Better than most novels. It isn't perfect, and there are most certainly many flaws, but it is definitely worth a read.

My only real complaints are:

-Too many r*pey antagonists.

-The scale of things is a bit too ridiculous sometimes, even considering it's xianxia. (10 million year old characters are described as young, for example).

- Pacing can be slow at times, mostly due to unnecessary filler.

Apart from that, this is a pretty solid read. MC's personality is likeable, plus there's some decent-ish romance in the mix.

the novel is not bad, just a bit average and sometimes boring, no serious plot holes, not much ups and no serious downs. Regular chains of enmity, that cannot be resolved, with bad characters being very bad and hotheaded young masters being easily offended, but that's still sounds logical.

sometimes MC is not egoistic enough to my taste, and 60% of his essence means 100% of his essence for some reason. Sometimes there are useless words and parts meant you want to skip, overall bland, but technically solid and consistent story... more>> with good descriptions of the structure of cultivation process and types of techniques involved.

there's not that much books without serious plot holes or inconsistencies, but don't expect anything original or any new emotions or crazy amazing worldbuilding wonders, characters are bland and world feels bland, not much amazement. I'd give it 3.5, guess 4 is fine. <<less

One of the best wuxia kind of story out there. Maybe a little predictable story line, but overall great development, fun characters and fun to keep reading till the end.

It is a good novel but not great. There are many parts I am unsatisfied about and many more that left a bad taste in my mouth. Cultivation and martial arts are great in this novel but romance or relations are as bad as it can be. Many important character was just forgotten just like their existence never mattered. The most infuriating for me was his way of handling the saints. the invasion and destruction of humanities was a plot took over a 1k chapters and built up many anger,... more>> frustration and expectation for revenge. but in the end he just defeated saint sovereign not even killing him and let off all the saints without touching their hair for what they did! just for the excuse of abyssals which suddenly jumped out from no where... In the end saints barely played any role. welp it is what it is. In the end I did enjoy the novel so that's what matters. <<less

I kind of feel like this is the platonic ideal of all the wuxia tropes combined into a single story. Alot of the criticisms of the story leveled in other reviews are definitely correct. Lin Ming is a total Gary Stu. Often a character will be described in great detail, be around for a chapter or two, then Lin Ming quickly moves on to the next stage and we never see or hear of that character again.

However! The world building is great. The prose and character descriptions/motivations are fairly well... more>> done. The characters are more fleshed out then most stories of this type. Alot of wuxia stories get a little too vague/nonsensical in their descriptions of fights and various cultivation powers that a cultivators have. Whereas, in this story it feels like the author keeps those things more grounded/understandable, which leads me to my final point. The author is good at drawing a picture of what is going on. You can clearly picture in your minds eye the scene and the action. Most stories of this type I quickly drop after a few chapters tops. But I persisted all the way to the end with this one. <<less

I give the novel 3 stars.

Overall, the novel is satisfactory. There are several points, which I find lacking.

Please be aware there might be (minor) spoilers below. I have tried to keep it in general terms.

Plot: The overall plot is ok (4 stars), although the ending seems a bit rushed (2 stars). There are also several points in the plot, which are confusing and contradictory. Further, even though Lin Ming says that he repays kindness and avenge evil, this is not always the case. For example, it is stated that he... more>> wants to help find a way to help a clan, but he does not do this. Another example, is the war, where I feel the author lets off the opponents too light compared to the atrocities they had done (Sa). A third example, is the sect of the friend, who helps him a lot in the earlier-mid part of the novel, is suddenly missing from the novel. Especially due to a certain mass invasion, it is unknown if they survived. From all this it looks like the author had a lot of ideas, but abanded them later on. At least the author could make a honorable mention to let the readers know if they perished or survived.

Translation: The translation starts out excellent (5 stars), but at the end the quality is lacking (3 stars). Further, there are many confusing statements - especially the cultivation system. For example, the terms ‘essence’ and ‘energy’ is used intermingly to describe two different things. Another example is the use of divine and the power od divine. This also causes confusion as it is not always clear if the context means soul divine or the god power divine (combination of essence, energy and soul). I dont know if these issues are due to the translators or the author.

And as always, there is a lot of filler. Sometimes you can skip whole chapters because you can predict the plot. Other times things are explained again and again, and sometimes things are explained one way in the start of the chapter and explained in another contradictory manner later in the same chapter. Sigh. <<less

It's 'okay' power fantasy when compared to all other aspects of this novel, so actually it's pretty bad.

MC - never looks for troubles, just wants to train in peace.

Every antagonist* - OMG HOW DARE HE THINK HE'S BETTER THAN GREAT ALMIGHTY ME!11!!

... more>> *-literal scum with over bloated ego that was only looking for a person 'to take offense' from.

That's literally the whole story. There are 'positive' character of course, except they only serve to add oil to the fire.

I'm exasperated at author's way of story building, as if he's trying to build a house using a shovel only.

As of c972 - I'm only continuing to read this solely because I want to follow the story through, not because it's interesting or anything. It's just a mess, not even a chapter into ascended realm arc and it's already same crap as in the beginning, complete copy-paste of twists and motives. I can confidently say that I can skip 90% of dialogues between MC and current antagonist without missing anything relevant to the story. Disgusting. <<less

The story has its ups and downs.

Overall the main character is likable. The character interactions are quite shallow and mostly pointless. For most of the story the biggest detriment is the development direction for his abilities, which randomly jumps from one focus to another.

... and then out of nowhere comes a sentient mind-talking r*pe-fetus guilt-tripping the victim father into forgiving the rapist mother. I think this is enough Martial World for now... or ever.

Lin Ming is one of my favorite main character, decisive and ruthless when needed.

The novel did not portray much on kingdom building since the MC mostly moves from place to place.

I forgot if there are funny parts on this novel since I've finished it on quite a while now.

I did not put a 5 rating on this one, since side characters that are suppose to be powerful gods, turn out to be just a drag where the MC has to force himself to power up fast, due to a fact... more>> that nobody can help him.

Overall it's pretty good, I loved it.

I recommend this one to the people who loved reading op MC.

The ending is not that good but it is still acceptable. <<less

I liked the start, I liked it when he was off exploring the asura road and some of the other realms. I even liked him cultivating on laws for tens of years. For some reason though, the big war was uninteresting and the end was anticlimactic and a little disappointing.

I also couldn't care less for any of his wives, but that's typical for these harem cultivation novels where any strong personality or opinions of their own vanishes as soon as they become the MCs women. I admit I skipped some... more>> chapters here and there towards the end because I had zero interest in that part.

Overall, I will probably read the first again at some point. It's certainly better than TMW, which suffered for an overabundance of tournaments and trailed loose ends all over the place. I would rate this a 3.5 if I could because its better than just ok, but it really doesn't deserve that four star because of the second half. In my view, it's a 4 for the first half, a 3 for the second, and a 2 for the end

Martial World (aka Tournament World) is better thought out than True martial world. Cultivation process itself is one of the main focuses and a lot of time is spend on training and breakthroughs chapters.

The MC is decribed as one with a perfect heart for martial arts, very high resolution to reach the peak. That is why I like him more in the beginning than later when this side of him is drowned by his harem.

Spoiler

He has a childhood friend the type he protects from bullies. And they basically promised each other'slove without explicitly saying it. The girl leaves him for a guy with better prospets so she could enjoy a better and longer life of 150+ years. When MC finds out he is dissapointed she renounced their love, but doesn't hate her because they weren't engaged and she did what a typical girl would do. This is actually good common sense, but later in the story the author revised his own words saying the MC wasn't brave enough to react to this "appropriatrly".

[collapse]

The plot is better in the first parts altough the immortal so-to-speak tropes are still dry for experienced readers. Aftter the first 2-3 arcs the enemies, acquaintances and anybody really just dissapear in a few chapters after their introduction which makes them easy to forget even for interested readers. I feel that the highlight of the novel comes actually later in the First Martial Meeting, a tournament that gathers all quadrilion (really) geniuses in the realm (this is not really a spoiler). Some interested characters are introduced but afterwards their development lacks.

I don't recomend reading this for those satieted with cliches. I only manage to complete it by jumping dozens of chapters at a time. <<less

I just feel like saying one thing: if there's ever a novel which earned the tag "Hiding True Abilities" it's this one.

Half the narrative consists of the protagonist Lin Ming figuring out how to plan things out so that he defeats X person, or completes X objective, while only revealing the abilities that he's calculated are safe for him to show without anyone catching on to their implications, or attracting the greed of some senior. He utilizes various abilities to various degrees in various situations in order to carefully manage... more>> his own safety.

All because the author made the decision to create a world where "having X strength at the Y realm" means that someone has the potential to reach Z realm and thus disturb the power balance in the sect/country/continent. Same with "being at X realm at Y age". Thus making it a taboo to be too strong or even cultivate too quickly.

But in the end it's still useless, because some crazy rapist/lecher who's at a higher realm or the son of someone at a higher realm will target the MC or one of his friends for absolutely no reason and then flip out and decide they've sown enmity with a future powerhouse and thus they MUST KILL HIM.

I'm making fun of this novel but it's actually quite enjoyable overall. It's a standard cultivation novel plot about a boy with a cheat treasure rising up in the world, but the author's narrative incorporates of lot of dramatic tension and analysis that mentally engages readers. <<less

Thank you for writing this novel enjoyed it quiet a lot, for me it's on par with MGA, love the plots, fights, lucky encounters, and the characters, everything is nice TBH, but there's one flaw that I just have to bring it up tho that is the MC, why? Because he's a little too lucky gotta minimize that, because if he's too luck the readers will think that in the next adventure/trip's/competetion the MC will always get's what he wants which is not good cause it will not be too... more>> exciting but overall it's good, but next time (this is just my advice) have a little more of kingdom wars or competitions or ROMANCE!! Right romance got to have to be like 3 chapters every 100 chapters (can you understand this? Haha) cuase that will be AWESOME! HAHAHA (cough.. Come down..) so thats all! God Bless! Readers. <<less

If you like reading novel that revolves around some mythical, cheat-like objects and somehow the MC obtained 1 of them in the beginning then this novel is really for you.

Overall it's a good novel with a good plot. But omg the writing is so long and unnecessary. What is written in 2260+ chapters can be finished in like 1700-1800s chapters. By the time you get to chapter 1300+ the author started writing in a way that you feel exhausted from reading. Basically the author talks about 1 thing, then he... more>> spends 2-3 paragraphs analyzing that thing. Cool I have no problem with it. But he keeps doing the same thing again and again that sometimes made me yelled out loud "Dude you just talked about this 4 chapters ago why are you repeating this again?". What makes it so funny sometimes is that the comment section in Wuxiaworld also noticed this type of writing and parodied it. Honestly I wanted to drop but the comments keep me going.

I understand that analyzing the text is something needed in the novel but this author just plainly abused this type of writing to extend words count, making it un-enjoyable to read. <<less

MC is good but this author desperately needs an editor. The writing is so repetitive and redundant. I'm still reading this since I'm invested already, except establishing chapters most if not all other chapters can be just glossed over and you won't miss a thing. The fight scenes were so disjointed since the author added these "conjecture thought bubbles". You sometimes forget they were in a middle of fight.

Most characters not allied with the MC of some sort behave like psychopaths and sociopaths.

I've read so much that I might as... more>> well loosely follow this work. The story arcs are almost exactly the same as the last ones. This work could be much better if this author got a copy editor. <<less

Watch as MC grows to an unparalleled level. Starting from nothing, to become some one people looked up to.

MC is dominating. Romance is not that good. But this story is about cultivation.

Struggle is not much unless MC is training. Good temperament. Ruthless and respectful. Kinda typical hero cliche, but nonetheless an interesting read.

... more>> Never bored to read, maybe because how MC is portrayed sometimes in the eye of bystanders. But sometimes getting too old to see time and time again the same reaction.

OVERALL: Good read, Helps me release some of my inner anger by channeling it through MC's ruthlessness against his enemies. <<less

A poor MC stumbles into a completely ridiculous cheat. It's standard fare, but the cheat is basically limitless knowledge from a higher tier of existence, so it's pretty s*upid. What follows is a gaggle of idiots that like to get offended over s*upid shit, aka our parade of 'villains', who then obviously get humiliated and swept away by our MC. Also, there's of course always a stream of comments from nameless onlookers that fawn over the MC and his newfound prowess. Cuz why wouldn't there. I don't know whether this... more>> novel gets better, but this is just... boring. <<less

It was a good novel for most of the time, but sometimes arcs stalled because of mini-arcs. Several characters are introduced at beginning of arcs, but completely forgotten after the completion of the arc. So, whenever new characters were introduced, allies or enemies, I started to skim throught their dialogue, because they will become irrelevant after the arc finishes. The main character ends up with a non-human companion later in the story, but I forget about the companion because the author rarely mentions him until plot armor. MC concluded his... more>> biggest arc, and the reason why he wanted to become strong. What next? Traveling to the next big kingdom with temporary companions? Enter another realm, rinse and repeat. <<less
