The whole angel thing really drags down every part of the story. Author should have focused more on developing the main character and the story, and not so much on writing unintelligent angel filler commentary.

Maybe it works in the original language, I don't know, but it really doesn't work in the translation.

The novel is good at the beginning, but for me it was a let down.

SPOILER:

the things that make it a let down is that the protagonist is OP but s*upid in terms of combat.. in one of the chapters he fight with a leopard and rather than killing it with one blow in the head, he choose to aim the blow to one of the leopards eye and that cause it not killing it instantly when he could've just do it.. I mean he could literally run for 60km/h and... more>> he also had damage bonuses when he was in Stealth not to mention another crit bonuses also his weapon attack damage is like 1k damage.. he basically could become a one shot one kill Stealth ballistic missile and be done with it.. like seriously...

PS: There is a touching moment between MC and his mom and I very much like it.. because it something sweet

I apologize if my English is a mess <<less

I spent 6 days in a row reading and I enjoyed it alot. I had hoped for a better romance than this though.

Spoiler

The romance was really late in the story and was like 2-4 chapters long excluding the onesided love, jealousy, and epilogue/extras. It also waited until the epilogue for the other girls feelings to get accepted. Marriage even happened after the epilogue.

[collapse]

There were a few plot holes I ended up seeing to.

Spoiler

Why was Na YuNa sought by the higher existences if all of them already had a love interest, or wanted complete destruction? Though maybe it was carried out by the officers, low ranks of the factions, or a matter of pride.

Another one is the cross bag which had effects added to it even though you shouldn't be able to tinker it. It might be counted as an item rather than an artifact though.

Last one is heavens rewards. How did they give stat points to people and how did they give skills? Shouldn't they improve themselves if they can gift him stuff? Maybe it was a matter of the difference in league or they had in their treasury or something.

I'm probably complaining too much for a comedy but I tried to make sense of it

[collapse]

Now about the stuff I liked. I like the progression of it where the MC would constantly surpass himself, and the reactions from the others when he did.

Spoiler

I like the fact that nothing useless was put in (for example the first 5th class fight was shown the rest were not. I like the comedy of it I didn't burst out laughing but I smiled and thought that was pretty good. I love the crafting especially when he made something a tier up.

I like the fact that he slowly went from a lonely man on earth to gaining followers to leading a faction as god. Each of his followers were loyal and were mostly different from eachother in personality.I like the fact that the MC was not trusting, and was merciless against most of his enemies. His will was strong against dead souls in him, living for 1000 years without losing his mind, and etc.

I enjoyed watching the evolution of the MC from human to god. I do wish though the final fight was better. It ended quick and his followers that he armed were pointless. Maybe the point was just that he surpassed god and that since he was god he didn't have to put much effort.

Also really glad because of the training long time type time skips (1000 years, or in a dungeon).

[collapse]

I'll probably read it again in the future and hopefully I won't read it 6 days in a row again. <<less

re-reading for the 5th time. decided to look at the reviews and see mostly low ratings. I guess its just a matter of preference. but the fact that I can re read the whole story that many times shows that its definitely on the good side of the scale. though for ppl that feel like they need 'something' to critique for a story ive found the only plot hole in the story. ch 78 ertas talkin to MC about how you cant just keep enchanting on multiple enchantments onto an... more>> equipment.... so whats the deal with the crossbag then? never explained. pretty much the only plot whole in the whole novel. <<less

While it is a power fantasy, it's also pretty fun and the world is interesting. About my only complaint is towards the end.
Spoiler

All the planets merging into one mega planet made zero sense to me.

Otherwise it's great. Yes it is a harem, but honestly it's not as bad as most of them out there and it's a very slow building one not a I WANT TO BEAR YOUR CHILDREN BECAUSE YOU WERE SORT OF KIND OF NICE TO ME ONCE sort of thing.

Well, for me this novel is perfect. I am thankful that I did not read any of the reviews since I would not discover this gem if that happened (maybe it's a matter of preferences, but I enjoyed it despite the MC being so OP and entertaining at the same time). Anyway, have a fun read!

The story is quite good actually but that only start after a while, maybe at the point after the thousand year being left alone or maybe some other time later on. I can't remember clearly

At the start of this story, everything feel really bland and useless simply saying it was boring at the start

This is a dumb yet immensely enjoyable series.

The premise is as follows: Yu IlHan, a Korean university student, gets left behind when everyone else gets "raptured" into different worlds. To make up to him, Heaven (or rather, an organization of transcendent beings calling themselves Heaven's Army) dispatches an angel to help him out. As she explains, there are countless worlds in the multiverse that "level up" by going through cataclysms. During a cataclysm, native animals mutate into monsters, people get to use mana, and they also get access to the... more>> Akashic Records, manifesting in RPG style status panels, jobs and skills. Since Earth was about to go through its first cataclysm, the God of Heaven's Army transports humans onto other worlds for 10 years to learn how to use mana, but since the protagonist is left behind, he decides to learn martial arts and train in his own way until humanity returns. Unfortunately, because of a strange case of time-dilatation that no one can explain, the 10 years turn into 1000, during which the protagonist keeps compulsively learning martial arts, crafting, dismantling and everything else he can in order to keep his sanity, so when humanity finally returns, he starts out with a ridiculous stat- and skill-advantage that just gets more and more insane as the story goes on.

Now then, what is the main draw of this work?

Is it the plot? No, not really. There isn't much of a plot to speak of, to be honest. Instead the story proceeds through separate arcs, with a cold war between the transcendent beings serving as a loose thread that connects all the crazy events the protagonist gets involved in.

Is it the characters? No, not really. The protagonist is not particularly well-written (he is over 1000 years old, yet he still acts like a teenager and he is so dense that he is unable to even recognize that multiple women are pursuing him, even though he knew one of them for the aforementioned 1000 years, aware of the second being a tsundere, and the third going through the entire gamut of awkward novel romance tropes even though he uses the same tropes to "predict the future" all the time). The side-characters are also lukewarm at most. We have the lovestruck angel who is signaling harder than an air-control tower yet gets ignored all the time, the tsundere angel who usually serves as the straight-woman complaining about the protagonist's weirdness, the super-beautiful and super-talented human girl (who was supposed to be the main love-interest, but got overtaken by the popularity of the angels) and... honestly, that's about it. There are a couple of other characters, but they are mostly just simple ones with one or two traits who only exist to pad out the cast.

Is it the writing? No, not really. The comedy is very peculiar and full of random fourth-wall breaking meta-humor (such as the angels reading the protagonist's thoughts by reading the actual lines, or him predicting the future by pinpointing foreshadowings, such as that him gaining a spear that is designed against dragons meaning he would have to soon fight one), and at best I would say it is tolerable. At least I have never found myself smiling, let alone laughing. The character-interactions are also mostly subordinated to the classic tsukkomi-routine, and the entire works becomes fairly repetitive in this regard from very early on.

Is it the fight-scenes? Well, sorta, but not quite. The combat is definitely not bad, but not in a "sitting-on-the-edge-of-your-seat", "you-are-worried-for-the-survivial-of-the-characters" kind of way. In fact, most of the enjoyment in the fight scenes comes from the creative ways the protagonist combines various powers and artifacts for insane results, such as using a magical bag-of-holding, jumping high into the air with a skill, using an atlatl to fire his spear at a dragon below, transfer the weight of his bag onto the spear with a skill mid-flight, hit the dragon, then recall the spear with a different skill, transfer the weight to his boots instead, stomp on the dragon on landing, and then stab it again with the freshly retrieved spear. And with that we actually reached the actual reason I liked reading this work:

The power-up cycle. In fact, you might as well call this "Power-up-cycle, the story." Each arc works like this: Protagonist gets a lot of materials -> He uses his amazing crafting skills to make/upgrade his equipment -> He fights enemies that are way out of his league using his OP equipment -> He gets really powerful skills/combinations/jobs/titles -> He beats even stronger enemies -> He gets even better materials -> Back to step 1

Now, if you are annoyed by this kind of repetitiveness, then this is really not a story for you. However, if you enjoy watching a main character getting better at a steady (if breakneck) pace while also reading some entertaining (if shallow) character interactions and consistent (if not particularly deep) metaphysics, this will scratch that itch for you. <<less

But there is a serious problem of logic like killing a boss monster with 200 more level than you only give you 4 level up and the fact that he is the best blacksmith of all universe only because he worked hard for 200 years doing that with only one metal? Blacksmith is an art that is develop from generation master to student that date from 5 000BC and he say he surpass that from just 200 years and with the other world that have dwarf that could have a lifespan of more than 1000?

This is simply amazing. It starts out really strong, right away you will get hooked on the very first chapter. Very interesting premise.

I really loved the beginning, where you read how he changes mentally over the years. It was quite emotional as well when you think about being in his shoes... Imagine that happening to you, all those centuries. MC is a true loner and survivor. MC is OP? So? He actually EARNED it through hard work and dedication, he never gave up all those time. That alone earned my... more>> respect.

I enjoy reading this simply because it's not boring and is in fact quite entertaining to read. It has humor in it, MC is pretty laid back and joking a lot. <<less

There is no apocalypse tag but it's like those apoc novels. Monsters appear but the society is still more or less in order (similar to Evolution Theory of the Hunter but the setting is better) as everyone had 10 years mana training besides the MC who only trained his body. He is a loner but do not mistake it for that overrated Reincarnator which only has 1 character. Here we already know 4 characters and they're quite interesting. Most likely it's a story where a loser goes popular due to... more>> his new found opness. The only thing which can ruin the story are bad interactions and too much opness, let's hope that doesn't happen. <<less

Typical Standard KR Story, I have no idea how this is rated at a massive 4.3 when it has so many issues. It starts off okay after 150~ chapters it falls off a gigantic cliff. The author clearly let his fans dictate how the story was told based on what was happening in the later halves of the story. The ending makes sense for the story that it is, but even then it feels f*cking cheap.

The Romance/Harem is probably the worst part of the f*cking story, if you want to... more>> make a harem then f*cking make a harem, but holy f*ck was this harem forced. If you were not a fan of a certain girl, then it just feels like the author is a massive sad*st for how MC interacts with the other girls it's a mess man.

I would greatly appreciate it if this author could go outside and learn how to talk to women. That way he can actually learn how to write FMCs since for some act of god he can't stop writing harems. <<less

I tried to read it, but it's too dull, I really couldn't get interested in the story.

I saw many reviews saying this was meant to be a parody, but let me make it clear for future readers, there is no comedy in the story. No funny interactions, no funny moments. At most a few snark comments.

This novel is bland, so bland I can't even point out what's missing.

The characters don't have any personality, the world is poorly explored, the MC isn't interesting and the angels are just annoying and not... more>> funny.

This novel only has such a high rating because it's old, at that time there wasn't much to compare with it, that's why it got so overrated.

Take this as an example:
Everyone goes to another world for 10 years to train except the MC. When they come back, it's like nothing has changed, everyone goes back to their normal lives. The MC wakes up with his parents eating breakfast talking about monsters and abilities naturally, as if they had never been separated (His parents haven't met for 10 years, they were in different places in the other world)

There's no suspense, emotion, or anything like that, it's like they're npcs in a game, no mind at all.

Then they go to another world again, this time only for 1 or 2 months, and when they come back, this time the MC wakes up to his dad finishing his breakfast and leaving for work. And that's all, a little conversation with the parents as if everything was as it should be, and nothing more.

It's like the world hasn't changed...

It's like I said, it's so bland that I can't even pinpoint what's missing, it's all wrong from the start. And don't even mention the other points that the rest of the people here have already mentioned.

All of those who gave it a low rating are correct, this is an overrated old novel. There's nothing interesting here. <<less

A Great Cataclysm turn to God's war. But the story is too broad. It's not bad but everything is too fast to progress for me. MC is too OP but with reason. MC need to kill God so Author gave him every possibility to advance. I even thought that MC will become part of Akashic Record.

Though MC is too strong, everyone around him are keeping up with him, not left behind. The mother was cool. To think MC's mother is the first strongest human in earth lol.

All I can say was. The details of the story is boring. I skipped most of it when I felt that it was not worth reading anymore. I didn't say it was not worth to read the whole story, just some details are unnecessary for me.

Bland.

For everything this novel tries to do, it lacks depth. It feels like the author dips his toes in this and that, never committing to anything, repeating the same pattern over and over. The worldbuilding in this novel is nonexistent. No, I mean it literally. Everything only exists and revolves around the MC. The world and its details are added as the story progresses, with the sole purpose of being used by the protagonist and as a backdrop for his journey. Which would've been fine if his journey led somewhere,... more>> but it doesn't. So, the MC is reactive, and since the world around him is fake and can't influence him naturally, the progression is clearly artificial. The author pulls out crises like candies to make the protagonist move, and it shows.

This novel has a lot of promise, but it doesn't deliver. Well, as of 140 chapters in, it didn't. This is my experience with it. It might be different for you, how can I know? It's not like there aren't any good things about this novel either. The atmosphere. It has an atmosphere of lighthearted positivity. Coupled with the author's and translator's notes that bring some life to the script, it has the power of making you not want to part with it.

As a reading addict, I'm unsatisfied. As a loner, it doesn't fill my heart. That is all. <<less

It is very easy to lose interest in the flow of the story, I have on and off quit this repeatedly and tried to reread the first 20chapters for over 4times in a span of 2-3yrs and it's comparable to chewing on some mega dry and slightly salted jerky. It's like reading a report at this point that's trying to meet word count and my eyes are just flying through the lines. For it to be so popular, it has literally nothing about it that's attracting me as the reader... more>> at all. Not even bad enough for you to keep going to be able to laugh at how bad it is, no it's just like bland water.

It's all in all just borderline "alright". An introvert protagonist who wants to be noticed but never really tried to socialize, is glad that he's never really the center of focus but still curses out his ability to go unnoticed. People that are drawn to him for inexplicable reasons or lack thereof other than his tenacity to learn and improve, to keep himself occupied so he doesn't lose in the meaning of existing. Comedy bits aren't bad but lacking; blandness is still overwhelming. I held no expectations for what he'll do, nor was I excited in what he can achieve... honestly if he died midway I couldn't give less of a damn. <<less

Just like many others here who thinks the same, the author doesn't have brain for plots and the story gets pretty bland all in all its a random, overhyped (overhyped and spread mostly by peanut brains children with aids who encountered novels for the First time or just those that have really really seriously bad taste for novels), sh*t of a read.

The author has a seriously bad case where his imagination is on par with a child (lack of creativity) despite the lonely fact that he is an adult already.... more>> Despite for an early teen like me, I can personally tell that I have the capability to pinpoint all its negative traits as a novel just like farting seriously its just easy (though it can't be said the same for those who have just encountered novels for the first time or those that have really really seriously bad taste in novels). But of course the only reason I've read this far cuz it has its good traits as well, and it's nevertheless yes the casualness of it and light heartedness (comedy) and oh sure it has its serious moments as well and its typically here where I throw up at all the load of bullsh*t it's why I made this 1 star review in the first place basically that's all it it's amount to so bland it can actually not be called a story it really got it all wrong the randomness, skills description that can give aids, plotholes, unimaginative skills and skills description... (Oh did I repeat that sorry)... All in all I'm just reading it as it is, just like how you turn to your side chick when you've breakup (ed) with your main well yeah that's actually accurate I've finished reading a good gem on this great forest of webnovels and well let's admit it finding another hidden gem or just a gem in this great jungle is just as hard as the author in this gets a brain for making novels that gets appreciated for its storyline and plot not the comedy well that's really all I can tell, have a good read everybody!
