Shao Xuan joins a friend in his expedition to a recently discovered archaeological cave. After he picks up an ordinary looking stone he is teleported to a different world and wakes up in the body of a small orphan child. The world he is in now is still in its stone age with primitive tools made of stone and the ways of the people are savage. Savage isn’t the only thing special about the people though, because they have superhuman strength, jump higher than trees and punch stones. In short, they are able to cultivate their bodies. Despite all this, it is a real struggle to survive because of the scarcity of food. Together with Caesar, his pet wolf, he tries to survive in this cruel world.

3.5/5 Good in beginning, but not good enough for ending. I finished reading raws
Spoiler

1. Need adjust a Description of this novel, because "Shao Xuan" only together with Caesar in old land, but when He go to main land he only take "Caesar" only in his last journey (often with his bird "Cha-Cha"). And his most powerful pet is not Caesar too. (It is "Sapphire" a Beetle)

2. The story was no romance only his journey and fight. I only know he wedding with "Gui ze" at the ending, but I do not know, how they fall in love and have child.

3. No last boss lol. "Shao Xuan" never never fight with king beast. He only lure a Stone worn king and feed fire stone to Bat king.

The story is very good at the beginning phase. With jokes, amazing world building, unique and realistic character. Then its declining. There is no more funny joke at all. The story getting more and more slow, its become boring as hell. You can even skip 2/3 chapters for so much non sense explanation. AND the translator slow as hell, 2 chapters/week.. With its remaining -600 chapters to go, it will takes 300 weeks to finish this story, or about 5-6 years : (

The good thing is the story still unique... more>> and not so unbearable, poeple who loves slow phase story need to read this, well at least until you get bored and tired with the story and translator speed. The other thing is fine. <<less

In the action of the novel occurs in an interesting time period and the idea of the novel is not bad, but for 31 chapters (no longer mastered) we see only the stifling daily routine of the Stone Age, without interesting, gay, male, and female characters. There is no humor, interesting enemies and battles (obviously, a protracted beginning). It all boils down to the production of food (usually meat and fish, and after all, a hero from the present, could be engaged in agriculture and collecting sometimes.) Simply put, the... more>> novel is boring, at least at the first stage. The price of the novel is too high. <<less

One of the best novels on this site even with the quick ending, Great if you've read a good number of Asian novels and are tired of paint by numbers tropes and filler chapters and want something with a more western style of writing and pacing.

3 translators worked on this and the middle one isn't as good with changed names, try different sites for the best version, I picked a MTL site.

I hope there are more novels like this.

I underestimated this at the beginning because I'm too used to safe story with aloof ceo and innocent girl types. But this one, I regret I didn't read it sooner.

I like the story a lot, even though the story ended the world is still mysterious. It's not a world domination through advanced technology like any other primitive story it's about "coexistence" the world is parallel to this world yet vastly different even though the MC is transmigrator that came from modern day earth all of his knowledge from earth are not applicable to this new world where he transmigrated it's just "stone" world hence the title primitive. They didn't even discover iron until the end. MC isn't arrogant nor... more>> genius, just kind yet very dangerous. I like his interaction with some tribes like the "robbers" a group of braggers that think they are genius thieves especially "robber seven" "the cabbage thief"dude are so whacky. Until the end no one capture him. Chang Le's the trouble makers, the trolls. Power system isn't hard to understand it's just totem power or sigil (beginner, junior, advanced) came from they're tribal fire later merged to their flesh. The only thing that apart MC from rest is his "primordial flames" the original flame.

I liked it.

While it doesn't have many "WOW" moments, it also has close to no negative tropes.

MC is likeable, and there are no permanently offended young masters.

Definitely try it.

It's pretty good to pass time. I have some complaints about the latter chapters but the earlier chapters are good.

The most important one person in the novel, our MC is... kind of bland. He's kind of... I don't even know how to describe him as anything other than bland. He doesn't really emote much about any particular topic. He's not exactly interesting in his inner monologues either. It's a little better in the beginning because he's just been transported and it makes sense for him to act less jumpy. But... more>> he doesn't change much so the trait kind of becomes jarring. Oh, he also kind of always has things working out for him.

The thing I liked in the first half and hated in the second was the scenery. The first half had some pretty good exploration themes with the MC running around in this dangerous world with weird and unpredictable creatures. But the story eventually moves onto human settlements which are usually not even described half the time.

The other characters are kind of boring. I like the bird's and maybe like one guy's personalities but everyone else can just not exist and I would not be sad.

The title is kind of a lie, there was like one war that might as well have been a landslide.

The back part really drags the novel down. There was legit a filler part with a fish tribe that didn't advance any plot or convey new info. It really just felt like watching an unconnected cartoon episode.

My biggest complaint is actually how the MC doesn't use his cheat well. Or rather that the author gave him a really, really strong cheat and then realized that he f*cked up so he had to nerf the Mc's brain, making him forget about it's features.

Spoiler

The MC has the origin of all tribes' power and he can basically use it to become omnipotent by gathering the powers that have become specialized.

I was very entertained.

The end is a bit short/unsatisfying? But that is just a small anoyence.

I loved that there was no harem or anything! So refreshing!

The main character is definitely OP but not too obviously so, as he also had to flee at times and find another way around problems.

Very, very boring. It's difficult to put into words, but this novel pretty much does nothing that I like. It was hard to read.

The power system is outright bad. It's impossible to judge how strong the main character is. If that doesn't say something about how poorly it was thought out, then what does? Apparently, Shao Xuan was one of the strongest warriors in the Flaming Horns tribe once he returned from his visit to the other tribes. But I didn't know that, I had no idea that his strength... more>> had even increased at all. There's no mention of training, no mention of power progression.

The tribe building stuff is boring. I don't care about the Flaming Horns tribe at all. This isn't even a personal preference thing, I love kingdom building novels. This novel just does it poorly. It's not satisfying to read about the Flaming Horns tribe. Maybe I'm not far enough to get to the good part, but a novel should strive to be good from the start.

Also, the Shao Xuan's s*upid dog Caesar barely has a role to play. He gets name dropped in the description, but the wolf is useless and gets left behind for hundreds of chapters. Shao Xuan might as well have started with the eagle instead. <<less

This is truly a masterpiece, it's been a long time since I found a story as good as this, maybe there are a lot of flaws but overall this is a very satisfying story.

As for the plot, how should I say it, hmm.. So many plot twists, I personally have a hard time guessing the next plot when reading a part. The development of the world is great if you can visualize it, there are a lot of locations mentioned that give me a headache where they are so many.

Spoiler

Like the title of this novel, the background of the story is ancient times with magical elements. An MC who is in his 30s transmigrated into this world as a child (I forgot whether he was 7, 8, or 9).

[collapse]

Spoiler

He started his journey by awakening the tribal totem, hunting in the forest, traveling across rivers, meeting other tribes, migrating, traveling to other continents, meeting members of his tribe who were separated by a thousand years, uniting tribes, going through natural disasters, returning to his original location, gather allies, form alliances, fight enemies, win, and you're done. It's a shame there isn't a follow-up story, there are two extra chapters but they only focus on a child who is an MC's disciple.

[collapse]

Spoiler

For romance there is none at all, you could even say non-CP (which is my favorite). It is mentioned in the extra chapter that he is married and has 3 children. If you want to find stories about MCs going around conquering women, then this is not your portion. This story tells more about the friendship between fellow tribesmen.

[collapse]

Spoiler

Some things to note are first, the MC has never faced any danger that makes me very nervous except for the final chapters; secondly, there are too many characters and tribes, so it's hard for me to remember them all, but the advantage is that almost no characters just pass by; and the last thing I regret is the cliffhanger ending, even though I still want to see the development of their tribe.

[collapse]

Well but overall this is a story that really deserves to be enjoyed <<less

My god. This is gem. Once you get passed chapter 30-40 it won't be that boring anymore. The MC is not conceited and super op. The storyline is also quite refreshing. I totally recommend reading this is you're looking for something to pass time on a rest day.

The story was nice, I really enjoyed it a lot that I even wasted a lot of free time reading this than studying for the upcoming exam lol. Though the ending was unexpected and surprising, as well as a lil' bit disappointed because I expected a different ending for the MC, still it's quite acceptable. MC was still a human after all. I also like the fact that the Yi Ce live well.

Great story, it's a slow read but the character development and the creation of the scenes are very impressive. The whole story is very well done. The only negative imo is the ending is a bit rushed... still not sure how I feel about it. The story certainly could've gone for a lot longer.

So it took me a bit longer to finish this ln because I was caught up with other ones to read, but when I eventually finished it, I hoped that it wouldn't end. Theres a ton of untapped potential in the story and so a sequel would be an incredible idea, but I doubt the author has any intentions sadly. Overall the story is very unique and lives up to the rating unlike nearly all the other stories on this site. A great read filled with action and adventure and... more>> for the most part it kept my attention while all the ideas and characters were relatively interesting. One thing that this story lacks is romance so if you're looking for that then this wouldn't be the best choice. This story doesn't mainly focus on all the other characters though and heavily relies on the MC for about everything too. Also it was pretty rushed at the end but most stories do that anyways. Still a great read and I hope for a sequel. <<less

Extremely slow paced.

MC gets isekai'd into the stone age of some random world, and is brought up as an orphan in the tribe. The power system is non-existent. Everyone being stronger is as much as you really get. The tribe itself is a broken remnant of a long gone thing, with some relation to inner fire. If I'm being too vague, this novel isn't for you, as so is the novel.

Its a slow burn, seems to be a kingdom or civilization building series, with no opposition other than nature and... more>> starvation, and no real goal other than to not die. No romance either. <<less

I don't get why MC is making so much fuss about how the so-called traitor Dao Yu is a HUGE threat to his tribe and why he wanted to take so, so much risks just to kill him. MC wants to go into the mouth of tiger just to satisfy ?his tribe's pride. So so foolish. ~Chap 300

The way I see it, Dao Yu is just a cunning and struggling wandering descendant of their tribesmen who virtually have nothing to do with them anymore. He has no vital information about... more>> his tribe and is just a nobody except he killed several ?descendants from thousands of years ago (heck, all Chinese might be relatives too if you tracked them to thousands of years). He has already fled almost to the other end of the earth. I don't see how he can be dangerous except that he is quite cunning and smart. MC want to avenge his distant-tttt ?relatives and I can still understand. It is politics, hero, guardian or being a leader blah blah, right?. But here with so much fussing about a runaway black sheep, he just look like a fool with mental problems to me. If MC wants to kill Dao Yu just because he is cunning, then will he want to kill ALL smart people who MIGHT threaten his tribe? What a neurosis if he is. He should have many other better things to do like strengthening his tribe instead of going on wild goose chase to the ends of the world. <<less

It's really good, you can really feel the character and tribe progression both in power, culture and technology. It has some interesting arcs, where you really get inmersed and want to read non stop until the end of the arc to know how it ends.

Hmmm, what can I say ? It turned out a lot and I mean a lot different from what I had in mind. I thought it was a cultivation novel but it's not. Its more about MC going on different adventures and unlocking unknown secrets.

Hmmm, it's also a bit like slice of life of a stone age man.

Best way to describe this novel would be... imagine if humans existed in the same time period as dinosaurs.... the increase in oxygen level which leads to huge insects and reptiles and animals... more>> and weird plants also humans with super-human sense and strength. <<less
