Junpei Takeda, a high school student, is childhood friends with Noriko Tatsumiya and is bullied by Kido Shouta. One day, while bullying Junpei, they (Junpei, Tatsumiya, & Shouta) were suddenly summoned to a different world by the whim of “God”. Summoned Heroes with cheats, or so he thought. But it turns out Junpei’s stats were even worse than an average farmer. Tricked into a deathly labyrinth by the only one he trust, he walks the journey for revenge.

The main character is an idiot who plays at being smart. The reasoning he gives for how he does make a semblance of sense, but half the time it's literally just plot armor or dumb luck.

The characters speak in stanza and constantly leave out critical information, and constantly skips unknown periods of time to give opportunities to explain later plot armor away, it becomes pretty predictable and annoying.

While I will admit that I am not particularly far into the work itself I have several things of note to share.

Firstly: this is a rather dark work in comparison to other Isekia stuff. But in a lot of ways that is good. Realism goes hand in hand with gritty and unpolished. Darkness is the shade cast by light, one without the other is a flat one-dimensional world full of flat one-dimensional characters. As long as there is light somewhere, a moment of joy or accomplishment, this work will never... more>> be depressing or a bog to read through.

Secondly: While I am just out of the initial setup chapters, the dungeon the MC is in is essentially meaning that the world-building is always going to be just a little disappointing for one reason or another. So while it is definitely not terrible, don't go holding your breath

Thirdly (and why I am going to stop reading) : the translation quality to English is poor. While everything is technically correct, the tone of the author is broken. And when translating a work if some kind of tone cannot be constructed, whether a faithful copy or an artificially induced amalgamation, the reader is lost to the emotional undertones of the story. I can follow along on the technicalities of what is happening, but add in the odd language use, the cultural references I don't understand, and the work of having to paste it all together in my brain, whilst reading, to make a sort-of entertaining story is too much to ask.

Overall: A decent story, nothing groundbreaking.... if read in its original form. <<less

A world where every character is so heinous and cruel that you wish it would start raining gasoline. The MC is the only sort of decent character, and he's screwed because he commits a single self-sacrificing action.

You will find this novel hard to read because of the cruelty in nearly every chapter. Additionally, the story starts off as an ass-pull, but stabalizes once the writer figures out what they want to do.

If you like dark fantasy and an MC that is for the most part someone walking deeper and deeper into the rabbit hole.

Then this is most likely something for you.

The plot has a dark tone and is overall a good read.

Beware though that the plot holes, flawed logic and parts where the author flatout ignores the settings that had been put down, are extremly frequent and to some would ruin the reading so if you can ignore those parts then go for it!

Okay, many mystery novels thrive over having authors that although they already know all there is to know, successfully manage to keep it hidden at plain sight, they always give you just enough for you to feel like you have the answer at the tip of your tongue and yet something is still missing, keeping you reading more and more, and in time the author will eventually flip things to an unexpected direction, or give you a sense that he/she will do that and actually give you the result you... more>> were thinking about but gave up after thinking the author would change it or they just actually go with what you were thinking all along.

You might be thinking "Well what has that got to to with this story?", well it has to do with everything, because from the moment the author decided to hide things about the truth and about the story, it automatically gains the mystery genre.

And to be blunt it it an astronomically bad mystery novel...

The story has many secrets and many things that you wonder about, but the author never makes a single effort to give hints or clues, and when he does they are as ambiguous as can be. The episodic nature also works as a step in the wrong direction, as every single chapter you are left wondering if the past chapter really happened before this one unless stated otherwise, making the establishing of connections all the more confusing.

The worst of all though is that the author neglects this mystery of the story until it becomes convenient for him, you could be given a hint that something exists at the beginning of a volume and never see it again until the end of the same volume and even then, it doesn't become clearer, no it becomes even more and more muddled in confusion.

And what happens when a story suffers from this, well the mysteries keep accumulating and accumulating... until it starts to become hair-ripping annoying, more and more unknowns are added to the equation and not a single one of them are made clearer, the author tries to supplant this by moving them to the side line by using dumb cliches, ex: making the MC forget about something, writing extremely vaguely, conveniently revealing extreme power ups just in the nick of time, making the MC suffer for no reason at all, and making him really smart at times, and really dumb at others.

This all gives the MC the classic plot armor, which is bad in a story where gore and death are right around the corner, and where you need to feel a connection to the MC, not feel as if you never what the hell is happening, especially to me, who likes to think about stories and connect the dots, but when there is not a single dot to connect, and everything lives and dies, even the mystery, by the authors will it just gives you a feeling on anger and annoyance.

All in all, I liked the beginning, the author messed it up by adding s*upidly written mysterious thingy majigies, and by now I feel like drowning myself in my bathtub from anger at how dumb and unconnected the story feels.

Welp quite interesting novel though a bit too violent to my taste as it seems to be written by some edgy teen but I guess it can pass as some time killer... I only read when I've got nothing else to do and I'm seriously getting bored

Ps: Thank God there is that comic relief ojisan as otherwise it would have become unreadable
