Review as of Ch.146.

Very average, very run of the mill. Standard tropes of having a cheat/plot armor, defeating higher level opponents, able to use skills and refine strength far beyond his own rank, surprising and offending people along the way. Some find such things entertaining, as for myself, I don’t mind seeing the typical being repeated as long as it’s well written. But MGS doesn’t stand out in any way. I’m only 140+ chapters in and already the major themes are repeated thrice: powering up, entering and winning a tournament,... more>> kill beasts/demons in another area, repeat. The antagonists are forgettable, most die within the same arc or so. Even the powering up scenes are repeated: using the same methods of pills/stones and breaking through under pressure every time.

There isn’t an overall plot yet which is understandable in series with a huge number of chapters.

The protagonist is one-dimensional, he treats friendly rivals nicely and won’t hesitate to be ruthless against those who wish him ill. There is very little dialogue beyond the "How dare you!" “You die now!” “You think you can kill me!” “Impossible!” etc... The writing is very dry, like the framework from a martial arts movie script. It doesn't have the humor of "Long Live Summons!" or the stoic beauty of "Ze Tian Ji", not the emotions of "Against The Gods" or gravitas of "I Shall Seal The Heavens". It reads very simply, nothing fancy, nothing memorable.

The family members are merely plot devices, the parents has little or no role in influencing the MC’s growth, the siblings exist to be cheerleaders. Friends are few and far in between, and the MC’s friend from the early chapters all but disappeared entirely. There is one female character, speculated to be his romantic interest but hasn’t developed beyond the “she is like a fairy and so far away, one day I’ll reach her” stage yet.

Perhaps there is potential in the series once the romance aspects are developed, but thus far the xianxia aspects are extremely ordinary and nothing special. Read as a time filler for other series. <<less

I agree with a lot of what the other reviewers have been saying about how this series is very similar to most other xianxia novels. However, it also lacks some of the gaping flaws in other more popular series (I'm looking at you MGA). First of all, the MC is not a petty little idiot whose sole purpose is to kill and r*pe everyone he meets. Yes, he kills people without hesitation but only when they are a direct threat to his life or the lives of others. Second of... more>> all, he doesn't have a harem. For most WN, women have one purpose, like Pokemon, gotta catch em all! An MC who isn't swayed by every whim is appealing. As a final note, his power progression is pretty steep even by xianxia standards but I happen to like that actually so I won't take off any points for it. I wouldn't recommend this series if you get off on those r*pe/mu*der or polygamous wish-fulfillment WNs. For everyone else, I'd recommend at least giving it a try. <<less

This is pure popcorn Xianxia, cultivation is glossed over, character development is mediocre and the plot is somewhat haphazard.

What really shines in the story is the fight scenes, especially when MC enters the slighlty higher cultivation levels.

-> Up to chapter 204.

This novel is less and less interesting. Every major clichés gathered there. The wicked and brainless people dot the ground like a swarm of bees. There isn’t an ounce of plot that could be associated with the word “smart”, the intellectual level of this novel doesn’t exceed that of a 10 years old child and everything is black or white.

The dialogues are flat and without depth. There is no nuance, no subtlety to the point where we can’t even talk about suspense. Every chapter scrolls with... more>> an irritating monotony. There is no goal, no plot, everything is done straight on the line. The hero is horribly cheated and all his problems will always be solved by a powerful armorplot. Which obviously leaves out any sense of logic and common sense, the novel is floating in a sea of nonsense. There is virtually no concept of work on oneself since all his breakthroughts passed handily and divine coincidence will always be there to sow two to three treasures on his way, thus justifying this absurd rise in power. Regarding the story, there is no purpose, the author creates history throughout his pen, on a whim and without ever giving any objective. It’s just perpetual redundancy. The author has no sense of originality.

This is even more evident as we see with what blunder he built the background, it always magically materializes to support the illogicality of the story. There is no great and memorable enemies, geographic situation is barely legible, there is no notion of a world history, as everything appears on the whim of the author, there is no suspense, expectation or anticipation. We can never visualize with great precision the MGS universe, which from my point of view, is a huge failure in a literary work. Suffice to say that there is just no basis, this novel is a huge chasm which fascinates by the addiction that the act of reading causes through the readers’s habits. <<less

I started reading this novel to kill time and because I'm fond of breakthroughs, the OP MC type of thing and has a fast paced story lines.

I have don't mind on how shitty the novel is, and I will continue reading it despite of its shittyness just because I am fond of reading fast paced cultivation novels.

But for the new readers that will try and read this novel, I will warn you that this novel is really substandard, and really disgusting that you'll lose your sense of dialog.

YES you will... more>> lose your sense of conversation, In this novel, the protagonist is a walking hateful character, just his presence alone will incite the 'killing-intention' of the other 'characters' (mostly cannon fodders with a very single dialog lines like 'You are courting-death', 'Do you know who we are / I am?', 'That's impossible, how can he be so strong, even I am invincible'.) The dialog is so bad that you'll cringe reading it because of it's hypocrisy and how s*upid the conversation it will be. And it truly sucks that the author wants to portray that the MC is so smart that he can deduced every plot of the enemies for him, but it's just pretty s*upid, and the thing that I don't like the most about this novel is, just a simple misunderstanding, or just because the MC is so hateful, it will cause bloodbath, like for example, they where on a battlefield, where a female character hates the MC so much for no reason at all, and she incites the mobs to kill the MC just because he is hateful.

I'll just end this review hanging, it's because as I'm writing this one, I don't know the words I will use to say. Man, I don't know english any more. RIP. READ THE NOVEL IN YOUR OWN DISCRETION. <<less

I see some reviews and I personally must say I love this series specially as of late with the main character increasing his strength every 3 chapters and facing off some baddies, anyways a bit of spoilers here but as of Ye Xiwen entering the main school the story has progressed pretty well and I can almost see the future volumes involving fights with demonkin and our MC going to their world with his shiny mirror. So yeah love the series and this with Peerless Martial God are 2 of... more>> my favored reads despite them not being anything new or unique. <<less

Humans used to write in this awesome thing which would make their works far more amazing than they had any right to be, thing which seems alien to this author, something he perhaps never experienced. No, it's not complex, tapestry-like storytelling, or deep, complex characters, or inspiring, well-structured world. It's this rather amazing thing we tend to call 'emotion'.

That's right folks. Martial God Space lacks any form of emotion. And I mean ANY. There's no love. There's no hate. There's no anger, rage, fury to bury the sky itself. There's... more>> no agony, there are no heaven-shaking roars born from helplessness. The closest thing to emotion in this work is the feeling of snide-ness. If that's a thing. Which I'm pretty sure it's not.

It's rather embarrassing to read this. It's perhaps the most formulaic novel I've ever had chance of reading in my life. I don't mind that it's basically built from cliches grounds-up. I don't mind that it has absolutely 0 originality in its premise, structure or even the flow. I don't mind that the characters are nothing. That's right, nothing. If you had English in high-school, you must have read those rather olden novels (Robinson Crusoe etc.) where those side-characters were lucky to even get a name. That's right, those guys. Yes, they embody more of a 'character' than anyone in this novel does, MC included.

How do I define the MC in this novel? He kind of gets """"""angry"""""" if you mention his family. Outside of that, nothing. Oh, yeah, he makes a """""""snide""""""" comment once in a while. That's about it. He's rather lucky, though, as others don't even get that much.

But, to harp on the characters is not something I want to, because almost every by-the-book xianxia is exactly the same in this department. So, if you've read any other xianxia in your life, you've read Martial God Space in terms of characters.

As for the plot? Lol. Is there even a plot in this thing? I mean, yeah, sure, there's the conflict (all the goddamn time; and, if there's not, don't worry, some absurd event will happen that will cause our MC to 'offend' some 3rd degree-pampered dude). Yeah, there are devils invading and what not. But hell, that's not plot. That's like a side-quest you send your MC on when you want to slow down the pace of the actual story. There's no actual story here beyond the MC wanting to get stronger. As for his motives? Nope. None. He just abruptly decided he'd like to get stronger once he got his cheat. Nothing prompted that change. His family members weren't harmed, his engagement with the pretty girl wasn't broken, nobody offended him in any way, but he absolutely must get stronger for some reason, so he decides to do exactly that. And, well, that's really the story. If there's one """positive""" I could say about the story, it's that the author's not stingy with blowing through realms. At least it doesn't take 100+ chapters to leave the initial shitty realm like in some other stories. As of ch178, MC is rather up-there in terms of cultivation (up-there within the current context, at the very least).

However, even if we discard all these things as they're to be expected of formulaic xianxia, what disappoints me the most is the lack of any engaging point. Even if some other xianxia are far shitter than this one in terms of the writing style and competence, at least they have 'bad guys' you want to see dead. Here, even bad guys are just kind of meh. Yeah, they spit the same bullsh*t like any other bad guy in this type of a novel, but they're taken care off far too quickly for you to get angry with them. In 178 chapters, there wasn't a single emotionally engaging moment, whatever that emotion may be: anger, suspense, sadness, joy, you name it, nothing. It's as though we're just going through motions, reading someone's journal where all the emotional information is packed in a paragraph that describes the event, and we're supposed to move on afterwards.

A novel can have a shitty characters, shitty story, shitty world, but it's at least bearable if it has some really engaging moments. Martial God Space is robotic. It has nothing original about itself. Characters are just names and nothing more. It's void of any emotional engagement, let alone any sort of impact. You aren't even given enough time to get fed up with spoiled-princey characters because they're killed off rather quickly, or they're just not that annoying. The novel follows the most basic formula for xianxia and it never strays from it. The best thing I can say about it it's that it's extremely easy to read. You'll be blowing through the chapters unless you simply find yourself bored to death with the sheer 'nothingness' of everything. It's not terrible. It's somewhat competently written (although translation isn't that great to be honest, even up to the chapter I'm currently at). It has the most basic plot structure. It has conflict. But none of these things matter as it can't engage you properly even for a second.

Even if other novels like Peerless Battle Spirit whatever, Hedonist Sovereign etc. Are far more annoying to read, at least they invoke some form of emotion in you. They're terrible to the bone, and rather offensive to your intelligence, but at least they try to do something. On the other hand, Martial God Space is innocent. It doesn't take any risks, it doesn't try at all to draw you in, and it has nothing unique of its own to subvert your attention from the absolute lack of any emotions. In 178 chapters, I noticed a total amount of 0 (ZERO) interesting exchanges between the characters that didn't have anything to do with: a) commentary of side characters b) exposition c) face-slapping (or whatever). Is it really that hard to, at least once in every ten chapters, include something as basic as:

Character A: Hah, what's with your face? Did you sleep-walk yourself into the wall?

Character B: No, no, I'm trying the new 'brooding, cool guy' look. Do I look cool?

That's it. Even a 10y old kid could come up with this. It doesn't even qualify as a proper banter, but it would still be 100000 times more interesting than any piece of dialogue you'll read in Martial God Space. It's kind of sad, actually. So sad, I'll now go back and read the rest of translated chapters. Because I have what professionals like to call a self-destructive personality. Hooray for me! <<less

Long story short this novel is a sister of PMG, MGA and ATG. These sisters have same DNA and they are almost like clones. So if you enjoy the decent of one arrogant young master after another, and seeing them getting smacked... then you would definitely love it. The real development in story happens after 1K+ chapters where some secrets about the world and protagonist are revealed. Till then it stays faithful to its other sisters (MGA, PMG).

The fights scenes are average. The translations are of very poor quality so... more>> perhaps the novel feels more mediocre then it originally is... <<less

Medicore clichés repetitive plot. MC a moving problems magnet, and the problems are almost have the same exact development. Kills someone ->Chased->kills more->Almost dies->Breaks through and kill them. Repeat with a stronger clan 15 chapter later.

And why the f*ck are all (99%) of the villains mentally ret*rded. They throw themselves to death, as they see the MC being able to kill someone at their realm yet still throw themselves at him s*upidly.

I read purely for pleasure, so long as whatever I'm reading can help me kill time and or keep me remotely entertained, I cannot be arsed with criticism or being even remotely judgemental..

However.. I'll have to rate this 1/5.

There's machine translations and there's also normal translations..
There should never be an IN-BETWEEN.

... more>> Calling it half-assed would be an understatement.
Calling the translation quality sub-par would be a complement.

The quality is remotely similar to an intelligent? Elementary student using a dictionary for their daily journal.
The worse part? The quality progressively worsened even after so many chapters..

As much as I am a firm believer in showing appreciation to any and all translators / authors..
I only feel pity for this author as their story will likely never receive proper recognition in the English community due to the less than sub-par translation that has progressed to this point [500+ chapters].
The series comes off as even more bland, childish, boring or worse due to the quality.
And because of the sheer amount of chapters already translated, this series will forever have this stigma in the English community.

TL;DR
I'll have to rate this 1/5 simply due to the random? translation quality that cannot be categorized as either normal or machine translation.
Honestly feels as if I'm reading an elementary schooler's attempt at trying to write like a high school student. <<less

Okay, I need to catch up, but all you really need to know is that this is a typical xianxia that I actually find enjoyable. I have never seen the point in giving bad ratings just because a novel is typical xianxia, because hey --- it's xianxia.

Xianxia is going to follow the typical trope. The only problem people may find is that this one is amazingly typical.

Few pros: it's and extremely enjoyable read. I love the power ups and fights. It's probably the only reason I read xianxia nowadays. No... more>> one reads xianxia for the plot except for the ones that actually have some plot (ISSTH, MJTI).

You read xianxia for the action and satisfaction when the s*upid bad guy gets beat up. This is one of the xianxia with an MC that I don't want to castrate.

I understand if you are turned off by the typical-ness -- just give it a chance and you'll find that you can actually ignore the plot holes... And if you can't, I do not blame you. *Pat's back* <<less

I quit reading this novel because it's so repetitive.

Every "ARC" there's a lot of idiot who always belittle the MC and MC kills him and then the brother/Elder of that idiot will tell himself that he will get his revenge mocks MC and dies too. Rinse and repeat.

I like the early parts of this novel but later I say nope!

The premise isn't new, the execution is just worse. Standard MC is reincarnated, finds a rock in a pond that gives him super training speed and then he trains using magic stones. Quickly develops a domineering attitude followed by tournaments after tournaments where everyone in the world is an asshat and MC needs to beat them all down in front of other people to gain reputation. Cycle repeat. /Plot. Boring to read, nothing new brought to the table, and really poor character development makes this one an easy read but... more>> also easy to pass. Very forgettable. <<less

A really generic xianxia, if I should say, but that doesn't means it's bad, it's cheesy, bad guy shows up, bad guy defeated.

Okay, that does sounds boring but it actually is, MC rarely have any contact with others except evil character (which ends up beheaded by mc). No promising heroine or master, maybe because it's still 200 chp long, but I enjoyed it, it's carefree, it's adventure, it's killing bad people and devil, no tragedy, no extreme plot, I still like it, reading it untuk 209 bcuz I noticed it'll... more>> end of translated chp, will read again after 100 chp transalated <<less

Three stars for this novel might be pushing it a little but I like finished novels so that gave it an extra star.

When talking about plot of the novel I can only say that writer wrote this novel without any plan. There are many loosed ends, many characters that are just forgotten and they just suddenly appear 200-300 ch. Later, while later in the story some characters are just forgotten (those who you would think are important).

And lets start talking about cultivation levels in story. There is no concept of... more>> knowing before main character reached similar level about next level. Same thing applies to his enemies. You only know they are stronger but never how strong they are until main char is stronger then he just explodes them.

What I want to say that the world outlook looks like is full of secrets, if you're weak you cant know about anything concerning stronger people until MC comes in a play than whole world knows all information.

That's about it, I almost finished reading it and ill try to finish it but I can say that is one of most boring xianxia novels i've read so far. <<less

Haah~ I dropped this mid way. Please don't read this!

First of all why is it "Transporting Worlds"? He never mentions Earth or anything. It serves no purpose. Second of all the first thing he does is act like a child who just gotten powers! All he does is fight and train. Mindless Heroines, Envious Villains, Its all the clichés stuff you have all read packed into one story! Basically a Cheesy story... This is super predictable. We hardly get any dialogue on the Main Character thoughts. The Characters hold no... more>> taste and feel plain. The first chapters are hard to read. (Don't know if its translations or just is)

Honestly I want my time back. Move to the next story and pretend you see nothing! Yes this is your typical Wuxia. Nothing new and nothing you havent seen before!

Its similar to "Hail the King" or "Bringing a Farm to another world" so if you liked those 2 you might be able to get into this. Just maybe. <<less

Even for generic, tr*shy WX/XX stories, this is bad. MC has this "magical space" (literally what it's called) that he gets for no reason (it LITERALLY drops out of the sky right in front of him an entire month after he crosses through to a another world is not a by product of said crossing) that can do random things that are never mentioned until the moment he needs them. MC is also ALWAYS the hero, he shows up at the last moment when the enemy is about to win,... more>> when the situation is horrible, the rest of the story, he's just by himself. One way to judge how a story is going to turn out is to read the beginning carefully because if the novel cannot setup Act 1 properly, it cannot carry a story forward. And the novel starts off pretty badly. This for me has the worst "transported to another world" tagged novel. The author seemed to think it looks cool and added it as a note within the first chapter, never to be mentioned again. There is no relevancy to that fact at all. It doesn't make the MC stronger... more>> or smarter. Novel could have very well started with - MC with average cultivation and then stumbles upon a treasure. Then there is repetition - MC cultivates, meets someone, fights, shock and horror he wins, gains spiritual stones for his "martial space" and then goes back to cultivation. 130 chapters and it has happened like 5-6 times already. Then there is the love of "special spaces" by the author - you know a domain which opens in few years and sect sends it disciples for some competition or something. Twice already in 130 chapters. Its like author just wanted to setup fight after fight after fight. <<less
