I'm writing this a couple of months after reading the last few arcs & it was a total disappointment in the end. Sure it was a happy ending but even up to now, I'm like, that was it? How did the author even came up with the title? Are there going to be short/side stories? For the way it ended, I'll revise my rating to 3.

This could have earned 4.5 ratings at most from me based on the latest translated chapters and a 5 rating if it's about the... more>> ML and his son but am apprehensive based on the spoilers that I've read. I started reading this because of the synopsis but as I've read the spoilers 1000 chapters on and it hasn't reached that development yet.
Spoiler

Other than that if I didn't misunderstood the adopted sister is still on the story 1000 chapters and beyond. She's such an annoying character that if that's how it's going to be (the MC still haven't dealt with her yet) I'll probably be frustrated with the MC. Sure, the MC might have done some face slapping but if the sister has the opportunity to scheme afterwards it just means that it wasn't enough and that just kills the story for me. She was introduced on chapter 1, if I am not mistaken and to have her linger throughout 1000+ chapters, and on the starting chapters she's already so vicious, having turned the MC's parents against her, plotted against her and I believed despite it not going strictly as how she planned it technically the MC was still r*ped because she was so drunk or drugged when she had s*x to whom she taught was her first love, the one she loves was stolen by her sister (both are scums so I don't really give a damn). What decent guy would be mad at you because you can't forgive the one who plotted to have you r*ped? And he had the audacity to continue to appear in front of her to give advice as if he's a nice guy. How evil could the sister be to appear til 1000ish chapters? I mean it's fine to appear still but to be given the chance to scheme against her is beyond me. Can't the MC deal with her or keep away from her at the very least? She did awful things to the MC and the MC still had to join the same company where that damned witch is. It should have been fine if she had no other choice or if she's going to give consecutive face slapping but it's as if she's doing it to be stepped on. Haven't she suffered enough under her sister and family? If she doesn't have sufficient strength to go against them yet and deal with them with certainty of victory why does she needs to be within their grasp? The theory that you have to keep your enemies closer is only appropriate if you're more than enough to handle them or you're about the same level. Sure enough she knows what she wants but it's as if she's purposely bidding her time to get there and leisurely getting bullied or plotted against along the way. And though she get's protected by the ML behind the scenes having put her self up for attacks over and over, I can only conclude that she has a very strong [b]dao[/b] heart and maybe partly a masochist. I prefer MCs who does the bullying or retaliates not just stop the villain's plan.

A nice novel, with many twists and turns as well as funny moments.

The best part of the novel is: Little bun, of course!

I have read 500+ chapters of this novel in Chinese.

A brief summary:
The female lead (Xi), is someone who is being ill-treated by her own 'cinematic' family. Her father (surnamed Ning), a producer, favors the adopted daugher (Xuelo) --- whom they had thought was their own for a long time --- over his own daughter. Even after realising that Ning Xi was his own flesh and blood, he... more>> still insults her and tries to put her down below Xuelo because they consider Xuelo as their daughter.

As if that is not the end of her troubles, five years before the start of the story, Ning Xi was drugged and had s*x and became pregnant. Upon giving birth, she was told her son had died... She begins on the path to revenge in the same industry her parents are.

Now we go to the male lead... the cold, ruler of the business world, the rich Mr. Lu TingXiao (or the Demon King Lu as Ning Xi calls him). Xi meets Tingxiao, when she is saved by his son, whom she first befriends when he gets locked up alone. As a reward, Tingxiao says he will offer himself to Ning Xi, but she isnt keen.

The son of Mr. Lu, whom Xi befriends, is a kid with very high intellect but because of his young age (and shall we say his cold father, too?) has social issues and thus Ning Xi was asked to move in and help look after Little Treasure (name of the son). Ning Xi, who doesnt like being around kids after having lost her own son, becomes very fond of Little Treasure and vice-versa. But, the Mr. Lu, who doesn't believe in love or lust, finds himself deeply attracted to Ning Xi and helps her wherever possible.

The story revolves around the following---
who was that mystery man she had s*x with? It was not the person intended by the girl who had drugged Ning Xi.
what happened to her child actually? did he really die?
who is that evil YS who sends her gifts, that makes Ning Xi nervous and discomfited?
.......... and....... who is Little Treasure's mother? Mr. Lu remembers he was drugged and forced into s*x with someone a few (cough.. five.. cough cough) years ago... and Little Treasure was the result of that. but who was it?, he doesn't know!

The characters such as Lu Jingli (Mr. Lu's young brother) who is a happy-go-lucky chap who wants to help his brother and nephew and is quite smart, a family friend (adopted as nephew to the Mr. Lu) Jiang Muyue who also likes Ning Xi, and the mother and father of Mr. Lu also contribute to the humorous scenes in the story. <<less

This was a really fun read! Brought my plenty of tears but every single step was worth it! It does feel a bit rushed near the end, but the author properly closes and ties up any lose ends so to me, that's enough. Characters are very loveable too so that's also a plus.

Mary Sue. MC is totally overpowered. She's perfect at acting, can get other actors to mess up or to be suddenly really good when acting with her. She's good at video games, super fast on a motorbike, amazing at cooking...

When ML and little bun meet her, they instantly follow everything she wants, like little chicks imprinting. She is the only person in the world they act warm to. I didn't read to the end, but little bun is obviously her child, so he must have recognize her by her dna... more>> ¯\_ (ツ) _/¯

Anyway, clichés on top of clichés, I don't have the courage to read anymore when I KNOW EXACTLY what is going to happen. The author decided to add lousy plot on top to stretch the story for as long as she could and honestly, it is 2000 chapters too long.

Since I already know the whole story, the only reason I am staying is for the face slapping and it doesn't deliver. MC never says anything! She is just watching other interact and wait for it to be over. They face slap themselve... She is the most uninteresting character ever.

Also, I think the story was supposed to end around chapter 350, because the childhood friend was waking up to reality after his accident. He wasn't blindly listening to his girlfriend anymore when she was framing the MC! Which is why, she couldn't use him to wash her reputation white by getting engaged, it was a serious situation for her. But then we forget about them, and next time we see them, he is the one planning to propose! And the acting crew disliked the villainess at that time, but later they are naturally on her side? Why have they all been brain washed!? I haven't!

All the bad guys are brain dead, they listen to the villainess stating her side of the story even when they were witnesses to everything, and still pity and side with her...

I am so disappointed to have read this story, I lost so much time I could have spent reading something way better...

Spoiler

Also, I read somewhere that the MC used to be a killer. Before chapter 400, she didn't want to be with the ML because she didn't want him to know she got r*ped and gave birth to a stillborn. Funny she wouldn't care about her previous occupation first!

TLDR: It's a soap opera in book format. If you like that sort of thing you might like to try just watching a season of days of our lives, Dallas, or Falcon Crest.

Translation: 5/5

Writing: 4/5

Plot: 2/5

Characters : 2/5

World Building: 3/5

wasn't a horrible read. There's just an event in the later [arts of the book that killed all momentum. Also for a novel with revenge in the summary it's not really there and what it has is not very satisfuing

Honestly I'd like to see this redone from the villainess POV

Little Bun is a gem and I gave one more star just because of him. This novel is problematic af: h*mophobia, r*pe, s*xual assault, dubious consent, machismo and the plot is all over the place.

Spoiler

The FL was just an actress but at some point she we discover she was a gangster and the most sought hired killer in the worlds at some point of her life??? If it was written in a way that made sense, I wouldn't mind but it literally came from nowhere.

TLDR; Dude, no. Just... no.

Wow, I avoided this web novel for the longest time because I felt iffy about the storyline but I'm glad that I finally gave it a go. The MC is the most unrealistic female character (beautiful and good at everything) that I've ever come across in the fictional world. But I'm secretly thrilled. It's like my fantasy came true if I was in her situation. Kidnapped? No problem. She's a sharpshooter and skilled in fighting. Her status not good enough for ML? No problem, she's actually the secret granddaughter of... more>> the most aristocratic family.

It really should have been called "Hidden Relationship".

Spoiler

MC lives with ML in the beginning for 3 months because after rescuing ML's son, Little Treasure, the son becomes very attached to the MC. ML proposes marriage right away but MC declines. MC has what we call noble idiocy. They start to officially date around Ch 668 when MC finally admits that she likes ML. They get married in Ch 1769 while MC is in a coma. They come out as a married couple before (at ML's birthday party and when the Ning family accuses MC) but they officially come out as a couple in public in Ch 2149. So as you can see, with 2165 chapters, 80% of the story, there aren't even married so the title is pretty misleading.

[collapse]

I've actually never met a ML with so many love rivals, lol. MC has quite a few ex-boyfriends (none that are serious) that pops up as well as legions of fans (both male and female).

What I liked best about this story is that MC doesn't need ML to take care of her really. She can take care of the majority of the issues she comes across and ML respect her for that so he doesn't really interfere. The only thing he does is take care of the aftermath (like bankrupt or wipe out people who's tried to harm MC). <<less

First time writing a review because I just coudn't help it!

Anyway, let's get this started.

Alright, so first of all, I absolutely loved this novel. The fact that I'm already at chapter 900 proves that this novel kept me hooked (as I'm the type of person who will immediately drop it if it's not interesting enough!). The storyline is very interesting although it's your usual actress-CEO pairing, it's still something kinda different.

The female lead is a strong, extroverted ambitious woman. She is very career-minded and hard working. She has her own... more>> flaws but yeah, overall she is amazing. Not your typical damsel in distress type.

The male lead is this super handsome rich as hell CEO who no-one can stand a chance against because he is way out of anyone's league (cliche but I'm not complaining ?) .
Spoiler

He is really really possessive over the female lead and gets jealous of literally anyone and anything haha. But he's a reasonable guy and doesn't cross his limits. You may find some of his actions questionable at the beginning but trust me, it gets better.

[collapse]

And how can I forget our cute little bun? He is like the softest and cutest person in this novel. Arghhh I love all the chapters where he is present! Please read it for him!

Lastly, the antagonists freaking suck. This novel consists of So many tr*sh irrelevant characters who just keep coming back to annoy and ruin your mood. Probably why I gave this novel just four stars (*edit- ill give it five stars cuz I love the bun family too much!) No wait, it's also because of the author's tendency to put in too many filler chapters and completely deviate from the actual storyline.

I'll say the first half is amazing and the second half could have been better. The bun family interactions are the cutest. And the chemistry is a 100! Overall, the novel is pretty likable. <<less

While on my quest to find novels with more meaningful interactions, I ran into this gem of a story. Female lead goes through some really shitty stuff at the start of the novel, but she doesn't let that get in the way. With her own effort, she has tried to become successful in movies regardless of her family's interference. The "little bun" gets attached to her really quickly and becomes super possessive... his father gets even more possessive. All in all, it's a fun story to read with minimal encounters... more>> with super b*tchy people commonly found in these types of novels.

P.S part of the reason I'm writing this review is so that it would 20 :P I look forward to the extra release. <<less

This novel is a really fun read, I recommend giving it a try if you're looking for a romance novel from a female MC's point of view.

The MC starts in a bit of a ruined/disadvantaged state, having gone through romantic trauma before, but is resolute in forging a new future for herself. She returns from abroad determined to make it big in the entertainment business. What I like about this MC is that she is proud and independent and overcomes problems with her own strength and smarts, not completely relying... more>> on a man. Her determination earns her respect and interest from the cold male lead, though she is completely oblivious to this fact.

The surrounding cast has a variety of colorful flavors. The male lead has to compete with his own six-year old son for the MC's affection (and loses hilariously all the time). The male lead's little brother is the loyal ninja that tries to get his "master" and "mistress" together, to the ire of his brother. While the enemies surrounding the MC aren't particularly developed and rather one-dimensional, they add enough movement to the plot to cause the MC to have more interesting interaction with the main cast.

The translator does a solid job of making this novel easy to read. Once you learn the names (often the challenge of a Chinese novel), the rest of the text is edited so that it flows well in English.

The chapters aren't particularly long, making this a fairly quick read per chapter, but the translator is consistent on a near daily basis, making this a worthwhile addition to a reading list. <<less

There's one thing that I absolutely adore in this story is the MC's personality. I've read a lot of strong females who are fierce and intelligent, enough to straightforwardly defeat her enemies and obstacles. Most of these characteristics patterns are set to be a little bit obtuse since their femme-fatales can't seem to be considered human anymore with their unworldly abilities and skills. But with this MC, I can feel a deep connection with her. I love how the author intricate a character that sets up in a modern timeline... more>> where people have definite issues in family, love and career.
Spoiler

The MC was being bullied and as someone who knows her situation (well as a reader, I jest) I would love if she put them in place like how I am used to with so many female protagonists that I've encountered. But the author realistically based her emotions, actions and persona that in surprised I'm not even mad that the author only made the MC ignore the haters.

And in the sense I wouldn't see her reaction as weak or too condensing but as a mature way of dealing with problems. Like I'm literally feeling from this MC is an ideal career-centered woman on her way to success! It's seems the author has put a lot of abundance in MC's development. Also it's a consistent factor too. The MC is totally focus on her goals which our Male Lead is having hard time trying to gain her favor since MC has already built up the anti-love wall subconsciously. But you can't help it but cheer him all the way though along his tiny rival too, Little Bun!! Hahaha, yes he's a rival in a platonic sense they are both fighting to have her affections though.

But anyway, there are more male leads coming in MC's life. It's really funny how she has to confront these exes and newsies coming at her way like a torrent. Her interactions with them are legit funny. You'll never get enough and just binge the whole chapters through

[collapse]

I'm really addicted to this story and I am tempted to directly go to source raws just to satiate my desire to know more of it. But the translations have done an amazing job publishing the chapters. I've expected nonetheless from the translation group who has introduced me to my other favorite English-Chinese translated novels that I've fell in love!! Thanks for the great job! So just in my opinion and taste (not personally push my liking to anyone else), it's worth the wait for other updates to arrive. As someone who barely understands Chinese and who would rely on google transtor for whatever sentence that it could manage to perceive, it's way easier practicing patience than getting frustrated over an app that could not translate things on point. Besides, translators seem to love it that they sporadically feeds the fishes (readers) with new desserts (chapters) !!

P.S. I forgot to give ratingssss!!! So embarrassing! Anyway, it deserves so much praise that I'm giving it 5.0 starrrs!! <<less

This is really really really good, the romance is fantastic but boy is it slow, if you are here for the romance come back like a few hundred chapters later please, but the female character is very optimistic and talented despite everything that happens to her, and the little bun is the cutest human being on this earth, honestly just read it for little bun. I love the male character, he loves the female character so much and all the subtle hints and nice things he does for her are... more>> so sweet. I warn you, this is rollercoaster and everything than can possible happen happens in this novel, but it's still one of my favourite novels b/c I just love little bun so much :) <<less

I really like this. It's a strong female MC. She is the type who keeps getting back up even though they keep trying to smack her down, but at the same time, she does have vulnerability and has moments where she feels like things are overwhelming, which makes her more relatable. Little Bun is soooo cute (and spoiled as all get out). I'm amused by Big Bun's stoic-ness. And Future Bun-in-Law is a riot

Loving it

A rising gem.

I have only read like 30 chapters and I'm loving it. The story is never boring. I like that this isn't about reincarnation. The protagonist is the one who suffers and the one who rises up.

Cutess overload.

Little bun and Big bun is probably the best part. You will get to see how they show their love towards our female MC.

Been years since I finished reading this novel, but I just remembered that I have not yet leave a review here. So, here we go.

Ngl, this is the first CN that I finished reading from start to finish, waiting day by day for updates by the translator on webnoveil.

So, this leave me quite a strong impression as after finishing this story I couldn't finish any other stories of the same genre because it's too 'meh' for me.

Ning Xi (MC) is a strong woman, yet gentle to those who give her... more>> warmth. I love her interaction with Xiao Bao, the cuttie bun. And of course, I love her interaction with our overbearing CEO, Lu Tingxiao.

Idk, it's just a great story for me. Fluffy enough, angsty enough, and of course comedic enough (ft. Lu Jingli the best wingman & Jiang Muye the ex turned niece). I love almost everyone on this novel.

Yet this novel has it's own weakness, in the shape of it's villain/ess group.

Anw, I enjoyed this novel so much. <<less

A story of a strong female character, a cold strong male character as a father and an adorable little ancestor (little bun). Watching the clash between strong characters in a difficult background makes for a great story. The characters are well developed by the author and the translation is clear putting across the message clearly. I LOVE THIS NOVEL. I kinda wish I found it a year later because then there would be over 100 chapters for me to binge read. I really can't get enough. To the translator, thanks... more>> for the good work and giving us a great novel to follow. Keep it goin <<less

Difficult to believe why this novel is rated so highly and so popular. I get it, the premise is quite cute. A female MC is bullied and accidentally gets pregnant with a big-shot god-like CEO man with a icy-cool personality and genius intellect, blah blah.

I will admit it. I also enjoyed some of the scenes in the beginning with the female MC, her 5-year-old son (she doesn't know yet), and the father (she doesn't know yet). But the problem is right there, everybody knows it already. Everybody who reads a... more>> few chapters knows it already but we are asked to read 2000+ chapters to reach a foregone conclusion.

It is an utter waste of time once you realize that the plot has no other redeeming qualities except for the primary premise. The whole book is just chasing around in circles and endless circles around will-they won't-they, whether the various characters will discover the truth about this or not.

At some point, you will just say "screw it" and skip to the last few chapters just to read the inevitable happy ending. Everything that happens in between is utterly inconsequential. <<less

3.5 Stars.

This novel is seriously frustrating, because it could easily be 5 stars if not for some completely unnecessary parts of the story.

SPOILERS:

So the main problem in this novel is that there seems to be a ridiculous subplot that was totally unnecessary and distracted from the story rather than added to it. Which can be pretty common in novels and I'm not usually so harsh about it, but this subplot became SO prominent it ended up overtaking the main plot just out of ridiculousness. I'm not sure exactly what the... more>> author was trying to accomplish, honestly, because none of it was necessary.

For those of you who don't mind be spoiled:

Spoiler

Our main character, who is already ridiculously perfect (master chef, loving mother, skilled race car/motorcycle driver, master sharpshooter, talented actress, and of course, incredibly beautiful...) somehow managed to spend 5 years in America and end up as an elite in an incredibly dangerous gang. While, I would like to point out, she also mastered acting while graduating from SoCal, got those sharpshooting skills, earned a freaking black belt, acted in several smaller films, went through guys like water just so she could dump them, and lured guys with girlfriends out of bars to beat them up for being tr*shy cheaters. It's freaking insane - there is literally not enough time in the day for all of that to get accomplished in just 5 years. But what is even more absolutely insane is that our MC manages to get herself kidnapped by an Italian mobster in the heart of Philadelphia (which is apparently the most dangerous city in America????). At which point, her yandere ex-gang boss shows up to kidnap her back to his place, using snipers, helicopters and a FREAKING TANK. Again, in the heart of Philadelphia. BUT that isn't even the end of it!!! No, our ML actually shows up, and uses the threat of removing his investment money to force some random diplomat to give him control over US military JETS, TANKS, and a freaking PLATOON of men. Which are deployed, again, to PHILADELPHIA. What the absolute hell.

For those who may not be from America and aren't aware... this is literally, actually, impossible. First of all, it would take a national level threat with Presidential level authority to authorize the use of military forces like this in US borders. And there is absolutely NO WAY something like this could happen without immediately being broadcast on national news. Not to mention, tanks are freaking HUGE and HEAVY. I don't know, the author may not be familiar with them, but anyone who has any knowledge of tanks should know that they can't just start driving down the street like a car! Not to mention, it's not like there's a surplus of tanks hanging out in random cities! They're stationed at very specific military base locations, and they aren't going anywhere unless someone with military authority orders them to, trust me.

Putting aside the completely false information and insults towards America - which I can accept, as China is clearly a rival nation and there's a lot of influence through the media - the absurdity of it all was just too much! It was literally so ridiculous it completely kicked me out of the story line!

[collapse]

What's the most frustrating, is that this would be such a good novel without all that mess! Our MC doesn't need any of that! She's funny, talented, kind, and has more than enough reason to have PTSD, trust issues, relationship issues, etc., etc. There's more than enough material for her to face personal, familial and career challenges without resorting to insanely unrealistic storylines.

Even the other characters are really good! Our ML is the cold, all-knowing, all-powerful CEO type, BUT he's also really sweet, direct, and funny in front of our MC and a good dad. Our ML's brother is hilarious and loyal, and the little boy is freaking adorable and yet obstinate. There's an army of love rivals of course, but they never really make a dent on our MC, they're actually played around by her a lot.

Honestly, it would have been such a great story if it would have stuck to it's original story line!

UGH. I could keep going, but this is long enough so I'll end the rant here. I just sincerely wish authors would realize that it's better to make a good story with strong plot lines than unnecessarily make long story lines that ruin their original good work T_T <<less
