Its similar to terror infinity. Good characters build up. Theres progress in the story abeit slow but acceptable pace. The difference between terror infinity is that this story will focus on the MC rather than as a team in terror infinity. The ever changing pov in terror infinity is depicting an action movie with multiple leading characters whereas the this novel stays true with one MC.

Although the idea is similar to TI, the direction, concept and flow is completely different. The MC is a legit 'genius' not because he is great in cultivation, but because he is genuinely smart and outwits his opponents. It is definitely a great read for readers seeking intelligent suspense and wishes to get surprised by the unexpected and ingenious ideas/ actions of the MC. Of course there are certain excessive information, but those only serves to add depth to the novel. For those that doesn't like it, they can simply... more>> scroll through it fast. Still, the story flows in an unpredictable pattern, so prepare for surprises. People will either hate or love the MC. The novel starts slightly slower, especially the prologue, but as it progresses to vol 3, we can see the rough focus and direction the author has planned for this novel. Lastly, in a sense this novel is different from those epic explosions and colossal skills, the fighting is more real life at the start, but more epic fight scenes gets introduced later into the novel. I advise interested readers not to give up at the start. It's definitely worth the read. <<less

Yeah you bet. it's kinda similar to Terror Infinity, however it's quality is nowhere close to it. The whole movie thing is not interesting at all, it's very boring. Hell, I even forgot that it was a movie world like TI for a couple of chapters, just random fight and brawl with street hooligans and police. It cost many chapters just to fight a random competitor.

The first movie is terminator, it's... ugh.. very boring.

Edit:

Full of info dump. Nearly 80% of every chapter is consist of info dump that it's... more>> unbearable to read. <<less

So many haters giving a bad review. Did you even read past the prologue?

The Ultimate Evolution features a different concept about the movie worlds than Terror Infinity. In TUE we have Sheyan, the main character, receiving what could be considered side missions. The plot is compelling, the story is engaging, and the fights are awesome.

One downside about the novel is how overly descriptive some enemies' and items' stats are. But one can skip those text blocks.

Also, the prologue is most certainly skippable. Sure, he can go back to Earth after... more>> every movie world, but I mostly don't care about that subplot.

Finally, it's me, matosz from reddit. I registered to support TUE because it's such a shame so many people are missing out. So yeah, read it, now, please. I promise you won't regret it. <<less

This novel's concept is similar to that of Terror Infinity (surviving in different movies by using the knowledge of movie's plot), and personally I really liked Terror Infinity. But having similar concept doesn't means that it's a ripoff or plagiarized. Most of the xianxia/xuanhuan series share various concepts but they are not ripoff, right? Just like reincarnation or xianxia genre there is a separate genre know as Infinity series genre born thanks to Terror Infinity).

The first volume is a big prologue and to be honest it's totally irrelevant to the... more>> main story. The main plot starts from Volume 2. Too soon to judge but I'm still giving it a chance as I want more of Infinity genre series. Hopefully it would be as good as the description of the story. <<less

Α good read by an excellent translation team! The plot is based in the interesting idea of the protagonist getting in movies, taking missions and powering up. The beginning is quite peculiar and maybe anticlimactic which is probably the main reason for the low ratings by people who didn't try to read after realizing that the the first chapters were talking about fishers.

Another possible minus is that the world development, the reason people get s**ked in that world, teammates and other stuff that usually the author presents in the first... more>> chapters haven't appeared yet. You could say that the author is not in a hurry but he compensates with many details about the missions and power up system.
It's worth mentioning that even though the core of the plot appears to be the same with Terror Infinity, the stories seem to take different paths in most aspects and you won't get bored or think that you are reading the same stuff, which happens a lot with the many stereotypes of wuxia novels.

Well to end this if you like the idea of human evolution or being part and affect the plot of famous movies or trying to survive in an environment/world you don't understand or getting abilities and powers which you can also use in the real world you will definitely enjoy this novel. <<less

The beginning 7 chapters were kind of a long prologue that wasn't very interesting to read, but the story completely changes after that. It becomes more like Terror Infinity, but with a bit more ruthless and cunning MC who's been operating solo. I fully recommend this series.

At first I thought it would be some boring action genre at first, but then when all the "fun" stuff began- I was totally glued and anticipating for the next chapter.

Additionally I'm totally like the character especial because of is background (I'm kind of can related to that), so although that I do read few novels similar with the character with stats and levels etc, this is the character that I'm the most connected with.

Love it, the story has a great plot and always keeps the readers guessing. While it is similar to Terror Infinity it has a different feel. If you like game like stories it will be right up your alley.

Massive info dumps and boring battles that go on too long. The descriptions are disgustingly too much to bare and needless equipment info that describes down to the weight, width, and length. I would give it a 2 if the pace was faster.

Story has a interesting idea to explore more of the background story and minor characters, but ultimately fails badly and can't even complete with Terror Infinity, which was great, but had to many mistakes. MC and others are more interested in scheming and backstabbing than to adventure, do... more>> quest, and such. There's no fun or excitement. Its not even survival since you cab quit at any time.

The Nightmare Realm is the first world I have ever said, "Nope. Even if you offer me the chance to be the MC, I don't want to enter this fictional world". I'm sure plenty of readers have imagined themselves in the world of fiction, but who would want to enter a boring work like Ultimate Evolution?

Also, the MC is not a good person in the slightest. He'll kill someone who hasn't wronged him and think about raping a woman before killing her, and killing her just because it might make things more interesting and profitable. Basically, he has the personality of the manipulative guy in stories who works behind the scenes who eventually dies to the hero... but only he's the main character.

The system of the Nightmare realm is bad. Both the enhancements and rules. Too many restrictions as well. If you are more powerful than the average movie character because of plot and setting, rather than being exceptional, the system will reduce your powers. That's just one example.

Story progression isn't exciting to read. The MC plans too much. Readers recently have been raving about wanting more smart and decisive MCs for some reason, so here you go. The principal of the smart and ruthless MC. <<less

I understand that people rate it low because it was similar to terror infinity, but if you haven't read terror infinity yet then this story is certainly not that bad as the stars rate.

The story is about undergoing challenges/mission at movies that have been created by (so-called) nightmare realm. The chapter were relatively medium but the progress was slow, so I can't say much about it because the story is still at very early phase and not yet develop any interesting plot, so! I would recommended to read it when... more>> the chapter is a bit more piled up. If you haven't read terror infinity and only read casual wuxia/xianxia or any other "casual" novel then this might be a new thing for you.

Aaaand if you already read terror infinity then...
Spoiler

you probably won't like it. This story was inferior compared terror infinity (for now).

The ability system, reward system and mission system were slightly similar but much confusing for me, I need to read it at least twice or trice to understand it.

Lacking in explanation, the prologue has nothing to do with the main story at all, you can skip it! Compared to terror infinity group battle, this one is individual battle. The movie world will not remember the 'player' like in the terror infinity.

Well, if you have a spare time or somewhat bored with terror infinity, then.... this one in not that bad to be honest, with chapter length and slow progress is almost similar at TI so it can be enjoyable.

Will not rate it now, it's too soon, the main dishes is not up yet. Recommended it or not? I don't know, read it by yourself haha. <<less

First things first! It's got potential, but the authors build up, writing style, and plot builds are slower than many other authors. This means 8-10 chapters may be a bigger mission but a movie world might be 35 chapters or more! It's reminiscent of TI but is set up to be much longer than TI. Maybe even 3x as long nearly. So plot areas will take more chapters... Other than that, I like it alot!

Picked this up just a couple days ago and I couldn't stop reading until I (unfortunately) caught up to the latest release. I read Terror Infinity before but I dropped it. I personally found this novel to be an interesting read and far superior to Terror Infinity. This is going to be quite a long review so please bear with me or skip to the end.

For those who haven't read an 'Infinity Series' novel, it's a Chinese novel genre where characters enter movie worlds in order to strengthen themselves and/or... more>> evolve by changing their genes. Those characters (I'll refer to them as contestants) can earn achievements, points, and items from the movie worlds to purchase skills and other upgrades, essentially becoming superhumans.

It starts off slow and you can indeed skip the first volume, however the first volume provides some additional background information on the main character. It's optional to read, but if you skip straight to when he enters the 'realm' it will seem like those cliched reincarnation/other world transfer novels where those main characters 'unexpectedly transfer' for some insignificant reason. The first volume describes the main character's life and how he comes to enter the 'realm.' Unlike most of the those other world transfer novels, there's actually build up for when the main character enters the 'realm, ' which separates this novel from other lazy works that simply use the cliched tropes to start off their stories. If you can't get past the first 2 or 3 chapters, I suggest you read the first 2 or 3 chapters of the second volume then return to the first volume.

In terms of growth, we find the main character to be cunning yet inexperienced in combat and lacking in knowledge. What I mean is, the author sticks to his characterization so that the main character fights like a street brawler, using his fists. He did not become some sniper or magician out of nowhere. Instead, he lets his enemies land hits on him while he rushes in to throw some out some, because he simply doesn't know how to attack any other way. Such a primitive way of fighting actually reflects his character and background. He does use some schemes to weaken his opponents or to indirectly kill them using a 'borrowed knife, ' however, he fights and grows in proficiency as a close combat fighter but not before struggling in his first couple fights.

Regarding the 'knowledge' part, there are several very important tips that would useful to know, only the 'realm' does not really provide that information on its own, and usually the main character has to figure it out by literally discovering them or if other contestants provide him with that information. This, along with several other reasons such as bonus stats, encourages all contestants to form or join clearing parties. For the first couple of movies, the main character gets by as a solo contestant, using his wits to maximize his achievements and set up favorable battles, but as the story goes on, the main character gets constantly pressured to join or form a party because of his limits as a solo contestant. It is unreasonable for the main character to completely solo clear the movie worlds perfectly and the author builds off of that. I really like how the 'realm' does not directly force the contestants to form parties like in Terror Infinity, but implicitly suggests it.

I'd like to take a step back and discuss the 'movie world' clearing. What I find interesting is that the author has set up the movie worlds to be susceptible not only to plot changing influence, but to also contain hidden secrets and easter eggs. Those hidden secrets are like the origins of some events, towns, or characters of the movies. It's hard to describe but that's as close as I can get to it without using a spoiler example. In any case, those hidden secrets are treated as ultimate achievements and objectives. The achievements are based on how much of the movie's setting has been explored, and so far we haven't seen a single movie completely cleared by the main character becuase the hidden secrets are hard to find. While those movie world secrets are made up by the author, they are actually pretty believable and compelling from what has been released so far. Through this aspect, we can tell that the author is going beyond sticking to the information he's given from the movies, using his imagination to conjure up compelling hidden plotlines within each movie. In comparison to Terror Infinity it's like one novel only uses the movie to solely to interact with its characters (Terror Infinity) while the other uses the movies as uncharted territory for its characters to embark on adventures. Of course, it's not as nice as it sounds since both novels have the life and death theme, but you get point.

Now that I'm through discussing the story let's move onto the writing. The author is extremely descriptive and uses a lot of analogies and Chinese idioms. Some people may be bored and turned off by the amount and degree of descriptions, but for me, I find that those descriptions help visualize the characters and settings. At the very least you get more than just a character's name along with 'peerless beauty' or 'handsome red robed youngster.' One con I find with the writing is that the status and item descriptions are a mess. Like, there is no status window like in Dungeon Hunter. Instead, the details are literally listed out line by line and spaced pretty far apart. I'm not sure whether this is a good or bad thing, but the author does not go over the stats much. It's one to three times to you see the main character's basic stats per volume.

TL;DR/verdict: This is a really good novel compared to many of the generic ones out there. The author is consistent with what he writes in terms of both characterization and numbers. The story is slow at first but it certainly gets better and more compelling. The author uses his imagination to come up with hidden plotlines for the movies the characters enter; he goes beyond using the movies for their settings and storyline characters. The characters stand out more and are more memorable than the characters from a generic xianxia novel. The author is very descriptive, but not for the purposes of bsing and dragging the novel out for word count, but to help visualize the characters and scenery. The novel has its flaws particularly in the characters' and items' lack of status windows. It displays them in a long list line by line... For example it would look something like:
str:x
int:x
agi:x
...
...
Anyway, I find that despite its flaws, this novel is a pretty good read, although some readers may be turned off if they dislike very descriptive writing. In any case, I strongly suggest you give this novel a shot! If you can't get past the first volume, which provides the background information and build up, you can skip the first volume altogether, but I suggest you read the first couple chapters of the second volume then return to the first volume. It may be slow at first but it gets much better. <<less

Honestly, I was unable to get through the prologue I found it very boring espcially since I came into this with certain expecatations. I would recommend skipping the prologue and reading most of the first movie before going back to gain some perspective.

The pacing is a little slow compared to similar novels with a more well rounded cast of characters. As of now the MC is solo and has no discernable allies. I like the interaction the MC has with the movie characters in the second movie as it helps... more>> to flesh out the universe since it feels like his decisions matter. Since the objectives are much less stringent in comparison to Terror Infinity and Arena it feels like everything is more open.

Overall, I enjoy this novel because of the differences from similar novels. I do hope the novel evolves as it progresses because I feel there is a lot of unexplored potential. <<less

Held off on reading this because I thought it would turn out to be Terror Infiniti 2.0. I was wrong.

While there a few things that get on my nerves about the writing style, the story itself is quite epic. If Terror Infiniti is people being driven along on rails down a specific story path by the system, than Ultimate Evolution is the system giving players a main objective and letting them loose into the sandbox to accomplish it is they please. In many cases it is even possible to ignore... more>> the main objective so long as the alternative path changes the plot enough, or provides rewards that offset the losses. All in all, UE just seems to have a bit clearer sense of freedome and adventure compared to TI.

Both TI and UE are good, I intend to read both to the end.

Edit: Also wanted to say that the first volume is relevant to future chapters to a certain degree. If you skip the first volume, characters will be introduced and events will go down in future chapters that won't make as much sense. Anyway, I am glad I read the first volume. <<less

I prefer this over Terror Infinity (Also a good novel) because its more situated on a single person and I feel that the world is more expandable (a lot of things unexplored). I feel that the novel is more realistic in terms of the world itself and what happens but the interactions feel a bit weird and so do some characters but I like the fact that the main character has little to no knowledge on the actual movie places he goes to as well how the author uses some... more>> elements from the movies to create new events and circumstances that weren't originally there (you'll know after reading a certain volume) as well as the changes that the main character inflicts on the movies themselves. The main character is kind of an anti-hero as he can't really be considered a villain because of his actions and why he does it but why he does it make it like that to some he is a hero and to others a villain but most of his actions lead to him becoming a hero sort of figure. <<less

Really, I'm loving this more and more.

Yes, it shares some similarities with terror infinity, but the movie plot is looser, and the only limit the contestants have in the movie worlds is set by their imagination, skill and wits. I like the MC: he's not someone willing to pointlessly risk his life for every person he meets; he is a schemer and a quite vicious one at that too: his trust is hard to be gained and he basically never gets betrayed (more likely the other way around), since his... more>> guard is always up.
Spoiler

What I'm not really that fond of is the fact that MC is still, basically, a one-trick-pony, abilities wise: besides his massive hp/defence he has not many other talents and has to compensate with plotting or has to give up some opportunities (having no magic in Harry Potter world made him walk through a less exciting/glamorous path). But, as his abilities are getting broader and as the rewards for every movie are getting better, the MC is improving very fast and is starting to impact on the main plotline much more heavily (he was pretty irrelevant in the first movie). I hope he will have more tools at his disposal besides being a very smart (and with good instincs) tank in the future. In any case, this novel is showing great promise.

tl;dr solid story so far, rational and scheming MC, definitely worth reading since the translator is on track to release 75+ chapters this month. The turning point on whether this will continue to be a good story should be once he gets a few more army ranks (3 books max).

This story starts somewhat slow which probably caused people to lose interest when comparing it to TI which starts so well. The systems are clearly different. Where TI focuses on survival/death games, TUE seems to be about making an army in... more>> a nightmare world (working together instead of killing each other). My main problem with TI was the fights between groups because it was so forced that it became convoluted. The interactions with other parties have been far less constrained so far which makes it harder to predict where the story is going to go.

I thought a magic world would be ret*rded since the MC can't use magic but it was just as satisfying as the previous world.

The MC seems like a real person which is fairly rare in these stories. <<less

I've read only the first volume. I'm not inclined to read any more.

While the intensity and emotion are cool, there's not much else going for it. The MC is too perfect, and the author devotes 1/10th of the word count towards repeating how strong-willed the guy is. The narration seems to be missing sections, as if the introductory volume was originally longer, before the author cut out parts to give it a faster pace and didn't edit what was left.

But the most annoying thing, which isn't going to go... more>> away, is the writing style. The author writes like a kid who's trying to be smart and cover plot holes, but whose nonsensical justifications make everything worse. Take, for example:
Spoiler

"Truthfully, Sheyan’s marksmanship was extremely poor [...] However when the group of 3-4 thugs closed up to a close distance of about 70 meters, even a person spitting saliva would be able to accurately hit one of them."

And then this injured guy, who's never used a gun in his life, fires twice and hits two thugs.

With a pistol.

In the rain.

From 70 meters away.

[collapse]

This isn't an isolated incident, but an issue that's been repeated several times already. It wouldn't be as bad if the author just let things go and attributed them to standard MC luck. But because he constantly tries to explain himself with ridiculous rationale, without bothering to research what he's writing about, while often forgetting or ignoring what he's written and contradicting himself, it makes for an absurd story. I wouldn't give it one star but... two's fine. <<less
