The story was very original and I like each of the arcs. At the end it kind of became nonsensical powers flying around but the plot is consistent throughout. I like the spin on the apocalypse system story and how the characters aren’t just going along with the system. I definitely recommend this for an interesting read.

This novel in truth was about how cruel can someone become to achieve his goals. The protagonist at first was a relatively normal protagonist with a very high combat talent, but as the story progressed and more and more important people for him died, he slowly changed to a monster that can only push forward no matter the amount of sacrifices. It's an incredible story, but it sends shivers down your back once you reach the ending. I highly recommend it for those that are tired of plot armor created... more>> not only for the protagonist but also for everyone close to him. <<less

This Is one of the best novels I've read.

Ignore those pitiful people who dropped this novel and rated a low rating.

Like DekuHero obviously didn't read past chapter one.

... more>> Pros

The story is absolutely amazing

The main character is like an insane version of muyoung from KotB (read that novel it's also good)

Side characters don't just disappear and not get involved in the story.

World building is good

It's not a harem

It only has one female lead

Side characters also die not like the book eating magician

Enemies are not like prideful idiots from ATG or some other bad xinxia novel.

Enemies are cunning but they underestimate the goal of the main character.

Annoying characters are killed by the MC which is amazing

MC does not help other people cause they are pitiable.

The main character is different from other revenge crazed main characters he is insane not like a calculating muyoung.

Cons

The ending could have been better (not saying it was bad it is really good if you read that part and decide your not gonna read it youre a idiot.)

Spoiler

the ending is basically MC kills every enemy that existed in the universe turn kills the monster with then dies then everything dies. Then the universe is recreated (basically rebirth) then MC and company are also recreated they are basically normal humans including flame rain then MC starts dating flame rain then the end.

[collapse]

Spoiler

i wish the ending could have been MC kills all enemies and kills the monster queen but everything dies work the monster queen excluding MC then then the MC creates another universe then flame rain survived the others did not then they get married they die together peacefully

[collapse]

I can't believe that I chose ATG over this one.

I've read 1000 chapters of that piece of crap expecting something good but it was absolute crap. <<less

A clone of reincarnator, just not as good.

Tutorial Stage, Check. Lords, Check, People have to work together to escape tutorial stage, check. Kang Hansoo, Errr, I mean Choi Hyuk is fighting the bosses, check. Hidden missions, Check.

Writing is better than 90% of Wuxia, /Xianxia novels out there, but what's the point? I can just read reincarnator instead.

Read it if you have read all the reincarnator chapters and want something else to fill the time.

I don't like to give reviews early on normally but this series is quite promising. Thus far it has a good flow past the introduction but the MC seems to act contrary to his stated reasons.

If you are wondering if you should read this the answer is a resounding yes

I cannot express in words how much I loved this story. I truly was not expecting this. Honestly, my expectations going in, were quite low because this didn't seem like a very well known work..... but oh boy. It's like looking for copper and finding a diamond mine.

I like the MC, the difference in opinions and perspectives, and the dark tone of the story. But apart from all that, what truly astonished me was the vast universe in itself. Because my expectations were pitifully low, my happiness upon finding this... more>> masterpiece, is that many times higher.

The story telling used in this novel was done very well. While reading, I noticed that most of time, everything progressed quite smoothly. Many of the arcs lasted for a satisfiable length of time, not being too long, nor being too short. In addition, irrelevant events were mostly skimmed over using time skips, resulting in the reader still being engaged.

Side Characters

Although this can be viewed negatively, the author wrote the story in a way so that side characters were removed naturally. Instead of keeping them alive just because they held some importance at some point of the book, the author casted them aside later in the story. In fact, some characters are introduced and not so long later, they die. In my opinion, having the ability to do this well contributes to a good story. By introducing and disposing new characters, the author is able to tell the story from another perspective without having to have an endlessly long list of characters that literally nobody remembers. From my experience, many authors these days fail at this aspect with them experiencing the urge to keep 80% of the supporting characters alive even though their continued existence won’t improve the quality of the story in any way. And on top of all this, it’s written in a way so their deaths don’t feel forced.

Spoiler

Character Consistency

This is yet another aspect that makes this novel stand out. From the start to the end, the MC has one goal and continues to work towards it. Unlike fools from other novels, he’s much more stubborn and won’t have others controlling his actions as if he was some sort of puppet. While in some other novels where the MC feels content after achieving a fraction of their initial goal of revenge, he continues to follow his own path.

Spoiler

Plot Consistency

Not long after the first issue in the story arises, a major problem is introduced; killing the monsters. And throughout the entirety of the story, killing monsters was an important part of the story. That’s what the story is about; eradicating monsters and taking revenge. There aren’t any unnecessary arcs that contribute little to the story. Ending the story having achieving both initial goals creates a satisfying end without dragging out the story any longer than it needs to be.

Criticism :

Spoiler

Growth

While reading, I felt his growth rate was too quick in the latter half. Though his rate of growth in the beginning was considered extremely quick according to the comments from the characters, it was an entirely whole level in the latter half of the book.

For those who haven’t read, the rankings went like this :

Consumables -> Lowest Ranked Warrior -> Low Ranked Warrior -> Middle Ranked Warrior -> High Ranked Warrior -> Highest Ranked Warrior -> Transcendent Ranked Warrior -> Demise Rank (This rank was only used to describe monsters)

At chapter 100, the MC finally claws his way to Middle Ranked Warrior. Then at chapter 200 where everything has nearly concluded, the MC is able to one shot an assumed peak Demise Ranked monster (It’s not explicitly stated it was at the pinnacle but this was the final boss who commanded and created other Demise Ranks so it can be assumed it should have a huge amount of power compared to other Demise Ranked monsters). In other words, we can place his power at an unnamed rank above Demise Rank. So for the former half the novel, the MC climbs 3 ranks while in the latter half of the novel, he climbs 5 ranks. It should be noted that starting from High Ranked, the rate of progression was slow considering they need to create their own path. Obviously, each rank was much harder to achieve compared to the previous rank so when taking into this account, his growth rate was simply too quick. His growth from the former half of the novel is akin to a baby to an infant and his growth from the later half is akin to an infant to an adult at their prime. This was one of the few things that frustrated me while reading.

Spoiler

Rushed Ending

The previous point intertwines with this issue. Since he amassed strength extremely quickly in the latter half, his goals are quickly accomplished. His goal of killing the leaders of the alliance seemed so far in the beginning yet within 120 chapters, they seemed like they stood only a step away. Since he amassed strength so quickly towards the end, the almighty beings quickly changed into somewhat tough opponents. The author really could have extended the story a bit more for a more satisfying end.

[collapse]

Spoiler

Epilogue

Since the author wished for a happy ending, the Epilogue was written. Each chapter focused on a certain character’s future and because there was only one chapter per character, some things were not detailed at all. For example, when a supporting characters tries to make up with their love interest, was only the dilemma and the short interaction where he fails is told. Then... there’s nothing more??? It’s only later in another chapter is it told they made up and died which was written in a single paragraph. The other characters have it a bit better but in the end, their future is written all in one chapter. Obviously, that wasn’t that satisfying to read at all.

Overall, this was a great novel that had noticeably bad points but had good points that stood out more which created a good reading experience. <<less

3, 5★ Overrated, its mediocre.

The MC is irritating so much he's an incompetent leader who never bothered training or informing his army about their enemies yet had the audacity to complain and say they're weak. He had complete disregard to those he consider weak and useless, keeping them was for the sole reason of joining the alliance to take revenge, he just couldn't do everything by himself that's why he don't outright abandoned them. Although, the author made things way too convenient for the MC by justifying his action. There... more>> are too many plot holes in this novel... <<less

This novel is about MC and his followers fighting and fighting until they obtain revenge. While that goal is really simple the characters have diverse personalities and stories. There is a lot of scheming and character growth. The Fights are well written in my opinion and I liked the Power System. A lot of novels struggle with the end of the Story but I think This one handled it well. There is some romance but its definitely not the Focus which I think is nice. Most importantly There is NO... more>> HAREM.

Started out strong, decent premise, world building and interesting character roster.

Then the MC slowly started becoming more and more one dimensional.

And then any character that would serve to aid his character development started getting removed.

Other characters also became boring as well over time, just yes men for the MC's irrationality.

Dropped it at chapter 140.

This was the first Light Novel I ever read so I can be considered a little biased towards it, but this to this day remains one of the best light novels I've ever read. (As of writing this review, I have read many Light novels such as Everyone Else is a Returnee, Record of a Mortals Journey to Immortality, Desolate Era, Overgeared, etc.) The characters are well developed, the plot is solid and the world is well made. Overall this is a solid Light Novel and I would recommend that... more>> you give it a read.

Spoiler

The only problem I have with it is that by the end, many characters have died. However, the upside is that the author gave all the remaining characters happy-ish endings. Another positive is that the Main Character doesn't forget about his original goal (Revenge) and stays true to himself until the end.

Note that this novel isnt for everyone. There is a lot of killing and also yes, some characters actually die for once. In fact, most of the negative reviews are people dropping this novel that I saw came from around that moment. Although the MC has a heartless personality and relation emotions are subpar, the novel was prettt good. However it quickly started going downhill once the character Flare Rain was introduced who is likely the FL. Ever since then the quality started dropping till it came to a point... more>> where I couldnt continue reading. If you are going to try but drop, suggest dropping once MC gets out of the city zone, ptob around 40 (where quality starts to drop basically), or when MC is chosen as one of the seven sovereigns, which is prob 80ish. <<less

Feels like this whole 'real world becoming an RPG' plot is very popular amongst Korean WN. It's a shame that the MC here comes across as a bit of an irrational, simpleton, with a few nuggets of genius sprinkled in there. "At least this is a grim story that builds into something epic" is what I would like to say, but even that feels severely lacking; due to corners being cut in world building and whole sections of character building being skipped over, until the 2nd half. But in the... more>> end it's just a simple post-apocalyptic revenge story, until it's not. Though I can't definitely say that's a good thing. <<less

Great story. There is gore, action, thrilling scenes, tragedy, good characters and a good ending which makes it worth reading as endings can be the death of so many stories. This was just the right length to read quickly but not quickly enough where you need more when it ended.

Yeah this novel honestly isn't terrible. It had great potential to start with but the author seemed to run out of ways to make the story interesting outside of the MC. Unfortunately; for me the decision making in this novel is absolute rubbish. A lot of irrational decisions that should lead to the exctinction of the human race simply seem to work out due to the strength of the MC alone, even though his goal is to raise a strong army to get his vengeance all he does is keep... more>> throwing people into the meat grinder and hoping they come out alright and ready to fight. This novel is definitely interesting. I would not rank it that well in terms of consistency or balance, but it does put out a complete story that wraps up in a conclusion that was to an extent unexpected. Though I do like a dash of happy ending bullsh*t the ending here seemed far too soppy for me. I lost interest around chapter 144, everything after that point was extremely boring to me. They used stats at the beginning and then never displayed any of them again.

Honestly, read this as a... more>> last resort. Look first to other similar works, there are better novels out there. <<less

Spoiler

This story starts of with your cliche LN stories, a system/game like message. People killing each other. Hideous personality rearing its head.

But this novel just leave it at that, it doesn't just make use of these elements to glorify the MC. It all revolves around the one and only theme of this novel, Revenge.

Our MC here, Choi Hyuk, did everything for the sake of his original goal. Revenge. He doesn't paint himself in good light over it, nor does he tries to justify it. His goal never once deviated throughout the stories, and he even had to do things that set him off in this path to others. He did it regardless, and he showed how one is supposed to do it. Put your lives alongside with them instead of judging them from the top.

At the end his does achieve his revenge. He doesn't get a live happily ever after, he had to faced his end too as the novel always implied, "those consumed by vengence cannot live for tomorrow"

The epilogues also bring a great closure to the novel, so make sure to read it!
