I feel like this story had a lot of potential but as I read it I just kept getting disappointed. Action scenes are extremely lackluster and the themes are all over the place. There are people with power armor and also people with magical martial arts and so on, with little unifying theme between them. Characters are hardly developed, especially the heroes that the MC fights. Worldbuilding is practically nonexistent, I know who the bad guys are and who the good guys are but pretty much nothing else.

The biggest disappointment... more>> is that I kept expecting the protagonist to actually overcome difficulties with strategic thinking but every time it just comes up lukewarm.

In the three fights against heroes so far, there frankly is nothing particularly clever going on. There is very little to each of these 'fights', and all of the minor characters end up amazed as if only a genius could possibly come up with plans so nefarious as to use a hostage. Seriously, these people are part of a self-declared evil organization and it appears as if they're afraid to actually hurt people. It's ridiculous. Most insurance salesmen in real life that have ruined more lives than the people in this 'evil organization' have.

TL;DR: Flat, undeveloped characters, lack of worldbulding, everyone sucks the MC off for pulling off plans a baby could have thought of, bad action scenes, lack of cohesion of theme, overall poor writing quality <<less

A nice change in a Japanese light novel, the MC accepts what he is (evil) instead of denying it and almost getting himself killed except for plot armor. And the characters are mostly relatable. And you end up cheering and rooting for the MC even when he's evil.

Well I already noticed this WN around two weeks, I thought it was just like other JP Novel, maybe in this blessed day I moved to read this novel, from the start it's very unique we got average power MC without luck or cheat skill like other mainstream MC.

He's weak but thanks to that he start developing his own fighting style, usually he just like ordinary person but when pushed into corner he would become different person, he would use any method to make sure his plan succeed even if... more>> it considered as cruel.

PS, it's my first Novel review ^_^. <<less

Well. First of all let me just say I hate JP novel. If I see a JP novel get updated, I just roll my eyes and move on. I absolutely abhor JP novels. They suck period. But this novel really surprised me, pleasantly of course. It has great potential and is very interesting and unique. The MC isn't your typical hero or villain. He's more like an honourable villain. I love it and I hope the novel stays awesome. The guy is normal but he's a bit more special than... more>> that thought, he's good evil. I know it's contradictory but that's what he is or rather, he's quite open minded and kind. He's a special guy. I recommend this novel to hose looking for a good novel or some time. Kudos to the author and the translator for picking up this awesome story! <<less

The main character is not really evil, he has not done one evil action yet, but still the author writes melodramatically like he is some shadowy mysterious person. The story is rather disappointing because conflicts are solved super neatly by our "genius" MC who just utilizes common sense. The action is not satisfying, nor are the characters interesting, and the story makes everyone a idiot to make the MC seem like a genius.

Then I just cringed when he blackmails a prominent and powerful person without any evidence at all, and... more>> makes he bow to his feet. Seriously, the dude is super power and a genius, all he had to do is deny it. Just outlines how the author makes things easy for our MC.

The writer isn't good enough to write this story. All the characters are basically idiots from a parody, but it's all played straight. A straight-faced world where the dumbest tropes are true, and where someone with half a brain and some reasonable psychopathic tendencies is put on the Evil Express on the way to being the Evilest Overguy of Evil Corp or whatever. "Oh my god he is SO EVIL, we in EVIL CORP aren't AS EVIL AS HIM" they think because of his evil aura and because he... had... more>> a couple of ok-ishly evil ideas in two fights? The super-hero with 20 years of experience has never come across his strategy? 'Let's draw them out by causing havoc elsewhere' is somehow NOTEWORTHY, and so particularly evil that his supervisor thinks he could have never thought of that?

Everything the MC does is exaggerated as being some kind of pioneering thing, unprecedented, regardless of how s*upidly pedestrian it is. This feels like one of those stories where the OPness of the main character feels so undeserved it becomes s*upid. In this story, the MC is not OP in the sense of having power, but in his social climbing and the rewards he reaps from following the author's plot sketch. There is no effort shown, no feel of the MC deserving anything.

To summarise: a story where we are *informed* of various things, but which ultimately feels empty and does not deliver on its promises <<less

It was meh at best, author keep trying to portray MC like some diabolical mastermind but it's more like a what-ifs story of standard hero story but applies some common sense into the head of the villain.

So instead of villain waiting for the hero to spend 30 secs doing his power up, he will shot the hero straight up.

What funny is how everyone keep treating MC like some kind of evil genius while he's more like medium sized fish in a minuscule pond, could be better if author could tone... more>> down everyone praise over MC's mundane acts.

The MC himself is some kind of chuuni that believe himself as evil and the author apparently find it necessary to embellish the point almost every chapter while he has yet to even kill someone, the worst he has done? Taking hostages. <<less

Basic Plot: Smug Super Heroes get butts kicked by an Upstart Super Villain. Evil Plots Abound.

Our MC starts off as a typical, fairly useless, lowly peon, but comes to accept that he can actually be quite insidious as he rises in his evil organization. His normal personality is usually withdrawn and weak but is capable of becoming incredibly evil, pragmatic and charismatic. Don't expect any serious martial arts from this MC because the story mostly focuses on his serious plotting skills, although there is still some good action scenes and... more>> the plots (so far) have been exciting to read. Minor love possibilities and there is both high tech and more super natural powers. <<less

Fun, interesting story with a interesting world about hero's and villains.

Best part? MC is a villain. He started off as a peon and slowly grows to be awesome. He has no super powers, but he just has a flat logical view of how a evil person should be, and acts according to it. It's awsome!

Mmmm... garbage

I won't call it garbage if the author stopped saying "But he's evil deep inside" and just came clear that he wrote a story about a good guy who was trapped inside a villain roleplaying group. Author clearly wrote someone who's not a least bit villain-ish while he pretended that he managed to write some super villain with mega big brain that can trample other pepol.

You are reading a story about wimp that's scared to even hurt an ant with his own hand yet he play pretends as a... more>> villain, by doing 'evil things'. Is he a mega big brain 'villain'? No, he isn't, author wants you to think otherwise tho. Every other characters were afflicted by IQ debuff from MC so MC can shine as the "sMaRtESt" villain.

TL;DR : just another peace-drunk JP novel that pretends "I can write evil big brain character". <<less

Hmm. Tries pretty hard to be different and I think it does manage to do so in some respects.

That said, what it's built on is knowledge of the normal tropes that are apparent in most tokusatsu shows, it's actually quite cute about this in the way that the MC uses typical tokusatsu behavious to manipulate heroes as necessary.

Unfortunately, there's been very few major clashes with heroes (which is where I feel the most fun happens) and there needs to be more before I'm willing to give it a particularly high... more>> vote, It's a great novel for fans of the genre though. I'll probably need to revise this review once more chapters come out but as of 9/12/16. It's a very fun novel in the middle of the ballpark without breaking many barriers to become amazing.

Minor revision as of 4/1/17. The major arc the just concluded starts the characters on the path of badassery, I feel sufficiently enough that It deserves another star. <<less

It's a Good Novel and it deviates from the traditional JP MC that's hella bent on that he's good (despite being an evil dude) and convincing himself that his deeds are justified.

My only issue with the entire web novel is character building. There are so many good characters introduced, yet they are (mostly) half-baked. I feel that the Author is too focused on the plot twist and story, that he left the character development with just basic info and tragedies of their past. In all honesty, the Author could've done... more>> more to extend the Hero's backstory by a few chapters than write his/her/their entire backstory in one paragraph.

Also, the story is kinda predictable in the first dozen chapters, but as it goes on, the plot twist gets even nastier. Would recommend reading until chapter 55 before you give out some review.

Also, the author is hell of a fan on the Rock/Metal music Genre, plus his explanation on the taste intricacies of an alcoholic beverage is probably longer than his character building.
    • Characters: 4/5
    • Story:3.8/5
    • World-Building: 3.9/5
    • References: 4.5/5
    • Over-all score: 4/5
Would expect greater things in the LN.

Looking great, just like everything Yoraikun translates. Also very subtle references of metal bands in the evil organizations’ names

welp the start its your typical 'oh no my -insert someone important to MC (ie benefactor/saver/master) - died so I have to work hard and become strong and the MC actually suddenly became strong' kind of story

but it gets much better later, evil but not so evil - justice but not to justice, one of those stories that will have you think about stuff

It's simple and clean. No weird extra paragraphs just to lengthen the story. Straight to the point. Perhaps too straight because the characters move too much.

I like the MC's methodology. He doesn't really give a damn about the evil organization he's in and will do evil stuff. While others in said evil organization thinks about image, efficiency, and cleanness. Which is why they couldn't think of things the MC thinks of.

Another thing I like about this is the MC's "sin" and how it weighs on his mind. He thinks this... more>> sin was his most evil deed he ever did. And that's true.

That's it for my review. If you're fine with Antihero or Evil protagonists then please give this story a chance. <<less

Like a super sentai show, apparently. I don't actually remember much about watching power rangers when I was a kid, but the developments are pretty interesting if you keep the intended story type in mind. I like it a lot so far.

This series comes across as a pretty light-hearted casual sci-fi superhero spoof story for anyone interested. Although the MC is a villain, the drama, action, plots, and strategies are weak. Even though this series takes place an entire century in the future, technology doesn't appear to have advanced much at all. There are definitely some fun scenes, and I really enjoyed the first thirty to forty chapters or so. There are some nice twists.

The characters don't have much depth. Only Slipknot has had his background and motivations thoroughly revealed. The... more>> MC's only development and growth is his increasing "evil charisma." Naturally, one of his love interests is a high schooler... Why, Japan, why?

The setting is not built up. There are just some gangs and Guardians with different territories. There isn't much imagery either. It's easy to forget what characters look like since they're rarely described more than once. There isn't much description about the world around them or even the scenes the battles take place in. It's quite lacking.

I recommend trying out this series since it has some creativity and could have been written much better. That said, I can see why the translation team dropped it and wasn't motivated to continue. I'm also dropping it at this point since the plots have become redundant and boring to read. <<less

This is not a masterpiece. Using medium-high standards, there are many flaws about this novel; lack of [reason/source] of growth, lack of depth in secondary characters, predictable events, etc.

However, it is fun to read nonetheless when you want to pass time, although I recommend to read this novel in bulk. I feel like each "arc" should be one whole chapter each.

The MC isn't genius, smart or overpowered but he has the quality of villain not only that he also has a high motivation to change the world which is uncommon because in this novel world most of the people here comfortable with their daily lives.
