She is the twenty-fourth century’s strongest immortal cultivator, but transferred into a world of magic where demons roamed rampant; a punching bag tyrannized and ostracized by her clan on one side while the scum of a man that is her fiancé humiliated, trampled her on the other side…

Want to ravage her? She laughs as she will soon teach them how to behave themselves!

Magic is amazing? Her Five Lightning’s Bombardment Talisman will turn you into ashes! Medication is very incredible? With one furnace of medicinal pills, useless can also become genius! A vigorous army of a million is very ferocious? With Scattering Beansprout Soldiers, all of you can slowly play!

Smilingly watching as those who court death act vilely without salvation. Those who submit to me prosper, those who oppose me, perish!

Only… For what reason does this Grandmaster whose face is as beautiful as a flower, when facing her, always “secretly casts passionate glances”?

A certain Grandmaster: “After sleeping for so long, now you don’t acknowledge”?

I like this story more than the other female transmigration novels. I like the fact that in the first few chapters she is already so op when compared with everyone else. She doesn't try to hide the fact that she is strong or has amazing skills. She out right kills her enemies in the first confrontation.

First, I can totally understand if some people find this novel boring since the heroine is basically overpowered from the get-go but please realize that this novel's main focus is NOT power-building (The genre is not xianxia; it's xuanhuan) but character development and plot advancement.

With that said, I'm super sad that this novel is complete now. I was totally hoping for it to go on for another 500-1000 chapters because I really enjoyed it (and there was enough potential plot material for an extra arc or two!). Sadly, all good... more>> things must come to an end (but I'm still hoping for some extra side stories!). Also, while the author wrapped everything up really nicely, I admit that I was a bit disappointed with how fast the final battle was settled. I was expecting a stronger climax but the lighthearted and comedic approach also fits the story style really well.

In retrospect, this novel was most likely intended for people that are sick of the typical transmigration plotline where the transmigrated heroine only slaps and argues with her enemies (Like seriously, I get the slapping but arguing? Why does almost every single c-novel heroine think that embarrassing their enemies with words, especially INSIDE THEIR OWN HOUSE, is going to be effective? At least embarrass them in public or something). Anyway, if you're tired of c-novels with meaningless filler conflicts, try this novel out!

Previous Review:

Spoiler

This novel is probably my second favorite historical fantasy transmigration c-novel. (First place going to Unruly Phoenix Xiaoyao only because that one's complete and this one isn't.) The author did a really good job with this novel so far: excellent female lead, adorable male lead, hilarious couple interaction, memorable side characters, and reasonable plot pacing. Almost all of the characters have an actual personality besides the usual "arrogant cannon fodder". Even more amazing? Some minor characters will grow up, change their stances, and apologize! In other words, no 500 chapter-long s*upid revenge arc just because "my pride is wrecked".

Spoiler

There are some usual cannon fodder characters but they don't really impact the story too much after their job is done since the female lead will usually kill them. Thank goodness this female lead has a brain and doesn't let annoying s*upid people live for 100 chapters despite knowing that they're trying to kill her. It might seem like it takes a while for the female lead to take action but, once she starts, she finishes everything up really fast.

[collapse]

For me, what really made this novel enjoyable to read was the interactions between the main couple. The author doesn't include a lot of romantic scenes but the few rare moments are totally worth it.

Spoiler

One of my favorite scenes is when the female lead stripped and pushed the male lead down while saying she was examining him for wounds. We get to see the male lead's thoughts and it's hilarious how he panics from the close contact while the female lead is ready to eat him up. Of course, he takes charge later but the female lead's reaction was pretty realistic: no "I'm a powerful ___ but I've never seen a guy naked before and now I'm going to blush and act like a regular clueless ancient-era girl". I never understood why all those transmigrated girls kept on blushing when looking at handsome naked men. I mean, I could swear modern folks would be used to seeing naked people by now. Bless the author for not making the female lead's personality inconsistent.

[collapse]

The plot is action-focused and the author doesn't drag much. There's no 1000-chapter long cultivation phase (thank goodness) so the plot moves along quickly. The author also does a great job of tying seamlessly unrelated topics together while slowly revealing the secrets of the world. For example, the Destruction Armor system is a bit like Madoka Magica so I feel like the author might bring up a huge tragedy and kill off some vital minor characters. (Live on, Idiot Trio! I still want to see you three show up again in the novel. #RedTeamForever; readers will get this reference around chapter 384)

A bit of a cringy wish fullfilment xianxia with a female lead. Standard s*upid enemies picking fights and lifting rocks to drop on their own toes. As a novel for female audiences of course there is a beautiful shota right off the bat...

Perhaps a 3.5/5 if you are a female who hasn't read too many xianxia and wants the gary sue MC powering through obstacles without issues. 2/5 for men who have read their fair share of this genre already.

This book is a wonderfully light-hearted romp. If you are tired of the usual sister vs sister, s*upid fiance, revenge heavy plots in the usual books of this genre, then this is a perfect read for you.

The MC is truly shameless, in the best way. She does what she wants, but has her own principles and bottom line, which she never crosses.

The usual gender roles are wonderfully reversed, and the MC both 'bullies' and 'pampers' the ML, with his full (though discreet) consent of course ;-)

There are some really... more>> lovable side characters and the story arcs are quickly resolved with zero filler chapters....

The translators are doing a wonderful job and I can't wait to truly savour the book a second time through their translation (vs my first machine-translated read through)

All in all, I highly recommend this book and this particular translation of you're looking for a fun, relatively quick read. <<less

Right, let's get a few warnings out of the way. First, I'm a biased reviewer. I've partially read all 3 of her current works and I am absolutely in love with her style of writing and ability to seamlessly switch between a serious narrative and a humorous one. Secondly, her chapters are about half the average length of other Chinese novel chapters. With that out of the way....

The author's works always revolve around her main character, expect 60 or 70% of the novel to directly involve the main character and... more>> expect side character to get sidelined (but! not forgotten or cardboard-ey, they just rarely show up). Thankfully, the author decided to do away with the more serious style she took with the other 2 protagonists she wrote prior to this. If there's one word to describe how the protagonist acts.... it would be shameless. To such an extreme point that the established laws of the world are basically broken in every humorous chapter. It... has to be read to be believed.

Her supporting cast isn't half bad on the protagonists side, they have really loveable personalities, especially the male lead (despite basically having 0 direct direct dialogue and almost never appearing so far). It's simply not possible to not feel sorry for the male lead. The antagonists are appropriately antagonistic, but so far they haven't really made a major impact on me beyond "going too far" which is basically the job of every antagonist, ever.

The general plot is still establishing itself and probably won't really open up for another 200-300 chapters if her other works are anything to go by. So far though, the world building seems like it's building itself seems to be creating a gag world, and using the interactions between the protagonist and everyone else to break every single law in existence for the world. It's hard to really get a handle on things since honestly there hasn't been enough world building as of yet. That said, it's not to say that the situations that the protagonist faces aren't serious (arguably, the level of scheming is actually well above most other novels I've read..... Just... protagonist's unconventional methods..... *shakes head*)

All in all, based on what I've read so far, the series is probably worth about 3.5 stars, plausibly even 4 stars if I consider the way she manages to diffuse serious situation. However, my faith in waiting for more chapters before deciding wasn't betrayed before so I wanted to give a preliminary rating of 5. In other words, this is me putting my faith in the future. ^^ (alt I could just mtl more I guess but... No thank you.) <<less

Don't know how I felt about this. It was enjoyable to binge-read as a simple webnovel, but the ending felt rushed, along with a few discrepancies here and there.

If you've read any of North Night's other works, you'll know that they tend to tell rather than show, and it always follows the template of "MC face-slapping people who look down on her, gaining crazy loyal allies, becoming OP". Well this is no different. However, unlike GDBBM or GNSYL where the MC is exposed to the power system (which is balanced... more>> out by their special skill) for the first time, the MC of ENL is already a peak practitioner. In GDBBM, the MC is a miracle doctor before a cultivator and in GNSYL, the MC is a grand thief before a warlock. But despite having "Pill Refiner" in the title, the times the MC of ENL actually refines any pills can be counted on one hand. The author should've written "Immortal Cultivator" in the title as the MC is always getting into battles or wars and making full use of her cultivation to overpower the enemy. It's like 80% of the plot.

Some additional things to take note of:

    • Author describes a general using the surroundings to his advantage as a "god-like military tactic"
    • Author forgets the name of the only demon the MC ever interacts with, changing his name from Chang Pu to Fu Tu
    • Author never explains the MC's cultivation system, her various cultivation items and pills, or any power systems in the novel
    • Author makes everyone blindly loyal to the MC and never doubts or questions anything she says. All of their interactions are literally just "Source: Trust Me".
      Spoiler

I found it hard to believe that the crown prince of the most influential nation would blindly trust and follow all instructions of an infamous criminal who barged into his room out of nowhere.

      [collapse]
    • Spoiler

Nearing the end, the author makes the kings good people, abdicating their thrones because they felt oh so guilty about the whole terminator situation when they had done absolutely nothing for all the years this had been going on? And they also had to add how "You should never be on the bad side of the queen" yada yada yada to their successors. Just had to rub it in there to show off the MC's might again huh.

      [collapse]
    • Spoiler

After this whole thing, no one's telling anyone what exactly happened, keeping literally everyone except the MC's allies, the previous kings and their successors in the dark. Do they not deserve to know? You can't hide it forever, especially when the MC lives past 35. It has even been mentioned how people will start being suspicious and digging into things when they realise how the MC, the only person who had never activated her World-Termination Armour, is the first (and only) terminator to ever live past 35

      [collapse]
I was expecting the chapter count to be similar to their other works, especially with how every single chapter is cut short into multiple sections. Again, hence the rushed ending imo

Spoiler

The ending was... sigh. The MC had to collect all the bones of the Demon God who's residing in her soul. You aren't even shown any progress before the ending comes up and the MC's like "Well haha I already had my subordinates look for everything so now all I have to do is bring the bones back to this demon tree thing"... are you serious? This is how it starts and ends? And then everything following is just:

    • demon nice to human, they fight against common enemy
    • everything fixes itself
    • the MC is now feared and respected by the entire world

This story is one of the best Chinese novel I ever read. Although still unfinished, The story boasts a compelling fantasy adventure that will captive you. Major plots went on pretty slowly while stunning mysteries were constantly revealed.

MC is strong and a bit arrogance but I like it. She will slowly recupurate and regain all her power as the story move on. This world uses magic as main stream, so no one know how MC is so strong while being young. (But anyone else can also cultivate here if they... more>> know how to) Destroyer armor plot is actually so deep and will entangle the whole story, you should try to guess a lot about its origin.

The author focuses more on character development than anything else, so, do not worry about plain characters. There are also a lot of minor characters with unique trait. The story is very slow here. If you feel uncomfortable with short chapter, I advise you to horde 10 to 20 chapters at a time or reading raw like me. There is a main plot, you should read the story for this reason alone. Minor plots are spread out evenly, usually one will span around 100 chapters.

The title of the story made no justice at all, this story rarely has anything to do with pill making.

Totally recommend to read raw.

Spoiler

Only the princess slicing arc that I feel a bit unneeded and excessive. Otherwise, everything else will not break your rationality.

Time line

To capital city by 200ch -> School arc by 400ch -> Military & Major demon battle by 600ch -> Escape the country & inner core restore by 800ch -> Married by 1066ch -> To be continue

Pacing of the novel is slow yet also sort of fast. I love how shameless the MC can be! It's freaking hilarious how she acts like a rouge when she's with the ML!!

Example:

"The guards that stood at the entrance secretly praised their young lady's capability at lying through her teeth.

It was clearly her losing control and striking this kid half dead. But, from how she spoke, it became her mercifully saving him... " - ch17

Can't wait to read more!

Those who said that this is light-hearted is lying.

Tbh, the MC is a bit... too much for my liking. Heck! Jun Wu Xue is better (FMC from another novel with the same author).

This novel is generic "I'm really strong and special in my previous world and then I became an unlucky also weak person in this world" troupe. The MC is not overly cold like the one in Black bellied miss, but I found that one is more likeable.

The action is a bit too prolonged, standard Chinese faceslapping plot, shameless... more>> and self-righteous ex-fiance character, jealous and narrow minded women, loyal soldier subordinates. The FMC's character bored me. But it was good as it last. <<less

I don't understand why people are rating it so highly, it's a pretty generic xianxia-esque series with an overpowered main character, just with a female protagonist instead of a male one. It, at least so far, doesn't even have the world building or character depth of something like Emperor's Domination.

I put this novel on hold at ch.558

MC is quite overpowered, but I like it, and her powers are still on increase. She does not really need ML to constantly rescue her, which I really really appreciate.

ML is the sweetest cutie, and I did not mind our MC teasing him, which was fun, if her hands on approach was left within certain limits. However, I find she's too forceful and aggressive for my taste in the romantic department... It would've been nicer if MC shamelessness and aggressiveness were not so... more>> rampant and were toned down a bit. Borrowing Ji Fengyan’s own line from the earlier chapters I'd have to say that she's a flavour I can't handle.

When it comes to any romance in general, I would not have been overjoyed if ML acted the same way as she did, I am talking about some romantic developments in the latest chapters I read and why I no longer enjoy romance between MC and ML... when I think of it I really start to miss oblivious heroines... <<less

I’m rating this high because it’s a fun read. We finally have an MC who is smart and do not hesitate to kill anyone (eventually after she gave them 2 chances) who wants to kill her and it’s more satisfying to read compared with those overdone Mary Sue white lotus helpless rubbish MC who needs people (mostly handsome over-OP ML) tropes. Nope. This MC does all the butt-kicking herself and does not rely on anyone to save her. Although in the beginning, she was saved by the ML and other... more>> side characters when she wasn’t at her full strength yet.

Overall this is a light-hearted read, there isn’t any overly complicated plots (especially on the romance side), but some parts surprised me a bit and I had a lot of fun reading of the mc’s antics. <<less

A "feel-good" novel with an interesting female lead with none of the bad and some of the good. Worth the read.

Much like male lead novels have some tropes you see in every story, the same goes for female lead ones, and this is not the exception. The premise of the novel shows a female expert from another world who reincarnates into someone else's body and uses her past abilities to soar above the masses all the while exploring the romance prefaced by the required meet-cute situation with the apparently weak... more>> and innocent love interest who has a mysterious and grand background. Fortunately, our main character remains the lead as the author avoids the very tiresome, white-knight saving-the-day, scenarios with an actual strong female lead who takes charge of the action.

The story is original enough that it feels like a world of its own and it only innovates as much as it needs to. The power-scale, stages, and treasures throughout the novel are very loosely defined, only showing what it, again, needs to. Overall, it shows only as far as you need to know, but what it shows it does well, which gives it a breezy overall feeling to the reader.

The Good:

  • The main character remains strong and cool-headed, leading the charge throughout the novel, which is appreciated.
  • The novel is quite easy to read and has a breezy, feel-good touch to it.
The Bad:

  • The author constantly forces the characters to ignore or forget about the main character's abilities and strengths for the sake of the overall tone, which can get exasperating at times when some people do not react as you imagine they would.
  • The relationship between the female lead and the male romantic interest is quite creepy when you take into account the age each believes the other to have.
Overall, a short, breezy read which could satisfy anyone looking for a strong female lead or a feel-good novel. <<less

Written by the same author as Genius Doctor: Black Belly Miss, I came into this with some expectation of a kickass heroine, an absent but alluring hero, a reverse harem of beautiful followers and a long and plodding story. Unfortunately this story felt a little half baked and I couldn't help but feel that the series ended prematurely due to lots of plot devices which were alluded to but never addressed. The author did a great job tying up the story so it ended satisfactorily without any major plot holes... more>> but it still felt like a hasty end.

My biggest gripe was the misleading title. Honestly for a novel called the Unprecedented Pill Refiner/Indominatable Master of Elixirs, the heroine did not do much pill refining at all! I can count on one hand the number of times she refined pills. As expected with heroines of this genre, she was OP with pre-god like powers but there was a strong reliance on her blood (she was forever slicing her palm) and talismans which was ironic when she scorned other sorcerers of their inefficiency for the amount of time it took them to chant their spells.

There was so much potential here with the terminators arc but it fizzled out and lost a lot of its magic thereafter. Still a good read, but don't expect too much. Four out of five stars.

Btw - this series has been completely translated over at Webnovels. <<less

This is an entertaining read. The main character is extremely powerful in her own right, takes care of all her own problems and is the dominant partner in the main romance. There's no s*xual violence and the only weird romance thing is the possible age disparity between the two leads. All in all it feels quite refreshing for an entry in this genre.

What drags it down is a messy translation, or possibly a messy original. The numbers for example frequently change and army goes from 10, 000 to 100, 000... more>> to one million and back down to 10, 000 all in one page. There's a similar disparity with a kingdom being one hundred years old, then thousands of years old, then back to one hundred and so on. The plotting is also messy in places, in one arc everyone has heard about Kingdom A's great deeds but in the next arc lots of people suddenly feel like bullying Kingdom A even though it trounced a kingdom larger than theirs in a war.

Also, while it is actually well paced and doesnt drag on like some of the authors other works, it also feels rushed towards the end and a bit anticlimactic. Overall I'd say it's a solid read, a good entry in the genre with some fresh elements, but nothing exceptional. <<less
