In a fantasy world where martial artists can split mountains and creeks with a wave of their hand and break rivers with a kick, there exists a little restaurant like this.

The restaurant isn’t large, but it is a place where countless apex existences will rush into.

There, you can taste egg-fried rice made from phoenix eggs and dragon blood rice.

There, you can drink strong wine brewed from vermillion fruit and water from the fountain of life.

There, you can taste the barbecued meat of a ninth grade supreme beast sprinkled with black pepper.

What? You want to abduct the chef? That’s not going to happen, because there’s a divine beast of unfathomable level, the Hellhound, lying at the entrance.

Oh, that chef also has a robotic assistant that killed a ninth grade supreme being with a single hand and a group of crazy women whose stomachs were conquered.

Actually really like this novel. The MC's personality could be said to be bland, but I actually enjoy it as I've been reading a lot of novels with either pushover MCs (Japanese novels) or semi-psycho paths (most wuxia novels). This guy just wants to do his own thing, and sticks to his guns regardless. I will say that the release schedule is too slow though. Although I'm writing this review now, I actually read this novel like 6 months back. Coming back to see how much has been written since than is highly disappointing. Don't think I'll be coming back again for a few years or so.

@cutterline Really doubt the guy started copying a novel that came out two months prior. Also, Gourmet Food Supplier is not the first food/fantasy novel to come out. You're assuming things you shouldn't.

EDIT: Been over a year since my last review. Came back and there were a good chunk of chapters for me to read. Unfortunately, the end result is the dropping of a star down to 3-star. The primary reason is because this novel is slowly becoming more and more of a generic cultivation novel rather than focusing on him running his restaurant. This isn't really spoilery as it's so generic, but now a days he's going into "secret realms" with other cultivators and there are always people trying to kill him. He's opened up a branch restaurant on another continent, so every character that's been with us for hundreds of chapters are all gone, back at the main restaurant which we haven't heard from for ages. It's such a shame that it's becoming more and more generic, him actually fighting cultivators himself, having multiple "pets" that fight for him. Wish he'd just go back to his main restaurant.

EDIT EDIT: Completed the novel. I still leave it as 3 stars, due to the fact that cultivation became even more and more relevant. It stopped being so much about the reactions of the customers and more about killing enemies in ridiculous ways. My former complaint about him leaving customers behind and going to a new restaurant happened MULTIPLE times, which is also a blow against this novel. Authors usually do that when they run out of ideas and pretty much want to start fresh, so they throw the MC into a new place where the MC's cultivation level just happens to be the lowest around, and he has to work his way up yet again. Not fun to read over and over again.

Spoiler

One thing that really bugged me was that even in this novel, racism towards other countries popped up as soon as the MC traveled back to Earth. Japan became pretty much a scum bag of a country, and that includes everyone who lived in it. To be honest, that whole section of the novel just didn't fit. All the Gods we know in our world suddenly came to life?.. Or were always there? Killing God himself with ease and slaughtering Japense and other Gods one after the other?.. Wasn't this a novel about food?

I also hoped there would have been some romance between him and Nethery. However, they kept it in that generic area where it's safe, even at the very end. That was kind of boring.

[collapse]

I think this was a fun novel but just made the mistake, like many other novels make, of going on for too long rather than ending it when appropriate.
