to the latest translation. I skipped a lot of chapters as they bored me, too much detail and it got to the point that it annoyed me. I still enjoyed reading this but I'll won't probably read this again. If you got free time, then try reading this.

1st Review by this acct.

i felt like I should grant the first ever review I made to this novel.
1st chapter

is like !!!! BAMM!!! This writer targets NOT the reader of Instant adrenaline adventure novel. The style is slow world building that it lures you to be as close as possible to what psychology of the MC is.

It does not give you a sense of novel from those "New York best selling Novel", and it hits me like a nostalgia bullet. I have long since abandon reading those long intro novel by NY novelist. As as reader of many literature, it just give me a sweet taste of how the author would like to build a world so familiar to his life similar to how familiar he is to the back of his hands.

well storywise it is slow and I like it. It suits my taste. Like how you carefully pick a 1 puzzle piece for thousand other pieces.
Character wise. This is mature. This is not naruto or luffy sense of justice. MC is simply an adult. If you don't get what I mean, let the years pass and age enough that you will know what being adult really means. He knew that there are things that he just needs to simply accept like being a escape goat of the Defence Force, and he have no hard feelings, that's almost like how some adult cope with reality, simply accepts the twisted world.
_end_
I ll be reading this and update my review. I case someone stumble and read this.

Start slow, but awsome developpment. I loved this novel. I was a annoyed at how the MC is so japanese - always so correct, so polite, so restrained, how he thinks so highly of people privacy that he abstains from asking crucial things. But that's something I find in every japanese novel.

An Isekai for people who like to get into details. The chapters are rather long (about 30 min, most Isekai's are about 10 to 20 min per chapter) so there's quite a bit of exposition and detailed descriptions of things, but not to the point where it gets too overwhelming. The world is reasonably vast, the characters have proper personalities and aspirations. The story uses D&D for monsters and magic, so it's pretty complex and diversified.

The story follows a 45-year-old sales manager who dies in a train accident and reincarnates along with fellow passengers spread out throughout a classical isekai world of Orth, with past life memories and a couple of extra cheat skill (each reincarnated person got a random one, but the MC saved a kid during the crash, so he got a second one as a bonus). We watch him grow up as a second son of a landed knight (1st volume) and then follow him on his quest to delve into the nearby dungeon (2nd volume) and gather enough riches to create his own country (3rd volume), while at the same time gathering allies mostly consisting of other reincarnated people he met during his travels.

[collapse]

The MC is quite intelligent. He always things things through and plans ahead a lot. As a former JSDF officer he has the knowledge to recreate modern world technology while also having enough reserve to not reveal too much of what he knows too fast. The main story is quite light-hearted, the first volume gives you enough time to get to know and get attached to his family members while the second one keeps introducing new allies while not getting rid of the former ones (family members visit from time to time). If you're looking for a good dungeon crawling novel, with more depth, than something like "S*ave Harem in the Labyrinth of the Other World", then it should be right up your alley. Volume 3 supposedly introduce some kingdom building elements as well.

That's not to say that there are no grim moments, but most of them happen outside of the main story. Each reincarnated person gets a side story and a couple of them end up pretty gruesome (middle ages, high infant mortality rate plus monsters, you can imagine the rest). Most tell the stories of people who end up at the MC's side or

gather under a guy who reincarnates as the heir to the neighbouring kingdom (possible future allies or foes).

Overall it's a good read that will keep you entertained for many many hours to come. <<less

I like the story, but it gets overly detailed on the particulars of what the MC is doing. This is not necessarily bad, but it becomes a problem when there are holes in those details.

Spoiler

If you were to go into the past right now, could you immediately utilize modern agriculture techniques to improve how farming is done? Could you make a pair of shoes that doesn't fall apart or cause injury to your feet? Could you make a gun?

Coming from a modern world, the MC has many modern concepts in his head, I understand. But a few years in the military + university level education does not result in several lifetimes of specialized knowledge and skill sets that include engineering, chemistry, machining, cobbling, and a dozen other professions being put into your brain.

Also, rubber body armor 1 CM thick would be extremely heavy. Please consider the weight vs actual protection value. Mail armor is ancient era tech, and should be readily available at 'relatively' low cost in the era the story takes place. Pound for pound, I can't see any way in which rubber would perform better than steel of equal weight, be it vulcanized or not.

The story can have huge info dumps and gets slow sometimes but in general it is quite good in my opinion.

The story starts out mediocre when he was still young/small. The quality picks up after he left home. The side stories also provide more information on other characters that get reincarnated, even those that won't appear in the main story. That provides more background insight to what happens to various incidents rather than those incidents being just an excuse for the current development.

Info dumps - I don't like them too... more>> but I found out that skimming (to make sure I don't miss anything important) through or skipping them don't affect the story much. Just do that if you couldn't endure it. <<less

This novel has ALOT of information dumps. It's a good thing in regards to that as you understand how the world works. How simple things are incredibly hard to make. What drove me away was starting in ch 31.. The MC started to make guns or at least attempt to think about guns. God damn it. The MC has like 6k mana, why is he making guns? I googled future chapters and guns are prevalent. I dont understand why this is necessary. Is it because he was from JSDF? But... more>> this ultimately turned me down... And I do not wish to continue.

wallshade88- I just wanted to respond to this.. because I fortunately know the reason why Myun feels grateful.

Spoiler

If you remember she was an assassin/s*ave sent by a kingdom (forgot already). When she pretended to be from xx village she was adopted by some noble in MC's kingdom. She then proceeded to become a maid for MC's family. She is grateful that she lived a peaceful life without danger and war. THAT is what she's grateful TO the family of MC. However, she was later FOUND OUT that she was a spy by MC. MC decided that he wouldnt kill her, and instead continue the relationship while protecting her. I have not read what he did later on but I can only assume that he finished his plan of faking her death. This in turn allows Myun to continue to enjoy her peaceful life and not go back to being an assassin. THAT is what she is thankful for.

it is just a journal of Marketing Manager of Greed Company that aims to become a Founder or CEO of a Company (King)

Romance ? To long to happen boi. I think we can erase romance tag frome this series.

not bad but the story so slow and full of explanation. You can wrap 4 paragraph into 1 point of explanation. Full of commercial idea of a merchant. Battlewise its not to much battle just dungeon and criminal act.

the jokes mainly on the deal he got and what he make using... more>> his own knowledge of other world. When the action start autho make it so fast to done and we get the daily life again <<less

Must Read! This novel is about a kid. he slowly becomes op and wanted to become a king, after he tried to conquer a dungeon and realized he could do it but didn't want to conquer it solo cuz his f*cking lonely and so he formed a team and he is the leader of that team then when he and his team manage to clear 7 floor and was going to 8 floor he heard rumors about another team trying to go in 6 floor and then so he got scared they might get over taken and so he says to his team to kick him out in the group who is the leader and spread it to other team so that he would get recruited btw to get to every floor it would take 3-5 years to conquer it but he managed to go go 8 floor in just 2 years and so he got in to this other team that was aiming to go in 6 floor..

Wasted so many chapter in arc... After he entered he was used by this useless team to clear the 6 and 7 floor and then got abused telling him why did he not heal them faster or help faster when they where in danger btw he was fighting 7 ogers while his 9 team members were fighting 2 ogers but still lose and complain to him why he was slow and so he apologize every time then get abused again at the end of this story he came back to his old team and let the 9 usless other team members that was useless join in his team... The end they live happily ever after if gets abuse he begged for mercy even when his stronger.. His so damn clever and then even let the 9 usless members join in his team btw the only reason this useless team manage to go to 5 floor and was trying to go aim 6 floor was cuz they got this very expensive charm that lets them heal strongly and this charm can only be bought 10 - 20 yrs so if u get heavily injured u need to go to town and request to a royal sorcerer to heal them and that sorcerer can only use it 1 time a day so when the useless team discovered that the old team of the MC has a healer that can use this healing spell for more than 7 times a day they joined the MC old team to get dree heal cuz its free and the MC lets them.. dam the MC is so clever!!!

Personally, I have mixed feelings about this series. I liked the whole idea of wanting to become king, he's OP, the first characters have their side-character feel about them.
Spoiler

When it came to the part where he journeyed on, the other reincarnators he met is too.. Vague? Specially that part where the boyfriend of the bunny race reincarnator reunited with each other, wtf was that? It happened so fast such things as acceptance to the group. They even f*cked not minding that their hired and what if feelings of each other are not that deep. When the dark elf ninja came, my personal opinion. Wtf?! She sold herself to other guys for information and for her mission. I know they're old enough, but atleast save yourself for the one you love. How the demi-god wife also viewed memories causing them to forget shit.

All in all, I really have mixed feelings. I liked how it is long and slow with the age progression and stuff but it lacks something that interests me to make me read it wholeheartedly.

The actual translator is very fast and his translation is not bad at all either. This is a great point for someone who want to follow a novel. The novel, thought was very lacking of challanges and mysteries, was not bad at all, the comedy wasn't bad either. Its a decent story with potential, tbh Volume 1 is a bit of a drag. The typical reincarnation troupes are there, which is fine... what do you expect right? But the problem lies in the info dumps, and its not only the infor dumps on world exposition - its the info dumps on the tech and the way to use them from the mc's knowledge. Most of the chapters are spent on his narration on mundane things like rubber which becomes tedious. It's as if the author believes that his... more>> audience will reincarnate and this info will be important for the readers. It felt like every chapter was stuck on one topic and the author rehashes over and over with examples and comparisons. We get it a+b=c, no need to nag.

The flaw which is prevalent in Vol 1, unfortunately it is also prevalent in Vol 2 which is about 50 chapters after. However it is not as strong as it is in Vol 1, if you can get through the info dumps its actually a good story. And the driving force for most of it imo is the MC and the overall premise.

The MC unlike other reincarnated person actually acts like an adult, well unless he has to pretend to be a child/his child like emotions overwhelms him (read the story). Its also not so obvious, if you binge read it like me you might feel it overall in the story but it doesn't smack you in the face. His maturity and his in depth thinking makes me feel like im actually reading about a 40 year in a body of a teen.

The second thing is the hint of a clash between reincarnated people. Although I'm sure this was used before like Tensei Slime, but here it is more realistic. As in less magical bs and more on the fact if people do reincarnate with modern knowledge how will that affect the world and themselves. What will they do, how ill they interact, and the changes (good/bad) it will bring forth because of their knowledge.

This is pretty much where I'm at, and is these few chapters I started to really feel like it will pick up and go to a more interesting direction. I was going to drop it, and I did for awhile but picking it up again I felt like maybe there is potential. Give it a shot if you have nothing else to read, it takes a bit getting used to but from what I read from reviews some people just skim over the info dumps so thats ok too. <<less

The story is kinda good and somewhat well thought out. The biggest issue if the series is:

TOO MUCH INFO DUMPS, I get the author wants a good world building but the issue is IT'S A DAMN ISEKAI WITH THE SAME GENERIC WORLD. I would accept if this was a really old series when isekais weren't known, but it's from 2014 when series like Arifureta were at peak and isekai was trending.

Anyway with all the info, monologues and details it becomes a tedious read despite the above average content. The content... more>> is good but not good enough to outdo the walls of unnecessary text.

And as far as isekais go this one is pretty realistic. <<less

Man, first of all I want to say to all the readers to keep patience until the start of adventure arc where I think the story finally took off. It may be boring in the starting but have patience and read adventure arc. Okay, first of all not like typical jp novels. The novel has tons of world building info and at certain times they will be useful but most of the time you can just skim through and all those chemical stuff you can also skim through. The other... more>> reincarnated people have also proper stories and depth and they have also goals and also native people are not cardboard. You can feel that they have emotions. I think novel is finally taking off with the war arc and territory building but sadly the chapters are not translated if you really liked the novel you can read mtl or google translated. There are certain times where you may find it boring but at adventure arc you can also get the logic behind the novel and also the secrets of reincarnation so have patience and also the reasoning behind reincarnation does make sense also I hope Kuhaku light novel translations to please continue translating because it's a good novel and the chapters are collected so you can harvest them. Please I beg translater-san to continue translating the chaptes. Please readers have patience and read it till 150~200 then u can left the novel. <<less
