Shao Xuan joins a friend in his expedition to a recently discovered archaeological cave. After he picks up an ordinary looking stone he is teleported to a different world and wakes up in the body of a small orphan child. The world he is in now is still in its stone age with primitive tools made of stone and the ways of the people are savage. Savage isn’t the only thing special about the people though, because they have superhuman strength, jump higher than trees and punch stones. In short, they are able to cultivate their bodies. Despite all this, it is a real struggle to survive because of the scarcity of food. Together with Caesar, his pet wolf, he tries to survive in this cruel world.

Great read. Great story. Great characters. Odd ending but that's okay, it was still nice to read, even without romance.

Score 4.1

An underrated and overlooked novel.

The MC is street smart and the world building great. The author consistently manages to make you think, "okay... where is this going..."
Fairly different from most CN novels and quite interesting. A negative is that it's slow at first but picks ups later.
However, because the story is so different from your usual CN webnovels, if you have read many CN-novels this will feel good reading.

Spoiler

A plus is that there is no romance so far, while a negative is that there isn't a single strong female MC yet due to the setting.

Solid read. For now nothing bad can really be say about the story since it is still world building right now (chap 31). I could say that the prologue was too long but then again the nine cauldron set the bar for me so...

What a long journey ! At the beginning, the MC was just a child who wanted to survive and we follow how he grows from a weak child without attachment to a powerful man with responsabilities and a tribe.

The world building is very good in my opinion, it's another world with it's own rules and all phenomena don't need to be explained so there's no pseudoscience or loopholes because of this. Additionally the plot is great, the details are good and there are foreshadowings. Example one information given is used... more>> like 100 chapters later or the MC said a sentence in the early part that you understand only in the last chapter. Also the descriptions were not too long but enough to imagine (I really don't like when you read ten sentences just to describe one building).

One point you might or not like is the lenght of the story. It's very long, really. It's rare for me to read something this long but I was grabbed by the story, it was interesting and different from my usual reading. The MC is appealing and you want to know what will happen next, you know that he will success but it's interesting how he will do.

So I recomend this novel, try it and if it's not to your taste, don't force yourself, it's too long for that. <<less

It's so good. I just want a sequel of this novel. No romance but it made the story so well. I just love this type of really long novels with no romance. And I want more.

I just read it out of boredom. But I can't put it down. I read it from start to finish in three days. I never want it to end.

i stop reading at chapter 833 and just left 13 chapter unfinished. The author just keep rambling on about betting/gambling on many chapters to extend word counts. The whole story is so underwhelming and it felt like I wasted my time reading this.
MC never used his knowledge from modern society. Except once detailed in 2 lines but irrelevant to the story- and that thread is forever forgotten never mentioned again. And why bother making this an isekai? The MC dont use his intellect and he has become op in... more>> no apparent reasons.
he had made an dung bettle s*ave that can destroy an army. Making s*aves is his most op skill- but never use that skills again except on domisticated animals because of "reasons". A normal human being will naturally look for advantage in war but not this mc- wordcount is the first priority. Reduntant and waste to many words. The author describes an event in different ways making the description redundant, it can really break a readers immersion.. <<less

A novel worth to have its own illustrated and animated versions.

Think about HunterxHunter but in a primitive setting era. The novel focused more on its protagonist, which is an OP character just like any other protagonist that Lazy Cliche did, with the most amazing world plot ever. Unlike Superstars of Tomorrow, a novel from same author, this time the author did his best to tackle every single thing and brilliantly introduces new sub-plots to answer everything that readers would question in the story.

I am not sure what chapter I am... more>> now because I tried reading the mtl versions and goodness me, it was horrible. I can't understand the whole story so I am waiting for translators to do this difficult job. In short, I gave up reading it.

Back to the topic, I just want to congratulate Lazy Cliche for creating his best work so far. This novel deserves more than just a novel. I hope it gets more attention. Personally, I've read solo levelling's novel and completed it, but I liked this more.

The protagonist is unlike the other OP character that they just do what they want. This character is humble and not arrogant. It respects people to be respected but also be a savage to his enemies. The author did well and invested a lot to this character unlike the protagonist in Superstars of Tomorrow where he kind of just ignore some of the great things his character possesses.

I don't have anything against it. By the way, there's no romance which makes me respect the author a lot. He didn't force a love story in this because it is not needed. I love how he also respected the other side characters. He put effort to build the important people in a tribe during the primitive times and gives them respect. He also takes his time into introducing new things in the story which makes this novel interesting and not boring in the middle.

It's worth effort to binge read. I read this all in 2 days, not sleeping at all. 100% recommended. <<less

I honestly don't know why people rate this so high. It starts off nicely enough, with a good setting and a lot of teasing of coming depth, but there is no pay off and it soon becomes apparent that awkward contrivance is the only answer the author has to explain the plot and the mysteries set up in the beginning.

Eventually you realize that there aren't ever going to be satisfying answers to anything and the promised depth isn't real. The cultivation system is tacked and and so childishly simple its... more>> explained completely in the first few chapters. The world is flat and never seems alive outside the first arc, and the main character fails utterly to develop a personality. The lack of awkward romance that was refreshing at the start soon becomes symbolic of the main characters complete inability to become attached to anything that isn't the shiny plot point the author dangles in front of him to further whatever plot is happening at the moment.

Pass on the novel. You will just end up disappointed. <<less

Nothing else to say but that this novel series is amazing! It had the lucky OP MC but he's very calm, intellectual, and has leadership qualities that aren't like Korean novels' usual dictatorship mode. The side characters are also well thought of and they will have their uses and appearances. I love the other novels by the same author and this one is one of my favorites!

The story starts of slow. Like real slow. You got to be patient with it. The MC is not going to be kicking ass and being the sh*t until you go at least a 100 chapters in. However, the wait is worth it as the first few dozen chapters are necessary for setting up the background of the world and engrossing you in it. Give it some time. Skip it if you are really impatient and need a adrenaline high.

After you get pass the slow start, sh*t starts getting lit. The MC develops into a badass in a slow and entertaining way, as he explores the strange world of this prehistoric society. There always seems to be a backdrop of mystery surrounding the entire society, where things are not what they seem. As the author slowly reveals the background, that is where you will get some "oh shit" moments.

However, the novel starts trailing a little as the story goes on. While the settings may differ, it starts to feel somehow similar (can't get into more details without spoiling) and you cannot help but feel the author is dragging a little at some times. This is why the novel does not get a 5 stars. The author did not sustain that "oh shit" moments and, well, starts to make me lose interest in the novel. The author needs to get better at pacing.

Overall, above average compared to usual Chinese webnovel drivel that I have been shoveling down my throat. <<less

Premise is new as MC goes back into the primal ages with nothing but a child's body. Luckily he has his wits to try to make a living. Wrong. What starts off as the MC using his knowledge to try to survive in the tough stone ages falls down into wuxia fantasy as he is given op strength compared to other children. His otherworldly knowledge is only slightly useful in trying to figure out the mystery of the world he is in but still he doesn't really need to be... more>> from the modern world.

If you like battle fantasy give this a try but as for me, its 2 stars only in that it has no complexity nor story at all and just falls into battling creatures. <<less

So far, its interesting. I'm enjoying it so much that I don't really have anything negative to say and all the positives have already been said by others.

What little I'll say right now, is that I don't mind that theres no romance happening; because I honestly think it is not needed yet. Also, the action scenes aren't really there but overall, this is an exciting read because its... different.

Above all, I like that the MC isn't s*upid.

This is probably one of the better Chinese novels that I have read recently. I won't go too much into why this is such a good novel since it has already been pointed out by everyone else, so I'll mention the cons, and some of the things I was dissatisfied with.

At one point in the story, the power levels and the way the combat was described just stood still. It felt like everyone was pretty much a high-level totem soldier and the only difference was in brute force. Describing any... more>> more would likely lead to spoilers so I'll just say that around chapter 400 practically every other tribe was just a straw dummy.

Many of the characters that were integral at the beginning, or others that had personality and gave the story a different feeling became unimportant and bland as the story went on. While it was impossible for these characters to have the same kind of impact they did at the very beginning, it would have been nice to see that they were little more than just bad side-kicks. The lack of romance was a serious disappointment but this was something I had already expected from reading the comments. The only ray of sunshine in all of this is the 'after story' chapter that gives the readers the answers they wanted. There are a couple of other things I disliked, but to keep this short I'll just say what disappointed me the most- the abrupt ending. This novel looked around 2/3 finished at around chapter 800, but suddenly 10 chapters later it started moving towards an unexpected ending. Now, I know the author said something about his life going through many changes in the last year of the novel, and not feeling well, but It was still a disappointing ending for what was an overall good novel. <<less

Similar to Perfect World or early True Martial World, only without annoying yiyaaa and... action. It is slow and somewhat boring, I am at chap 38 and only now is the MC preparing to go for the first hunt. He is 10 years old orphan, ofc transmigrated but does not use any modern knowledge in a stone age... 6months since he has transmigrated he did nothing but eat sleep and fight with kids... srsly, not even inventing games for boredom? Only by accident he got a bug shell which he... more>> used as a float for fishing, after it became a trend the entire tribe traded with him for those shells for he is the only one with a dog who snuffs out those bugs. Srsly wood doesn't float and isn't everywhere? He found cavern paintings depicting the tribe's glorious past when they were developed to pottery age? anyway more advanced than the stone age they are currently in, the MC ofc didn't show those paintings to no one, let alone teaching them about farming, domesticating animals or anything... As you can see I'm quite peeved about this hence I lowered the rating, MC is heading towards the leader path so he will probably teach them stuff or he will turn into a cultivation freak and forget all modern knowledge, fck it's not relevant... why even transmigrate

Edit: it's not boring anymore after the hunt started, ok caught up to the latest chapter, it seems it isn't a xianxia, novel is about life in the tribe, not normal tribe ofc as there are monsters and totem power but nothing OP yet <<less

A novel that combines the following: action, adventure, mystery, slice of life, comedy, supernatural, fantasy, martial arts. An MC that is a fine MC and I find that I always find a likeness in him to those MC's in Western Sci-Fi genre novels where alien, space, and planetary exploration is the theme. A calm, smart, intelligent and hard-working MC - and is not addicted to women like some or more or almost all other MC's out there. Learning new things, everyday lifehacks and survival - these are what this novel... more>> is all about. I love it! <<less

I'm writing this at chapter 31, so please keep that in mind as you read this review. The story starts off somewhat slowly and can be treated like a slice of life type story, at least thus far. At this point there really is at most only the slightest of hints at what the story's plot will be beyond the main character's day-to-day life. If you're looking for instant excitement, crazy battles, an overpowered character, or things of that nature, you won't find them in the first thirty chapters.

What... more>> this story offers, at least so far, is essentially the main character's primitive, day-to-day life. I won't go into specifics but overall, I find this a relaxing, easy read. It's the kind of story I can read whenever and wherever; a pleasant story I don't need to put any serious thought into. If this sounds like something you're interested in, give it a shot. Just keep in mind, this a story with 900+ chapters. This review may become obsolete with time. Anyways, I like it enough to write a review for it. "Actions speak louder than words" or so they say. <<less

Absolutely incredible read. I started reading, expecting a typical OP MC, who will be underestimated, beat a villain, but the next villains still underestimate him, and so on. This novel was a breath of fresh air among all the typical fantasy novels.

I would call the novel a very well written adventure. MC is not too overpowered. He ends up having to run more often than not, but you never feel he's a coward. It's more about him being a part of a tribe than a typical one man show. The... more>> superpower element too is interesting, but not over the top.

It is one of the few novels which stayed interesting from start to end. Unless you are looking for a typical cultivation/harem novel, it's definitely worth a read! <<less

basically an exploration, world-building novel. Pretty chill. A LOT of face slapping.

its kinda like if dr. Stone and lotm had a baby but focuses more on tribal aspects and slice of life type shit

MC is smart and fun to read, supporting characters also feel real and are cute ngl. Spice it up with some comedic undertones (but not overwhelmingly too much it hurts the plot kind of comedy).

A LOT of info dumps, but I like that sh*t so more of a plus for me personally. Also, non-existant romance or focus on it. Fantasy plot sh*t yo. Also, its the SLOW kind of novel

ending feels weak asf tho so if your enjoyment is IMMENSELY affected on whether endings are good or bad, don't recommend it. This author is weak with endings but good with plot (this and stars of tomorrow)

although I care about endings, its not a dealbreaker for me so novel is still enjoyable and fun to read. <<less

Writing/Translation: 3.5/5

The translation I read is from C1 to C265~ is by lesyt. It was pretty good. Very readable with some errors that are not really noticeable. However, after 265 ish, the translator is FangMama and it's such a whiplash from the previous translator. Some names and important terminology were changed. Some snippets of the story were also removed. Also, there are more errors. In the end, I also read from the novelhi website. The names and terms are more consistent with the previous translator and have the missing... more>> tiny bits of text. Less errors too. Not the same or as good but much better than the new translator. It was weird. It was like reading two different descriptions of the same event. The WangMama one is missing so many details and even has different meanings. Like Gui Ze was peeking at our MC having trouble tying knots and wondering what happened in the novelhi website translation. But the WangMaama one skipped all the lead up to this scene and then translated as the MC was staring at his knotted hands and wondering if he is s*upid for not being able to tie knots. Two different meanings here. However, I also basically read the two translations side by side because of some slightly awkward new terminology.

At C286~, the quality of both translations kinda fluctuates. Some parts are better than others. So, again, highly recommend reading both side by side. If when reading one translation something feels off, it is highly likely the other translation is a bit better. And vice versa from this chapter on.

Ahh, I’m too lazy to note down all the details anymore lol. Basically the first TL was the more easily readable and enjoyable one while the rest had all their own little issues. So it's best to read the other for more info when the current scene or whatnot is confusing or seems off somehow. You won't regret the extra work because it clears things up. But anyway, please read the story! The different TLs aren't a deal-breaker! Most of the details are kept, so it's still quite enjoyable!

Pacing: 4.6/5

The pacing is pretty smooth, except for the last 40 chapters and especially the last like 5 chapters. The ending was kind of perfunctory and things weren't as detailed or explained as much as expected based on the previous parts of the story.

Plot: 4.8/5

The setup is pretty good! I like how we are thrown right into the story after the MC is transmigrated in. I also liked how we followed the MC 6 months after he arrived in the new world because we immediately got into the juicy details of this new place haha. This was my favourite part because we saw things through his eyes as a 6-year-old child. So he's basically at rock bottom lol. He has to learn everything from scratch. This intimacy gets less after the tribe achieves one of its major goals. Then more characters appear, so it's less just him and his mind haha. This part just sets up so many mysteries to learn about and explore! I love the anticipation of it all.

After that, in the middle, it was more about setting up their base and foothold. They are kind of an underdog because everyone else has progressed more than they have. This section also had a lot of group and togetherness feels.

The last third of the story was a bit more tribal politics with their various tribe mysteries in this vast ancient world as the Flaming Horns really builds up their tribe and deals with tribal politics which wasn't quite my thing but still very enjoyable just because of the setting, their unique thing and all the worldbuilding along the way haha.

Sadly, the ending was too lukewarm for me. I also don't understand how that thing is somehow the cause of the MC landing in this world. How did that thing appear in the modern world? Does it mean the MC was transferred to the ancient past then? Why would this thing have the function of transferring people to that era? Also, that last scene with the MC flying over the "edgeless" river. Isn't it just the Flaming River? Why suddenly call it edgeless? Since the disaster had already happened and the river shrank? It felt a bit like the author really wanted to include this thing in the story but it was already ending, so they had to slot it in willy-nilly at the end lol. Also, the final big bad. I just don't really get him as a villain. What was his goal anyway? He planned many things over so many years and did all this stuff supposedly for revenge, but then we see that he actually doesn't really care about it and treats the targets as tr*sh that is so useless that they might as well not clutter up the world? Then why did he go through all that 1000 years of effort?? Also, I feel like there were one or two plot threads that didn't get used? For example, Sapphire’s last shackle and its cult. I thought they were going to have some important role in the final battle but nope.

Setting/Worldbuilding: 4.9/5

So good! The worldbuilding is fantastic! So far, the best worldbuilding in a CN novel I've read! Mostly because it hit the spot for me, ancient world, mysteries, adventure, wonder and unexplainable awe over nature everywhere! I love the feeling of not knowing what is beyond! Most of this was focused on the first 300 ish chapters but there are all kinds of new things to discover in all the later chapters too!

Characters: 4.5/5

The MC is a quiet, smart, calm and silently adventurous guy haha. He's older than his physical appearance so he's more mature. I liked following him around :) The cast of characters is quite big, all have their own quirks and feel real. Especially the various tribes. They all have their own distinct beliefs, traditions, oddities and what have you. The only issue I have is that the longer the story is, the less quality time we spend with any character.

Personal Enjoyment: 5/5

Sooo much fun XD. I read a good chunk of this during my first and so far only, COVID experience XP. So there was a lot of time alone that I willed away in this world, exploring things bigger than myself. And it's so deliciously long too! I think I spent two good weeks on this, so fun! This is my second tribal story I’ve read (I think lol). The Stone Age Husband Raising Journal was the previous one. That one, the world was super vibrant and I loved the whole setting. Their special characteristic was the dinosaurs as the animals haha. I love nature-focused stories so XD This. This is like an upgraded "real" tribal story hahaha. Just about every aspect is at least a little bit better than that. Except for the romance lol. Here, it is non-existent, while the previous one was a BL novel. This one is so much longer with so much more content; the MC has actual drive and is an active main character; the focus is on clan building which is executed far better; and the world is more vast, unfathomable and rich. I would like more deep character development too though ahaha.

My Created Lists (I include my rating and review in the list itself XD)

  • Family/Village/Wealth Building, Poor to Rich, Business Management - lots of nothing to something type of stories, like this one!
