People who came to read thinking it would be like overlord will be sad cause it's not. It has far more in common with more standard transported to another world stories. It's not dark, serious, and the main character is a kind person despite hisa appearance. He is not an actual undead as the first chapter explains. Does any of this mean it's bad? No it's actually quite fun so far. Thus far it's basically what I was hoping death march would be before the main character became surrounded with... more>> to many characters. <<less

(LN) This series really went downhill after the arc with Thanatos, which is where the original web novel ended. Feels like the author doesn't know what he wants to do with the story. I originally dropped this on volume 9, but decided to read v10 anyway. After finishing it and realizing it was almost entirely filler, I remembered why I dropped this series. Also, despite Arc's first appearance being him cutting a bunch of bandits in half with his giant sword and showing no mercy, he's strangely reluctant to... more>> kill people from thereon. Perhaps the publisher/editor told him to tone down the violence? It's really s*upid because it comes back to bite him in the ass multiple times, and every time he just says "Ah, if only I killed them. Oh well!" It became annoying to read, I can't stand MCs who are beta pushovers who are afraid to kill evil people. <<less

Not bad but not good either

The writing is solid and actually too much descriptive. Maybe you can call it realistic but the story is kinda bland to be honest. No wonder why I forgot about this after I first read it in the past.

Saving the elves and living to their forest, the saving the mountain people or beastmen. I like the kindness of MC even though he was deprived of most of his human personalities, but he's like a person who just follow the flow. Even his goal of curing... more>> his curse was like put there so he have a goal.

I've read up to the start of volume 5. Though there are interesting things that happens each volume, it's looks uninteresting when looking at the progress of the story. The setting and characters is solid, but the overall plot is boring. <<less

Its OK. Not bad by any means, but its generic for the genre.

OP MC with a gimmick, your typical transported to another world story where there is a build up to a somewhat greater threat the MC deals with later.

Its somewhat irregular in its start and gradual climb to the threat, almost as where it led to wasn't the original concept, but that's okay.

If you want just another Isekai, this fits.

This novel is good. Not really Overlord in my opinion. But still good.

Well, I have a problem with how the MC doing whatever he was asked to do. But its not like he was forced to do it and I think he just do what he wants since he don't have anything to do.

For the first arc the MC just kind of going left and right with no purpose whatsoever. But then he finally set sight on a purpose for his journey. The world building is pretty interesting. The MC... more>> personality, sometimes two dimensional, sometimes its interesting.

Well basically, its one of those Novel that is not really that good, but you can't stop reading it either since something interesting might happen. <<less

TBH I like reading novels or watching shows that are already completed. So when I've finished reading vol 8 of this novel I then realized that this novel is still on going. Now I'm rather disappointed I read this novel. I just hate the feeling of longing for the next part of a story whilst be canceled or dropped unexpectedly.

However, going back to the novel. I really liked it and will be hoping for more to come. There are rather many cliff hangers, exciting plots and some holes to be... more>> filled. I didn't really like how the author end the volume in 8 explaining it in his Afterword that vol 8 was the last with so much for potential and more to cover in the story. But hey that's just me rather, the author and some do like this kinds of endings so I'm not judging. But weighing down I like how the story progressed and I'm actually in to this kind of stuff. How the story was made I mean.

The novel is quite detailed if you ask me. How the author could give descriptions on the characters, the background of the story and even food. However he did it a little to much. Because repeating it over and over feels like the author is just doing it to fill the pages. One example would be how the author would repeat over and over what the heroine looks like in every volume to boot, but I think that's just me.

Overall I enjoyed reading it. I got shocked when the author explained that this is his first book and one that was just an experiment. He never thought that it would amount to anything and having been made to a Manga and has been sold for over 100k copies. Well that just me rambling. But hey I got inspired by it. You never really know, you could be the next Bruce Lee of novels. LOL

Updated: Finally finished reading it. Highly recommended read! I'm not sure if I'm going to read the light novel but I think about it given that it's still on going I might start reading the light novel all over again once it finished. But for now I'm satisfied with finishing the web novel. <<less

Starts strong with the plot about rescuing elves from s*avers, but then it just drops that plot by literally going "We don't care about this anymore, go do something else." The story has a really terrible way of just dropping plot threads like that. What happened to the succession subplot? Is this romantic subplot going to go anywhere? What about the curse on the protagonist?! Are... are you just going to end the story THERE of all places?

And that's not even mentioning how boring and out of place the villain... more>> was. What's with this evil religion crap? Who even cares?

On the bright side, the characters are pretty solid, if unexceptional, and the humor isn't bad. It just kind of nose dived in quality about halfway through. <<less

So I've followed this series from the beginning and kept going because it showed promise. The brief asides when we get the POV's from other main characters and learn more about the political undercurrent revolving around the MC's actions showed what I thought were the various threads of a story that were eventually going to weave together into the main plot. Skeleton Knight has a ton of awesome events that appear to be lead-ins to further plot development and intrigue but at the end of it all I'm just stuck... more>> asking "What the f**k did I just read?" This series has absolutely no deeper plot other than "The MC ran into bad guys."

Hell, I'd argue that it doesn't even have a plot. A plot implies a complete story with a beginning, middle, and end where events happen to move forward a narrative the author is trying to convey. Skeleton Knight is just a sequence of semi-related events showing off how cool the MC is. <<less

If I can give a negative rating for this I would rate it -100, it's that bad.

The MC lacks character and brains, even common sense is sorely lacking.

He also seems to be a noob at gaming. He's just one of those who played a game for the sake of it but never understood the gameplay.

... more>> Romance is forced and subpar.

The MC wanted to stay lowkey but gets himself dragged in high profile situations. He may just as well unleash all his skills and spells in the first place.

The MC is boring and the story is a knock-off version of Overlord.

Ainz-sama is infinitely better than the brainless Arc.

The author and translator sucks as well. This novel is sooo bad. <<less

It might have been a decent LN for kids in the 2000s, but being pampered with the selection of novels we have now, I can not give this a higher grade. The only merit is that this series is completed and completely translated. Kudos to TL.

Imagine yourself, saving 10 hostages worth 10, 000 gold each, for a payment of 10 gold from elf girl. Then you gift the elf girl a top tier sword, a powerful magic stone and 3 giant bags of gold, some rare wolf tails. What does MC get for all that? He got the right to act like a beta manservent for doing more tasks for the elf, and elf still ain't giving MC any love.

Also, if you save a princess, at least great her so you can obtain benefits later, for example, information or a house which both the MC knew he needed

Basically boring and simple story telling, with a MC that thinks small, have no charisma, and worse of all lacks motivation. <<less

Really detailed but not very interesting. It felt like reading an biography or nonfiction book. Also I noticed no comedy at all even though it claimed too, and lastly very cliche. No plots, side storylines, romance things, comedy, etc. Just details

Its a MEH for me, the author for one, doesnt seem to know how to put goals in his story.

The MC is boring, at first I thought he was the "Im OP, but im also Humble" type but after reading through the SLOW AF story, I find that hes actually just a "Meh, ill just go with the flow and be boring" type of MC, DISSAPOINTED!

Going back on my first point, what I mean by goals is something such as an interesting Progression/Character Introduction/Action Scene at every arc, instead we... more>> got some dull storyline about this Motivationless MC following the elven warrior on her quest to liberate the s*aves. While it sounds interesting at first, the Actual story itself isnt, they introduced a rather boring scientist character with almost no relevance to the main story, so called Side Characters in a Side Story, then it proceeds with the long talks and uninteresting topics, then finally it reaches the highest Hype point of the story, the monster hunting part but the only thing I remembered about that arc is the MC pulling out a sandworm... (or something like that) talk about anti climatic.

You can pretty much change the MC's backstory to a number of things, even though he said hes human and from an isekai, most of the time it doesnt even matters as he doesnt use any knowledge about the isekai, is too busy hiding the fact that hes a skeleton though hes also from an isekai, people dont even care whether hes a skeleton or not. Most of em just goes like *gasps!* then the MC explains his circumstances, then everything goes hunky dory fine.

Seriously, you can just change the MC to just about anything and the story will still go on, one of the developments that I expected is one where the MC would meet the princess that he saved and their conversations and whatnot but NOOOOOO, the MC fukkin goes to a tomato farm on V5, I had enough of this so I dropped it.

To the people who wants to read this, I cant be your judge as in to whether you should read it or not but I can at least say that unless you find a Slow progressing story with boring characters and almost no Climax point Interesting, you should look for something else to read. 3/5 just because its supposed to be an Isekai. <<less

This novel is good. I would give it a 3.5/5 because a lot of other novels do the same concept much better like overlord and the new gate. This novel starts off good and is good until volume 6 when the main plot starts to unfold and the weird way in which it ends at volume 8 makes it feel so weird. The MC does not end up with the Female MC and the open-ended end makes the whole read feel worthless. There was so much more to explore about the beast girl and the history of the other people who were summoned in this world 600 years ago but the author never goes in-depth with it.

Op main character in a fantasy setting. Powers are good and I like the pace of the romance but the biggest problem is the goal or motivation of the MC. Or the lack there of. He just follows the girl around and helps with whatever she needs not asking for anything except maybe helping him get his flesh back. He has godly powers and can even bring back the dead but doesn’t show it off so everyone else only has the idea that he’s strong but not to what extent... more>> and he’s not doing it to avoid trouble. He’s actively searching out trouble with the elves and revealing unstoppable abilities but never speaks about it afterwards and no one questions him about it either. While reading I felt like arc wasn’t doing anything worthwhile and I was bored more than anything. He doesn’t improve cities or start a business or even get rich (he acquired a fortune after pillaging a noble but it’s basically forgotten and never mentioned again) So the largest drawback is the lack of a goal and feels like a slice of life that’s trying to be an adventure novel and depressingly failing. <<less

I give this novel rating 3* (star)

regarding the story is good and all. But It just that as in terms on love interest, not to spoil though is just that the story were progressing regarding the development of each character relationship is kinda annoying in some ways especially (chiome , that girl have been through a lot and yet she just been acting normal all the way until now without any love interest at all).

As our MC arc is a good guy character but as he encounters the dark... more>> elf, some how this story is kinda lack of freedom for the MC which make this MC an errand boy whose duty is to full fill random request that have been assign to him which he has no relation at all. I mean he goes adventure but not an adventure that we think.

if he was encountering some one in trouble, he helps them but then he suddenly were given some request by themselves which even more trouble some. As such, he was been tied to the endless cycle of burden since the people whom he saved were pointing a bigger unsolved problem that gives him a no room to reject the sudden request and not to mention, he drawing himself more attention contradicting to"without drawing attention" that have been stated on both novel description and early chapters. He has no ambition at all, he is only interest in food (that's it).

I feel like the story were progressing which makes one curiosity increasing but the story some how give a disappointment feeling. Any way, if any one like to read this novel, go ahead and try it. <<less

He stopped being overpowered at some point. Like, he's supposed to be like onepunch man, but they nerf him at some point where skill can beat him.

I was looking forward to an overlord with no responsibilities. Now he's turned lame with no personality; just another cookie cutter romcom protag.

Volume 1 was quite enjoyable, but volumes 2 and 3 seem to be mostly pointless and with Volume 4 I can't help but wonder if there was anything that will be significant later on.

Overall I'm not impressed, which is sad because I really thought the author started out well. Every once in a while after volume 1 we get brief glimpses of something interesting, but then the story seems to follow the side story of the Main Character trying to find a goal.

Spoiler

This Spoiler is meant to be informative about my personal views of the story and giving insight to any author that wrote/read this story.

Volume 1 - All about the overpowered main character coming to terms with the new world and allowing himself to get roped into a beautiful elf-woman's quest that points him towards the path of becoming a virtuous hero. Loved this volume, ended well.

Volume 2 - All About the overpowered main character moving around in the new world and allowing himself to get roped into a beautiful cat-woman's quest that points him towards the path of becoming a villainous hero. Not anywhere near as good as volume 1. Seemed like a darker copy of volume 1.
*Also, an interesting bit where he revives a bunch of dead people. As of volume 4 nothing really done with this.

Volume 3 - Everyone reveals that they are a racist, even the MC (a little bit). Then all of a sudden they come across a town that doesn't appear to have that racism and discrimination (seemed perfect for a plot twist, but nothing happened). For all I care this volume could be destroyed.

Volume 4 - MC finds a hint that he can reverse the skeleton avatar appearance, but its only temporary. Loved the near coma that happened due to him losing his skeleton avatar appearance and thought process. First sign of a relationship as the elf he has been with since volume 1 finally sees him as a man. Something about previous other worlder and beastman clans... I don't know. I really started losing all interest in the story during this volume.

Now this is a surprise, I didn't know KeG became an active illustrator. Well, it's good to know. Now for the judgement, I think this is focusing too much on appeal as it's selling point, story wise... very casual, didn't even bother thinking about back logic, and adds whatever he likes, making the story line misattached. Well at the very least, it is in course in terms of relationship, despite the characters being a square type (sudden change of character). It still have it's appeal as selling point as mentioned... more>> earlier, there is also no denying that this is an enjoyable series, at least 100x better than new gate crap. <<less

Interesting premise, though I personally couldn’t immerse myself when not only were there grammatical mistakes (Surviving typos is a necessary tool for enjoying many of the novels, both translated and original.), awful sentence structure (Even if the original japanese is or isn’t terrible grammatically the meaning of “translation” isn’t necessarily to translate literally but to convey the meaning.) and wrong words are used: Bear, not bare. Tunic, not tonic. Etc.

An editor would hopefully mitigate most of this, because as it is (if the translator doesn’t improve or an at least... more>> decent editor doesn’t help out) this potentially interesting would require the reader to stop every few seconds to think about what’s actually being conveyed. And that greatly diminishes the enjoyment of reading, at least in my opinion. <<less

A very lighthearted isekai which is mainly slice of life and not a lot of fighting.

From what I read this was the authors first work and a test run of sorts. Keeping that in mind I think its quiet the good Story and worth the read if you are running out of novels but that doesnt change the Fact that it's below average Compared to other works.

It becomes clear early on that the novel wasn't planned through from beginning to end. The first time we ever hear about there being... more>> an antagonist is only towards the end of the novel and the MC is just wandering around doing what he wants most of the time without a clear goal. Meaning a lot of Story threads just kind of disappear.

The fight scenes are pretty bland except like one or two and the MC doesnt really use a lot of skills or tactics even though he has Access to them. Its also never Revealed how MC got isekaied and why he got the powers he has.

With that being said I think the characters are done very well. MC is pretty standard bland self Insert kinda guy but the cute pet ponta makes up for it by being all fluffy and stuff. I liked that the Role of the two female characters Was mainly being companions and they werent really used for your typical lovers quarrel and romantic scenes. <<less
