A story of time-travel. Sly and cunning, she unexpectedly became a sickly noble lady whose fiancé is merciless and demotes her to a lowly concubine. She sneers and bravely breaks off the engagement. To hell with scumbags, marry heirs to lords, blind the courts with her brilliance.

But, my Lord, we agreed that we are only partnering to scheme against others, when did you start to treat acting as real? Hey, hey, don’t touch me.

The Lord smiled slyly, “Your hands are too cold, let me help you warm them… Your feet are cold too, let me help you warm them.”

“Why don’t you just say that my whole body is cold and you need to warm it all up”, Murong Xue said indignantly.

The Lord nodded, “Good idea!”

Murong Xue – speechless. Hey hey hey, where, where are you putting your hands?

It starts strong with an MC who can hold her ground but doesn't follow through to the completion of it's story arcs. Antagonists are never killed or neutered of power leaving them free to cause more trouble right away making any victory MC takes feeling hollow and pointless.

The fiance was at first given a reason for trying to keep the MC along with his replacement wife that made him seem human if not sympathetic but with time he and his bride devolve into villainess retches with no motivation for attacking... more>> beyond being evil.

The male lead has so little to redeem him that the narrative is forced to rely on coincidence in order for him to have any positive impact on the heroines life at all. He always just so happens to be in the right place at the right time to help MC with her current life threatening situation and this is the basis of their relationship.

I'd thought up to now that even if he didn't have any good traits at least he doesn't have any bad ones either but with time it's only the bad traits that have come to the surface. Her body is his as far as he's concerned and he freely grabs, touches and even confines her without her consent. The only difference between him and the villain is that he isn't actively trying to find ways to subjugate and humiliate her, he just uses whatever coincidental situation he's currently found himself in to take advantage of her in the moment.

I can't think of anyway this story could turn itself around and become readable again. <<less

Fourteen year-old female protagonist overpowerrs all. It's you typical reincarnation story, the characters are flat and everything and anything is all about the MC. Nothing really exciting as the MC moves from one plot after the other.

Think of it as Harlequin Romance meets kung-fu in Ancient China. But for a light read, it's okay.

I dropped the story.

It is interesting to read but there is no cultivation. This falls into the category of normal time travel. Is the "sly" part in the title to trick the readers?

Spoiler

There are several holes in the plot. How did she get rich enough to fly on a private jet.. Did it belong to her friend or not?

Why was she so experienced in fighting dogs and possess knowledge on martial arts (what kind of martial art did she study? Military self defense?)

[collapse]

The translators get the characters mixed up sometimes, he turns into she, even the names get mixed up. So far the entire main household has died except for the female protagonist. <<less

I'm not sure if the female lead is clever like the tag says ?

She's a grown woman before she transmigrated but I think her mind receded from being a grown up to being a 14 year old, well yeah her body is a 14 year old right now but her mind and soul are not. Why does she act and talk like a kid most of the time? Some of the incidents are no brainers and you wouldn't need to think too hard who did it and who's the mastermind... more>> but she won't have a single idea. She often fall to her enemy's traps too and if not for the too many coincidences of the male lead just passing by and seeing her being killed by her enemies she would be dead. There were times when she had a "well thought out plan" but would end up failing miserably and again, the male lead would save her. And she would always act dumb and gullible around the male lead. Did the author do this for more twist and to make the incident longer and more complicated? She's both smart and dumb I don't know why. Haha.

The male lead is an as*hole too. Yeah I understand he's "The evil prince" but he's really irritating. There are a lot of male lead like this one with the tag evil and cold blooded but you'll love them. This one, I dunno. Lol. He's controlling, jealous, and unreasonable. The female lead has a twin brother and he wouldn't even let the twin brother get near her and touch her as long as he's around. Really? He's jealous of the twin brother? She's her brother for Pete's sake omg! If the brother can't come near her, imagine the other men. He caused a lot of misunderstanding and trouble because of his obsession of her and because he doesn't want her to be liked by other men. He always over reacts and forcing her sexually. Forcibly kissing her, taking advantage when she's drunk, forcing her to sleep beside him, there was one time when he's super jealous seeing her and her ex fiance on the street he forced to kiss her to the point that her mouth got bloody and would hurt her unintentionally because of the over jealousy. And what did the female lead do after that? Get angry for a few seconds but would give in with a few coaxing words then act like nothing happened. Omg I'm having a sky high eye roll right now. Lol. Yeah he spoils her and helping her beating her enemies but he's also abusing her and controlling her.

This novel looks like a novel that you would often see on wattpad written by teenagers with lots of dumb dialogues. Lol. The only thing I like about this novel is the satisfying revenge on the super evil and equally dumb villains. <<less

The whole plot is so-so. What would you expect from a transmigration/ancient chinese settings. It's just that aside from it being common, the translation quality is very poor. One second he's a prince then became a princess then a crown prince, their names are always swap, often missing an apostrophe and the way the story was written, I can vaguely understand anything. It's to the point you'll lose the will to read. But then again looks like another group has picked this so i'll read this till then.

Btw I absolutely... more>> agree with chiii's review. So damn accurate <<less

Finally, FL and her ex-husband-to-be are going to break off an engagement. Congratulations! Ye YiChen is a domineering and narrow-minded guy. I don’t like him, AND I am happy that our FL doesn’t choose him.

i love the MC and FC story going sweet but this novel had so much under logic in it, like they describe FC somone from rich family but sometimes the daughter of the head country but sometimes call her father a king and mother a queen and the her manor describe as palace huh.. Idk it the translator or what but most unlogic is this lady is weak but he can walk from the MC manor to hers.. Please if the MC is the prince from another country how can... more>> he be come and back as he pleased. Is the country such a tiny place? It would be take days not just walk.. The geography in this novel is really a mess.. I drop it, although the strory is sweet but the a so many confused thing and another thing is, if the FC from 21 century what the hell is she doing studied poison, martial art etc.. Somekind assasin? But she said she was a noble? Huh? She died when her going vacation with friend.. I cant take it <<less

This started out pretty good. I was curious how she was going to get away from her jerk of a fiance. But now,...

Spoiler

I'm getting turned off because the MC keeps getting crazier and crazier, and her enemies just keep piling up. Plus, her ability to always get one-up on others is just too unbelievable.

I don't think I can take much more of this.

This book really turns me off, normally, I adore face slapping OP MCs but I can't seem to like her. And the violence omg, now don't get me wrong, if the MC was using violence to off them I wouldn't mind, but the continuous abuse is ridiculous. Yeah, I get it, you came for revenge so please get on with it. The scene that made me drop the book was the way she beat up the grandmother. Okay, that old lady can be a devil's incarnate for all I... more>> care but to use your own hand and beat the sh*t out of an elderly? I draw the line there, like there are so many other ways for her to get her comeuppance and other ways to make her suffer, but I guess our MC doesn't have enough braincells for that. The story is a bunch of cliches meshed together anyway, so really nothing new to see here. <<less

Kind of undecided how to rate this story. It's no masterpiece like Princess Wei Yang or Chu Wang Fei but it's a nice, easy read. The plot moves quickly (unlike the previously mentioned stories) and the heroine has a refreshingly supportive brother (even if he's a bit on the s*upid side). The heroine is very decisive and firm in her judgment and I like how she's rather straightforward. The male lead (when he shows up) is very black-bellied and his interactions with her are kind of hilarious and cute because... more>> most of his moves go right over her head. To summarize: Would definitely suggest if you like this genre, want something moving at a faster clip, and aren't too picky. <<less

The first 25 chapters were actually interesting and well translated. And then the quality of text nosedived. I can read the raws, of course, but I am not sure I will.

The story of an obstinate man who is obsessed with making the FL his low level concubine (instead of marrying her as his main wife as it was initially agreed in their marriage contract) makes me feel tired as I read about him attacking her over and over again to make her submit.

He is a general, a successful general, he... more>> is already in love with someone else, so this war of wills between him and his unwilling fiancee (the FL) will take a long time to be decisively won or lost by him or her.

Spoiler

It actually lasts the entire novel which 2022 chapters later ends exactly where it began in exactly the same manner it happen on the day of their supposed wedding: Ye Yichen (the general) fights Ouyang Shaochen (the ML) in their final battle and the general falls off the cliff. This time, to his death.

[collapse]

I dislike that kind of plot the most, when one person obstinately imposes themselves on another, so I am stopping right here. <<less

Rubbish!!

I'm so disappointed and irritated now, I can't express in words. Argh!! I have read few great historical novels before this and had high expectations. But this was more like written by teenager, I felt like I was reading some Wattpad novel written by an ameture.

No story building, no background development, no character narration, just a dog blood novel!

FL lead's face-smacking isn't as good as it could be. Her wins tend to be based on the sheer s*upidity of her opponents.

Spoiler

Like when she finds out a bunch of her mother's dowry has been stolen by her relatives, she gets it all back super quickly just by threatening to take them to court. It should not be that easy.

[collapse]

She herself seems to have few skills beyond shouting loudly and some supposed martial arts so hampered by her weak body that every male character who isn't a complete flunky can overpower her.

ML is a creep. Lots of "chance" encounters, like at some random cliff near her family's ancestral graves (what is he doing there playing a game of chess by himself?! No one does that!!!), or at private hot springs (um, ok...). He just kind of swans around harassing/helping the FL. He's a pretty standard cliche ML for this genre, but somehow a bit more annoying because he always seems to drag out helping the FL, even though her life is usually in grave danger, just so he can be extra. Also:

Spoiler

There seem to be some hints that the ML knew the FL as a child which is why he pays attention to her. Except she is a transmigrator, so the person he knew is actually dead and the FL is just possessing her body... that's kind of uncomfortable... are we just ignoring that???

[collapse]

I actually kind of like her brother, because while he is supportive of her he also has a gambling problem, which makes him a bit interesting. That probably won't last long though.

The ex-fiance is suitably a horrible scumbag, so any face smacking of him is great. But he also feels like the type to linger around like goldfish poop and never get punished enough for his deplorable actions (this is partially just my prediction because I only read to chapter 30, but sometimes you just get a feeling about these kinds of things).

It's also unfortunate that the translation quality tanks pretty quickly. (This is not a factor in my 2 star review, the story itself is just poor). It's not unreadable, but it's bad enough that I didn't want to bother continue. (Stuff like text running together with lots of extra letters, genders and names being mixed up, and translation gems like, "How come female presence is fetch?" What does that mean, translator? And stop trying to make fetch happen). I am, of course, grateful to all translators (MTL or otherwise), but a not great story and translation makes this novel not really worth it. <<less

It's the generic weak young lady getting her engagement messed up because of a scum male. A new soul transmigrated in- bam, she's a badass now.

The new young lady now set out to slap people's faces, facing danger, being badass, being a highly intellectual young lady and doctor. Scum step-family? Slap. Overbearing relatives? Slap. The scum fiance? Slap.

Objectively, this novel was quite good... for the first hundred chapters. I skipped the first five chapters, at least five boring chapters, and still I have to say I was enraptured.

I quite enjoyed... more>> it for the hundred chapters. I read it when I don't have anything to do at work just today. As I changed place and read it at my house now, the plot began to get worse and more generic.

Also, I don't think the author understands how to make her/his story flows more smoothly. In some scenes, I had to pause and was like "Did that just happen???"

One moment the MC was walking back together with her twin brother, whush a black shadow, and then, like a cat seeing laser gun, she chased after the dude even though not chasing after him was a perfectly feasible choice and it's not like she was being forced. And bam! She fell into a trap. What I got from that scene was the author simply wanted to show how much of a badass the MC was and had her face the princess-villain whom her fiance dumped her for. My brows almost reached my hairline at that scene. This isn't a spoiler as I did not specify the event. Just pointing out the weirdness of it.

Sometimes, when characters were talking, I sat here reading and wondering why the heck they were talking when there was someone else near them. At one point, the author made a fun of this but aside for that, I still kept wondering why some characters seemed to disappear in the middle of a conversation- it's obvious to me that the author was not really good at including many people in conversation.

And then an event just happen in the middle of a discussion, with that, the MC left to see the event and I'd wonder where the heck was the ML who was talking with her earlier. (Don't worry, he's not kidnapped. Just happen to be in nearby tea shop, drinking tea, when the MC left him)

The MC was also progressively... soft. Not the good kind. Like, being soft to enemy.
Spoiler

It could be said she fraternized with the enemy prince who was responsible for her homeland's soldiers' demise. Okay, it can be said she didn't know at first. But then she knew after the ML told her and STILL being chummy. Heck, the twin brother almost got killed by the enemy using poison. They met and the enemy prince recognized her as the very pretty girl who had accompanied him in the mountain and yell "STOP! Don't attack!" Woah, never know it's so easy at war. And instead of being cautious of him? SHE DIDN'T!!! The enemy prince later came to visit, giving an antidote and she accepted him without a slightest hint of caution or indifference. Honestly, the most trusting MC I've ever seen.

I ofted complained these female leads being so cold, very rude, and distrusting. Now I see how it would look like if they didn't... It's still very f*cking frustrating.

[collapse]

And, oh. Of course some missing 'important' people who seemed to be a harem member.
Spoiler

The Seventh Prince of Li Xiang Country (wow, I actually remember that) had a legendary-uncurable-dangerous-chronic poison in his body. MC knew how to treat him with leeches by sucking his blood, said that it's not good to suck his blood too much, offers a once-every-three-days service to get his poison out. The prince only attended two sessions, the first being the very first time the MC said she could help him, the second time where the MC had put the leeches and said she needed to do acupuncture to him which the ML vehemently refused to let her to- A problem arise when she was going to instruct and acupuncture. The scum fiance wanted to marry her as a luck wife to get his daddy wake up from his relapse, MC refused- promised to cure him instead. They bet if the MC succeeded, they'd break off the engagement right away, if she didn't, she'll marry him.

the ML turned a bit indignant. After to-and-fro arguments, the MC left with the ML and the scum fiance to treat the scum fiance's dad. I know, they left the seventh prince of another country behind- completely forgetting about him who didn't even had a piece of line in the middle of the earlier argument... Ofc, he then followed along to see the drama- can't blame him. I would too. And virtually after that, he no longer appeared significantly. Like, what the hell, author? Don't add harem member if you can't even remember him...

[collapse]

And then inconsistency began to sprout out. The Author is running out of ideas it seems, I would say it's because they kept cramming up events so close to each other.
Spoiler

You will not believe how crammed it was after 150+ chapters. A vacation with an entire royal family plus ministers, nobles, blah, blah? An emissary of enemy country came and insult the emperor. The MC stepped up and with one elegant stroke she changed the insulting crippled dragon painting to be a soaring dragon. the emissary got mad. And bam, an army of flying wooden snakes attack. What the f*ck was happening? If I was there I had to submerge my head underwater and pull back to ascertain whether I was dreaming or not. Author, not everything has to be an all-scale battle with so many people. Chill the f*ck out.

Everything started out so well but deteriorated really fast. In the beginning the MC is intelligent and cunning but still limited because the body she transmigrated into is weak and didn't train in martial arts.

Spoiler

In the later chapter she suddenly can defeat ninjas and assassins, it's like the premise of the story is modern times where the MC can talk to the prince in any way she likes and invite the ML into her house. She is also openly kicking the villains and breaking their bones. Not only that but no one even question the MC on her changes not even her bother everyone is like her mother was very intelligent

The story started very logically but in the middle it really feels like there was a switch in style, logic dissipated so am dropping the story here. <<less

For a female reincarnation story, it's okay but nothing to write home about. The MC is strong physically and mentally, allowing her to easily retaliate against anyone who wrongs her. With the ML backing her, it's pretty much smooth sailing from chapter 1. But with all these similar stories popping up, everything just starts to blur. From their names to her cold poison, back story, it's pretty much a rehash of every other series out there, but if you read it as a stand alone, it's not too shabby. For... more>> me, the easiest series to confuse this with is EAA since the translations started around the same time and update within a few hours of each other as well. 2.5/5 <<less

The plot is all over the place. MC comes from modern world but it was never explained what her background was to own such skill and knowledge. The flow is strange, the aren't clear distinction between timeline. Translation seems to be MTL, it's hard to comprehend the already jumbled story.

The antagonist is beyond one dimensional. The only redemption is that MC is straightforward in her confrontation, so scheme can be concluded very fast.

ML is awful, not only possessive but also directly harass MC. The most s*upid thing is that MC... more>> is so dense that she doesn't seem to care about ML treatment.

I'm sorry but just because you come from the future doesn't mean you are basically a walking google search engine and know everything from politics, martial arts, cooking, random magical creatures, agriculture etc. I mean yes she probably would know some things they dont but who remembers everything they are taught. Also did the writer forget that the characters are only 14 -18 yrs old because... more>> most of the time its like they are adults.

Also the random cultivation thrown in was so unnecessary, its like the writer couldn't decide what type of novel they wanted to write. <<less
