“In a land far to the east, there exists a strange store that has rejected a three Michelin star rating multiple times.

The prices are expensive. A combo set of soup and egg fried rice costs 288 RMB. Oh, I forgot it also includes a side dish of pickles. Even so, very many people line up to wait.

That place does not accept reservations. It only lets in people who are waiting in line there. Countless people make special trips to line up there. Of course, there’s nowhere to park planes or cars.

Their service is so terrible, the customers have to serve their own dishes and grab their own bowls and chopsticks, and they even have to wipe down their own tables! God, the boss is simply crazy.”

I seriously underestimated this novel. I should apologise to the author. This novel is a delight to read. The story has a nice flow to it and you'd be left with a nice feeling after awhile. I recommend this to everyone who likes a nice slice of life story.

What makes this web novel great is reading the reactions of the side character to the food the main character serves and the main character's attitude towards them as customers. Furthermore, it's nice seeing the point of view from the side-characters.

Now, if we take a step back, we begin to realize that the downfall of this novel is that the novel calls him a chief but he is only a food assembler. For example, he prepares the ingredients all according to what the system tells him and doesn't experiment at... more>> all with making food. In fact, the reason why the food is so great is not because the main character knows how to cook, rather it is because he knows how to follow a recipe, he use godly cooking appliances, and he uses out of this world food ingredients.

In conclusion, the side character reactions are good enough for me to read this novel and the pacing and writing are good. It is simply the main character being handed everything to him and not learning a thing that is my issue with the novel. I also feel as the chapters go on, he would not grow as a character nor will he have anything truly be an obstacle for him. <<less

Wow, this is a great start to another food based novel! Highly recommended. Give it a shot.

This story is just getting started so it is a bit early to judge the MC and character/plot development.

But so far I really like how the food system is unique and OP, while also having many severe limitations to balance it out. The personality of the characters really start to draw you in as you read further.

Granted while it does get a bit repetitive this can be typical of a slow starting Chinese novel... more>> in order to build up the story. I have been searching and waiting for something like this story! A must read for foodies. <<less

I'm enjoying this one so far. There's a good setup for the main character's circumstances prior to the arrival of the "system", and the laid back pace goes well with the subject matter. I like the focus on the characters, the author gives the backstory of relatively minor characters like the early customers. I'm curious to see if that trend continues. The restrictions of the system make for some entertaining moments, and despite seeming overly restrictive and somewhat arbitrary have their own rationale.

I dock a point for some of the... more>> qualities of the "system": namely that he doesn't have to work AT ALL in order to learn the dish (es).

EDIT: The more I read, even though some of the system bothers me, I'd give it a 4.5 if possible. Still not worth being rounded up to a 5, regardless of how much I enjoy reading it. <<less

Rather than one grand request to reach the top of culinary world, gourmet food supplier is more to daily, slice of life kind of story. Basically MC got op cooking system that provide best ingredients, then slap other chef's face because it's mandatory in chinese novel. Several heartwarming scene here and there+ tsukomi with the system. Lots and lots of description about food. Really delicious food. Food that's since I have eaten them since childhood, I know doesn't taste as good as it's potrayed in the novel. (Like really, the... more>> sweets made from sugar and rice would basically taste the same no matter how good the ingredients you use). I know that it's to be expected from a cooking novel, but man, it sure does takes away some of my enjoyment from reading the novel. It's a good novel to pass your time.

The premise of the story is restricted by one thing: the cooking system. The MC simply do what the system has given to him. While the MC do retain his cooking skill outside of the system, he just never really step out of his comfort zone (aka the shop). Really logical since the system has given the MC all that he needs, but that also means you won't find any character growth. <<less

This is a good novel first of all I like the fact that this CN doesn't have anything to do with cultivation its a really nice change of pace, and somehow the MC reminds me of Meng Hao.

This feels like "God of cooking", but with a less serious tone.

The MC receives a gift in cooking, along with superb quality ingredients, but he is really lazy, and the system that gives him all of that is having fun imposing weird rules upon him (like not being able to sell the same dish twice in the same meal to the same person).

It ends up giving a very "light novel" feel to the story, with cheesy things everywhere and very little care about respecting real world things at all.

If you... more>> wanted a novel about real world cooking, this is not it, but if you just want a light comedy with a cooking theme, then there is a bit of fun to be had. <<less

Honestly, MC isn't as entertaining by himself making the start pretty dull at best.

But when you add in his customers personalities and the hilarious narration of the author, you get a wonderful blend of lively colors.

The characters are very much alive and have their own unique quirks (as each character feels so different from each other) and the author's way of telling the story is so damn funny.

Darn it, ok fine, it was fun. I was doubtful of the novel description (... is the MC just gonna make egg rice every chapter?!) and it's not one of those dramatic/world building novels. Basically the MC somehow got a cooking system inside his head that allows him to make awesome food, but he has to level up and the first level is egg rice.

The plot (cooking system) is a bit sketchy at some point, no world building or dramatic plot or love life so far. It's just a fun... more>> and lighthearted read, take it as such and you will enjoy it. <<less
